how big would the big mask make u tho
imagine seeing some massive sky kid just stomping around 😂
A bit taller 🤔
theres already a resize spell
and ive been stuck as a slightly concerningly taller sky kid
So we are kid size
ye
Taller sky kid = pre teen
We’re the size we are in office
Chibi sky kid = 3 yrs old toddler
Chibi are about 70-80cm
Regular kids around idk, 120? 140?
WHY ARE THEY MAKING BABIES FACING THE KRILL
wait so if u have the resize spell for being larger are u a pre teen
or a teen
cuz i look awkward amongst everyone else sghadg
U r tol bb
Idk
Maybe we’re all the size we are because our fire isn’t big enough
Resize spells and chibi mask are just star magic
Hmmm hold on lemme see if i pull that same image of heights between the spirit ( purple cape spirit) and me ( reminder i’m slightly shorter than average but still taller than chibi )
When our fire grows we get older?
man i was like "im sure permanent isnt permanent" and used TWO resize spells
ig im never gonna be regular sized again lol
the regular size would be where the light hole at from the lantern ( in the pic )
i miss being regular sized
👀 the second pic seem, interesting. Was it there before????
also you might wanna move the picture over to #screenshots-and-videos with the spoiler tag ( check on the pinned message at #screenshots-and-videos on how to do it, will need Icloud for this to work) since this place is for lores/discussion only @raven sierra !
Sorry !!
( and yes this channel can be very confusing for those who saw the word spoilers in the name )
ikr jdhdjfbfjfn
but yeah you do have a good point on this one
Not quite but
close enough
( not my pic btw )
wait
dang that’s sure looks similar !!!
better version lol
pfpfpf the little tuff hairs
i’m glad that stayed
mhmm mhmm that one cute and i love it
ok but i wanna know who did this concept art
i must know
~~ especially that pose~~
mfnfjfngfnf
Actually the bottom right corner giving me Wasteland Elder vibe when he’s worn out from the battle
also side note
i love the vault elder in the concept art, she looks like a mom reading bed time stories
;;3;; Vault Elder previous
like “come gather we have stories to tell”
And then pulls out massive book and reads to her followers
that’s one massive headdress
tallllllllll one
Oh!!!! it’s there before few months ago!!
also
omg
it was there before, but didn’t get the chance to take closer look at it
but why one of them broken??
either artistic reason or something else??
never really caught my attention
Maybe it just suffered the same fate as the prairie butterfly field gate: Sky kids running into it constantly
pfpfppfpf omg
that could be the case
wheeeeezee
also forgive me for such terrible hand scribble but
at least how i see it????
also I swear i’ve seen this language before
But forgot the name of it
( from the concept art of Vault elder posted by Pigeon btw )
looks more like what was it....... i know it’s somewhere in Europe but what is it??
something before ancient greek mythos exist......
hhhh can’t remember but i swore one of my classmates showed this language to class
hmmm
it looks like indic languages but idk i don’t think i know enough to really pin a script that resembles these
try Egyptian
Isn't it English?
n-i-g-h-t
ah
A H
You’re right Mochi!

why did my brain think of other languages?????
considering that other realms used to be called by what time of the day it is
like dawn, daylight etc
bruh
I came up with it only after I googled ancient scripts for like an hour😂
ok people what do we got here
Currently, we had a talk about similarities between this pillar particularly in the area with Oreo and the Prairie Elder
Then there’s concept art of the vault elder
there’s a lot more
but these are the recent ones
oh my god
btw here’s the full image
cool
that looks the most similar to arabic, but i’m pretty sure it’s not exactly it
feel free to speculate on what the writing is and what it means
after all this is a discussion about lore after all
people of sky
labor, Intellectual, warrior, civilian male, civilian female, child of light, dawn ancestor, day ancestor, rain ancestor, sunset ancestor, dusk ancestor, night ancestor
ill be making the alphabet of sky as i work in school lol
Well, it is a piece of concept art and words are written in English with a really cool font.
I just transcribed it.
But we know that the language in the song Constellation (the Isle/credit song) is in a created language. Also, the people of sky apparently had some kind of writing system, because we can see some engravings on buildings in game which look like letters.
okay yeah. it’s english
I don’t really know were to put this butttt I found out where the || blue planet 🌏 || is actually located. Atm I’m working out if it shows up else where in other maps or just where I found it.
Wow you guys, this is great stuff!
Also, crack theory that elders are fusions? 🤔🤪
And valley twins aren’t in their fused form? 😳🤯
…
the valley twins do only have one eye each 👀
Someone react with the shaking eyeball emoji I dont have Nitro
Nicee
yep!
I was like hello liscord? until I saw your last asterisk lol
More lore material: The game’s opening sequence
This is the sequence that plays the very first time you open the game. Mirian kindly recording the video; text is pasted below.
But darkness came, and the stars fell...
Together, the fallen stars made a new home in the clouds.
If only they had listened...
A long time has passed. Now, I call to you.
Wake up, child. Bring our lost stars home.```
Is it just me or does the desert from Journey look fairly similar to the golden wasteland?
So, this semi-hidden door. Can it be opened?
It’s in here at the temple at the end of Forest for anyone unfamiliar
@scarlet wren oh, anything inside?
nothing noteworthy
Unsurprising but still disappointing. There should be a hidden room somewhere just stuffed with goodies 🙂
Is that the room where one of the winter season emotes was?
yes and no. There was a machine beyond that door. it still worked for a time... but its parts were taken, and the door sealed shut. it's an empty room now
"The pump don't work 'cause the vandals took the handles ..."

