I had a thought regarding the Ancestors who had lost their light

The Shepard had been driven blind
The Gatherer had become lazy
The Blacksmith (grabby aunt?) had become unable to forge anything
The (athletes?) became too competitive, driving them against each other?
The warrior lost his strength, barely able to lift his spear
Not... too sure about the one in the Vault

After having their light stolen, they were twisted in ways that turned them against their jobs, their purpose

Personally I believe the creation of the corruption in the lands was created by the emotion of unwarranted anger and feelings of being greater than someone else, and the people who felt this was the ansesters, when the corruption became leathal the stars began to fall “the characters we play as” over time we were the only ones left, the reason for this is because we were the ones willing to give every part of ourselves to save another “to forgive because we ourselves are not perfect” and the selflessness that we show slowly cleans the corruption

A lot of my theories are rooted in old concept art, probably cut ideas now. There was a concept of a king in the art, he was definitely a bad (or at least darkness-corrupted) guy. I think Mr. Sea Monkey in the vault cutscene when they get to the crown might be him?

I always liked to think the light kid at the end is the king. Or a prince, I guess. Like the light and child-like part of him buried under all that darkness. And even though the king is probably responsible for a whole lot of bad stuff, maybe even responsible for our deaths, we offer him forgiveness in the end. And that's why he's hesitant to hug us.

And of course the dark and light embracing each other, balance is now restored symbolism.

But that second paragraph isn't a 'real' theory I think. It's not supported by any evidence really. It's just a bunch of old concept art ideas and what I generally feel like. So I wouldn't put too much weight on it.

I think the king character got lonely after a while since the other spirits left then when darkness came in he pulled in all his light to stay safe, at the expense of everything in his sector, and ripped the castle from the ground, sending it above for safe keeping. The storm might be a reckless form of self defense which keeps enemies away but inadvertently keeps allies away too.

You can upgrade your spirits with the ascended candles you've earned. That will help you be reborn with more cape wedges.

#

You just keep going back through after you're reborn to recollect stars and farm candles so you can upgrade all your spirits.

#

And this game is a lot about friendship, so I hope you are making some nice friends!

Collect everything! Grab all them instruments, learn to play them, style your hair, be a fashion icon, make new friends, find new cool secret places in the levels, take loads of pics, enjoy the music

#

Many of us have played Sky daily for a year+ so there's definitely more to the game than just going through once. 😃

But as ! Swifty said, it doesn't give you anything. Also, it's really hard to get to in the first place because there's this section before it in the mud/black water where rocks just keep hitting you, and then when you try to get to it after that, there's a super strong wind you have to go against so it takes a while to even get closer to it (but at least there's no rocks pelting you there). When you finally get pretty close, it's just the same thing but closer up lol. There are some statues near the entrance of the beating heart/diamond thing though, where you can sacrifice winged light.

@gilded crow other than the chat bench and star stone (where you can leave a review), the only things to do are spend your ascension candles. I usually spend all of them so I can get a better wing boost in my rebirth.

I didn’t find a second trip through worth it. I lost over 20 stars before I even got halfway through the red hail. It was especially brutal tonight. Only got 2 star candles.
I understand it’s supposed to be difficult but right now I’m just mad at all the effort for so little gain, and I’m tired of doing this over and over and over...

Honestly I’m getting bored of Eden. The trip through the krill and the red hail is a frustrating hassle. Eden is beautiful, but I’ve gone through at least two dozen times in beta and live and frankly I’m tired of it. I can’t even explore much because the game pushes you toward the end so much.
Part of my frustration is simply lack of control. My kid often just doesn’t go in the direction I want her to and I often can’t see anyway.

For me, I think it would be less frustrating if there wasn’t the whole fall reaction every second towards the end of storm. I get that the hail is supposed to slow you down, but when I’m getting knocked down so much that I lose 10 stars for every step... it can get a little aggravating.

If you’ve ascended spirits, you start with a corresponding amount of winged light when you’re reborn. But if you haven’t used any of your storm candles to ascend spirits, then you won’t get them.

#

For instance, I started with 4 wedges last time, with only three stars needed to get to 5.

#

After you’ve ascended some spirits, then you should see them standing to the side of the light path on your way to the door to be reborn.

A painfully obvious tip that I doubt anyone else needs: don’t stand around waiting for the animation to finish when you give winged light to the statues. Just hit the hand and run for it 😂

When I went with my friend we held hands, and there was an issue where the leader was safe but the follower still got hit by rocks, so just look out for that.
