@glad ferry, I built on what you posted and changed the starting note to fit in both the octaves. So for anyone else who often gets this song as an ear worm—I transcribed the music for “Make a Man Out of You” into the ABC1-5 notation system. To play, arrange the verses, chorus, and bridge as the original song goes. This is just the main melody, so add chords as desired. Thank you Nezara!

@minor axle There are two ways, figuring it out by ear, or transcribing regular real world sheet music.
You can pick your notation system—a lot of people use ABC1-5 notation, which you can find an explanation of in the pins. If you transcribe from an IRL music sheet, you need to know the key/scale is that the song is written in; the bottom note of that scale corresponds with (in ABC1-5) A1, B3, and C5, that is, the top left button, center button in the middle row, and bottom right button.

I just wanted to say this. I know the ABC1-5 notation is useful for a lot of people and my program can now translate to ABC1-5 thanks to an edit from mimizan, but I also know some people who don’t use it, e.g. some of my friends Miyuki and Fiqo don’t. I think it’s annoying to assume that everyone uses it, or that there isn’t another way of noting down Sky songs. I feel frustrated, and I would like it if people stopped assuming that no one pays attention to the keys as well or that there aren’t other ways of doing things.

I just realized that my transcription of Mozart’s sonate by Ikina was too difficult for mortals (including me).
Here is the simplified melody, in Sky ABC1-5 notation. I have tested it, it works.
Notes glued together must be played simultaneously. A dot indicates a pause. Notes linked by a dash must be played consecutivey very fast.

@gaunt parcel not sure if you’re referring to a specific sheet, but in my experience that usually means playing them one at a time. They’re just abbreviating the letter since the notes are all the same row.

@cobalt lagoon sadly we can’t play any accidentals in sky, the most we can do is to go to different areas to change keys. You can find which area has what key, but beware as the key might change since the key goes along with the background music

@cobalt lagoon even after writing it myself it’s quite hard to play to sound right, it’s in swing time signature (12/8) and most music is in 4/4. So you really need to know where the beats are to play it correctly.

@candid acorn I find it helpful to watch videos of people playing music—as in, the video includes them moving their fingers as they tap the device. Then I can see how people position their hands to better play chords and fast notes.
Those can be kinda hard to find though. You could try your luck with YouTube. There are also a lot of posts on Twitter with #thatskymusic. You’ll still have to search for ones that show people’s hands, but it could be a start

@frosty flint AWESOME WORK MAN! I have not even been able to play it that well. amazing work to get the swing time down (really hard to play that time signature when your not familiar with it). As to why is sounds weird. This is due to the the 'accidentals', notes that dont fit on the scale. There is just no scale that would let me play every note required for the song (I tried them all) and so I had to substitute some here and there, a A instead of a B# or a D instead of C#. There may be a better way to play it, but it would take a better mind than mine to find it 😅 . really great job

@latent bloom there are a few different systems. ABC1-5 (like what BBLJ posted in) goes by rows—check out the pins for a chart that decodes it. There’s a visual system that uses pictures of which button on a keyboard to press. And then some people write the notes out according to Western scales (though the scale an instrument is tuned to changes with the background music).
Basically, the pins explain a bit ^^

this is another way of how i get B major, does this help better?
- download a free app called Auxy from the App Store
- Go to the Forest in Sky, through to the broken bridge where you light the candles and the jellyfish come out https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Hidden_Forest#Broken_Bridge_and_Boneyard
- When the background music in Sky starts — after you light the candles and the jellyfish start appearing — open Auxy and play a random song. Go back to Sky and wait for your song in Auxy to end, and you will be able to play in B major in peace
(instead of using Auxy, you could also listen to a silence sound file which I have heard some Sky players use while video-streaming the game, to mute the background music)

@cobalt lagoon ill take a look, the songs key is in E Minor but there is no place with an E Minor Key. There is a E Major key, but that can only be played in the area post-eden. So its not something you could easily show others
@cunning stag Looked into City of Tears....its VERY fast, it would take abit to get down on piano. the main tune also drops a couple of octaves abit into the song so im not sure how well that would work being transcribed.

being performed in a low octave is not so much the issue, its that it starts in a higher octave. the musical system in star only really gives us around 2 octaves to play with so any song that changes its octaves alot its hard to transcribe in sky, we just dont have the range to play with. Astral Observatory, pretty much sticks to the same 2 octave throughout the entire song.

At worst you could probably play the part that's used in City of Tears and Soul Sanctum
But there is a way to get E major without doing all of the final level
In Eden, go to the door just after the first child of light, open it and wait for the music to hit a climax at around 4 minutes in
You can still teleport home at this point so don't worry about that

Hey 🙂 Any place where I can play in C# Major or Cb Major ?
With two phones if one is in Cmajor and the other in C # or Cb, it is theoretically possible to play all the notes. Has anyone ever tried this?