Oh, wow! It'd be interesting to see all the parts of Sky that have changed.
Shiracheshire has made some imgur albums about how each level has changed through beta up until release!
i dont have them on hand but you might be able to search them up via discords search option 😄

PRE-LAUNCH BETA/SOFTLAUNCH CONTENT
Sky's global launch happened on July 2019, but the game was available to players through limited live and beta since late 2017- and there have been many changes since then! The links here are a collection of memories from old players so everyone can admire how far Sky has come

^ @rocky wing
They are truly amazing
Oooh thanks!
can this be pinned?
When eden, and home albums are ready I’ll update it ^^
Honestly can’t wait for those!!
The vault one is my favorite so far
Maybe more history than pure lore, but the albums are amazing
And @edgy sleet is amazing and wonderful for being our very own Vault Elder historian ^^
Our archivist

Pfff. You guys give me way too much credit. I'm just trying to pretend my screenshot addiction is useful somehow.
No shira this is so good! Especially the descriptions you give comparing the old and the current version
You deserve all credit
perched on the fallen tree in the first area
its interesting to see how isle was incredibly detailed turn into something simpler
The fallen tree that has darkness sometimes and is where the first spirit finishes?
yeah
the area with a star kid by the gate
it would just be perched by the roots. i remember seeing it when i was new and i never really knew what it was until a while ago lol
the isle we know now is simple and straightforward while the earlier versions were huge and detailed. its probably why they changed it: its for new players, and it could get confusing..?
its also cute and sad how there was a sky kid like you dangling on a boat and it calls out :(
Old Isle was still pretty straightforward, even though it looked very complex.
I wonder if the problem was that it was just boring to go through that whole long thing on a linear course, no exploration, without even your wings.
oh no really D: @/ginsy
yeah
you said you pretty much dont get your wings until the end of the level?
and considering the controls back then and the weird camera, it was probably tedious?
It depends on the version, but in the earliest ones you didn't get wings until the boat dock after isle! That area was right before what we'd now consider the start of Prairie- with the closets and whatnot.
It was a neat moment
it reminds me of the murals in isle
The boats were the best
i can only imagine ;w;
In the murals, you know how they show people in flying boats carrying the light up to the sky? That was what the opening sequence used to be like – at first we could only fly as passengers on a boat , and then at the end of Isle we were gifted a cape by one of the emote spirits so that we could fly.
this reminds me of the ||weird.. transparent jellyfish thing outside the office under the stairs||
OHH
I don’t remember that!
Oh man! You're right, it does look like that thing!
Whaaaaaat
^ that pic
Oh lol, I see the tagged text (sunlight + mobile = blind)
Where is that pic from?
Thanks! ^^
i only read isle so far and its the simplest level in the game, yet it holds so much.. i can only imagine what the other albums will look like
ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪
IIRC I think that thing was a bunch birds bundled up together right?
yep
That's my guess, though it's mostly speculation. There's no proof of what it was for sure.
im still in love with the beta capes. so pretty!
maybe for some anniversary event they could come back ◉_◉
I think in a livestream they said they were disabled because of performance issues. My guess is that if they can make it work without melting any phones they might come back, but that's an if. Getting things running well on phones has got to be difficult!
Yep, performance and optimization
i can dream uwu
whale?
im sorry if im spamming the chat skdjjskd this is all very exciting 🥺🥺
oooh good eye
The whale does have those creepy little arm fin things :0
The kinnnnggggg
In those the king is the mountain, huh
Plus Eden concept art has prince fly you OUT of the king, hmmmm
HMMMMM
@dense saddle said about krill coming out of the ground—
I always kinda thought that was just because it needed to appear from somewhere but now that I think about it, wouldnt it have just been popped into the world or came out of the sky if it wanted to be inconspicuous?
Krill emerging out of the ground makes me think of them almost as something originally of the earth, and a representation of its anger. The ancestors polluted, exploited, and abused the earth, and the krill came out of that abuse as a revenge upon them. The land is still deeply scarred, and anything that seems to be connected to that civilization is seen as a threat
@edgy sleet I've only finished Isle so far. Thanks so much for this, as somebody heavily interested in graphics and rendering it's a huge gift ❤
There’s concept art that strongly implies krill might be made by the ancestors to keep the city or “Holy Land” pure
Here
Is that screenshots from the old cape days
Combined with this concept art: ancestors used dark stone to make things
It is indeed
I fully acknowledge and respect the concept art. Also, I wonder if certain aspects of the story will have changed in the several years that passed between when it was made and when the beta started
Funny enough, lots of players super excited when the patterns were first removed. There had been a blank cape glitch before and it was so unusual, so pretty. We were so excited to see the actual colors of the capes. But over time we started to miss the patterns.
Grass is always greener on the other side, haha
Back in the patterns days there was a glitch that made your cape plain. I loved it so much! I really like this style more, but hopefully they bring the option to use different patterns in the future (they said it’s an optimization problem and bringing them back is their plan)
Hah shira
I've just seen the patterned capes, and I want a patterned cape
Definitely true, concept art isn’t in game and thus can only be relied on for speculation
Plants will always be darkstone for me 👀
I like the patterns on the concept art better than what we had in game
Same
And even if the origin of the krill hasn’t changed, it is wayyyy less fun to always stick to one “official” interpretation of something than to find other possibilities for meaning
Imagine walking around with a white and creamish geometric patterned cape
@edgy sleet Seeing all this, I heavily regret not joining the early beta. I was half tempted at the time, as I wanted to look at the graphics, but figured I'd hate the game as it was multiplayer. (I was very wrong, picked it up because it was free to look at the graphics, have been playing it since)
aww like the one in ||office!!||
They’ve said the patterns used in beta were very simple, and they had plans for more interesting ones (maybe like the ones we see in the season?)
@spring blaze actually that boat is still in prairie 👀
It’s invisible oob
I love that boat so much
I NEED
But you can ride it!
yeee!!!
Whatt
You can??? Howwwwe
Where is it
make it show up at 12 pacific time like it’s supposed to
someone show me.. this is great
.... is this #general-sky-discussion I detect? 👀
Lolol
Love this boat. Have been on it, and know how to get to it, but wasn’t quite able to activate it myself.
I’ll give you a hint: look under the bells in prairie 👀
This is me and mirian on the invisible boat
Too fast sera... mine is loading
And broken

