With two different types of the shields and weapons in display, especially at most the closer you get into the Temple?

What if different type of technologies been used for two opposing side, with one of them having the ultimate death omega death weapon essentially, or more appropriate, advancement to their items? Like what if the ones with the diamond shields and the long swords are connected to Eden and Forest, especially with the whole Forest been the powerhouse to making those yellow diamond things that might be the light sources

I'm verrry late to the isle elder speculation party, but here's what I think. The isle elser died when the power diamond in eden exploded and started spewing rock everywhere. Isle was scarred, almost featureless, but Isle elder could have sacrificed himself to the power diamond (like skykids at orbit) because he could have bben a wimpy bb skykid, too baby to go through eden, until he braced himself, over came his fears, and made the ultimate sacrifice for his land. And thats all i have for now haha,,,,(he also has no cape because he lost it all or smth)

It all STARTED when I saw 2 different types of shields in wasteland. There were diamond shields and then there were sun shields.

And then I saw that those symbols are in different realms so I can’t really say which side was which. And then I noticed that there are no krill remains in the battlefield or any creature remains at all. At the graveyard, there wasn’t any sign of a battle there at all, just a bunch of dead bodies

I looked at the lookout spirit’s stories and noticed that when he looked back, he freaked out and blew the horn indicating the he could’ve saw an army coming and he was warning them

We’ve mentioned the similarities between the rooms before, and there were too many inconsistencies in surrounding areas and parts of game continuity it would break, so it really comes down to them simply sharing architectural designs, being made similar to each other, which isn’t uncommon

And do keep in mind most, if not all, of the shields, spears, and swords in wasteland are far too large for the spirits to wield, only someone like Orion or the prairie elder would be large enough to carry them

The spirits, who would be pretty much everyone who weren’t the elders back in that time period, are far smaller
And take a look at the isle spirits, they’re moving heavy objects but clearly are having to exert their full strength for it (see the clap, wipe brow, and yawn spirits), they definitely couldn’t handle those massive weapons

I saw a theory somewhere earlier in the chat which was that the spirits weren’t able to fly. And another one that Eden was the original home. It’s almost impossible to fly in Eden- because of the wind of course but- random detail

Sky kids are just stars that fell from the sky, Elders are just the embodiment of multiple spirits, or protectors of constellations, spirits are stars that make up a constellation, our job is to find them because like the stars, they fell with us, when we complete them our elders reward us with gifts they deem important because we finished important tasks. ||Eden is a collection of lost or “dead” sky kids, we collect light and give it to them to release them from being entrapped in darkness and restart over to free our kind|| Krill/Crabs and other dark creatures are creatures that existed on this land before we fell and simply just do not like us or our light

Which is why when it’s dark there’s a lot, or menacing, which is why there’s like 40 in the graveyard

And when they see us they try to remove it from us and when we’re not holding any flame/light to us they dont bother us. if you lose all your light you can walk in and out of a krill’s vision

Haven't kept track with the speculations here but has anyone noticed the new hidden room in vault changed? The last I remembered it was not as broken, was much more litted and used to have stairs but it has now been beaten down

I heard the Vault was a dream scape type of thing where its not real, but does this imply that maybe the Vault is getting maybe "corrupted" or some sorts?

If I recall correctly , the initial entrance was a clean cut out square like an actual hole to get in, now its replaced with a square but a hole punched into it

Base on this long hallway that's being digged into like a tunnel, it feels like a krill or the long fat dragon has smashed into it or some sorts

Saw people talking about the different shields in wasteland and wanted to see them for myself. Someone said the diamond shields could be from the forest kingdom. But what do the symbols actually mean? Maybe it’s two different ideologies about how light should be treated. The diamond clan thought light should be used as a power source to create the power diamonds and power new technologies , while the “sun” clan thought light shouldn’t be trapped in diamonds and should exist freely and therefore shine like the sun. The power diamonds allowed the spirits to make new technologies at the cost of the environment, as seen by the trees that were cut down in hidden forest to make power diamonds, butterflies were also collected in pots from prairie and used in the production of the diamonds. The sun clan could have seen the damage this caused and wanted to stop the diamond clan. At some point the argument escalated into war. It seems the wasteland elder was part of the sun clan as their sun shield is laying by the meditation spot, however we don’t see it in the cutscene. I don’t know who won in the end, maybe the diamond clan, and after that they created the red diamond seen in Eden?

