My official adapter broke (a kid pulled it out and bent the metal tong thingy when my mom's friend came over), so I used the adapter that came with my now broken portable air conditioner. It didn't even do a good job and was honestly very cheap. So I don't feel bad. Since the adapter was still working fine, I'm using that to charge my iPad. But you're right. I really should get myself a new official adapter.

By the way yes, it was a usb air conditioner.

Gotcha getting a secondhand iPad is never a bad idea. Current generation models are too expensive x.x

But anyways, to bring this back to beta! While you wait for your new adapter, if your iPad gets too hot while playing certain areas, you can always put it in the freezer for a minute or two with the adapter plugged in (that way the temp change won‘t make the adapter socket unusable). Don‘t leave it in too long, but it should help temporarily
And report of course, but I‘m sure you already do that hehe

it's possible to miss the loading zone in the dark room area, so try not to deviate too much from where the light column is; i usually just jump towards it without pressing any directional inputs and let the updraft from the column carry me up

yeah, the updraft alone is enough to carry you up if you let it lift you up and you stay in closed wing mode; people missing the loading zone is how they get that weird grey sky OOB

the one thing i know for sure right now after testing is that it seems to have near-infinite range: literally used it to jump from the beginning of isle of dawn straight to the end, right before you walk into prairie social space

the applications are a bit limited compared to what else we already have: you can only warp to where the table's been placed, meaning that it's necessarily a backtrack -- can't use it to really jump ahead huge distances, though you might be able to self-OOB through some walls (which again, we've got other means of doing via chibi or other ways of using the table); said example above was done after i entered isle from prairie and flew the whole way back to the start of the game

It forces you into open wing mode and throws you far over the platform before you even have control over yourself, and even if you do land on the platform you slide off before, again, you even have control over yourself. How I do it is I try to burn plants with other players but let them take out their candle first. Then I light mine. When our candles meet, I get the quest

The earth trials has one bug and i see it as normal (i wish it was) but on the last part where you jump across stones for some reason you get put back to begining if you die more than twice.. Other than that its fine for me ... I actually like that it only gives you a couple of tries otherwise its far too easy .. Anyways i loved it...its better in beta because you get a self server and no latch ons and bargers 😂

But now it looks like you have to relight the checkpoint each time you die, otherwise you get respawned at the beginning...

I think Earth trial looks ok aesthetically, but there are some issues with it that I wish had been addressed. It's ok for us beta players to fail repeatedly. But when these trials hit a wider audience with very diverse gaming backgrounds and preferences, it may completely deter some from the game. Just imagine someone who just found this game, thinking this is how all seasons will be...

I get the same felling @hollow compass I feel the season is very rushed and trial of Earth could be more polished or at least have those bugs addressed before going to Live. Server split and being sent back to the very beginning whereas u already reached the last stage could be very annoying. My friend kept trying to go through the last stage for about 30 minutes (alone because server split) and then got sent back to the first checkpoint and he was just exhausted

The issue is getting put on a server where you never done any of the checkpoints .. I just done earth again and everytime i fell on porpous on the last jump bit i lit the checkpoint which let me have another go.. Whenever i respawn and the candle is already lit then thats your last go unless you get put on the server where you lit the candle.. As soon as you die at this point and the candle that was lit aint yours then back to the start you go.... Now i think its annoying ..when u have had no practice people must be angry ..we lucky .. Im able to do the jumps easy .. Poor newbies 😦

Doing the Earth trial... we were a full server. There were eight of us. But we suddenly got all split by the time we reached the first checkpoint. Only 3 of us managed to meet back up. I don't think the trials were supposed to work like that...

for flying up the light, try to jump into the light column rather than flying up, and then once you get caught by the updraft, just flap using closed wing mode rather than open wing (reducing your lateral motion may help with not missing the loading zone); restarting the game may also help if you're stuck in a different part of eden

yeah, the light column itself has a strong upwards push, you'll feel really floaty once you're in it
you'll notice it if you keep jumping forwards towards it when your gravity suddenly changes

Lyze, that'd only work assuming you don't get server split at those levels of distances; you might be able to momentarily force warp conditions to be possible if you and a friend both met at home with different checkpoints in the fire trial and then entered again via the return shrine, but then that becomes a question of whether you can sit through the shiny cutscene and warp before the split

that would also assume the wisps in the end section aren't fundamentally different from the ones in the actual maze areas, since those ones actually display some unique behaviour (homing towards you when you get close enough to them)

Just managed to stay calm long enough to complete air trial. The checkpoints have a small wind free zone around them, not sure whether that's new but it's much appreciated. Was recording but ran out of storage shortly before the end.