This is relevant to the discussion nagati!!
I was lying down on the boat once and it just dropped me off at one of the docks lol
Omg that music sera
It has nothing to do with lore
And this thread is massive enough to wade through as it is
Development history is one aspect of the history of Sky I'd say, and the boats are part of that 🙂
They should add infinity boats
New patch: name changed to "Sky: boats of the boat"
It's a game where you are a boat that gathers more boats so you can ride bigger boats
The boats seem so significant in murals, even tho we can fly RIDING a boat just sounds fun
I wonder if boats were just how ancestors got around. Pretty sure that's how they got into the sky to begin with, at least in older versions of lore. Maybe they just couldn't fly and did boats everywhere.
Imagine: Shoes but the shoes are little flying boats. :P
Sky: Battleship
I don’t think ancestors could fly
boats do seem to be an enormous part of their culture youre right shira!!
Ancestors can’t fly and the realms are pretty far from each other tbh
Yeah I mean none of the elders have capes. I’d happily surmise that they were not able to fly and the boats were their form of transport
If boats were how they started, I wonder how flying became a thing? And why us but not others?
If ancestors could fly those ppl who died in a cave could have just flown out
Sky kids aren’t the same as ancestors
Takes it all back to the question. What are we? (Sky kids)
Wait which ancestor can fly now, the ones with capes?
maybe boats were crafted in prairie, but the light from isle combined with the diamond batteries made in forest could make them fly?
Maybe they’re just stylish
My theory is that only the spirit which give you capes can fly
There’s boats in isle too
i always assumed the caped ancestors could fly
In the murals
Hm @crimson grove ancestors with capes does imply that they could fly
And buried
so maybe there was some sort of subrace?
Also the boats in wasteland
They never fly in any of the spirit cutscenes though
And why would a normal spirit be able to fly but not the elders?
I think the only place without boats is vault
The elders didn’t need to fly. As the need arose, the technology developed to allow for flight
yeah all of wasteland seems like a big shipyard or a city with some extensive docks/a large port
Yeah good luck trying to fit a BOAT in the library sera
Also, thought: Is it the cape that makes skykids fly, or is that an ability the skykid has, and the cape just acts as wings for their natural flight magic or whatever?
Maybe the elders were so powerful they didn’t need capes 👀
A hybrid of the light and darkness
If they were too powerful they wouldn’t need technology and become corrupt 👀
Maybe the capes are just regular capes, just cloth.
Sky kids can’t fly without the cape
Skykids can’t fly without a cape, so I say no natural ability
They need to something to hold winged light
I think the cape just enables them to, they can still soar without capes
Ah I'm bad at words when I'm tired
@crimson grove maybe the ancestors weren’t corrupt but everyone else was
Like what I'm saying is
What if the power to fly is in skykids, and they just need something to act as wings? Anything? Even something as simple as a cape?
i could see that!
I think that’s what it is shira
gotta have something to help direct their flight
Yeah that makes sense.
A way to harness the energy, like a candle “harnesses” their light?
Yeah
They harness winged light
Their light is their heart
When they pull out a candle they are offering you their heart
Lol
Imagine sky kids just getting whatever piece of fabric they find, putting in their backs

