#Swarm Sync issues

noted thanks
try turn off 4g on your phone?
yep mobile data is turned off
Btw vedal you were right, stream sync didn’t work through smart life pairing, but I found a different way that sort of combines both HA and the SwarmSync app by using the local key from the swarmsync app
looks normaly enough
tell me more
are you able to pair to a mobile hotspot? might need another phone to help out
I used the localtuya integration as I normally would with any tuya device, but instead of pairing with the generic smart life app I kept the lamp on the swarmsync app. I then noticed that the local key for the lamp is logged in the debug logs, so I just use that in the config for the integration and it works like a charm. Only thing is that you have to turn on stream sync in the swarmsync app. But other than that everything else works in HA
i can try that one moment
if android make sure to tick 'use 2.4g or maximise compatibility' or sth in the hotspot settings
there should (might?) be a setting in localtuya to add the swarm sync attribute
I tried but I think there’s something extra that the swarmsync app does that localtuya can’t do, at least to my knowledge
When I paired my lamp to smart life and looked at the logs on the tuya IoT platform, I could see that all the swarmsync app did was set the color mode to “music”
And then there’s pushes to the lamp from an “unknown” source that changes the “music_data” DP
yeah that should be all you need
It never worked for me :/
I can try again when I get home
But the upside is that with the new method you don’t need smart life nor a tuya iot platform account
Okay, I don't know if that was what fixed it, but turning off mobile data before trying to connect to a 2G network seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the pointer!
Mine seems to work work fine at first then it turns off after awhile (even with stream sync off)...is there a sleep mode built in or is it losing connection to my phone when my phone (iphone 12 pro max) has been left alone for awhile?
it doesn't rely on phone connection so not that? also it shouldn't have a sleep mode on by default
it does work on my hotspot
seems like something up with your wifi then
cool that gives me something to do time to start digging ahah
maybe change your wifi name to just text (no dots, symbols and spaces) and try? noticed it has those, and password
Btw, a timer would actually be nice so you could use the lamp as a nightlight. Maybe something for the future after the bugs have been squashed
Actually same for me on an old Galaxy S9. Turned off by itself after a while.
Hey people. While the sync app could only be downloaded on AppStore or google play, some b2 swarm using android may have issues downloading the app. Any solutions?
Sideloading?
is there an apk for that somewhere then?
haven't seen a swarm sync apk
Yeah, but we don’t have an apk
i think it would be better if there was an apk provided directly
For sure
An f-droid listing would be cool too
The more official the better
Yeah, we hope there’s an official apk, maybe we could post it on b2 or so. Replacing the whole system with global version just to download one app literally makes tons of trouble for someone who’s not familiar with smartphones.
neither has worked
Is there an easy way to sync the lamp on multiple devices? I'd like to be able to control it with my phone and my tablet, but I don't want to go through the whole setup again and potentially mess up my working configuration.
ok so. it appears to be an issue with the phone doing the pairing? i just tryed with a different phone and it works with my Wifi
Just a general question on how stream sync works...If I go to work with my phone is my lava lamp going to turn on while I'm not there? (I will be unplugging it anyway, just wondering) I saw that it doesn't rely on phone connection but can I turn it the lamp/stream sync off or on from work for instance?
Yeah you can control it from anywhere
huh interesting, could be some phone permission or version thing
ok using the same network i can connect with an old phone but not my current phone so def something phone related
just cant figure out what. no differences in app permissions other than notification which is just flat grayed out on the newerphone
and like any good piece of tech do the same the over and over again exactly the same and eventually it just works

thanks for yall help its now working on my phone and i have no idea why :-; but i am taking the win
maybe something different in the location settings? on android some of the BLE features depend on what's enabled in there
potentially either way over the moon its working now ahah
i do think this helped creating a new network for the lamp got it to work from the old phone even when my new one wasnt working
if my internet meets all the requirements but the lavalamp doesnt connect, but it connects to my hotspot, is it just something about the router that we dont know
cause it just says unknown error
Success.
Bruh
I've also got it connected to Home Assistant... but then I decided to just drag my finger around the colour wheel for about 10 seconds and see what happens to the lamp... and it disconnected from both HA and Swarm Sync.
I think I had to power cycle it to get it back to a working state - and even then it took 10 minutes for HA to pick it back up.
does my phone wifi and my lamp wifi have to be on the same connection
no it doesnt
im so happy
Thanks for the quick fix, will update later during today's stream
Over 100 messages
while you're here could you help me test it real quick
can you just turn stream sync off and on again?
Gimmie 30 mins I'm out buying kfc
Aite
Someone enlighten me on the local tuya thing
I can test now
okay perfect can u turn it off and on again
stream sync that is
Alrite did that
okay yeah looks like its working
if you have it on then lamp should turn on for tomorrow but no color to sync too since evil doesn't have a lamp
Does the lamp stay red till the stream starts?
So many messages to go through to update the FAQ
This turtle never sleeps SMH
Oh I didn’t even notice
currently stays red through the whole stream for evil
Was the lava lamp color during the layna collab also red throughout?
Wait that's probably the reason for the debug earlier I'm dumb
Can't wait to see the colors sync during the next Neuro stream
My lamp dosn't heat up nor does it glow anybody any ideas on what I could do?
Does it flash red?
nope it sadly does nothing
Did u plug your lamp in?
of course
Replug your lamp, it should flash red
that does not seem to be working
Can you take a video?
yes one sec
If your lava lamp doesn’t heat up or flash red upon plugging, contact https://neurosama.shop/docs/contact
Does that thing you are plugging in to work? Could you tru plugging it in to an outlet instead
yes it works, and I have tryed another outlet
@red ember
ok thanks anyways
Since you are using a travel adapter, are you able to buy a different one?
I have a different one as well but the original seems to be glowing red if that is any help

