It’s just intriguing to me how we see some of what appears to be the same structures throughout the game, especially, the beacon tower/bells from the prairie look just like the beacon/bells on top of the rising pavilions in the end of forest. Later we see many of the same or similar structures from the Valley in the Wasteland and especially later during the ascension. The buildings that get smashed in the ascension look identical to many of the oob buildings in the flying race from the valley. And then of course there’s the last few seconds of that video really looks like flying up through the vault and of course the elder stones from the top of the vault floating there at the end of the video @spring blaze posted earlier.
I mean if all the ruins are from the same society there will be reused architectural concepts. Some of that stuff looks a lot like it’s more that just similar concepts/designs.
From dev perspective it would mean just be reusing the game assets for faster development. But the structure kind of reminds me to hindu/buddhic things like the prayer wheel, theres also some obelisk I guess.
i also managed to get a close up pic of the bell on top of the eden gate in home
it has symbols on it though idk what it means
yeah from a dev perspective, its easier to just reuse assets but what looney said it would make sense if buildings looked alike in the sky world bc they're all in the same kingdom
I like to think we’re actually seeing some of the same buildings
As though the various locations are actually a progression through events
Recycled assets (dev) or common construction methods (lore) aside. What is the significance of the elder stone circle from the vault showing up there during the ascension....?
I have done what (probably) no one has ever done. I read through this entire discussion from the very beginning, which took me about 5-6 hours. Why? Because I'm a writer and I'm interested in compiling everyone's theories into one big story. Here's the thing: my specialty as a writer is worldbuilding/lore. In fact its my favorite thing to do, and I have a lot of experience in the area of worldbuilding. I took notes as I read and skimmed through, though it was hard at times because some of it was repeated and some was irrelevant, and I'm also tired because it's 3:30 in the morning where I am. I probably won't share my notes because they're near-illegible, (I was writing in pen and literally, instead of crossing things out, wrote over my mistakes. Plus my exhaustion makes my handwriting really sloppy) but if I end up sharing them, its 8 and a half pages of handwritten notes with almost every theory in this chat.
I didn't write down some theories if they were absurd (like Oreo being the King. I chuckled at that) or they clashed with already canon concepts and imagery. I also left out one or two theories I completely don't agree with (sorry if that's biased. none of the ones I disagreed with were major) Because I'm a student, it will be a while before I can properly compile everything together in order, as I have work and projects that I need to keep up with for school. It's likely I'll have a rough draft of the lore by the end of January 2020. I also plan on writing some fanfiction (which I don't normally do.) based around the lore discussed here. Also, I will keep up with new things posted to the best of my ability because I want to make sure I can have a detailed project. I know people have mentioned wanting a summary or a story detailing everything in this discussion and I wish I could get everything to you guys sooner, but I have the real world calling me. Plus it's 3:30am. Sorry if this was long to read. And sorry for disappointing those of you who saw this long paragraph and instantly thought "oooh! an elaborate theory!" It's really just me telling you guys that I made an achievement and I plan to compile theories. I don't normally say this much in a discussion chat, so again I apologize for the length.
Also, I would like to just point something out. Oil is FLAMMABLE. It can't put out our fire, it would just explode. Therefore, the liquid in the wasteland is not oil. Just polluted water. Someone mentioned the wasteland used to be a tropical place, so the liquid used to be water that was polluted by industrialization. A few people made this point of the liquid not being oil, but I don't really think it got noticed.
As a fellow writer and worldbuilder/lore lover here, massive kudos to you! :D
@spring blaze isn’t that Hebrew in the bell?
@icy sandal I too have read everything, but not in one sitting nor collated properly. I’m working on my own explanation of what lore we know and images from this channel into an album, I’m about 1/4th done with what information I have. Let’s DM?
It's not Hebrew, but I get where you're coming from. I can see how someone may think the swirl looks like a פ, and some designs are similar to a few letters.
There are Hebrew names for letters in some of the concept art though 👀
I like to think that Wasteland used to be underwater
Wow Eleris, I’m going to be so excited to see what you come up with! Massive kudos to you. I scrolled back a fair bit to attempt reading from the start but no, I ran out of sheer will when I saw how long the discussion was. 🙌👏
Wasteland used to be glorious, vast expanses of sea, rich architecture, lots of gold embellishments.... all fallen to ruin.
wasteland has the forest.. temple bell thing. the big disk with a gold diamond that spins and unlocks the door
its in the area of the first krill and the structures similar to forest. what do u guys think was in the graveyard area before the skeletons?
Not about the skeletons, but I like to think the broken down temple used to be the original temple for Wasteland, but after all the bad stuff happened, the temple broke down the the Elder shrine got moved
Which is why wasteland’s elder shrine is sort of less elaborated than the others
Oooh i like that idea!!!
ah that makes sense!!
maybe thats why the wasteland temple now is so.. protected? based on the shields and the hedgehog barriers around the door
the first temple was destroyed/broke down and they dont want the same to happen with the temple we have now
@spring blaze I like the thought that that dais in the first krill area is the same as the forest temple, though the rest of the layout of that room doesn’t work for that theory.
It makes more sense to believe that the 2 dais....s are similar due to being built by the same people.
Has this moon always been here, I got every lost child and after it shifted my view towards it
With the same kind of light beam from after fall
👀 || the moon also appears in Journey soooo||
And when looking at eden
And when you’re falling after death, it’s not down, it’s up
Inference from the hail falling up
How do you get the new cloak?
That’s beta
Ooooo okay
@zealous sedge I actually went into pinned messages and clicked on the first message of the group welcoming everyone to the chat. Thankfully the group is only a little less than 2 weeks old so although there was a lot to read through, it is a younger group.
@icy sandal Hats off to you, my good sir! As a fellow writer and worldbuilding/lore lover, I totally share your passion! I’m even in the process of world building a seperate project myself currently and continuing a story for my book. Kudos to you! Be sure to link me to your next big posts and fanfics. I’d love to read your stuff. 😁
Same here! @pseudo monolith
I have finished with album one version one of my lore summary. Album two is only images right now.
Enjoy the feast!

@hollow pier Excellent! I’ll look forward to reading it. 😉
Hey @hollow pier when compiling images and sharing them publicly, if you’re using pictures and screenshots that are not your own make sure to always mention the source and ask for their permission to post as well
Most people won’t mind if you share them with source but asking is a nice gesture that goes a long way, especially sharing them in a big server like this
All the screenshots are from this channel or my own @glad badger
I’m not sure who they’re from. Would crediting #lore-discussion-spoilers be acceptable
And a large number of screenshots from YouTube
Mine the one with the purple cape spirit and bow!
( also me in moth mode with level nine wing power and piano )
oh hold on lemme just change my nickname real quick and
there!