ow
Their abilities increase through gifts of others...That matches the Sky ethos ^^
Our capes are definitely some type of star tech, they charge up just like vault diamonds
It also makes sense why their candles have a heart light halo around it
Normal candles don’t have the heart halo
Ooo
Even before the stars got introduced the cape always reacted to light and flame
Yep
@wind bone haha I remember when every candle had a heart halo for a while :p
Adorable thought: If we assume for a second that's true about the capes just being cloth (which it's just pure speculation but work with me), then imagine the skykids are convinced that they all have magical flight capes. They think they're just normal and boring, and can only do cool stuff with their magic capes. But then it turns out the capes are just capes, and "the power was within you all along, dear child" and all that.
Hearts, hearts everywhere
Somewhere in the concept art, what does it say a sky kid who has lost its light is called? Corrupt, aren’t they?
How it is not flammable
I think the corrupt descendant in the concept art is something else
There’s a corrupt star child but I think that’s different ^^*
yeah one thing with concept art: it is just concepts. so stuff present in it may not actually be what they went with
Indifferent
Indifferent? Wdym?
so take the concept art with a grain of salt!
Indifferent to the fate of the ancestors I think
hmm
It’s really ominous and vague
Yeah but I do like to see how/what/if anything still applies/could apply with a bit of creative thinking
Who said that?
I always thought it meant that the corrupt ones are just indifferent in general. Like that's their nature, or the result of whatever made them corrupt
Ahh
Indifferent as in 'no emotion, no light, no soul'
When we go to eden we are connected (with the mega bird)
Thank you Mirian! You knew precisely what I was thinking of!
become one with the mega bird!!!!
(Pffff Dune)
indifferent kid: Meh
Teen angst
Ancestors: please save us child!
Skykid: meh
emo skykid
“You’re not my real dad”
Okay just caught up with everything 😅
"5 more minutes Boat Grandpa!"
Hahaha
The sky elders made sky children and it was good. Then they made sky teens, and had to face the edgy teen rebel angst.
Elders: "Wait no, go back"
And then there were only sky kids.
:P (kidding)
"It's not just a phase Eldeeeeer"
“Whatever, I didn’t want those stars anyway.”
Lmao
I always felt the message telling you to re-enter eden gate during storm lock was kinda like a parent telling the sky kid to come home
“Return through the gate to continue your ascent.”
“but MOM”
“Is it too much to ask that you visit me at least once a week”
Were the sky kids a separate autonomous race that were somehow enchanted by the ancestors to do their bidding?
So when they lose their light, they are indifferent, it doesn’t concern them, but when lit up they must carry the light
Idk, seems like they came into existence after the ancestors died/their civilization fell
The opening cutscene kinda states skykids were created for the solid purpose of fixing the mess made by the anscestors
when it says, “Bring our lost stars home” I felt that the sky kids themselves might be “stars” as well. Destined to return to the sky once they did their job i dunno
I always forget what the new new new opening says
What was it, again?
My impression is that the voice in the opening isn’t the ancestors we see in the game
It’s pinned now Shira! :D
Do you think then, perhaps, that just as the ancestors encapsulated light in stone, they encapsulated darkness in light to form us?
Wdym boon?
Now that I think about it, who do you guys think is talking in the opening?
As in, perhaps we are just darkness. We go grey and dark when we lose the light. But we show a form and a function when we carry the light. We’re just vessels.
I see!
(thanks Nagati!)
I have to wonder if the old lore from beta is just drastically different from the new lore like in the opening. Star kids don't seem to appear in any of the old concepts really. So we might be sitting here with the pieces of two puzzles, confused as to why we can't put them together haha
The darkness trying to redeem itself?
Yes. Or being made to.
Haha @edgy sleet agreed
especially since the slightest bit of star kid didn’t show up until April of this year
What happened prior to the star kids?
Yeah, they were part of a huuuuuuge overhaul of the flying system, and first appeared as blue stars on statues. Before that, IIRC our flight was powered by how many emotes we’d collected
It was really OP
OOH
At one point friends would give you wing blessings too
You could get so many everyday
Not to mention that with the old flight system, you only needed one or two wedges to fly pretty much forever. Upgrading wing power was not something on one's mind at all.
(I completely forgot about that Mirian ^^)
Yeah
So no, the concept art predates aaaaany of the star kid stuff
Not to say we can’t find a way to stick the ideas together
Wow! Concept really has been evolving. 😱
I still can't let go of the idea of Sky being a sequel to Journey, and the ancestors being sky people like a bajillion years in the future. It fit so perfectly with the old lore, though the new lore contradicts it haha.
(Unless the journeyers moved up to space to make a society and abandoned the ground... but that would go against some major themes in Journey so probably no)
I want to believe they are somehow related. I mean the gate in isle temple has the two figures on it that look remarkably like robed travellers
A bajillion years would give them enough time to evolve arms
Different races in vastly different times, but same world.
Similar technology
So many links.
Not to mention the resemblance between Krills and those dragon (?) enemies in Journey
Carpet creatures evolved and repurposed into capes
what if wasteland is the way it is bc the krills took over
I reckon krills are scavengers.
probably
They didn’t do it. They just crept out of the darkness when the dust settled
if theyre scavengers then maybe wasteland was full of life then something happened
probably
I bet it was beautiful
it was thriving kingdom until war struck
cause theres all that black water stuff thats really hard to walk through
makes sense
i knew it wasnt really water but i didnt know what else to call it lol
golden wasteland = pollution?
yep
oil spill, skeletons in some of the oil
then there's those random pipes
yeah i figured that
Did the ancestors dig deep into the ground and hit an oil reservoir? Perhaps? And that erupted, perhaps caught fire, destroyed the city and polluted the land
im more curious on the sludge you see at the ends of the pipes. they make a squish noise when you step on em 🤢
I wouldn't think fire
the ancestors got greedy and destroyed wasteland maybe yeah
is there some kind of factory like building in wasteland
they were building portals, I think they'd have gone past the oil stage 🙂
bc theres the greyish thick clouds surrounding wasteland + pipes
i think they'd still use oil for some things though
we still use fire to power stuff
something to do with Darkness overcoming the land, I'm not sure pollution as in the issue we have here on earth is a big theme, but that does make me wonder why those pipes are there 🤔
yeah only this time we dont need the oil bc we're made of light already
still wondering why wasteland is 99% oil
Think about the bit in prairie, you go into an island, down a short ramp... then do the 8 person thing, and the lift goes up through the island and sea and into the sky, and you can't see it from the island. Clearly a portal of some sort.
gosh i cant remember how you get to wasteland but
wasteland could be like, older than the other lands
I think the wasteland is just corrupted water judging by the boats. Was once crystal clear water I'm guessing?
you fly and theres a storm that sinks you the bottom..
okay
Or the ocean or a lake or whatever pffft
but like i was saying.. maybe wasteland is older than the others and thats where they realized they messed up
and abandoned it
actually wait
the people were there kinda when the krills were
But yeah the amount of sand and water it was probably a tropic area once
Also I am not sure if this is a popular theory but I've heard it quite some times, that all the portals are just memories and places like the end of vault where you unlock eden for the first time and wasteland are what is actually there
there are buildings unaccessable in wasteland, kina like the ones you see in the races in valley
bc the spirit from the sneak emote is hiding from a krill
maybe the elder were there first
that could imply that the krill are why wasteland is abandoned