Try a different one
dosn't flash red either

Hello guys, I have paired the lamp before, but all the buttons didnt actually work, then I tried to reinstall the app and now the lamp wont be going into pairing mode anymore, so no connection
I did yesterday the same thing and I also have the same problem as he does
When you replug the lamp, does it flash red?
@raven ice @fickle flume go to settings, troubleshooting mode, reset device list
No, I already tried it a few times. When I click press "Resync device list " it it loads like 0,5 sec. and does nothing. My lamp is also still green like before.
Are you able to change color?
No, since I reinstall the app it does not have the lamp at the home screen. Reconnecting also won't work because it's green I guess.
Connect your lamp using tuya smart life app
What device is the lamp?
Are you sure you got Tuya Smart Life app?
mb wrong app
Did you try to unplug and replug the lamp 3 times in a row? It should activate the pairing mode
that doesnt work
Connect your lamp using tuya smart life app
How long should it take to detect to lamp?
Less than 30 seconds, idk, it should be pretty fast
Then its not detecting it
Replug your lamp
Still nothing
I am by the same point where Olive is and it won't work for me either :/
I have a feeling the lamp is still connected to the deleted app and wont connect again bc it still thinks its connected
that doesnt seem to work either
But would that even work because the lamp still thinks its connected to the old app?
Reinstall the swarm sync app then
Wouldnt change anything bc the lamp seems to be connected to the instance of the swarm sync app that I already deleted, so installing again wouldnt change that
@topaz willow
I really have no idea how to help you, you could try providing logs
Or try the pinned message
if you haven't already, unplug the lamp for about 5 mins, then try put it into pairing mode exactly as shown in the pairing video in the support page here
https://swarmsync.app/support.html
I found a new way to get the lava lamp into home assistant is all
Updated the faq

I did update faq, u should read it
@silver moth I used the tuya-local method, used the rgbyw_light template (which then I coped over to custom neuro_sama.yaml) and used this automation to toggle the Swarm Sync:
sequence:
- action: light.turn_on
metadata: {}
data:
effect: Scene
target:
device_id: 0fa204e90e386e94498a053ee9f11fa8
- delay:
hours: 0
minutes: 0
seconds: 0
milliseconds: 500
- action: light.turn_on
metadata: {}
target:
device_id: 0fa204e90e386e94498a053ee9f11fa8
data:
effect: Music
alias: Turn on Swarm Sync
description: ""
Since it just uses the dip 21
Also that template makes the scenes work as well
Oh fr?
Yes
Stream sync too?
Yup
Sick
I tried to configure a button for the custom yml but the button is not supported
did not look a lot into it
#neurotic-neurons message but basically you can achieve this with scenes
can you tell me more about the template part
lets move to #1298035351432200256 so we don't flood the issues :D
Okay 😄
This isnt really true FWIW, I'm able to repair between several devices or across reinstalls, it just disables the older ones when you do so
Hey I got a new error today!
Progress! Haha

Still busy today but got a lil bit of time this morning
Tuya errors are great and descriptive
No rush friend. We appreciate your hard work! ❤️
Waited like a year for these lamps to come, I can wait some more 💪
I can safely say the new update on ios did not fix the gui
Check the pinned message and repeat the steps
Not surprised there unfortunately
oh? new pin? 😄
Yes
I think useful links should be put above trouble shooting mode
what's an EAP networks (eduroam); I assume I'd know if I had one
they appear when you enter troubleshooting mode since they're both related to getting support
usually indicated by needing a second user/password on top of the normal wifi credentials
e.g. eduroam has a user/pass system on top of their SSID for individual students

