but one of them just got basically proven

basically the spirits of the ark were part of a tribe
that basically farmed and sorta went all over the place giving out spells and stuff
their fleet was a bit big but the only ones we see are the three that have stuff in them
one day the fleet strayed too close to the wasteland storm
and was swept in
and while their boat was damaged
a krill spotted them
and attacked them
no one could find them
so they were forgotten
hence the name forgotten ark
they tried to fix the ship though as evidenced in the crab mines
but sadly they all died off

Months of development
So this is about the theory of diamond production and the purpose of flying boats. Boats are mainly for the use of carrying pots of light. You can see these pots of light being made at prairie and I say pots of light because there are butterflies put inside them. In the wave emote cutscene, u can actually see one of the flying boats carrying pots of light.
These pots are being shipped to forest to make power diamonds, they combine the light with organic material at forest and use a diamond press to combine them into an artificial Star, or what we call “power diamond”. You can actually see the concept of this by looking at the forest temple door mural. To add even more details, right when u enter forest the text on the bottom says to “find the source of an ancient power”. The pic below is another way of looking how power diamonds are made and how forest built them. This diamond press in the picture is also seen at the golden wasteland, and there’s a krill flying around it. It may be broken down but it is noticeable that it is the same factory. Also the shipwreck at wasteland is seen to be carrying certain pieces of this diamond press, it goes to the top and sides. Now I know there’s boats everywhere and not all of them are carrying pots of light, so I jus assume they are for transportation since the people on the ground can’t fly naturally

I may be overthinking this but you know how when you relive a spirit’s memories AGAIN after you already did sometimes they do this pose at the end? It’s been a while but I think this is the same pose as “Don’t go” from season of belonging, and it’s always facing the Skykid. What I don’t understand is why they would do this if we’ve “saved” them already, unless we DIDN’T? Meh just a thing that popped into my head when I was doing the mission and saw it.

@dark fulcrum on the technical side, I think spirits have a tendancy to stay in the same pose as before such as these ones (they look like they want to fight me). But in terms of story I don't think we have ever saved them, we're just reliving their memories and learning something from it.

I'll be pulling a few theories people had! > This is my view and opinion on the backstory of the ark. The spirits from the season of lightseekers found this mysterious light source and decided to share it with the scholars, they then adapted it to make new powers, psychic, illusion, fire, water, air and earth. Scholars had an idea to change the world with this power, to seek prosperity and change, probably to undo the damage in wasteland. When the season started it even said that these spirits were on their way to prosperity. But with all that power and all the orbs in 1 single ark, it attracted a deadly storm and caused them to crash into a deserted place. They were stuck here without a way out so they decided to adapt to their environment and wear clothes for the desert and we see them as “turban” clothes. One of them even made a farm. With no way out, another one of the scholars painted murals on the ark so someone could know their story and maybe one day, someone will find the ancient ark buried underneath the sand and return the lost lights.

About the shipwreck and the ark:
The theory you brought up could be true but there are things I get confused about.
Let’s suppose the two are the same ship. If the ark was there before the shipwreck then someone/something must have tried to fix it. The Krill who patrols the entrance area of the ark then must have tried to stop the fixing as the shipwreck is wrecked obviously.
Furthermore, the ark has a completely different shape, it has two floors while the wreck has three.
The last thing is about the location. The ark is covered in sand and around it there are dunes. If you look at how the wasteland is made from above, the ark is quite distant from the shore where the wreck is. And considering the weight of the ark compared to the water it could not just have been carried over there by the waves as it would have drowned.

I'll be pulling a few theories people had! > This is my view and opinion on the backstory of the ark. The spirits from the season of lightseekers found this mysterious light source and decided to share it with the scholars, they then adapted it to make new powers, psychic, illusion, fire, water, air and earth. Scholars had an idea to change the world with this power, to seek prosperity and change, probably to undo the damage in wasteland. When the season started it even said that these spirits were on their way to prosperity. But with all that power and all the orbs in 1 single ark, it attracted a deadly storm and caused them to crash into a deserted place. They were stuck here without a way out so they decided to adapt to their environment and wear clothes for the desert and we see them as “turban” clothes. One of them even made a farm. With no way out, another one of the scholars painted murals on the ark so someone could know their story and maybe one day, someone will find the ancient ark buried underneath the sand and return the lost lights.

But i still don't understand the fact that if vault scholars wanted prosperity in wasteland. Then, why SoE spirits ( who were merchants) went There??? @marble umbra a while ago we were given a hint that crabs walkcycles were based on "something" and it was up to us to figure it out. learning what crabs were mimicking was a key point in discovering really what a crab is or where they come from
not too long ago, it was discovered that a crabs walkcycle mimics that of a bat when its on all fours
as far as i know, we havent gotten farther than that

I have bit of doubt about the diamond faction vs sun faction theory. About the spear (sun) vs sword (diamond) part actually. Because statues in wasteland usually have spear, it rules out the assumption that wasteland and maybe the whole kingdom was ruled by the diamond faction. Unless, we ignore the weapon used and keep the pattern on the shield in the theory.
Or maybe... the statues shows how it was back then when the sun faction ruled.

I would say there're no factions and civil war going on, i entertain the idea there're only one common enemy, the dark creatures; the krill etc
That said the 2 different symbols may have been from 2 different eras or dynasties, 2 diffrent ruling over the years fighting the dark creature. The diamond shield being the older era and continue to sun shield.
The vault elder cutscene showed the wasteland elder used the diamond shield, but the wasteland elder cutscene itself used the sun shield. The wasteland elder may have lived for the 2 period of eras to fight under 2 different rulers or kingdoms and still continue fighting the enemy.

My theory is that species that were born from the earth are both light and dark, and they have to purify out the darkness in order to ascend to orbit. Wait, the spirits actually were already dead, I think they just "Froze in time", and when we free them we see a portion of their memories in order for them to remember themselves of who they are. That's why we see them as statues