I mean you saved them from people that shared in this channel, surely you know who they’re from? I can recognize some from shira and Skymii for example
You can also credit the YouTube account you take them from
Which is you in moth mode? I can credit easily
If it’s underneath a person’s name here, you can usually assume it’s their picture
It’s tough work to credit, but it’s really appreciated because most people that see your album will probably not know who they’re from
Are you asking me to credit the images individually or is a credits section acceptable
Hmmm maybe with a little caption on the photo or something
like a photo tag
tho idk if thats possible
It can also come across as claiming the credit yourself if it’s not mentioned
I’ll just say now, if anyone reads the album and you’re not credited please ping me I will add you
This isn’t a mod call-out, your album will not be removed if there’s no credit. This is a personal suggestion because people can get rightfully upset if they see their image shared without credit
Most certainly not my intent to claim those as my own
It’s just basic internet etiquette and even if you don’t mean to claim them as your own, sharing without credit means just that
It’s similar to articles or papers where citing sources is a thing, too
I feel it's disrepectful @hollow pier not to make an effort to credit each and every image. It's on you, not the person who created it.
Well I’m making an effort literally right now
Maybe repost it once you've completed all the credits.
My suggestion for compilations is always: write down the source the moment you save the image. If you don’t know the source, don’t share it
This is my first time making something using screenshots like this so it’s a bit late for that. Initially I didn’t even intend on making this.
Again this is /version one/ and I haven’t even started on album two.
Oh! I wanted to pop in and give some context as to where this oob was in this photo i took, its actually behind the islands you see in the distance from home! Both islands have these drawings on them from the cutscene cause the camera will pan to them first and then onto your new skykid
More credit! Adding you now
@hollow pier Do the right thing and give credit for all those images or remove the post. It's only fair to those who created them.
@hushed steeple I just said I was giving credit and the mod said it was fine
Well yeah my suggestion was more for future albums you might do, because it’s harder to go back now and search for it, but still doable
OK that's great
Hold on, I said your post wouldn’t be removed because it’s not against the rules
You can do image searches in the channel, which makes posters easy to find
But the right thing to do is make sure every image is credited, not expect people to show up and claim it
It’s clear you’ve put work and time into the albums, so adding the credit will be relatively short work
Glad to help!
has: image in:spoilers-lore-discussion does wonders for you
Just know this is some constructive criticism and general reminder (for other people reading this too) why credit is so important. Just looking out for you and other members who shared things here
Unrelated but I noticed this for the first time today above the forest temple entrance, if anyone has any insight into it or theories I’d be interested in hearing it! it almost looks like a mask?
omg it does! Like the futuristic red fox mask
That reminds me of the king’s head with the darkstone
Maybe if we had a screenshot of the door when it’s closed we could tell what it is or what it means
the blue light on it kinda looks like the lightseeker emblem
True
@icy pewter It looks very similar to a thing in Journey's Underground.
It's been on that temple for a really long time too. Next time I'm in Journey I'll take a pic (unless posts one before me).
I really liked the old storyline, where she would lead the sky kids to the wrong path on purpose 👀
The level is so different now, would be interesting if they kept the mask there on purpose
@sand abyss which is the moth photo? I can only see you in the bow spirit pic
Mhmm! thats the one!
Oh I misunderstood, I thought it was that pic AND another one
Ah its ok ! Sorry about that
just saying that I was in moth mode while I was taking the photo of purple cape spirit
Hmm I might need to check on the spirits again if there's any changes
there's a lot of connections to ancient mythology that I've been picking up on (particularly the Ancient Near East mythology around Venus) and I have a doc with all the notes I've been taking and it's getting outrageous at this point lol
It seems that the aunt was forging one of those diamond things...
From the looks of Vault they seem almost like a projector of sorts
I only need credit for this image, no idea where from. Alternatively if someone wanted to take a replacement screenshot I’ll use that and credit you instead
how come these looks different than the rest
idk if thats a graphic thing or its something else
And that’s everyone on discord given credit in that first album.
what album?
Maybe those are the ones we light up? @spring blaze
maybe?
@hollow pier i have this if this is good
dawn’s a liiill cut off but its good
also this is what vault floor 3 looks like with chrome bug
really cool! looks like it started falling apart then idk magic
That’s perfect ginsy
that's a really cool photo!!! i never noticed all the little lanterns and blocks on level 3
Don't really know if this was discussed yet or not but I've always thought that this skeleton was a Krill but... Aren't Krills dark creatures and, therefore, the rain shouldn't affect them?
@vagrant oyster that’s been referred to in-game as the whale’s skeleton or the whale’s resting place... 👀
@spring blaze https://imgur.com/a/W6mXT4S
The whale is the light dragon if you didn’t know, so that’s a dragon skeleton
Ah, alright! Thanks!
Same skeleton type as wasteland and vault
Album one only needs to credit that Twitter user, I’ll find them soon
@hollow pier noticed it's blank on the album, Cameio#1234 is the one who posted the forest wasteland temple comparisons
or at least they have posted them before? not sure if it's the same images you use in your album
@wary prism I can’t see the message where they linked the tweet. It’s definitely from twitter, it was a Japanese user
oooo alrighty nevermind then! i meant that Cameio posted images that compared the forest wasteland temple in this channel before
i dont think thats eden. the eden castle looks more like a crown
i think this is the isle temple considering in beta you go on a boat to reach the temple if i remember correctly
Wasteland skeleton is much bigger and look like real dragon
yeah the skulls and ribs in wasteland and forest look different
maybe wasteland’s skulls are worn down but idk any creature that looks remotely like this boi
krills?
Its the whale's head! its a broken skull but the front of the whale is actually all spikey/rocky like that
one sec
it seems there used to be a lot more of those whale/fish before
ahh
ok that makes sense. i dont think i saw the whale with that helmet thing
though i did notice that the cosmic mantas have the yellow thing my the top of their heads
us: overthinking things and thinking we either figured it out or not
tgc: actually heres some concept art of that
this is concep art from their insta and gotta say, i’d love to see the aurora borealis in sky
How are Wasteland skeletons different? Aren’t they just bigger skeletons?
The skulls in Wasteland seem to be a different shape
(Interestingly, I saw someone on Twitter compare the shape of the skulls there to turtle skulls, and they looked basically the same 👀)
Though there’s nothing saying that there can’t be more than one creature whose bones we see
The bones in the forest and wasteland cannot be the bones of the big coelacanth-like fish, but I don't know if that's intentional.
I am curious, do you call a whale a big fish in English? or does it sound strange to you too?
No, a whale and a fish are definitely different things
I think it’s possible that the bones in Forest are from a baby whale-fish-dude-thing though
possibly
I think the giant bones in the Wasteland swamp/graveyard could be the whalefish, if only because that’s the biggest creature we see in the game, much larger than the krill even.
i was looking thru the pinned character design album and the ‘helmet’ of the whale art looks similar to the skull in forest
And there seem to be very few threads connecting the whalefish to the story as it is, so the bones would be helpful that way...
and there were multiple whale designs too
Yep, that too ginsy (dumb autocorrect)
apparently the bones werent even bones in the concept art. it was burnable charcoal
that was rlly interesting
haha its alright nagati

The bones look like whale's, I mean of the real whale on Earth
it does yeah
And I'd say they are not from the animals we can see alive in Sky
the thing about the skeletons in sky is that,, the ribs open. up unlike the typical skeletons we see irl where the ribs open down if ur lying stomach-first
im like “wheres the spine? under there probably” but then you see the skull and its upright but the ribs are upside down??
idk if thats intentional or not
I thought it was upside down
You mean in the forest?