Ah ok, I think we're good there.
lots of technical issues lately; first neuro lamp then my face tracking iphone bricks.
happy happy hehe 😄
If you have any questions ask them here!
thank you so much. looking forward to the day I get the lava shmooving 😛
at least I can consistently put it into pairing mode now
That’s good
ooh, new error: 207019
Go to settings, troubleshooting mode on, reset device list
it stops flashing red like 2 seconds after trying to pair; so it seems like it's at least communicating
207009 this time. lots of juicy error codes

Go to settings, troubleshooting mode on, reset device list
Did Vedal ran out of IDs?
2 sec
Post logs
That did it, ty
207009 doesn’t tell much
Magic button saves the day
there IS an extender in the house, but I'm not using it.
Oh
alrighty
Create a hotspot and pair your lamp with that
worth a try actually
Go to settings, troubleshooting mode on, reset device list
hotspot would be stronger than my wifi by far
(I use ethernet because my wifi is so weak)
I assume you mean resync? That’s what I hit first time that made it show, but doing it again doesn’t fix unknown error reaching device
or is there another button somewhere I’m missing
Or wait is it maybe because I’m on main network and not the 2.4 GHZ
Mb meant resync

Change networks
Genius.
Only problem now is, don't I have to keep my hotspot on all the time?
Alright still didn’t work so lemme try the regular WiFi rather than the 2.4 specific one
Color changes with Bluetooth, stream sync only works with wifi, so just use your hotspot 2hrs before stream
That was a simpler solution than I expected. Bravo.
Well I can actually control it now so that’s a plus, just no stream sync… I’ll figure that out at some point but whatever
Gotta head out so will figure that out when I’m home later
Try deleting your lava lamps pairing, and connect it using hotspot (maybe your network is weak)
Not sure if this is the correct discussion, but I wanted to share my "interesting" issue.
I got a GL.iNet GL-AX1800 (Flint) as an access point, which is connected with a wire to an AVM router that is further away. I have a Main Network and a Guest Network. My other smart home devices exist in the guest network. So if I try to connect the LavaLamp with the 2.4 guest network, it crashes the GL-AX1800 every time successfully. I modified my main network to try to connect to it with the same result.
Booted up an older AP (wifi4) with dd-wrt installed and tried giving the LavaLamp its own network to exist. I use the dd-wrt device as a repeater and configured it to get its internet from the guest network from GL-AX1800. Not sure how the LavaLamp does it, but it successfully crashed the GL-AX1800 again while the dd-wrt (repeater) was not affected.
I changed the repeater configuration so that the dd-wrt device gets internet from my weak AVM router connection. The lamp paired without issue and works now.
My conclusion is the lamp has its own network now and seems to have a deep hatred for the GL.iNet GL-AX1800. 🤔
Network wizards where are you???
I have no idea what you wrote but I can say this, lava lamp requires direct network so Neuro could communicate without going through the app
I wonder if the app could add a function to automatically turn off the light
More functions will come after connection issues are fixed (literally in FAQ
)
Good to know
no worries, overall with my work around it works now. It just seems to hate my main Router (Access Point) and just wanted to share for the off chance someone else has that Access Point ><
Thanks for sharing! Vedal or the dev can look in to this
Well for connection issue... I can't sync the lava lamp earlier today, and after I tried to use my old phone, the problem on my new phone is fix as well
Settings, troubleshooting mode on, resyn device list
Yeah, I tried, but it did not work on the New phone. While I download swarm sync on my old phone IphoneX, it successfully connect. After unpairing, i retried pairing with my new Phone and it works this time.
I wonder if there is something inactivated maybe. I'm not a computer science major, All feels magic to me

tbf I just assume that that is the problem bc it would make sense in the context of my problem, but it could probably be anything really
but no matter what Im currently trying, its not going into pairing mode, so it like must still think it is connected to something
if the lamp isn't enteringpairing mode (not blinking red when you unplug replug) check out the hardware issues channel
Create a hotspot and try connecting with that
It started to blink again, but now this
Make sure you are using 2.4ghz network
but it worked yesterday, why does it not work now?
Can you connect with a hotspot?
it works, thx guys
Could you try now reconnecting with your wifi?
@topaz willow Is it okay if I tell people to pair with a hotspot?
With wifi it gives me an error
Keep it on hotspot while devs figure out a fix
👍 sure
its not to bad since my color of choice that I would be using is green anyways, so im fine without the pairing for now
Facing connection issues!
Together with error code: 207009
I've tried over a dozen times- lamp goes into pairing mode for 2 seconds and stops but app keeps spinning and connecting but nothing happens. Tried logging out and in again so far, no luck!!
Try settings, troubleshooting mode on, resync device list
Else create a hotspot and pair with that
Only one I haven't tried is hotspot I'll give it a try thank you~!
yeah though its not ideal because itll need that hotspot the whole time it wants to be changed
but generally if it connects to a hotspot imo it highlights that there might be a problem with the base wifi in some regard (the usual culprits in the pins)
Whenever I enable “Sync to stream,” it automatically disables itself. I suspect this is due to the incomplete pairing, but where can I complete the pairing?
Settings, troubleshooting mode on, resync device list
Else create a hotspot and pair your lamp using it
I’ll go sleep, if anyone has trouble, or wants to help, just try/provide “Settings, troubleshooting mode on, resync device list
Else create a hotspot and pair your lamp using it”
is it doing it automatically, or is it when you change color? stream sync is designed to turn off if you try to manually change the color
that worked, now it stays activated, ty