If Eden was sun, why was the big diamond there? Unless no one knew the dangers, and Eden was the big power in the kingdom so it made sense to put the biggest and best things there, and it was only as the big diamond collapsed and spread corruption that the two opposing forces fought?

Wastelands temple seems to be fortifying Vault, which serves as a way up to Eden. The large diamond in Eden and the pipes makes it seem like it would have been all for the whole tech at the cost of the environment thing

Possibly the people against using the tech was a small group of spirits not aligned with any one of the individual realms

That could justify the line “if only they had listened” in the intro, with a small group being against the construction of Eden, which seems to have been what led to the downfall of the spirits.

I don’t know how canonical it may be to the story, but that symbol of a butterfly in a jar is an old myth

It’s called Pandora’s box

#

The jar actually contained evils and diseases, and is an idiom similar to “opening a can of worms”

The one butterfly that the elder kept is a parallel to Zues closing the jar to keep Hope inside of the jar

The prairie end scene and the story of Pandora’s box are too similar to not be intentional, so I believe it does mean something

Our mission is to bring the elders back to their home. And when we come back to life it’s not that we are stuck in a cycle of dying, it’s jus that we are done with our mission and now we can go and enjoy the game. It would suck if the game ended after eden, but no they are letting us continue to play and now there are other missions such as bringing grandmas family back.

Also thinking on the diamond as an emblem of knowledge (or capturing knowledge in vault) the diamond at the end of Eden from a Abrahamic viewpoint "Eden" could be symbolic of the nature of good and evil. Though I don't like that interpretation, as it pulls a bit too much from outside the game itself.

As another point I didn't previously notice, the ones without banners appear as large one sided swords, the first of which is next to the diamond shield, whereas the spears are almost always near a sunburst buckler style shield

Though this one has a spear in, this diamond shield is more obviously a "kite" shield style, which would be more associated with sword fighting

Just as my first thought to the outcome of a war combining both symbols as we see in the wasteland elder

Another interpretation of direction could be the diamond shielded were the vanguard, and so further out than the round shielded guard. So if the battle turned against them, as it appears, they could be in retreat back to the temple.

Kite shields generally giving better protection than round shields (despite their awesome size)

About the shields, my sister suggested that the diamonds symbol may have been used to power up weaponry, like how you give light to the elder there and it goes into the diamond on his spear.

Though the spear banners in wasteland have the chevrons further inwards, pointing in, and there's no bars on the sides of the banner
They simply happen to share two chevrons in their designs, nothing else

Alright! I've finished measuring all of the elders! In a moment, I'll compile the heights into one message for easy access. However, as you look at these, don't take them as my final word just yet.

As you may notice, these sizes (particularly when you look at the wasteland elder compared to the others) are much different from how the elders appear in the vault mural cutscene. The sizes used from the individual cutscenes are larger, but makes the elders vary from each other much more (ranging from 5’2” to 15’5” individually), and those sizes put the forest elder at second tallest (right above wasteland) and the vault elder as the shortest.
I have already taken multiple screenshots in the mural cutscene oob that lets me take measurements from there, so, I ask everyone, should I use the individual measurements that are from each elder’s cutscene, or make new heights from the mural scene and stick to those instead?

Ah that reminds me, in the museum of wax, the Wasteland one shows spears with the kite style shields going towards a ribcage, so cannot entirely see who they are fighting.

though make sure you're using either no-hair or default male hair, and either use a chibi mask or know exactly which of the sizes your skykid is, use the default stance, and make sure to stand close to the elder with a clean, horizontal angle, as those are all required for accurate measurement pictures

They said in the livestream that the forest elder was based on lynx (bobcat), but I do agree it also looks like a nine-tailed fox, and it is fairly possible that they also had that fox in mind when drawing the elder with multiple tails.
btw the nine-tailed fox is originally a Chinese mythical creature but is also widely known (used to be believed) in many other Asian countries which have historically been deeply influenced by old Chinese cultures.