I don't know if the head was up side down, but the body seems to be.
Yes, the upside down one is in the forest.
Spine could have collapsed?
The things on top of the spine look like they’re suppose to be spikes
Like a stegosaurus....just not a dinosaur ^^
Which doesn’t seem to match the whalefish’s body shape 🤔
hm possibly spikes yes
spines, back to front 🤔
but usually the spikes are by the back of the spine, not going thru the ribs
that must be painful
yeah
HMM
That’s why I thought the spine had collapsed/detached from the ribs to fall to the ground
@spring blaze fixed, says isle now
It looks as though someone reassembled the bones after it collapsed to the ground
Is this the whale helmet we’re talking about?
Edit: wrong link
It’s possible the whale or whatever it is in forest died on its back then the skull got rolled
It’s not like it’s attached anymore
Which image?
yes
I was talking about the ribs and spines
the head of that whale looks like the skull
The head bones look similar to that helmets in the image, yeah.
It reminds me of Placodermi (I googled it I just remembered there are ancient fish with hard skulls)
Like this one
oo it does!
Oh the photo in that concept art looks like Dunkleosteus fossil
ooh!
Ikr wish we had the first one
imagine the lil one floating around in prairies 🥺
I need that baby manta should I incubate
it’ll rlly bring out the “day: childhood” part from office
im sorry but the fact that they called this poor child “eMo Rain” makes me laugh
Forest elder in childhood
When puberty hits for the sky kid
Crab -> manta -> coelacanth 😱
Pokemon evolution at its finest
Why don’t krills evolve?
This one is on the prairie temple, but does not look like the prairie symbol in the art.
krills are their own species
also theyres creatures of darkness unlike mantas and whales
I doubt any of the skeletons anywhere are from the krills, the krills are definitely based on invertebrates and they don't have skeletons
^
im pretty sure the photo of the skull the devs used as reference in that concept pic is from the american museum of natural history, like I think I've seen that exact skull, gimme a min
yup, and it's a Dunkleosteus like @humble barn said
https://twitter.com/claudistics/status/850453991720964096 here it is in the museum
Great! I wanted to identify the museum but I couldn’t.
I was there earlier this year and spent an absurd amount of time in the fish room lol
I'm a zoologist & was studying fish at the time
We have a zoologist in the channel!! Do you agree with my opinion that koi in Sky ponds are Goldfish crackers?
does anyone disagree? haha
My friend found that the middle steeple of the wasteland citadel has a halo when seen from the shipwreck area. The citadel looks like a different building so maybe it's a residue of a previous design?
For comparison, this is a view from the graveyard.
And from the broken fortress in the battlefield.
@humble barn actually it’s an upside down Praire temple right?
is it?
I don't have a clue what it is. It looks like a moose to me, but highly unlikely...I think there is no trace of four-legged land mammals in Sky
wam, there are traces. We have seasonal masks of land mammals
No traces on this planet ☁️🌎⛅️
There’s bound to be other planets right? That the constellations hang over? Or maybe the megabird and spirits have always just lived in orbit around this planet
Maybe the orrery has four moons because the spirits remembered what it was like in orbit where they could see the giant planet beneath them and four smaller spheres in the background
So they’re small because they’re from the spirits limited perspective?
The sun would be another of the orrery moons then
Yo Pines actually told me about the ||Space Station at the Office|| and they told me some interesting points about that place
👀 thankfully I remember some points before i forgot
Something as big the megabird probably travels between worlds.. but maybe the megabird can only exist under the conditions of this planet?
If that’s the case maybe the diamond in Eden is just controlling a natural phenomenon, the beam of light and some force (gravity? Star magic?) into the sky
Ok so originally that space station was meant to be built for one of the old beta scene for orbit, but for some reason the Space Station gives a little too much of our modern world so the developers scrapped that idea and used it as an easteregg for the Office with the staffs who works remotely at office
I think
Gonna need to ask Pines more about this
that is interesting
That completely changes the lore! I think that’s maybe a case of beta lore not being accurate orrrrrr!!!!!
Check this out
hmm idk but sure change the current lore here
Maybe it was intended as a secret Easter egg area accessed from Eden
There’s so many secret areas on this map, 6 to be precise
Speaking of planets, lately I've been wondering whether Home is in the same world/planet as other levels or not.
Other levels were connected to each other and we can travel through Isle of Dawn to Eden without going back Home, but usually we can reach Home only through the gates (including the one in game options menu) and the bird statues. The game starts at Home, and we go back Home we reborn. (Also, the place where you are sent after you lose all your winged lights is in the Home map.)
Who created (activated) those gates? I don't think the gates were built by people of the sky kingdom, because if they could use this kind of magic/technology, they wouldn't have needed those ships.
That’s a super cute megabird reference
Also maybe
Those are totally megabird statues
Imagine having like a pokémon thing with the Megabird appear as your Fly companion
So the statues and going home represent connecting with the megabird
I say that neatly agrees with your theory that it may be on another planet
maybe but we still don’t have any evidence of it’s actually physical appearance
Maybe home is the same planet as the other water planet?
Hmm maybe maybe
We have the end credits, only time we see the megabird.
Oh actually maybe it’s another one of the spheres we see in the orrery?
So, moon, sun, home, still missing one
Maybe another moon? Or a sister planet? Or another star?
after seeing this i started thinking that we, the spirits, elders and star kids compose the megabird
but theres other concept art notes whete the bird picks us up or something during the end of eden
The images to the left make me think of an aura or pressure wave, some kind of force surrounding objects in motion. Have you read my imgur album? I think the megabird is a hivemind, like that aura is the “force” that is the megabird. If the megabird were a natural force of the universe like gravity this theory works
Love all your research here, particularly the long imgur thread by @hollow pier
Great work everyone! It´s really inspiring for creating new fanart.
Aaaaaa you’re most welcome, I hope it’s even better in the future
@split sleet Would you edit your post please? Political stuff and derogatory remarks about countries is off topic.
mb
So, what’s this?
its the skeleton of a whale
it doesnt look like the whale we have live but in the concept arts the whale looks likr the skeleton here
in the concept arts the colluseum in valley is reffered to as theatre meaning that it rlly wasnt used for war
and since valley is considered the capital it makes sense that they'd have a theatre for entertainment
i was surprised to see that forest was referred to as the factory, though considering the vault drawings and the forest elder it makes sense i guess
@hollow pier I actually confirmed with some of our friends that the water planet underneath the space station is the same one with the Home island!
We were just chillin in our table boat on the water, when our friend‘s game crashed, and when she came back online, we saw her icon appear by the little island in the distance. We could still chat, and she said she was at the Home island. Our other friend even warped to her and confirmed it was true!