I just resync device list
It automatically disabled when I closed the device page. But now that you mention it, it's also true that it disables itself when I change the color, so I'm not sure anymore. Um, maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusions because of the previous error.
What I want to share, in case anyone else has the same problem: I spent an hour trying to pair the lava lamp. Troubleshooting mode, resyncing the device list, hotspot, disable mobile data, nothing worked. What helped was reinstalling the app, and then somehow it worked on the first try with the incomplete pairing error message.
Anyone know what error 4 is?
Did it work ? My lamp have the same problem
Is there a thread for hardware failure? My lamp has literally turned yellow in the last 72h
also it kinda just does that aparently

thats just what happens when its heated for a while
It would be good if people knew what they bought as merch and how it worked as a general idea, just a thought
my struggles rn too, tried with hotspot too with no luck
i think its connecting tho just the app stalls
Im getting this too
Yeah. Can't find any info on it. Tried all the stuff. Reinstalling the app. Resyncing, 2.4ghz wifi and using a hotspot.
I'm like 99% it's a software thing though so I'm pretty sure it will be ironed our sooner or later.
I'm on iOS btw.
iOS 26
iPhone 17 Pro
Those are my specs
I feel like half of the issue is with IOS 26 but we’ll see
iOS 26?! I just checked and I had an update for 18.7.1 (Nvm, I could switch to iOS 26 as well)
iPhone 14 pro
Auto updates is on so I'm not sure why it hasn't updated.
I'll try again after the update is done.
Are you updating
It’s still pretty buggy I thinks
Downloading it right now.
Still getting Error 4 after updating.
Have you tried adding it to the Smart Life app?
I have not. I'll try it right away.

You can control it through there but unfortunately stream sync won't work
Hey I was happy enough with it being green. I don't really care that much. I would have bought it even it was sold as one colour.
Okay, and you followed all of the instructions in the pinned message? #1426970657631113376 message
I think we should try some more before giving up
Hmm. I've tried most but not all of those. I'll try more tomorrow, it's almost 2am here.
No worries! Just send a message in here if you want to try more things
For sure 🫡
I’ll grab the smart life app and try it out for me in a bit
I'm using an android and trying to pair to the lamp, but keep getting this error
the password is definitely right so im not sure how to fix this
just paired it actually using hotspot and when i tried to complete the pairing again i get this
@indigo horizon @delicate remnant @muted pewter @sand breach create a hotspot and use that for pairing. Drop the logs
Tried it. No dice.
I’ll save the message and check out in the morning

Logs of previous attempt to pair
Idk if they can be classed as an issue? But I just want to make sure I've done this correctly so I had the lamp running to test it then I turned on stream sync which changed the colour to red and kept it on so I turned it off via the switch above the stream sync switch, will it now auto turn on later today or do I need to leave that switch on for it to work
So it currently looks like this
Sync to stream, will automatically turn on before stream and off after stream
Alrighty
@indigo horizon @delicate remnant @muted pewter @sand breach were you all able to connect your lamp?
Perhaps you are putting a symbol such as space at the end?
4 is router connection error
Settings, troubleshooting mode on, resync device list
kinda stupid because Evils plasma globe does change colour it could just sync to that instead
Can anyone help me fix the problem with my lamp not connecting dew to an connection to the router. I tryed it 5 times and the same error keeps popping up
What error?
no
Check the 2nd pinned message
ok fixed it by the power of hot spot
What is your issue?
this is what i get if i dont use a hotspot (i had to unpair and repair again)
im going to use a hotspot and see if the pairing is still incomplete
Maybe u have entered wrong wifi name?
ok hotspot works now my lamp is fully paired
i guess unless my wifi name has a space on the end i shouldn't have
my problem with the router made no sense
the problem I have is how much internet will this use
Your error doesn’t say much as it could be alot of things, you could always try settings, troubleshooting mode on, resync device list
You can turn off your hotspot and turn it on 2 hrs before live
@topaz willow
I went into the troubleshooting mode
nothing changed I tryed some stuff and still nada
Replug your lamp, or redownload the app
Also check if your network is 2.4 ghz
how do I check that again I did that like 5 years ago
Most moder routers have both 5ghz and 2.4ghz, some have them both combined and use the better one, to check find the ip adress on your router and go to it on your browser
Well theres a new error
?
Settings, resync device list
Logs please
imma just uninstall and reinstall the app
too long

