Well, maybe the Diamonds are like the gold, very very precious, you can see how the forest temple is full filed of diamonds? Well, take it as a reference to human civilizations, example, the Egyptian pyramids have gold and jewelry, in sky the gold and jewelry are diamonds, reflected in the forest temple mostly. Also there's a bonus, the elder statues, you can notice the diamond shape in they, right? Well there was a diamond there, but someone stole it cause of his value, and with the same reference the Egyptian mummys of gods are make or recovered by gold

And to reforce it, in the canon lore doc there's a line that says: The Elders Fall Is Related To The Diamonds.
The elderz fall is cause someone stole the diamond from their statues, or something like it

What if the diamonds on elder statues is actually like their core?

We know they are stars. And stars does have a core right? Im guesisng its the same case with the elders since they are literal stars.

But in Sky world their core is, how do i say it, important? What if the core is what giving them physical forms? Our elders we have meet are exist in limbo world. We cannot interact with them directly without meditafing first, except in orbit which is a very different case

If their core got stolen, it might be explain why they can only exist in limbo

Also might explaining why they are 'weakened', their cores are still exist but far away from their temples

What if elder temples are build for a reason? It might be build to storing their core? I imagine here their core is some kind of pure light or at least have a fragile form so they store it inside diamonds and place it in their statues on each temples

I think wasteland was their natural habitat, if they really were actual animals before they got corrupted by the dark. And then they followed the spirits into eden, maybe because they were trying to kill the spirits so they get their habitat back, and then maybe they got stuck in eden?