but we dont know the timeline
maybe war happened when the land was already in shambles. maybe the land turned like this during war
did they ever say anything about the official lore being released any time
We know the distance though. Each level is closer to Eden. When war occurs, they go for the cities, hugely populated areas, which wasteland was
why is everyone dead though like
lil lore crumbs and its up to us to piece together the bread
ive never seen a living person aside from the sky kids
We need a graphic novel. One day we’ll all agree on a story and we can make one
This is true jay. There are living creatures though
yeah n thats so weird
there was a sky kid (?) in beta in isle that just "sat on a boat, dangling their legs as if waiting for someone." if you honk at then they honk back
But actually, think about it. We don’t see any other living “persons” besides us, humans. We have living creatures though.
is there any explanation as to who in the world we hug at the end of eden though
the sky kid whos like, crying or something on the floor
I find the architecture in wasteland interesting. Mix of castle and what looks like ruined elevated highways...
if the krill were gone, i'd probably explore wasteland to look at everything in it
i sorta imagined that kid we hug in the end is us
You’re hugging yourself. Your light. You are darkness animated by the light. (That’s my theory and I stand by it 👍)
@tulip flame I thought it was another one who'd failed to get through eden 😄
its like.. when u hug them, you become who u were before you died and lost light. thats not a normal star kid
maybe though... the other kid is lit up. Maybe it is you, and you're meeting your pre-newborn self, they're leaving as you arrive
its like "hey im sorry we had to go through that. hug?"
I just thought I was getting my soul back or something lol
pretty much
i was thinking it was a normal sky kid bc you regenerate / turn back to your self when beside another player
ik the theme of sky is altruism so i know we're consoling them rather than taking care of ourselves, even though we're dying
Are we dying? Sky kids seem immortal or at least infinitely able to reincarnate.
about the hug thing i think the light kid is you?
like it's a different aspect of yourself
Shadow Sky Kid
Yea I think so too
You are the indifferent child
And you hug the connected child
That becomes you
Wouldn’t our bodies be dark like the crabs or krill then?
we lose our light but we don't become corrupted
That’s what I tought
There’s actually some old sound files of corrupted sky kids that’s really scary:(
That sounds freaky
It is
Are light and dark creatures separate initially? Are they split from a single thing? Or can one being change from one to the other?
the dark whale before wasteland and the light whale in eden makes me think that they can go back and forth between sides
Maybe a life cycle change like metamorphosis.
where are these corrupted sky kid sounds
The whale before wasteland isn’t dark it’s just the lighting
The corrupted sky kid sound files are from beta and I don’t have them atm :/
So many mysteries. We don’t even know if the sky kids remember Eden or resurrection/reincarnation, correct?
Why would they have to remember something?
We keep our emotes, so are they what we remember?
Lol if you think about old beta and how you upgraded emotes through eden that means that going through eden gave you brain damage and you forgot how to show emotion
Maybe the SK just know them, but don’t remember why they know them.
Are Whale (skeleton remains in forest) and Leviathan (briefly seem in Wasteland and Eden) different? The wiki doesn’t mention the leviathans.
Nope they’re the same
they're both whales
^
If you didn't remember, you'd forget all your friends
whats that weird little rock in forest near the campfire?
Theres so much interesting talk in this channel I have a hard time keeping up aaahhh
Also that's the clock counting down to the appearance of the rainbow!
oooh really?
yep!
I didn’t even know that, that’s cool
a rainbow appears in forest at 5AM/PM PDT
What are these and why do they look like tank obstacles
ummm fence?
👀
Weird fences
they are barricades
Could be for tying up boats
But why tho????
they look like some building structure
well there was a war. and theyre mostly around the temple
used to barricade the wasteland temple to prevent more damage i believe
anti tanks huh
the whales are kinda tanky?
where the tanks come from?
were there CARS HMMMMM
Seems to go against the idea that there was a battle with the krill though—they only work for things that are on the ground
tanks in sky
boats
ooooo good point nagati!
war between who?
but where are the tanks?
The boats can fly though
L
i think the whales were dead before the war came
Oh yeah
in the wasteland drawing seen in the vault cutscene, over by the right side theres the ribs
kinda
Maybe if there’s a big tanky creature that tries to go down but can’t cos of those things on ground
But the exes are really spaced out
well many are buried in sand
yeah
maybe theres more underneath 🤷🏻♀️
Reminds me of the d day scene in saving private Ryan lol
These are medival fences. Sky is is nothing like modern universe omg
ik it’s just a theory
i mean they're from the 1930-50s ish so not medieval
sure they cooperated but we dk their relationships
||one of the elders in the office has a spear thing on its back||
Idk
its probably just a neat back item they chose for themselves lmao
no. its still a secret
Yeah
ooooo makes sense
i really don't think anything from the ||office|| can be used for reference
except the plot on the wall
its just a fun easter egg
the ||spear is probably an item they chose for themselves. besides office is so modern||
yeah
it could indicate that there was something like that in game though? that ultimately wasn't used
What is the office
do the twins have spear?
yeah!
ooo
that could be it
they look a lil different i think
the one on the ||office spirit's back|| is more pointy and triangular
a lot smaller but you really can't take the one in ||office|| for reference
Mhmm mhmm
the whole place should have little connection with the game world
i just mean that it's possible they had something planned for that spear but ultimately didn't use? like the eden crown and a pot on back cosmetic that hackers sometimes have
it's in the game files but not available?
something like that?
but that isn't very concrete so i get your point
yup
i just mean that i think the spear could have been used for something like that? like it exists in the world of sky
if that makes sense?
yeah, did we confirmed the twins have the spear?
they do but it looks different from the one in ||office||
there’s the spear, pot, bow
Did someone ping me? I got a notification but no flags.
bow from the purple cape spirit
alex did, old conversation that alex wanted you to do in DM
( but that’s more like part of the actual gameplay and not removed or hidden like the spear )
screenshot of valley cutscene needed
Pretty sure both twins hold something that looks like cricket bats, no spears
i remember they used to be?
pfpfpfp year they look like boat paddles
or those were just sticks
Doesn’t magic allow pretty much anything to happen? Maybe the barricades floated.
the spear one for the Wasteland Elder || and that spirit from the office ||
oh yeah wasteland
eheh XD
yeah the twins are more like bats than spears
and considering how in both their cutscene and their drawing in vault cutscene it shows that they were playing and competing.. pretty sure that valleys was more Olympics style
What is the eden crown
Yup! saw others posted this as well
But as soon I was chilling at that very spot, a new player managed to get this spirit going so only had a few second to take this pic before it’s too late
( and yes i’m in moth mode you’re welcome )
these are from Beta but thought it might be something i could show you guys
the first pic the same one from the top but just at the different angle
Wow that second pic, Skymii!!!
Ty Dune!! Unfortunately since I went a little too fast for this spirit I couldn’t really get a good shot for each sequence
What to heck is moth mode
heh a term used for experienced players ( or for players that had played this game for a while ) when they decided to go default mode just for fun
o leol
heh yeah it’s sometimes nice to go back to the basics
Lol
What is “default mode”?
Ah another term to use for players to be in the same look when they first play this game
Ah.
heheheh
the true reason why the Sky Kingdom fallen is because of what happened at the Wasteland
_the pineapple pizza and the antis comrades had fought each other immensely _

