@gilded fossil those are telling the story of how the crabs used to live in harmony with people but the people kept taking their water and decreasing their pond. Eventually the crabs got angry/corrupt and attacked the people

If you look at the crab paintings you’ll notice that at one point the creatures (crabs/mantas) are at peace with the ancestors. And the water level of the “pond”, where the creatures reside, is high.
Then the ancestors used their pots and the water level of the “pond” gets lower and so low when the crabs start to attack the ancestors

tebkanlo have you seen the concept art for the game? There’s an “old” story that says Valley was built in honor of the King, who many see as the 7th “missing” elder, and who in concept art saved his people against an attack by creatures (like birds, mantas and whales). If that is taken into account, Perhaps the bird is to honor the victory over the creatures?

my theory goes like this, in regards to seeing the prince in-game and seeing the Prince and King as the same people:
In prairie (childhood) we see homages to the royal crown (mask that the prince/king wears). In these homages, they’re small and simple. Since prairie represents childhood, and these small statue type things are, well, small, I think they represent the Prince.
In forest (teenage years), the appearance of the royal crown makes it appear larger. Longer, taller, as if growing (literally or metaphorically). This, to me, is like the Prince growing into the King. Since Elders can’t actually grow, I do think this is a metaphor for growing up, not actually depicting a growth spurt or anything.
Valley is sorely lacking in king propaganda. I’m not sure why this is.
Wasteland (midlife) shows us detailed statues of an adult King, a quick transition from homages to full-on statues. This depicts the King as an adult, having now been crowned and being no longer a Prince.
Vault (old age) returns to the subliminal Prince/King references, perhaps representing him fading as both himself and the kingdom grow older.
And then finally, Eden. We don’t see him until we, his reincarnation, die, and are faced with ourselves. The dead Prince, the glowing child at the end. This is his death, the end for him but the beginning for us. In orbit, we stand in the same spot as the Prince did in the opening, in the centre with the elders around us (if you were to summon all 6). But he cannot he saved. We cannot be saved. So we return home to do it again, live our life again.
(im still working on getting isle into this theory, probably a « beginning in the end » sort of thing)

Here’s what I know
Currently, it was confirmed that valley consisted of both the rich and the poor. There would be slums, and there would be the rich houses
But both sides came together to celebrate whatever celebration or event that took place in valley
In the concepts, this celebration was in tribute to the king and how he was crowned, it was also a celebration to his victory on the first battle of the creatures
There’s theories that the flying race represented the rich and the sliding represented the poor working class

Thing is why would you build a dedicated viewing stadium for a flying highway used for transportations, also maybe ironically, you can find remains of boats in the beginning of the sliding race section and during the race.

I didnt think about that, but ultimately the flying competition shares the same route with the sliding race at the end of the run, this would mean somehow the boats co-occupied the route with racers.

Interesting theory, i always had in my head canon interpretations, that deep calla arent actually calls, but rather transmissions of light as waves, similar to like echolocation for bats, we lose the ability to receive transmissions when our light is drained, so maybe krills can not receive the transmissions?

Okay so like Eden all stormy and like it’s called the Eye of Eden because of like rebirth and how the eye of the storm is like always the most peaceful but like the reason why it’s so stormy is not from corruption or the dark forces, but because of neglect, hence all the statues of the fallen that you have to bring their light back. The reason why is because throughout the game, we’ve been taking these winged lights, these fallen soldiers causing their lights to fade out even more and darkness to come, hence why we need to return it

New player here with only just one run of Eden, but I've found it sad how these sky kids of ours are, from a narrative standpoint, eventually drawn to the Eye of Eden like moths to a flame. To save others, to perish there, and to be saved by others who come after, and be reborn.
It's a cycle, and one with a core that... can't be fixed. A cycle that can't be broken.

I think it lines up well that we have some kind of direct connection to the CoL

Who’s the King ?
The King is the presumed monarch of the Sky Kingdom. He is important to the lore, and is in game, just not in the way you’d expect. Most information about him comes from the concept arts and devs, so there’s lots of room for your personal headcanons.
Who’s the Prince ?
The Prince may or may not be canon. He was a very prominent, important character in the concept arts, so many people believe he is in game much like the King is.

by that i mean the fact that they built a home in the clouds, but because of their mistakes then something massive happened, like the cosmic boom on the broken power source stone thing in eye of eden

the isle elder spent too much time and grew like, super old. even his mask had worn out

the forest used up all of their resources (hence why the elder was ecstatic seeing light again)

the twins probably took competition too seriously. they lived glamorous in valley while the other area of the kingdom became wasteland

vault is... yknow in that constellation, the cutscene in vault showed everyone's past? well the vault showed eden at the top... so they built that giant thing from that amount of knowledge and it probably went kaboom :v so the vault guy was sitting in grief, and just passed the story onto us
... i didnt know there was a king tho, so he probably told these fellas to build it and destroy stuff

My personal theory is he's the one who warned the elders and was the one who said "but they (as in elders) did not listen" so they didn't like his warning and so yeeted his elder position [which is why his mask is broken and his face isnt in eden gate]

In the concept you’re referring to, the elders were simply ancestors who had been promoted
but in current canon, Elders and Ancestors are separate species

The spirits that we know for sure have died in the memory have broken graves, and we can’t interact with them in any way other than through the tearful miner’s memory
We can, however, interact with the tearful miner herself at the next social space
Where her grave is intact
So what I mean is, are spirits bound to their graves?
Do they just dissipate completely without a grave?

Hmm if you think about it there are waaay too many people in the world of sky. So if the spirits are bound to a grave then that would mean we should see way more graves than normal (ex. Valley and Gw graves are v little)

i mean obviously there was WAYY more people living in sky than what we are shown. a lot of graves also not interactable (ex. the room in vault). lore wise, if the social spaces were made for us, then the mega bird chose specific people to represent the realms and to tell the story
