What if the king is as much of a person as the friends in our constilation? (Note: this is different from the friends in our world - the ones from the constillation are separate). Similarly, the elders we see in orbit are as much themselves as the king was a person.
But the prince WAS a person - specifically the one tied to the king's image.
The cape represents us (and the prince) as people. The crown represents us and the king as the ideal or expectation.

The prince failed to measure up to the king, because the king... Was never actually a real person. But when it comes to summoning our friends from the crown, we don't expect the constilation to be our friends. We expect it to deliver our hearts and gifts of light. A messaging system made of avatars. We aren't heald to the perfect standard... And on top of that, the constilation stars change to match us rather than the other way around.
The prince, on the other hand, was heald to the standard set. This lead to disaster.
Trying to key the wall to the being the prince was expected to be naturally failed. The prince was never the king. Not really. And without the prince whole, it makes no sense to key it that way anyway. But something important to the prince could be used instead.
Sadly, the stars above were not also clued in, so our constilation remains that of someone who never existed

An interesting note on the name "valley of triumph", given the roman aesthetics present in the regions of the valley, could triumph allude to the roman triumph, a religious ceremony to honor and celebrate the victory of a military leader over a significant war/battle. Given the concept arts by Tom Zhao, this could be referring to the divergent of light creatures from eden and defenses against the invasions of light creatures lead by the prince/king. Thus the amphitheater is the location of the "coronation" of the prince. (I say coronation because the prince is likely the leader among the elders in the beginning shown by evidence in the intro mural, but this is likely where he received the triumph, what the triumph is we dont fully is)
So at least we know that part of the timeline is somewhat canon

The prince failed to measure up to the king, because the king... Was never actually a real person. But when it comes to summoning our friends from the crown, we don't expect the constilation to be our friends. We expect it to deliver our hearts and gifts of light. A messaging system made of avatars. We aren't heald to the perfect standard... And on top of that, the constilation stars change to match us rather than the other way around.
The prince, on the other hand, was heald to the standard set. This lead to disaster.
Trying to key the wall to the being the prince was expected to be naturally failed. The prince was never the king. Not really. And without the prince whole, it makes no sense to key it that way anyway. But something important to the prince could be used instead.