Pretty sure this isn’t any spoiler stuff but remember this spirit’s story? I don’t have a photo of the story so I just have to ask. What do you think was the sphere they were holding around their shoulders?
what spirit is that?
The angry one
maybe the sphere is a ball of light?
forest is called the factory from the concept arts and from the forest elder we can see she made.. something (i don’t remember) using our flame in her cutscene, as well as the prairie elder making butterflies from our flame. so light is used to create and build in the sky kingdom
so maybe that spirit was carrying a ball of light to be shipped to the main factory or whatever and shes angry because its labour lol
Or maybe she’s angry because She lost her light
or that 😅 sometimes i feel like im overthinking it
Do we need to spoiler ||office|| related bits here?
yes as its a secret area
There's a ghost thing outside the entrance to the office. What is it? And does it relate to anything else in the game?
This is the spoiler lore channel so don’t worry about spoiler tagging things here
Ok, makes sense.
@rocky wing is it that weird transparent squid-like thingy
Yes, ghost-squid!
i was looking thru the history of the isle level (the album is pinned) and there was this weird bug in isle beta where this.. light thing was just there
i mentioned that it looked like the ghost squid and maybe it was a reference lol
Similar but not quite I think
Yes!
i only mentioned he looked like the bug haha i thought it was a reference
but now it's something else
thats actually adorable
i wanna ask the devs what it is now but ah, it would ruin the mystery
It kind of looks like a hand, but there's at least 7 legs/fingers
Maybe it's a prototype squid that would have been used with the jellyfish? It might be one of those things where it seemed like a good idea, but was actually hilariously bad. They wouldn't want that in the game, but in the office it's an entertaining extra.
hmm maybe!
imagine these lil guys floating around instead of the jellyfish we have now lol
(Also, somebody needs to ask the devs to show some of the funny things that happened during development when they do the next stream. There's sure to be some good footage 🙂 I'd ask, but I'm unlikely to ever watch the stream unless they do one for other devs...)
Were the elders using the stones as a proxy to project themselves to the surface from Orbit... or were they trapped on the surface as well, and completing their constellations gave them passage to Orbit?
Definitely the latter
Because we see them fall, they’re the six that fall in the intro
I think that ghost thing in office is just a reference to an old bug when the birds were stuck together
Fun fact Journey had something similar, there was a ribbon (there’s cloth creatures) by itself that had no purpose and was added by accident lost in the code somewhere
So it was kind of like a cloth tentacle, later they added it officially because fans loved it even had a name
I think it’s something similar
@rocky wing: Also, somebody needs to ask the devs to show some of the funny things that happened during development
I'm not a dev, but this accidentally made it into the beta last year and it still cracks me up 😂
edit: turn your sound on, kids. Sound is over half the experience ;)

Didn't Tim and Scott mention they need to make a blooper reel during the last livestream? We have to keep asking for that!
how did this even happen????
IIRC they said they put it in there as an audio sticky note to go back and change
It was a placeholder sound that ... uh they forgot to replace.
and then...they didn't
That honestly scared me the first time I heard it
It was hilarious, we loved it.
And then I was like wait... what??
Hahaha
Rewatch, rewatch

oh lol i was watching it without sound and had no clue what was wrong
Wheeeezee imagine putting that sound for the game rn
Same thing for the pink texture that happened in Valley the other week- sticky note for change
But this is way funnier
...this was the second best thing ive seen all week
Bless this vid don’t let anyone touch it
Now we need a squeaky toy in Office
We assume because of their rigid appearance that Elders are tough, hardened, rock-solid entities, but in reality they are all very soft and cuddly. Yes, even Wasteland elder, just a big boi who gives big hugs. Squeeze their cheeks and they go squish, and bumping into their big torsos makes a sound like a bicycle horn
You have no idea how hard it was to contain my laughter at that video. I'm on the quietest study floor of the library, so I really can't be making any sounds like dying of laughter.
Well...out of everything I expected from that video, that wasn't one of them lololol
That was unexpected!
@hollow pier I just read your lore theories. You’ve got some pretty neat ideas there! I thought the time theory was particularly interesting. I hadn’t notice the possible connections there. I also agree that the mystery figure in the Eden constellation at the Vault is particularly tricky to figure out. That one sends me for a loop.
I originally wrote this in my earlier time as a beta tester. These were my first thoughts and attempts to decipher Sky’s world and story while it was still in development. Feel free to read, everyone! - even just for the fun of it! 😊
ooh
ah i can't open that file for some reason?
@wary prism Does your device accept Microsoft Word better?
@surreal spire Thanks!
if you have mac then text edit or preview should work
if PC then notepad should too?
ooo i'll try that
I wrote this on my ipad (2018) on my Pages App.
notepad++ works on everything
nice
when i think of theories though i end up thinking of things from like hyperlight drifter
ouf notepad, took that a bit too literally
Oh my. Give me a sec. I’ll resend the document.
Okay. Let’s see if this Microsoft Word format works better for you guys! 😊
that works!
@wary prism Don’t worry. It was no hassle at all. I can also try more formats if that still didn’t work.
@wary prism Yay!
eyy word, back at it again with decent format options
Took a look at it, I really like it @pseudo monolith!
Though if the last of your theories is true (where the descendants would be sent back if they haven't retrieved all of the lights yet) what about those who actually completed the constellations & saved every statue in Eden?
(This may also be trying to apply the beta story to our current live, thus not everything might work)
@hushed steeple Thanks! 😊
Yeah, these were early ideas of mine and may no longer work in the game’s current state. As well as the fact that the presence of newer content means content I didn’t get to apply. However, it’s a start, and I do think revising a newer short story to better fit in would be a fun mini project to me.
Agreed!
I was kinda hoping that completing all the constellations would net you a "true" ending of some sort
i need to steep myself in the lore more
i love the game so much and its been like 72 hours since i started p much
Btw so to "complete" (using this term loosely) collectible wise you just complete all the constellations right?
Btw I do wonder what the hearts and candles do when you give them to the spirits...are you strengthening them or something?
Maybe giving them light they can use to...idk, create a new kingdom or something?
Or rebuild their old one
Okay awesome cause that's what I'm trying to do rn! I already completed Isle; I'm almost done with prarie
Unlocking each elder’s hairstyle is your reward. 😉
Theory #1 seems to work out pretty well in live! Although the shiver spirit seems to indicate that the spirits do get effected by the rain though so maybe they are light based? The sky kids do seem to be different beings than the spirits though. Skymii made a good observation on the hands on hips stance's cutscene where there is a little kid spirit that looks drastically different from the player avatars.
Yeah. Like I wrote, I noted how very ‘fire’ element based our avatars seem to be. Almost like we literally were made of literal stars.
I do kinda wonder about the kid spirit...
Yes, I’m still speculating on the more distinctive differences between us and them. During beta, they didn’t used to look like glowing children. They were simple star shapes.
So I hadn’t speculated on that at the time.
is there a place you guys use for more in depth analysis of the basic lore?
I believe this channel is indeed the place.