Yeah, when did that whole usernames war start anyway?
Pineapple is more popular than I thought. I thought I was a weirdo
_it has begun when the announcement was made, with the Lord of Pizza Scott making the appearance at the Livestream. Then two people, Pines and Cathu question the same thing about Pizzas in the #593970570442440724 _
Hence the war has broke
I was responsible for the cause of the pineapple pizza emojis to rise
Who's winning?
Well just have to find out when the Poll close
Check in the #general-sky-discussion pinned message
as of now, Pineapple Pizza winning
pfpfpf this place is the only safe place from the riot
Hmmm actually now i think about it
we covered up a couple of things about the what happened in Wasteland
before it became a... well, Wasteland
We haven’t seen any spirits who’s seem to be a part of the war
beside the look out and the faint spirits ( but they mostly try to survive from whatever happening during their times )
but aside from that the ruins of the Wasteland must be dated after the war
Hence having some spirits like the afraid and sneak spirits to be on the hide out in the ruins
That's a good point
Lol
👍👍👍👍
But what does it mean for our bud Mohawk guy?
Aka the spirit in the green cape?
He seem to be a fine mood while he’s at the first krill room?
like no reaction or anything really ?
What's his emote?
What about the warrior elder at the end though?

I think this one ??? hmm can’t really remember the icon for that stance
Oh him? Hmmm
Really tired and beaten up
from what happened at the war
do we even consider as the war between the spirits and krills or themselves?
or something else ??
Are the spirits and elders assumed to be from the same time/place/race? I thought the elders were , well, an older race or generation that had (more) magic; whereas the spirits were a younger race or generation without (as much) magic. The elders knew how to get to wherever they were going, but the spirits didn’t which could explain why spirits are found outside the temples and elders only in the temples.
Hmmm that’s a very good question to think about, considering that the elders play very important roles in order to maintain their worlds
Maybe the temples were built after what happened to the Elders
Hence when sitting on their shrines, it’s like experiencing some sort of memory projections of the Elders
the elder stones in the temples do look like graves? so it would make sense if the temples were built after they passed
Mhmm like the churches or temples
Temples especially since you have like statues to pray upon whoever you want to pray
technically both of them are the same things when you think about it
since as someone who went to both Churches and Buddhist Temples, I could see the similarities and purposes
when it comes to praying for guidance, help etc
hmmm
but would that mean part of Elders’ spirits be a part of the shrine?
as in as soon you as the player bring in the light to elders in the cutscene
they unlock the gate for you and then disappear to the Vault
before your final meeting before Eden
Hmm i’m going all over the place with these thoughts
haven’t eaten yet so brb
plot twist: sky is just a fun retelling of the bible
eden is hell & krills are demons
remembered seeing from someone who’s very very religious saying that the kids are the demons
since they strive through the light in hell
Hmmm forgot where that post go
goodness that review makes me really uncomfortable
but it’s sure something to think about
review was made few months ago so
gonna take a while to find it
i dunno i feel like the game does draw inspiration from the idea of light versus dark but that doesn't necessarily imply religious references
they do call eden eden though
i guessssssss
honestly we don’t know

Ok but another question
In which some may heard of but
in the Valley’s Ice Rink
where you have
this spirit
when you look through each sequence right? there’s a kid
a kid without the cape. Plus the way the kid looks look similar to that of the spirits
Further implying that we as the sky kids exist after the disasters that set in the Sky Kingdom
i think there are two disasters that happened?
one that caused the spirits to fall down into the world we see
and one that caused their efforts to rebuild (possibly back up to where they fell from) to fail
the sky kids look drastically different from the spirits
the kid in that scene definitely looks drastically different from us
the sky kids seem to be from where the spirits first fell from? but still different entities
mhmm mhmmm
The whole live, die, see Eden/paradise, repeat seems...eerie. Do the Sky Kids choose to reincarnate/reincorporate/resurrect; or are they forced/coerced? Can the Sky Kids be sure of the Spirits, Children of Light, Elders’ altruism?
I think most cultures associate light with good and dark with bad, but that could be taken advantage of by the Elders (or whoever else might be pulling strings).
I think we choose to do so, because it’s part of our journey to become wise, and understand sacrifice
And the whole megabird thing
It’s part of the cycle
In the words of the Dev’s, Sky is a game about giving. I feel the sacrifice becomes a choice within the player too, you can’t give without first wanting to give
in the intro narrator said “bring our stars home” so possibly we were sent to gather light and give them back to the eden statues (the stars) so they can return back to their home in orbit as well as the spirits too
since you already rescued the spirits back in the clouds, and when you ascend them and stuff, it makes sense that they give you a star (possibly their soul?) in the area before you return home post eden
- they are already back in the stars (they fly up after temple cutscenes) so meeting them there makes sense
- they’re already grateful enough that they were rescued by you but ascending their spirit using candles from eden is something else. so they give you wing buffs in return too
i think the spirits are stars though
the intro calls them fallen stars
plus they make up the stars in the constellations
after eden you fly up with the spirits, or stars, into the sky waaaay above eden
so i think that's the part about returning the fallen stars home
i'm not too sure about this but it looks like after you ascend spirits they become more solid when you do the relives? the first time through they look blue, ghostly, and see through and after you ascend them they look more solid?
or do they look more solid during the second relive regardless?
If we assume Sky Kids remember and choose to resurrect, are the Children of Light markers by previous NPC Sky Kids as help to PC Sky Kids?
“It’s dangerous to go alone” kind of guidance?
ItS dAnGerOuS tO gO aLoNe tAkE tHis
@wary prism I've noticed that ascended spirits become solid when you relive them, yes
do you think that taking their own stars out of their body hurts the sky kids intensely
Maybe they give us the star you know willingly
maybe it's all a like.. "life flashing before your eyes" type of scenario
Every time they give one away?
no like, us as the player are playing through our own life over and over..
Hypothesis: somebody greedy and power hungry decided to take all the winged light themselves. But as they did they slowly went crazy, and the power of the winged light that gives us flight caused that to leak out into the world. They followed the same path as us, and had a wobble in the forrest, became egotistical in the valley, got kind of back on track in the vault then went downhill fast in the wasteland...
(I actually dreamt this last night, which probably means I'm playing sky way too much. Except it was set in an empty school for extra 'fun'.)
Notice how it isn’t the crying spirit’s story but the one next to them?
And when that spirit dies they become a small mote on the ground
Or maybe the focus is on the crying spirit’s feet lol
Good eye, @steady steppe!
Lore this?
I know it’s a glitch but it still seems fun
But like a giant black gas with two glowing eyes r a bit much for a glitch
Lmao
The King wants to make a visit
Mantashark? You're ok on it's back, but be careful flying in front
Backtracking a bit to the oil – I find it interesting that the oil pouring out of the pipe in the shipwreck area (by the path that leads to the battlefield) is solidified all the way up the pipe. Like, you bang into it. In fact, anything around the pipes is solid (or, well, maybe a little wet since our feet go squish squish when we walk.) But the oil on the ground is still liquid, so maybe the oil is still seeping out of the ground, but the pipes are so old that nothing comes out anymore.
I’m pretty sure that’s because the game engine doesn’t support liquids like that, but that raises a question. Where do we draw the line on what’s part of the world and what’s just a limitation of the game? Like, wind walls... do we consider the implications, how they form?
id say it's just a limitation? theres extra details outside of the windwalls as we know but the game probably doesnt support that kinda open-world thing yet
its the same thing in valleys where a lot of the lands are barren past the rocks and mountains. in a place where competitive games are held in a massive colluseum, im pretty sure that city would be bigger no?
It looks like mist
Ooo
Actually if you try to fly up to get the shot of the lake
don’t you think the orange cravings reminded you of something ?
Like birds?
The megabird
Yes!!
Im pretty sure
Well, yeah... birds 😌
Birds
Did someone say birds?

