(The crabs either got territorial or got corrupt because of anger?) which in the end, the crabs chased the people and all the light creatures away - thats the common theory based on the story given

the devs have left us with loose threads to tie our own ends, there is no concrete story

See, maybe there was a full tripulation in that boat (in the past) and then, with the storms and krills, all of them "died or get lost, or spotted by krills" you know, well only the enchantment guide is the only survivor and then... the season starts with all the spirits founding the ark!