ofc not
Can you reenable bluetooth settings
nope
2nd pinned message check 1st, 2nd 3rd
EAP networks (eduroam), wifi extenders, VPNs, or mesh networks. if you use any of these, you'll need to find a way to create an artificial endpoint
this is the only thing that I think is causing all of this
I cant think of another thing
With hotspot just insta connects but Wifi nope
My lamp is connected to SmartLife but not Swarm Sync
Are u able to connect to swarm sync using a hotspot?
Do u have a wifi extender?
I think so but not 100% sure
Network wizards come help him
Lets just say I have (im not sure if my brother is using an extender)
Was not able to no

Could you ask him?
2nd pinned message check 1st, 2nd 3rd
I asked him he says yes
There’s your issue
I’m on mobile so I don’t have the ability to search threads, but you should search for “wifi extender” here, there should be a solution
Here’s the error and logs for the hotspot attempt
I’ll just re-pair it to SmartLife and hope it’s an issue that just needs an app update
App Version: V 1.3
Device Version: IPhone 17 Pro IOS 26.0.1
Weird
If you don’t mind asking from what region are you?
US
Does lava lamp flash red?
It does
It flashes red then goes green fast enough for me to know that an attempt to connect has been made
Or at least the app and lamp found each other
Did you try settings, troubleshooting mode on, resync device list?
I did
I have to resync and then restart the app for the attempt to go through
And come up with the error
Other attempts they can’t find each other at all
Still havent
I have a WiFi extender but I’m closer to my actual router than the extender
Can you turn off your wifi extender?
Dev
if you mean the lamp, it should only use wifi when you want it to receive data from neuro or yourself and the payload i doubt is much, but i can't say with 100% certainty
Why couldn’t ya’ll give Neuro full access to the network, there wouldn’t be so many problems
if you want to be sure just unplug the wifi extender for a tiny bit (if possible) to make sure it isn't interfering at all
when it appears to pair (when the scan has a result), probably the first 2 things id test are
- can it connect to the official tuya app (this is a check of the app having issues connecting to the same network), ensure that it's still controllable with bluetooth turned off to confirm it's wifi connected
- can you connect to hotspot (if tuya can't but hotspot can there is some complication with the wifi network itself)
- If tuya can but a hotspot can’t?
are these logs implying that that your hotspot also can't connect?
Yeah
🤔
well thats a new one
in the tuya app are you able to control it with bluetooth turned off?
it's possible to pair without wifi in the tuya app so want to make sure that isnt happening
I’m connecting to it using WiFi with SmartLife as far as I know
turn off bluetooth on the phone
and try to use the app to change color or power after a few seconds
Yeah WiFi I just turned off Bluetooth and I can still control it
was it connected to your actual wifi or hotspot
ok tried basically everything I could and the lamp still doesnt want to connect
Actual WiFi on Tuya
its not that bad anyway Id be mostly using it for the sync for the streams and from what I seen it doesnt use that much hotspot so I could just turn on hot spot when stream is starting and turn off when I want to keep the lamp the same colour
have you tried pairing a few times on actual wifi since it succeeded on tuya? there seems to be some who have success just trying a few times after tuya
on non-hotspot
Yeah I tried to pair it on swarm sync after tuya and same issue
id try on the app a couple more times but give it some time. im still not convinced the cloud activation it has to do to pair the lamp with the tuya cloud group (based on bundle id) isn't just causing some intermittent problems (one of the few things that official tuya app doesnt do at all)
using your real wifi not hotspot as well
if it can connect on tuya it should work in the swarmsync app too so i dont think you need to keep using hotspot to try and connect
I’ll try again later yeah
is there a consensus on how best to get it paired? i can get it flashing red briefly, app doesnt find it (on android) and gives me an unknown error 207009
have resynced on the troubleshooting and tried with hotspot too
Are u using a WiFi extender?
no
does it fail with hotspot?
yes same error message 207009
interesting, can you copy the debug logs? also meanwhile have you tried tuya smart life app? itll help figure out if its a wifi problem
i will try now thank you

