Our red candle is our soul (since is lit when our chest-light is turned off, meaning our flame is our heart and to meet people we share a bit our ourselves) and it is the results of all the light we encounter, we gift and we receive (even the candle run sparks/wax we collect every day to forge candles).
Since the final scene is directly after all the stars crediting the devs, maybe our candle is made stronger by the light that they are gifting us
Or another interpretation of mine is that each candle we see in the game doesn't represent just a soul of the past, each candle is a microcosmos on its own meaning each one is full of thousands of lives (I thought of this because we see just very few spirits compared to the number of people who could live in such a big kingdom)

Ok, I saw a post a while ago that talked about what the elder masks meant. I kinda forgot but here’s what I think:
Isle - boat, gatekeeper (?)
Prairie - Butterfly vase thing, could mean they were a merchant
Forest - A crown (?) or something similar to what welders wear; they were a blacksmith of some sort
Valley - Athletic, had loose fitting, simple masks for maximum movement and flexibility
Wasteland - Armor (Headpiece, helm) similar to the American football player’s helmet.
Vault - A crown of etchings and symbols, shows they are protector of the scripts the vault holds.

winged lights and yknow, the sky children we play are just one in the same which is why we can collect OURS while the others cannot. once we collect all of them, which is inherently impossible, we'd be considered complete. which is simple enough.
but another stupid theory is that all the children are also one in the same, just split apart. perhaps some dangerous god similar to the others that they had split into parts, some being winged lights, some being our characters. this is why, every time we meet one of the guardians or whatever they're called, they take something of ours to prevent us from growing stronger and merging back together. it also explains the eye of eden, kinda? it contains all the rage the winged lights/sky children had as said guardian or god, and in order to repent [which they are unknowingly doing due to their splitting and gaining of a new conscious] for all the souls they have taken [the statues]. and once they die, thus begins a new life. almost like purgatory.

When we first start, we’re told we have to bring the lost stars home. I feel like Megan just crafted us out of light and placed us on this mysterious place we’ve never heard of for that reason and that reason only. However, since it’s a game, there’s a continuous cycle. What I meant was that Sky kids are simply beings that were supposed to retrieve the stars, then die in Eden. (the game could just have us reborn for the purpose of gathering cosmetics, leveling up, etc etc)

interesting, I tend to envision the cycle as being relevant to our purpose as a whole, rather than strictly be a game mechanics
there is two foundamental intepretations, one which the lore ends with the ascension to orbit and the cycle is considered to be game mechanics, and the other which includes the cycle as an integral part of lore
I tend to take on the latter but the two are equally valid

My theory is that the Skykid is the king dude/elder of ||eden||, mostly because we’re told the king is seen, but “not in the way that you’d think”.
As well as we see this scene in the intro, of what looks like our character, being in the middle of all of the other constellations.
And we are told that the elder is not around to be saved anymore. What if, it’s because it already was saved?

Another think that makes me thing the plant in the memory is a metaphor is:
If plants can feed with Ancestors when they weren't yet spirits, why is there just one (sort of) and bot more?
I think the plants only feed from sky creatures which are pure emition of light
While sky kids are hybrids and maybe even ancestors were (or else they would be able to fly)
Sky kids being hybrids of light and dark, can store many WLs and thus have many wedges/wings, but unlike light creatures (which are pure emition) we can fly only by burning quickly (a wing)
Thus we glow in blue during the flap
While, for example mantas, are selfgenerating their light, thus hovering and flying as long as they want
Also plants glow in blue, because they quickly burn the light/life force they fed