... i dont know what i expected tbh...
Well when it comes to all this plot, backstory, and lore that’s what this stream is for! And I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the managers adding something like this. It’s more up my alley and easier for me to jump into conversations with.
mhm, especially for games like this, lore is some of the things i find so fun about them
did you base your theories off of just the in game stuff or was there like a generally accepted theory before hand?
Majority of it came from my own mind after extensive playthroughs while I wrote my reports.
nice
Not to say that I don’t find listening to other people’s lores and theories just as much. 😉
i agree with you on alot of the points, except the part about humans
I just equally enjoy coming up with stuff on my own, and try to be original in my ideas.
and that mountain peak is a portal
Funny thing about the mountain peak portal theory, that was before it was made far more obvious upon my initial writing.
ah fair
and honestly i still think it has some merit
i mean come on it's firing a big laser at the heavens
It used to be that it was possible to get through the Storm without dying, and you entered a buidling that all of a sudden put you in the stars. It was all very confusing at the time.
oh wow, yeah that's different
Yep. But the the Storm looks a lot different now than it did then. . . . a loooot different. 🙂
my interpretation is that the elders themselves were a sort of deities to a society of humans. The humans built grand structures/temples underneath the corresponding constellations in tribute to them. At one point these humans learn how to gather the energy originally given by the gods (star energy or whatnot) to construct metal extractors and reactors no longer needing to worship the gods.
also these sort of constellations are scattered throughout prairies
idk if theyre a beta thing or a lore thing
any of you seen Atlantis: Lost empire by Disney?
sadly no haha
Those were for early discontinued minigames, where you collected light to generate star animals
I dont’ know exaclty why they were taken out
you dont need to it isnt the best movie but i liked it cuz i was like 5 when i saw it
dang its just a beta thing :<
As for Atlantis. Yes! I love that movie! I grew up enjoying it, and Kida is still one of the best disney princesses!
eyy my mans
if that does not deserve a friend request i dont know what does
anyways it may be bias' from other mediums but i feel like the krill are machines, or at least bio-machines
oh yeah ive heard of that
Well, they do float by with clicky/grinding sounds - kinda like somekind of rock based machine.
the kicker for me is when you get 3 that come by and the lights flicker on
Almost like the D’ni people’s tech from the Myst series. Particularly Myst: the Book of Tiana
maybe they were simply patrol machinery until it got corrupted. because from the concept arts it says that the energy/light/whatever the spirits used to make tech was also the source of their corruption (if i recall)
i dont know what one, im coming from a background of hyper light drifter lore that i read + breath of the wild guardian stalker trauma
i think that the patrols are doing their job correctly actually, stop anything from reaching the machine at the summit
like "cool we can make tech! but we should be careful around these things" but something went wrong?
ooo that would work with the "if only they had listened" line from the intro
sadly that machine is either a) hurting the elders and our avatars by accident b) or it is doing whatever it's doing on purpose
Ah . . the classic Dr. Frankenstein Syndrome. . .
i love stories about hubris
yeah theyre doing their patrolling right, but in a kingdom of literally light, i don't think they shoulda been targetting us sky kids if they were man-made
something went wrong
@surreal spire I’ll bet greek mythology is your fave then. 😉
Sweet!
btw do the blue darkness plants deal dmg?
if not then i can fit them into a specific category of my theory
They don’t really harm you.
hecc yeah
@spring blaze Or the Krill came from elsewhere entirely.
That they were corrupted machines or that they orginated from somplace else?
originated from someplace else
Ah. I see. 🙂
i believed that theyre a separate species or whatever. machinery didnt even cross my mind lol
@surreal spire https://imgur.com/a/W6mXT4S you asked for a summary? This is version 1.1, and album two is only images right now
Eden and krill are album two content so nothing on them yet
Here's what i think went down: Humans initially worshipped the elders, which were deities of some kind. In true Prometheus fashion they granted humans with a fire that would power their technology. But humans being humans went and separated themselves from the deities, learning how to harness these forces without divine aid. They made massive pipes to suck in the energy around nature and started to concentrate light at a reactor at the summit of the mountain. They then realized that they went over krill with the recovery of the light and inadvertently started a sort of pollution that caused dangerous effect like the red plants that grow in the vicinity of light and deal damage. To remove this pollution they create plants that would concentrate the darkness while being easy to purify with light. The humans also made sure to protect their reactor by creating the krill, by either basing them off of the manta, or flat out using the bones of the manta as the base structure. The humans have long since died off and the elders are left with a world that they can't traverse due to the lack of light, so they make the children of the skies to go and purify the dark and try to restore balance to the land by deactivating the reactor at the mountain top.
oh sweet sources
Neat ideas, @surreal spire
👍🏻
Well, I’m going to retire for the night. I’ll check in tomorrow. 😉
cya
@surreal spire you missed the perfect opportunity to say overkrill
... lemme edit taht
PERFECT
I see you are a man of culture as well
look at all these theorists, i must friend them all
Also my album mostly agrees with you. The very first isle shows three capeless spirits watching as the elders fall
So we have the Isle elder giving these spirits Soul Flame in a mural, maybe what the elder is actually doing is connecting them to the megabird and trying to spread light and enlightenment?
OH
i think that the field around the eye of eden is actually what happens whenever a child of the sky dies
their physical black bodies are left behind and sometimes their light is scattered around the world making the winged lights
Maybe the temples were where the spirits could connect with the megabird??? Which would explain why they had the shrines to the elders when they were still a civilisation!
oh yeah the megabird, this i dont have much info about, please enlighten me
What do you mean by the eye of Eden, do you mean the glowing diamond?
or actually i guess that would be orbit then
what i meant up there was the black bodies around the reactor thing
which is the eye of eden?
The reactor, or the Eye is definitely a giant diamond like from Vault or Forest
They’re definitely a computing system of a kind and if the Eye isn’t a conduit it’s at least a battery
You can read all about the megabird in my album!
It seems like each winged light is the soul of a statue though
Do you have a link to your album @hollow pier?
Actually how many wing are there in the world
69
The spirits that give emotes and what not lead to a black husk that is purified by light
But there are only 63 statues
I linked it above
63...why not 64?
BOOM
Two of them are corrupted like this
And another two straight up BREAK when rocks hit them
Uhh where is this?
It also explains the increase of winged lights when you get closer to the eye of eden
Increase?
I never noticed that actually
I think the OH
Well I did notice crystals but not the kids themselves
The problem I have rn is the fragility of the winged lights if YOU lose them
And the fact that they return to their original places
OH MY. So if winged light is the connection to the megabird the elders give the spirits, who usually don’t have Soul Flame then winged light isn’t their souls just the power/connection the elders gave them
Yeah?
I think it’s like an energy source that drives the black bodies they inhabit
The active energy is a flame
But when that burns out your left with the core that generates the light aka the winged light
The wing returning to their original spots might not be a lore thing, could just be a game limitation
Yeah but I always try to make space for lore
But my explanations for winged light spawn is conjecture at best
Maybe the spirits, those capeless people that were around before the elders fell, are still creatures of light but without much flame. They’d be fine without being given winged light and if it’s taken away, only when their innate light is taken would they become statues. All the other native creatures of this planet are light based creatures so the native spirits being creatures of light makes sense..