oh there they are
sorry long log
can you just paste the whole thing in a notepad
and just upload the txt file
or pastebin
either or
let me know if you have success in the tuya app
Nope
ah i am glad to have it changing colours for now
make sure you can disable wifi and control it in tuya app, then if it works in tuya app try going back to swarmsync (turn bluetooth back on too) and triple check that your wifi creds match what you put in tuya
yes i just tried again in the swarm sync app after tuya, it found it this time
neato, works fine now then?
if you can change color and toggling stream sync turns it red you're all good
Hello,
I am getting the following error message when trying to connect my lamp.
"Error 207019: connect router error"
I am connecting via a 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi network.
My system specs are:
Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G
Android Version 15 AQ3A 240912.001
Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0.208.0.VMWEUXM
I am using the most up-to-date version of the app as of this writing.
Will post log in a sec
Best regards
hmm I got the lamp to pair yesterday over hotspot, but today it doesn't want to. oh noooo.
2nd pinned post, check: 1st, 2nd, 3rd
try connecting via phone hotspot and the Tuya Smart Life app, and report back on which ones work or don't work
The issues keep evolving, I wish my pokemon would evolve rather than this
they arent changing tho? lol
its the same type of problems lol
the hotspot is an innovation in sanity testing tho lol
question does turning off the lamp in the app fully turn it off or does it just turn off the lights
Fully turns it off
Except if u have stream sync, it will turn on before stream
ok cool ty
Tuya app also gives a "can't connect to router" error. Will look into hotspot
Edit: Hotspot worked :A
if that happens there's something that tuya doesnt like with whatever network you're connecting with
could be a variety of things and tuya is not helpful at identifying what
5g network and wifi extenders appear to be the two most common
or vpns, if you have one active on your phone
ive also updated my debug pin to reflect the best steps to take when you have an issue to help narrow down any issues, for any future problems
Okay, I'm digging deeper into the LavaLamp.
5GHz cannot be supported, as the chip does not support it (according to the schematics)
Also only 802.11 b/g/n so if you have 802.11 ac only mode, then it also won't work
Also these are the only security modes (and also open, ofc) WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA/WPA2 PSK (AES), WPA3
eap generally refers to the wpa3-enterprise / 802.1x stuff afaik
the 802.11ac one is interesting though, is that a potentially common default standard in home routers
🤔
There is a very high chance yes
wonder if thats the cause of some people's generic router connection failure issues
Though usually OOB / OEM devices should come with multiple standards for default
I'm not at home so I cannot test rn
I wish I bought more lamps so I could create a production testbench
although looking at it more 802.11ac is a 5ghz only standard? so if something is a 2.4g connection I think it would avoid that concern
Oh yeah im dumb
but it still worth looking into what protocols the wifi is using
Also a concern for the future: Firmware update are inevitable. How will that be handled?
like for the tuya chip? I was under the impression it sort of does that on its own as it needs to since it has a wifi connection, but could be wrong
Looking at docs it is an OTA update, but there is non 0 chance someone pulls the plugin during the update and that is
Not using a wifi extender or vpn, and I made sure to use the 2.4Ghz connection.
It's honestly kinda baffling because by all accounts, this should work. Though I'm quite okay with the hotspot workaround
I am attempting to pair my lamp. I plug it (leave it plugged in for 5 secs), then unplug (leave it unplugged for 5 secs) and repeat. I can not get it to flash red to pair. Any ideas?
dumb question, have you tried moving the lamp closer to your router? to test
Was the extender/repeater issue looked into? As in deep dive. I'm thinking if the repeater allows port 6668/6669 communication between the repeater clients
Aye, literally within arm's length
I think the wifi extender stuff was mentioned by @maiden depot as a hardware issue with tuya stuff
whether or not it can be worked around with hardware wizardry im not sure
Interesting, cause both devices should use 2.4GHz wifi common, so hardware issue?
5sec might be too long, some people and myself have found you can just rapidly unplug replug too whcih should work
i plugged and unplugged rapidly a few times, then slower. the green would flash once, then i unplug again. the next time i plug it in, very slowly pull the plug out so its still connected but not super tight. this put it into pairing mode most of the time
I figured it out, how it works for me. Since I have pretty bad Wi-fi in my room, it wouldn't work but now it worked after reconnecting a few times. I also only had signal for like 2 mins and after that it died, but it at least worked and now I know how I can make it work.
Btw. thanks for the help yesterday @edgy loom I fell asleep and did not have any motivation to continue with it.
So thank you for that

