Theory: the Wasteland elder stone was broken to symbolize their betrayal of the diamond side. This is based on the idea that there was a war, and it was between the supporters of the power diamond production and the supporters of the “natural” light from the megabird. The wasteland elder was originally on the side of the diamond producers but eventually decided to switch, either because they wanted power of their own or they saw the error of their ways in supporting the diamonds, and the other elders broke their seat at the summit in revenge.
Might be interesting to check the orbit version too.
Alternate theory: stones are old and they got cracked

Another theory is that the Wasteland elder’s stone is cracked because they were the only one to suffer a somewhat mortal downfall (based on the idea their shrine is a grave which some people think is the case).

Pure light is light though surrounded by seemingly eternal darkness illuminate ever so brightly, because it transforms its challenge and obstacles into perseverance and focus. In that case, aren't we, the children of light, vessels of pure light?

Our soul is blue. In the concepts, blue signifies darkness
However we still have our « Heart » as I like to call it. A light in an otherwise dark shell & soul.
Additionally, we don’t stay pure dark/light for very long. Personally I think this is because both forms are unstable. Eventually we will have to balance ourselves back out