BIRDS !!!!!!
Birb
Oh no what have i done
BIRB TIME
So, I posted this on another server before. I just noticed we have lore discussion here
Well, from what I could understand from the paintings
- Long time ago exist people on earth, and they saw a falling star (or was it a fallen objects, notice they shaped like a cog which probably means its a mechanical device)
- Three people saw the fallen object, but only 2 approached it.
- The two people utilized the fallen object to eventually make a great mechanism (first elder is a dumdum who used that great power for fireworks)
- If you notice in the prairie, a lot of vase exist there, which probably are used to transport the fallen object to somewhere else.
- They noticed that the fallen object could be used to create life, hence the butterfly coming out of the vase.
- Knowing the fallen object is something with a great power, they decided to continue studying it.
- I dont really understand how to connect forest and valley, but valley is a sign of an advanced civilization, with heroes, entertainment, arena, and stuff (just like rome was)
- So they built an industrial to utilize the full potential of the fallen object, hence the golden wasteland which is built under water to explain the pipes, krills, and crabs - if it were a nuclear/radiation powered device, they definitely need something to cool it down.
- The destroyed structure on wasteland is not from wasteland itself, but a piece from the top of eden.
- The original structure in wasteland is connected with pipes to make the industrial stuff fully functional.
- The waste from the industry is the black water stuff thrown into the ocean.
- They built eden into some kind of power source, with the true potential of the fallen object on its top, with the red shards as its primary power source. The power which they tried to create artificial creature such as ghost manta or even the sky kids were one of their creations?
- Remember the one guy who didn't get to play with the stars? He is against the idea of using such powerful things on earth.
- So he amassed people and tried to destroy it once and for all. Which explains the battle near the vault (but really, the battle in wasteland is like people vs monsters, the bone and stuff).
- During the battle, chernobyl happened on Eden. It malfunctioned, and then boom, everyone ded. The end.
Looking at the pics from Shira, it seems that Isle was more feature/detail rich than the present
destroyed structure could also just be pipes used in wasteland, as they seem to be a culture to have discovered oil and use it fuel a navy of some kind
y would they create skykids in the first place
or mantas
Some sprits we see have wings, like us, and so it can be inferred that they can fly too
or maybe they’re just cold lmao
whomst is this guy that you spaketh of in 13
Y would he destroy the power source that, from what I can tell in your timeline, had created a prosperous society
He is a heccin terrorist
vase exist to transport other stuff too, such as food, water, b u t t e r f l i e s
the vases in wasteland r their supplies
and they heccin ran out
Why only three ppl?
Why not the elders?
y would they create skykids in the first place
Science, people like to experiments. We tested cloning didn't we?
whomst is this guy that you spaketh of in 13
In isle cave painting, three people saw the fallen stars, but only two approached it.
Those people might be earlier ancestor than the elders.
Well everything is a speculation until the dev implemented it xD
We tested cloning on heccin sheep my guy
Human experimentation on children is a big no no
Fair on the cave thing but one could also argue that it’s just murals, and they didn’t have enough room for three dudes
Also if they wanted to send the message that a third didn’t like it, wouldn’t they draw him off to the side?
sheep + rats I think on the cloning thing
I remember a sheep from a few years ago
Well, that doesn't mean those sky ppl won't experiment on creating human using the fallen object. A big no no is from our moral standpoints, who knows sky people were actually evil 😈
Well, that's just my point of view. It's not the source of truth.
i have an idea of the lore, not really a concrete plot but rather symbolisms of stages in the passing of time.
so the isle - the spirit has a staff and in the mural at vault it seems to be leading an expedition of sorts, so that could represent the beginning of time (dawn) where the land just got discovered
second, the prairie - this could be the point where the people start realising the benefits this new world could give them, thus they started growing more flora and fauna, keeping the butterflies in jars for their own uses, and the world just grew a lot
third, the forest - maybe the world grew too much and of course nothing can be smooth sailing. dangers approached on the horizon like the rain and crabs that took their light, but they managed to survive with the help of mantas and fungi and they also found/made a new route where the rain wouldn't hurt them
fourth, the valley - big boom in technology that i can't explain, so maybe there was a time skip. they overcame challenges in their primitive environment and started building the world to their own desire. maybe due to the height of the clouds some of the rain that fell became ice (explaining the ice rink)
fifth, the wasteland - two ideas i have for this place. one will be that this is the result of the people neglecting their environment and thus causing this place to become a wasteland. another idea i have is that the people started fighting amongst themselves (explaining the last part of wasteland before the krill gate) and this is the result of the war.
sixth, the vault - i don't think this is really connected to the first few in any way, just that maybe this is the spiritual place, another realm where they travel through to meet the spirits.
seventh, eden - i assume eden is supposed to be where the spirits used to be in? until the storm hit? the storm could be a result of the war mentioned in wasteland, i dunno.
Eden isn’t where the spirits are from, the spirits are from orbit
The storm around Eden is probably caused by the glowing rock/giant vault diamond, it creates a strong updraft (this is what is destroying the castle and lifts the players into orbit) and when that happens irl storms form
Furder evidence is when you free the statues in Eden, you see them flying towards the stars in Orbit after they become wax, referencing the "bring our lost stars home" from the opening cutscene.
i feel like we were made to simply bring our stars and spirits home
I agree, bring our light to the lost children, and be reunited with the Sky
Also, how to enter the Isle Elder room?
through ||table glitching the cutscene ||
Guys
||is it normal for a spirit to be in the air in the office place||
||because I saw one in the air and I didn’t know if it was a glitch||
@tender hamlet There is one ||in the air in that area, and it's a normal thing. It doesn't do anything though when you do the quest.||
ty eee
Ok another day another theory
🍵 oh yeah the more the merrier !
See some of it might be just theory’s
But it’s worth a try
Last time I was here is when we discussed about the elders
but feel free to talk about things that are interesting
Thnx
@hushed steeple being an Elder Spirit in training sounds like it has lots of potential!
Also, your avatar is adorable
And our favorite friends are our spirits, that’s such a cute idea chocolatemilk!
do you guys think Journey and Sky are part of the same world
Some people say Sky is a sequel to Journey, considering Journey’s end is similar to Sky’s entrance to Prairie
The giant rock/mountain that’s split
That was my old fan theory. It doesn't fit super well anymore, but it used to.
A race of people ascending up to the skies. The masks and cloaks. The split peak when entering Prairie.
I like to think that the big cloudy mountain and the Journey mountain are one in the same. Like it has been a bajillion years and every inch of rock has worn away, but the life and spirit of the mountain remains always.
yeah the fact that Journey ends up with you ascending and that originally player characters in Sky were called 'descendants' kinda made me 👀
I think Sky could be set before Journey, rather than after. The world of Sky seems less over all less advanced than Journey, and like it hasn't finishing forming
like I was thinking about the part of the Valley flying race where there's all the floating rocks and like, what makes them float
@grim siren all the realms represent the cycle of life.
The prairie is our childhood, the hidden forest is moody teens (lol), the valley of triumph is entering/becoming an adult, and the excitement. The wasteland is a midlife crisis, (not knowing where to go). The vault is becoming old, and having experienced life for what it is. And eden is death. (It’s a reference to the Bible, Adam and Eve, and god and heaven and whatnot), which is also why we see the light.
and isle is birth!
Yes, of course. Hence the name.
the isle of dawn. ‘Dawn’ means the beginning.
Also-
“The first appearance of light in sky”
That’s cool!! Thanks for telling me :>
Obligatory post to add that there are many ways to interpret the different levels. There’s a reference to the concept art with the life stages thing in one of the secret areas in the game, but there are many other ways to view what we play through. So, @grim siren, I’d say we can get a good perspective on the game with the interpretation you posted earlier, too

