I’ve been wondering what the light that the kids have in cutscenes are, since they don’t have that in other parts of the game.

so, in the early concepts, the Prince was sent by Megabird to give flame to the (what we now know as) Ancestors (before they were dead). In this concept, the Elders were Ancestors who were given « special dark stones » that made them godly. This Prince was crowned king, and the darkness corrupted him and the elders leading eden to go boom.
But THEN in some later concepts, the prince and king were DIFFERENT PEOPLE. Now, I don’t have the backstory for this concept (sadly) but you would be attacked by the corrupt king in eden and have to literally die trying to save him. When you died, the Prince would ferry you to Orbit where you’d be reborn and then try it all over again.

So, basically my thoughts about that statue is that it’s of the Vault Elder, I believe that while the King was still the Prince, Lamed was in charge. I basically see her as a scholar/religious leader, and considering common practices in monarchies where religious leaders would be in charge until the heir was of age. But even when the Prince was crowned King, Lamed became his advisor, which is why the statues stayed up even after her reign

This may be why Lamed is so sad when she sees the sky kid after eons of being locked in limbo. She understands her crimes of horsing knowledge and cherishing technological advancement above the natural way of life

In the war to end all wars Lamed had done terrible things...she might have even been responsible for experimenting on elder mantas with dark stone technology to create a horde of near indestructible creatures known as the Dark dragons