I think they existed when there was more light?
Wdym?
Or that they are actually related to the elders while the children of the sky were created instead
That part of your theories I agreed with
Concept art says the kids are hybrids, so if they were hybrids between elders and spirits that works
Well they are all different forms of the light energy
But they have varying degrees of power and whatnot
But the spirits are like demigods to me
They have the forms of spirits but lave less power than the elders
Or they are the same as the elders in terms of what they are but the elders are older and wiser so more powerful, and the spirits have physical bodies that they are more tethered to
Do you mean the spirits are like demigods or the elders?
It’s two different interpretations
Like they’re the same species but the spirits have a body they are fairly strongly tethered to while the elders do not
Children of the sky are like spirits since they have bodies but they are much looser in their connection in a way
Or the spirits are their own thing
Those are the 2 interpretations
If I’m going on the theory that the spirits were here before the elders I’d think they were different species hang on need to read intro
I mean, the winged light is also called children of light iirc
Kk yeah refresh me I’m kinda going off of memory
And my headcannon is that elders are basically the spirits but more powerful
Like the elders are older, wiser (possibly immortal?) spirits that lead the other spirits
Thus why they're tied to a temple and everything
Maybe the elders make some sort of Sky council
^
Yeah like a pantheon if gods
I don’t think they’re tied to a temple though
More like it’s the only way to communicate with them unless u go to orbit
I mean each region has its own temple with its own elder inside
So each elder would lead their own region
“Bring our lost stars home” this is what grabbed my interest, because in the intro only the six lights fall (presumably the elders) but we don’t bring the elders home
Yeah
Just the winged light which again, is possibly been gifted to the spirits
I feel like the stars are referring to either a.) the winged lights or b.) the spirits
Though I'm leaning towards the latter personally
Going with this theory A makes more sense
Because you’re bringing the lost stars home and if the spirits are native that would mean bring the winged light
A is related to the Reactor not the purpose though
Yeah but the statues reset every week which is...odd from a lore perspective
Since the spirits are already home
Like why would the statures return every week?
I mean the statues aren't home until we rescue them the first time
And they show up in the constellation
Time travel or story/game limitations
Maybe you need to pray to them
Continuous faith to have power from the deities
I’ve only played for like 3 days so I’m going off a whim here
It makes more sense that you’re bringing the spirits home not the Soul Flame, especially because the notes of light that are the spirits go up to orbit after visiting the temple
It’s definitely part of the main mission considering all of Eden
My interpretation is that the sky kids were meant to go save the spirits that were stuck
And go deactivate the eye of eden
So you save the dudes but the first wave of sky kids just die from the reactor leaving their winged lights scattered around
And then the mission changes to go save them as well
It’s a weaker part of my theory tbh but that’s what I’m going with rn
It makes sense though since we're always forced to die there
But if there are 63 statues why are there 69 winged lights?
Where did the other 6 come from?
What if the kids around the Eye are the spirits bodies, the winged light is the SFlame the elders gave them and the motes that we see ascend to orbit are their innate light they had before they got SFlame
That’s my theory atm
@hushed steeple I addresses that half an hour ago I think haha, there’s at least four corrupt/permadead kids just before the wing in Eden
And there’s no reason why the bodies can’t break
There’s two of these permadead kid bodies that the player only see for a second or two before rocks destroy them
Literally “oh what’s that it’s gone”
Yeet, my theory holds!
Brings the body count up to 67
Hmm
We can be lazy and say that 2 more are either buried or something I dunno
But yeah I’m all ears for an explanation for the last 2
That’s almost canon, in beta there were two dead kids in isle
Weren't there 4 permadead kids?
They were covered by sand
Boom roll credits
Time has passed more sand has covered them imho
There are four yes, two break and two don’t
Are there dead kids on any other level?
I dunno im thinking about that
I’m planning to collect my theories onto one page and then make a list of stuff I need to find for evidence
Then I’ll play and do a little archeological expedition
You can join me for that, would be easier to investigate the dangerous areas with a friend in hand
That’s what I want my albums to be, collected references to draw theories from
I'm doing Eden right now and I saw 2 of the kids you were talking about!
Noice
idk if we can make anything of it but i like the imagery on the doors, usually depicts sky people bringing the “light” up to sky
the same little row of buildings is present at eden too, right at the start of the second section
ohh it looks like it would’ve functioned the same as other doors like it but obviously it’s broken
i don’t have anything to say about it just thought it was interest
It kinda looks like the portals in aviary around the eden gate
The things on the sides look a bit like the portal arches? Might be a bit of a stretch
That’s straight up a statue of the king 👑
There’s three of them, including a broken one around here, also there’s this symbol above the gate
Which was the constellation for Vault in the beta
I’m compiling the full text
It shows how much the lore has been changed around to suit gameplay
Yeah it says the storm was sealed behind the gate, never to be opened with their blessings...then says they traveled to the temples and returned with their blessings which confused me
Long ago the ancestors sealed the storm behind the great gate, never to be reopened without their blessings. For ages they’ve waited in their distant lands, journey to their temples... ...and return with their blessings.
Yeah
For as long as stars fell, ancestors shepherded light to the sky. That was...until the great Storm. Now, they await you in their distant temples... ...eager for your help returning the light. Journey to their lands and recover their light. Together we will replenish the stars.
Really changed to fit the gameplay hahaha
There’s not even darkness to fear in these
Also noteworthy the Eye used to be a pillar of light with antigravity powers
And now it's a diamond thing
Makes me think the Eye was definitely constructed around some natural phenomenon
So what lore hasn’t changed from beta? The megabird? Is that it...?
But in current Eden though in the second section there's all those pipes and sludge
And whatever on earth the red crystals are
What on earth were they constructing then?
A star magic dam
Dam?
Maybe?
The pipes do lead in the direction of the Eye
Oh I like this idea, so our current lore is all about fighting the darkness the Eye is probably their answer to the conflict
@sudden sleet thanks, that’s hilarious! I’m sure the devs have seen a lot of things like this 😄
Its nuclear reactor jsksjks
What does “jsksjks” mean?
Ah, well anyways I looked at wasteland again, other than the statues of the king in the elder scene we learn nothing, even old beta wasteland elder had the same information less cutscene
The old elder shrine was where the cutscene took place and the same thing happens, just a big scary elder with a giant sword and shield
We put the light in his spear then he casts a light for us the camera pans up and that’s it
It does pan up at the wasteland/vault temple though
With what appears to be another statue of the king, maybe. I’ll take a closer look at wasteland with a friend to help later
Is this a new channel?
It was added last week
a new lead to follow up on
The vault seem to be a big elevator with Eden at the top.. but in the beginning of the game, it show the 7 realms and the one of the vault isn’t even under Eden...