Mind sharing how u got it to work?
Potentially dumb question does the lamp work for evil streams too bc i turned it on with stream sync and it stays red
No
ok ty
It works, just the color doest change
evil has no control over it
tbh may as well turn stream sync off during evil streams
I did the reconnection like they did in the pinned video. After I did that like 3 times with red light blinking, I had connection for 2 mins. then after that, it broke up again. at least I could activate the stream sync mode. The last 2 pictures I still have now, probably because of the bad wi-fi by the lamp.
the last 2 is an old UI for a case that didnt happen but now does happen with a bunch of fixes, in reality you should just unpair-repair if you get that (unless it's caused by an unstable internet connection)
the last 2 generally imply that it was paired and got wifi creds, but if it worked then not usually that implies the connection it was using no longer exists, is unstable, or got changed
Hiya I searched but didn't really find anything, my app is stuck requesting bluetooth permissions when it already has them, are there any solutions to this? on a pixel 8 latest android version
is the app up to date
well
you just said that i guess
the permissions loop was a bug from several versions ago so im surprised you're seeing it
what are you seeing exactly, what screens or popups?
Double checked, yeah app is up to date
ah yeah
if you click open phone settings and navigate to your app's permissions (assuming it doesnt bring you there instantly), what does it say?
that screens pops up when there's a permission labeled as "blocked" which means it's either disabled in the phone or you declined it access previously so for security reasons on phones you can't re-request
it has location/nearby devices as allowed, and if I open menu all permissions it shows many more including bluetooth but pressing those gives no options just explains what it is
oh when I first opened app my phones bluetooth was disabled so i went out and enabled it. I guess that blocked it? can I unblock it somehow?
that shouldnt cause it afaik, can you hit maybe later > settings > troubleshooting mode on then copy debug logs and post them here or in a pastebin
https://pastebin.com/fjKs85M3 here's the log. Thank you btw
Pastebin.com is the number one paste tool since 2002. Pastebin is a website where you can store text online for a set period of time.
location is the one being denied
do you have location services on your phone disabled entirely?
in android for me it's just Settings > Location > "Use location" toggle and then for app-specific you can also tap "App location permissions" on that same screen further down and make sure SwarmSync is there under "Allowed all the time" "Allowed only while in use" or "Ask every time"
(if you do, you can turn it back off after pairing, just needs to be on to pair)
It was on, and its allowed only while in use
but precise location was turned off so I turned that on and it seems to work now so that was it. Weird but good its fixed, thank you for the help
Hopefully I won't be back here with another issue in 5min

Ok, it turned on and off automatically now.
Let’s see next Neuro stream, will it change color or not?
Im not able to connect to my lamp im not sure what's wrong
Put it in pairing mode and it was flashing red but went green.
You've connected the app to your wifi right?
Yeah
Hmm.. could try unplugging and plugging it back in to restart the lamp, or restarting the app but that's all I can guess
No prob, sometimes ya just gotta hit the big ol' restart to get tech working lol

the classic IT solution turn it off and on again
My lava lamp aint lava lamping. Its been on for 4 hours 😭😭😭
Oh wait this needs to go in the other thread
Found the thread
, here are some screenshots I will continue to try and read this thread tomorrow

Why is the last error just “doing” 😭
Anyway just check the pinned messages and try everything in there
If none work then send another message in here
Unfortunately, I'm encountering the exact same issues as Fizo has above
I tried resyncing a number of times, with two different phones, but nothing seems to be working.
Notes:
- Ensured network name and password were correct
- Network is a 2.4G network
- No VPN, wifi extender, or other network interference was in play
- I tried clearing the app cache as well as clearing app data between attempts
- Both Android and Apple apps give the same results
- All permissions were granted, settings page confirmed this
Here's the screenshots I got showing the unique errors, though they're the same as the ones above. Really sad I can't use it yet, but fingers crossed a fix is released soon
Also, a side note about the pairing - typically the red light flashes for about 5-10 seconds only before switching back to green, as if it's alright. It never actually pairs, but I think it can tell the app is looking for it or something.
tuya wtf is "doing" as an error code man
afaik 207006 happens when you're doing to pair a lot rapidly, looking at proper docs it references a device that is already pairing
to both @rustic zealot @brisk lance have you tried pairing in the tuya smart life app referenced in the pin and confirmed if that works or not
Yeah, figured that one out looking at the guide
Checking with Tuya now
Negative on the Tuya
It sees it at least, that's something.
swarmsync likely saw it too, there's just no feedback for when it changes from scan -> activating
Yeah, think thats why it goes from red > green instantly but nothing after
if the tuya official app is failing there's stuff at the wifi-level that is wrong rather than the app failing (normally)
next thing to try is a phone hotspot
interesting. I did try the hotspot on my other phone and it failed, but trying it with my android and that one went through
Guess that really does mean it's just a borked network thing?
sometimes? the networking side of things for tuya is complicated, but since the main tuya app isn't working you may be able to find some decent resources about tuya connect errors
Well i just tried another experiment trying to sync it to my AP router I use for networking projects and it synced instantly

