Well, originally Isle wasn’t seen as a « real » realm and more of a tutorial realm, so the elder mask wasn’t put there
However, many people theorize that the Isle elder became an enemy of the others, thus was ostracized and removed from the eden door (and its also why his mask is broken)
but it’s up to you if you wanna believe that or not

I think the prince persuaded his subjects (the elders) to leave the sky and construct their own kingdom/civilization without the control of the megabird, "But darkness came, and the stars fell" refers to the initial ambition and hubris the elders and the king/prince possessed, now we are the remnants of the prince, placed in a vessel to perpetually return the stars whose lights were submerged under darkness, but we can not ever accomplish this task. It is like an allegory to the myth of sisyphus.

What is the significance of two, well we see that valley is the last realm not affected directly by the incident occurred in eden. It could be that the duality represented here emphasize to the two opposing ideologies and ultimately the triumph of one that leads the elders to descend into darkness, hence "Valley of triumph". This characterization is further represented in the map layout, the two paths, flight (the hope of reunion and returning to the skies -- unity, connected) and slide (seeking/accelerating into the unknown -- ambition, indifferent) converges into a slide track before reaching the stadium. Thatgamecompany could simply made the flying track end through its own track to the stadium, after all there is virtually no effective way to coordinate the start of the two race such that their unified ending section is accurate, i believe the developers purposely created the landscape to reflect upon the story, and fate of the stars. The last interesting resemblance is valley elders -- Samekh cutscene, the constant challenge to retrieve the fire from the player, the opposing forces strife to reach the fire before the other and fight over it. What is the symbolism and importance of the fire, well that a story for another day.