I wonder if the kingdoms were all like entirely separate tribes or something
Each with their own culture and such
Considering how different they looked in the concept art, I’d say that’s definitely possible.
is there a place to see all the concept art?
It should be pinned
Sometimes I wonder if it is all the same place through different stages...
I’ve put together two albums full of lore screenshots, just writing descriptions now. I’m 1/3rd finished writing the first book one

_the third pic _
omg i’m so happy for the pink cape spirit

meanwhile for the faint spirit tho

who did this to poor faint spirit...
Last week a few people were talking about the giant statue we see outside the top of the Eden mountain and I mentioned that there are similar statues inside the final room, and that I'd post pictures later. Found some!
I keep forgetting to take good pics when I'm in that last room though so here are a couple more I took in beta a couple weeks before release
@sand abyss @scarlet wren @crimson grove I think it was us four talking about them
(99% sure there's no difference in the statue between that point in the beta and the release, but marked as beta just in case)
mhmm!!
Pigeon the first one to spot the broken statue
And I think Pines too???
hmm can’t remember
oh!!
I think we do fight the darkness by uniting our stars
The fact we’re unarmed and basically krill fodder with no defences is a big part of the point I think
@ocean pike you asked about this kid in #eden-spoilers
Oh fun fact
In old versions of eden instead of you getting the soot like stuff on you
You’d grow crystals
Just like the statue
Let me see if I have a video
I always thought about that as the rocks in eden hitting you so hard they carved onto your skin
The rocks were blue back then
Here’s me flopping in vain but you can see the rocks on my character
whoa
Ouchie!
i guess that would make the statues sky kids who never made it into the last area?
Also this concept art re: that kid in Eden
Dark stone was a really present theme in early beta. The spikes could be seen in darkstones (now plants), crabs and rocks in eden
I just can’t find a picture of the spiky rock crab now 😄
whale
Maybe the reason the ancient spirits carried light up to Eden is because it was part of some ritual to give light to the Megabird?
Clearly there’s some kind of story where the spirits in each realm carry light to their elder and it moves further on to the vault
And then from there, it’s only speculation
The prairie elder has the ability to turn light, or soul flame, into butterflies
Im gonna rewatch every elder cutscene and then compile them into a video. Maybe they’ll give us a clue. Because I feel like when we visit them, we’re following in the spirits’ footsteps because they did the same thing.
HAHAHA @modest skiff you called it Soul Flame like my lore guide 😂
I think it’s funny because I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else call it that