In aviary to enter vault you actually did need to go underground
It’s a mural, they show the temples in the order the levels are in and isn’t supposed to be a 1:1 map
I was wondering, why does meditating at Vault shrine turn it from a space dome into a regular room made out of stone? Do you get teleported? Is Vault past the first level an illusion?
Yeah a lot of people including me believe it’s an illusion and all the levels are just memories
hence watching the spirits go through their motions
Actually I don’t know if a lot of people just me and some friends agreed that’s probably it
the room u enter after seeing vault cutscene is pretty much floor 1 vault but broken and eden’s right ahead
So was it unbroken before we entered?
And what about the spirits and winged light we saved there?
dunno
that's whats confusing
the format of that room looks exactly like the first level floor. considering how we just came from vault it doesnt make sense on why vaults suddenly in ruins
The vault honestly has a lot of unexplained lore to it..and is more of a mystery than any other level
I think its proximity to Eden must be why it seems to defy physics
Ive talked earlier about how the eye of eden seems to mess with gravity and physics in general
Also the Vault’s diamond is very powerful...it seems to be capable of harnessing light/soul flame to alter reality in different ways. It acts as a projector as well as a generator for the elevator
And given that there’s a diamond motif found literally evERYWHERE in the game, it seems pretty darn important to Sky’s lore
Its possible they built their entire society around some kind of diamond. It’s found in architecture, clothing, and tools
Iirc TGC said it was an illusion...so was the whole entire thing except for the very end an illusion?
Or maybe it was only able to hold out until Eden messed it up?
diamonds and triangles are pretty much the core design of sky, not just the tech diamond
its on our shirts and pants
diamonds are used to hold buildings up/make them float
its in their architecture and art
(referring to the pots)
Each level is more technologically advanced than the one before. Isle only has the temple door, prairie has the elevator, forest has elevating steps and moving platforms, valley is prosperous and richly decorated (no further advances), wasteland is in ruins, and vault is so heavy with power from the light that it transcends time and space itself, but it ends up broken because the power was too strong to contain ... leading us to Eden.
What if vault is the Eden diamond? It’s the only level you don’t see Eden looming menacingly in the background
I mean, for Vault it makes sense we don't see Eden cause we're inside a building
And if vault was the Eden diamond are we just going in a circle then, from Vault to Eden? The transition from Vault to Eden then doesn't really make sense...
Also we don't see Eden (at least not very well cause it's blocked by a temple) from the beginning of Isle either
This true. The above was more a stream of thought. Vault is an enigma for sure.
The rest of your theory does make sense though
(Also, sorry if I came off as defensive of confrontational up there. It wasn't my intention to)
hey axiom
I had a look at the top of the wasteland temple, which is connected directly to vault
The picture with the table is the top of wasteland temple, looks like an amazing King statue, but looks very different from shipwreck
The last pic is of the king statues I pointed out yesterday
Theres also some on the edge of the krill swamp graveyard area too, the path that leads to the battlefield
perhaps it used to be the old entrance to the royal quarters of the city?
also that second photo, the diamond almost looks like an eye, with the gold lining looking like a top of a cloak or something 👀
Yeah :O
this is just my own personal theory, but i like to think that vault was the royal library, and eden itself sort of the grounds surrounding the palace, with the actual palace itself being broken apart
👀 I really like that theory
And it really makes sense too with the king/prince thing and all in the beta lore
maybe a large courtyard in front-the red rock area would be perfect for that
Yeah! And it's on top of this huge mountain and everything
it also seems very grand as well, they have those large statues out there
yeah!!
id like to think that perhaps the big eden diamond was brought out to show a gathering of civilians or something along those lines-perhaps the eden vault drawing even depicts the king showing off this new power source in front of the crowds
only for it to all go wrong
which maybe could be why theres so many trapped soul statues left there and also on the path up to eden itself. they were caught in the initial blast
No you didn’t at all @/Axiom, Master of 折鶴#6944 🤗
@icy pewter OMG seriously that really makes the most sense
I really really love this theory
And yay @zealous sedge!
red rock area, perhaps something like this outer court?
the tunnel we walk through, almost like the gate into this court
the star tunnel that the krill patrolls could be something like this which leads into the outer court and castle grounds
ooooo
this but like, on a much grander scale haha. it would make sense from a defensible standpoint though having it on the mountaintop! high ground and whatnot
Omg I really love this

(Also where is that last pic?! I wanna go visit!)
Oh it also kinda reminds me of the villages in Prairie too!
OMG I had a feeling it was gonna be in Scotland or Ireland! Both of those places have amazing medieval castles from what I've heard!
i wonder what gave the krill the patrol routes though that they have now...they seem very mechanical. maybe they were once used by the ancestors and became corrupted? perhaps they were a sort of guard? it could explain why theres one that patrols the area right by that star tunnel (which could be the gatehouse entrance)
they also sound very mechanical, combined with their eyes that switch from red to blue....theyre all spikey and jerky compared to the organic forms like the mantas and the whale
Maybe they were castle guards, yeah
Maybe they broke down cause no one was maintaining them
theyre all in the area surrounding the royal grounds. like wasteland feels like it used to be a place of great importance-formerly a shining golden city perhaps that surrounded the palace and the royal areas of whatever city it used to be
definitely had some ties though with the palace considering how many king motifs there are in it! i forgot to take a picture, but even the entrance to vault from the wasteland temple has a king motif in the latticework
(though its upside down, with the pointed head hanging downward)
and yeah!! perhaps when the eden diamond had its catastrophe it messed up the krills and turned them into what they are now
hmmm
Is the royal library that contains all of the kingdoms' knowledge
This is sort of where journey and sky link for me. The war machines are an early itineration of the krill.
Then the other regions are like...duchies?
yeah!!
and yes that exactly boon!!
war machines were used for good and helping farmers maintain the land
before they got corrupted by the journey ancestors and used for war
Mhmm
I could see that axiom! like theyre still leaders in their own right and heads of their respective...duties i guess? but subservient to a king figure
Yeah exactly!
they seem almost like a council too in the way their elder stones are placed
Yep, a council under the king
Or led by the king
So a royal council more or less
I do wonder if all of the elders are related by blood
lead historian, leader of the guard, prairie and isle both seem farmlike to me-perhaps isle used to be a farmland for light that they then sent off to prairie to be processed into those butterflies
Like a royal family or something
which are then used and placed into the diamonds crafted by the forest people?
So they turn butterflies into diamonds?
valleys still kind of ??? to me but they could just be some sort of champions
Wait though but there's like literally no evidence of civilization at all in Isle except for that one temple
Everything else is just dunes
maybe the butterflies are a refined version of the raw 'crop' to be made and used by other things
like how wheat will get ground into flour
and then made into bread
Oh and maybe the diamonds in forest were shipped off to valley to create their buildings and ice rink and stadium!
