funny story: there were four of us in wasteland doing the spirit. one was a total moth who was new to the game and didn’t have any idea how seasonal spirits even worked. after the long and arduous task of krill-baiting and self-sacrificing, we reached the crab pit again... i went up to the spirit and waved, since i was reliving. then the second player went up to the spirit... and waved. the third player went up to the spirit........ and waved. so the newbie player that all three of us were helping, and the one that had triggered the spirit in the first place... had switched servers/went offline. the three of us spent the rest of the time laughing and crying heartily!

@faint plinth the faint emote or play dead as i like to think of it makes you fall over and lay on the ground. It has a little known feature or bug that dragons and crabs don’t see you (I think you need to keep hitting it, but I have not tested it). However, I do know that if another player close to you gets hit while you are playing dead yo get hit too. So, it only seems to work if you are alone.

@heavy apex the crabs did eventually attack after i lay there for a few moments, however, many did walk over me without attacking even though they did get those red eyes they do just before an attack. So I don’t know what that is about.

@faint plinth what i said about the crabs ignoring you when you faint is not accurate. It does seem to slow them down but they still will attack. The part about the dragon is accurate.

The only way to deal with crabs is to avoid their attack or deep call. But spamming faint will make you invisible to dragons

My tip is to go in pairs or at least three

Only one person should carry the spirit at any one time

The other two as support in case the krill hones in on the bearer so they can drop the spirit for safety while the supports go in to bring the spirit elsewhere

But uh the last leg you’ll probably get hit at least once

I just did the wasteland quest for my boyfriend singlehandedly and I would have had a perfect, no stars lost run... except his timer went off. I tried to tap to hide from a krill right when it went off so his phone went to that app instead and I saw him get yeeted from my own screen which I’d set to watch from a cliff top

Gratitude vs Belonging wasteland quests: which was harder?

Belonging, but I did gratitude when I was a moth so it was a lot harder for me then

The gratitude quest had a lot of cover to hide behind, I just didn't know how to use it

My vote goes to gratitude but it may be that I was still new and didn’t know how to handle krill yet? But at the same time... at least belonging’s is mostly flat, it’s easy to walk around lightless if you get hit, whereas gratitude you were done for without light to jump up

The worst part of belonging was being seen by krill, not hit by it. There were so many and not a lot of places to duck behind where there wasn't another one to see you. When you were seen it'd take a while for the krill to stop looking around, risking you running out of time

i’m kind of bad at explaining but another example of a countdown we have is the weekly seasonal spirit one. they get released on monday at midnight PST. when it says 1 day left that’s actually saturday, and then sunday, the true day before the release, it counts down by hours

About seasonal things being available after the season, I think tgc have said they may explore selling old seasonal items as IAP... but it wouldn’t be as cost efficient for players or guaranteed that they’ll even do it

Basically if you have the chance to get it in the season that’s the best method but there’s a slim chance you’ll be able to pay $10 for an item down the line if you’re that determined

The quest spirit also shines brighter and has color, while inactive spirits are grey after you save them once

So if you can't make out the icon, look for a spirit that's blue (or gold if you've ascended it)