Bug report time. Turns out the reason my air trial run took so long earlier is the final set of candles was missing. instead there was just a swirl of air as if they were already lit. This doubled how long the trial took as you had to approach it just right. I assume you'd face a similar issue if you fail that final jump first time and had to try again.

yeah, im pretty that when the candles are already lit/you failed and respawned and have to do the jump again you don't really get thrown as far which makes it harder to make it to the other side.

Not being thrown as far could be an issue. You may be able to offset that by pushing forward but it took a long time to figure that out. Not being able to land on that platform and change direction cost me at least 10 minutes on the first run. The other platforms next to it are still available but they’re really small.

To end the night on a more positive note. Issues I’ve raised previously have been addressed. So at least I’m consistently reaching that final tricky section now!

I've never been able to find where the light beam exactly is, it keeps moving around when i move my camera, so I've always just flown straight up after recharging a bit

yeah, my initial guess is that people are trying to fly at where they see the light column but actually missing the trigger collision, like what was happening with the sanctuary entrance from bird's nest when it first came out

There was a stealth fix in that room to prevent people clipping out and having to restart in the storm area of eden. That bug fix means people have to go directly to the light before flying up, instead of flying up from anywhere and ascending. Our intended behavior doesn't quite match your expected results—meaning a lot of bug reports for a feature working as intended.

However, if someone is truly stuck with no way to progress, we may need to fix the bug another way.

by "stealth" fix i mean it was changed and not documented for patch notes.

I just did an Eden run, totally didn't see this discussion.

It went fine, though - no crashes and no getting stuck.
The kid wasn't glowing, but they held out their hand and I hugged them and everything.

I will note that I walked towards the light and jumped, which let me magically float up despite not using flight power at all.
I usually fly into the column of light. Of course, of all the times, I don't do what I normally do.

I recall hearing that the official name for the "stars" is "Imprints of Children of Light", and I think shinyboi is your own imprint. This also fits into why shinyboi doesn't count for "hold the hand of a friend": you're holding hands with yourself. But maybe this is a better fit for lore discussion.

My personal personal theory is (since skykids are children of light themselves) that winged light are physical.... id say reminders? Manifestations? Concentrated *gestures vaguely" memories in the shape of a soul, of special memories or moments either skykids or spirits shared in that place. A love confession, friends goofing off, just a simple happy moment, a devastating tragedy, etc. Therefore those memories of that moment would manifest after they leave and would be imprinted forever in that location the same way if a cartoon character busted into the wall their outline would be cleanly cut out of the wall. After you hugged the child in eden you have to fly up where the light beam goes up. Now you are only able to do that around the light if you want to continue your ascending. Before this change you were able fly up almost everywhere. They narrowed the area where you can fly up now, because some ppl ended up in oob before and this change should solve that problem. (If i understood correctly)

Does anyone know about the shortcut to completely bypass the last stage of the earth trial? Apparently it hasn't been fixed in live?

Or did they intend it to remain, so people who found it too difficult still had a way to complete the trial

I'm at the point I go back and forth across the parkour part and just uber people across over and over so I didn't even look for alt routes after the first few iterations (for science)

There was an alt route at one point in Earth Trial where you could skip the section
That one was fixed but there was also a second one that allowed you to run across the top of the maze, although I thought that was fixed since I wasn’t able to get up there last I tried (at least in beta)

might have been a stealth fix in beta that hadn't hit live yet. they do stealth fixes for cheese stuff so people don't get too excited

Though, It’s hard to do the second cheese so I wouldn’t be surprised if the devs left it in live because to my knowledge you wouldn’t be able to Uber players across it
I’ll be honest I haven’t hit earth trial in live just yet so maybe some aspects of the map changed that I’m not understanding lol

In my opinion that cheese is just as hard/harder than the parkour itself when trying to learn, so if it still works in live then I guess that’s understandable lol