The glowy spheres in citadel seem to mess with gravity a bit? The area has an updraft and there’s a tower there that’s breaking apart but still floating
ooh like valley is a demonstration of the civilization in its height, using this technology
yeah maybe they harness gravity and therefore flight from this refined light (aka butterflies)
Also fun note you can bounce in the clouds in the citadel :D
It's really cute and relaxing lol
butterflies raise you up, when their light is placed into the diamonds the ancestors used, it grants antigrav properties
which is how the elevator would raise too, and why edens castle is half floating in the air
OMG YOU'RE RIGHT
LIKE IN VAULT!
(Sorry got excited)
This is really coming together now!
(also can be used to store knowledge too ig, i still like to think that youre recording your story through the kingdoms everytime you meet with the vault elder and put your light into the diamond 😄 )
Yep!
Though how would they "farm" light in Isle?
I mean we see murals of boats but that doesn't really tell us anything
Other than...there were boats the ancestors used
im not sure
I also sorta feel like it's a callback to the beta with the flying boats
(oh also the flying boats have diamonds along their sides so it does seem pretty evidenced that the diamonds can grant flight/antigrav abilities. good eye on the diamonds under the buildings and bridge pieces in forest and valley ginsy!)
the boats seem to be used to ship light from isle->prairie->forest
And in one of the abandoned boats in the prairie caves!
theres a dock you can see in the first room of forest and the murals depict prairie pots arriving in by boat
A dock? Where at?
I'll have to go back in there and look sometime!
(Though I am in the middle of doing a winged light run atm in valley but I'll check after...)
Okies!
Ooh omg'
In the boats too!
Makes me wonder...was Forest always rainy? Wouldn't it have damaged the butterflies- Wait no cause there are butterflies in the last part of Forest
i do wonder if it was always rainy though yeah
or maybe it used to be like forests end
or that one sunny spot in forest
the butterflies don’t seem to be affected by rains
And the treehouses...were those for the spirits and stuff to live in?
We only see like 3 of those throughout the whole place
Wait there's that rope bridge in the sunny area but no evidence of housing
probably for resting or something
The shiver spirit makes it seem like rain did exist there when they were alive
i wonder if the spirits are all from the same point in time
some seem like they were from before edenpocalypse and others after
like wasteland spirits seems like they all take place in a time of great struggle and tragedy, while vaults and prairies seems like it was in the high point of the ancestors civilization
valley too
maybe some of the forest spirits are a mix?
like crying cave seems like it would have taken place post edenpocalypse
I feel like the war would've taken place like after valley though
Wait did Eden cause the war specifically though?
Wait
There was that shipwreck in Wasteland
With the golden jars spilling out of the ripped hull
What if those were the same ones carrying the butterflies?
yeah! someone mentioned here that maybe they were supplies
hmmmm
i wonder where the other figure the salute spirit salutes to is sailing off to
safety? or maybe an assigned mission?
I don't remember the salute spirit one much since we were kinda rushing to grab it and move on
I would assume a mission though
And wait though
Cause what on earth would a giant ship be needing to carry butterflies for
Unless the butterflies were like, vital for making war supplies or something
I think they were saluting to people on a boat like the ones in prairie
Or weapons
could be for the palace or potentially a city that used to be in the area of wasteland before it became..well a wasteland
yeah they saluted people on a smaller ship which sails off into the distance
Ah I see
lemme see if i can find a clip of it on a wasteland walkthrough perhaps!
Maybe the ones on the smaller ship were heading off to war?
Or maybe trying to salvage supplies?
Ooh
he starts off kneeling next to a LOT of bodies
(though theyre just tombstones now)
so it seems like it happened presumably after a disaster of some kind
he seems to struggle even making it to the top of the ship
ooh hangon
maybe saluting a survivor that is sailing off in one of the lifeboats after a disaster
cause look at this
see the small boat shes jumping on?
yeah!
Maybe it didn’t have enough energy to carry them both? And since the spirit was already injured they stayed behind
So like nearly everyone this spirit (I'm assuming he's a soldier) was with died except for this one survivor
I believe the spirit also saw off another boat sailing off (which is not on the video because someone else completed the spirit)
Maybe like it was an army or something and everyone got wiped out by the krill; that spirit on the boat is the soldier's commander who was sent off for safety
lifeboats on large ships would hang off the side like that
So that spirit is a soldier
oh i can see that ansolas
In fact I feel like all of the wasteland spirits are soldiers of some kind, maybe under the same army
I think there were 2 ppl on the other ship but I couldn't find a screenshot though
Different battalions maybe
hes wounded so he volunteers to stay behind while sending the lesser injured person off
yeah theres a big military presence to wasteland
obviously the elder. lookout spirit seems like it too
and play dead
sneak stance seems like a spy
espionage type
another video of the lookout spirit
the first boat crashes on a rock 😦
or maybe is smashed by something (krill?) and then now is just the remains
The sneak stance cutscene makes it seem like he’s hiding from the krill
definitely!
Would most of the wasteland spirits be from after the vault was built?
yeah i would imagine so myself
wastelands spirits seem like theyre trying to survive in a world thats dangerous
vault and its spirits dont seem to have that feeling of desperation and struggle to survive that the wasteland spirits seem to have
The graves in the pray room seem to indicate that vault was built after some of the more troublesome things occurred though
True
maybe its sorta like a religious building as well-like how a monastery will have a cemetery for the monks that live there
Ooo maybe
Hmm made me curious as to why there’s a boat down here, did the spirits of the Valley abandoned the way of the past and moved on?
plus there’s only one boat out of the entire Valley
i think it'd be hilarious if it was some sledding gone wrong
it crashed through the ice and no one really bothered to get it back out and its sat there ever since
i mean from the look of the Valley there seem to be two places that do not have boats and butterflies and that is Valley and Vault ( well aside from that one boat but you know what i mean )
fpfppfpfpf maybe maybe
omg
imagine like a secret tunnel or something that’s underneath the ice rink
omg
omg, Imagine fl0w EASTER EGG over there !!!
gosh that’ll be so perfect honestly !!!
ANYHOW
why would there be like only one boat there ???
where did the rest went ?
What about the passage from forest to valley, are there boats there?
The flying boats are everywhere except inside buildings (vault) are there boats in Eden?
Hmmm no
from what i remember there’s no sight of the boats from forest to valley
since that the cloud tunnel that leads you to Valley has birds flying through there
i vaguely recall seeing at least one boat in forest
Yaa
Here are the boats (fireworks is there because it was too dark)
Every area has spirits... except Eden. What happened to the spirits there?
That's what happened elsewhere 😉 Spirits. But Eden doesn't even have spirits.
from a gameplay perspective it makes sense i suppose, but from a lore perspective, they could be the darkness trapped figures you see. Or couldve been completely eradicated
theres darkness covered figures on that last hill up into edens star hallway (palace gatehouse?) that have crystal shards poking through and also that get obliterated by rocks. And then all the statues in the red rock area (palace’s outer courtyard maybe)
Like their very spirits are trapped
I feel like people who are ahead of you and open the door in Golden Wasteland while you're not close enough to run inside to safety while the krill come is like the biggest betrayal in the game
Sometimes theyre new players who arent aware it summons krill
oh yeah i had a brush with death yesterday because of that
