Here are my unsolicited ideas on the matter:
The skykids' planet has an artificial ecosystem designed to minimize entropy. It is as close as possible to a closed system, and most of the organisms can slowly filter waste heat back into usable form. They feed on various forms of energy rather than raw materials.
'Light' creatures have a unique cooperative ecology, where they share energy to mutual benefit. They are found in areas with plenty of warmth and fuel.
'Dark' creatures have a more familiar competitive ecology, where they prey on other organisms for their light. They are found in areas where energy is scarce. They have dull colors to minimize energy waste.
Skykids in particular can rapidly absorb energy from areas of concentrated heat or 'light' energy processed by other creatures. Areas of intense cold can sap their energy stores, a method used by many 'dark' microorganisms to release light into the environment for consumption.

What if there was a civil war between two sides (starburst and diamond) to select a new ruler. Prarie: Sort of got damaged hence the BIG holes and the sudden stop of the bell towers.
Forest didn't get attack but the krills tried to but knocked trees instead so they retreated cuz the trees are close together.
Valley: Again. they retreated into fear because of the warriors, and some warriors led them to Golden Valleys (Golden Wasteland)
Wasteland: Krills got mad and rampaged everything destroying homes,destroying giants.
Vault: ded
Eden: Attacked it even more than Golden Valleys.

|| So, if I got all of it straight... There was a kingdom in sky, but somehow (still working on it) the darkness, eden, and krills came, and the stars fell. Among with the elders and spirits. Each elder has built a home. The one who's name I forgot, but I head about him as the sky got have life to us with the reason of saving the spirits and bringing the stars back home. The stars we find help us fly. The eden stacked the last 2 realms, witch are the wasteland and wault. The wasteland lost the fight, but the wault of knowledge only could hardly survive, witch caused pain to the elder. When we go to eden, we give the stars back to their bodies, and then get to their old kingdom together. When we arrive, the stars give us rewards and allow us to return to life. I made this small theory by what I kinda found out during the game. But I couldn't tie this to the theories on the in game walls. Anyone can help me understand the rest ? I can't explain the journey between the death and take light. ||

My theory is that the stars fell making a kingdom but then eden came, destroying and killing all the people (or what ever they are) so the elders locked it away but losing the kingdoms light in the process and putting the sky children into uh like a - hibernation??? And then taking pity for the children or wanting thier kingdoms back (not really kingdoms tho) and so the sky children bring back the light to the elders :>