so main router is a no-go, but the AP router with the wack IP config is a-ok
xd
happy ending ig
its silly in the same sense that a 5g router is bad but a phone re-broadcast in a hotspot of the same 5g connection works
exactly. last question i guess, does it have a on-off button or do i just unplug the power cable?
in the app there's an on/off yeah
awesome. thanks for the help, really appreciate it
So with the Tuya app I was able to connect to the lamp via bluetooth instead of wi-fi. Will need to do more testing tomorrow...
probably some wi-fi jank like fiskbone
yeah if wifi is failing and only bluetooth works then there's a wifi issue in some regard (coudl be one of the issues in the pins)
Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask.
I just got my lava lamp and the first time I got some connection issue, I didn't remember what's the error number.
And then the lava lamp showed green light, even if I tried to disconnect and re-connect the power cable for more than 3 times.
It seems like it could not enter pairing mode, is there any way to fix this?
Thanks!
Settings, troubleshooting mode on, resync device list
If that doesn’t work out check out the 2nd pinned message
Hey there! I just set up my lava lamp, but there isn't a brightness setting, just the color setting. It might be because I have a Samsung Fold? Is there a different way to access the brightness settings?
Could be a gui issue, post a screenshot
There's one from the "unfolded" screen
One from the "folded" screen
Update the app
There isn't any option to update unfortunately.
You will have to wait for a new update to fix the GUI

Hahaha no worries, thanks for the help!
how does one do the pairing mode on the lamp
it did it the first time but now i cant get it to do it
Unplug and replug your lamp
and do it quickly
okay got it but getting Error 207019
Try connecting to a hotspot, like your phone
and try the Tuya Smart Life app
Having issues with swarm sync. I was able to connect with the Tuya Smart Life, and able to turn off bluetooth and still control the lamp. However, going back to swarm sync, its stuck on searching for lamp, no errors or anything, its just not finding the lamp
Read the 2nd pinned message
which part
i had tried pairing for the better part of an hour last night, and now trying this morning with same issues
Are u using any of these: vpn, wifi extender, 5 ghz instead of 2.4ghz?
Have you tried creating a hotspot and using that to pair your lamp?
yes, tried that just now, still same issue
plus, it paired and controlled properly without bluetooth to the Tuya app, so i dont think its an issue with my wifi
What error are you getting?
no error message or number, it just stays on "Searching for lamp" without finding the lamp, and then eventually says it cant find it
Can you replug your lamp rapidly 3 times
yes
What errors are you getting?
Can you upload logs
"code":207019,"msg":"connect router error"
i can see that
your wifi ssid and pwd you entered seem to have witespaces at the end
"ssid":"B******* ","password":"e******* "
Are you connecting far away from the router
technologica
i am able to connect to Tuya and using hotspot. But still not working in swarm sync
and i have no blue light
Contact juniper
This is an issue with hardware
by DM?
I tried to unplug and plug it back in, won't turn to red to sync...
Does it at least flash red?
No
Are you using a travel adapter?
Howdy, sorry to bother. My wifi is a 5GHz network. So is it impossible for me to pair it ?
Most modern routers come with 2.4 ghz, check your network, perhaps you have a setting enabled with combines the two and pick the best one
Well problem is i'm still at my parents house, so its their wifi. I don't have the password and stuff to access the settings and stuff, so i guess it's just gonna stay green for now. Thank you still for your fast answer
You could try creating a hotspot and using that, or connect to tuya smart life app
I have no idea how to create a hotspot, i'm
And know close to nothing about tecnology. So i'll try the tuya smart life app
It works with the tuya smart life app
Maybe i'll try and look to create a hotspot thingy later, to use the actual app. But it will do for now, thank you
I think the board is fried. I can smell burnt too.
I did, thanks...
the brightness should definitely be there on that UI, there is definitely bad issues on that screen in particular for tablets but when its in the thin UI it should show up, weird it isn't
are you still having an issue? can you try to pair one more time and then after letting it sit for at least 5mins (it will usually time out by this point if all checks fail) go into settings > troubleshooting mode on > copy debug logs and then post them here in either a txt or pastebin
just curious, is it working in tuya app using bluetooth mode? or is it working with wifi (can you disable bluetooth and still control it)?
Using bluetooth. Can't use the wifi cause of the 5ghz problem
ah ok just makin sure
I wanna get better at coding to do stuff like developing apps
so err we've all had problems with linking the lamp with the app, but what happens when the lava lamp doesnt want to turn off anymore?

cant change color either stuck ijn stream sync mode
Send logs
Resync device list
Been doing that
Oh
Wait
It changed color
welp nvm app made me unpair and repair the lamp
well turns out if you on dual band wifi (mines a xiaomi) the app has problems syncing with the lamp
That’s covered in the pinned message
i meant connecting to 2 wifi networks at once
my main wifi connection was a 2.4ghz, but my phone also connected to another wifi at the same time
some phones got that option
Anyone can help?
I put my Wi-Fi name and password and still nothing
I make sure to start pairing after replugging the lamp 3 times
try moving closer to the router?
I'm literally next to it
oh
Like 1 metre away
click maybe later and click on resync?
Still nothing
Create a hotspot and use that
I actually did it just before you made this message
and yeah, it works on my mobile hotspot
(not my PC hotspot, even though I set it to 2.4Ghz
)
eh, it's a bit inconvenient for me, but at least it works, I guess
As it turns out this lamp is very much not wanting to pair right now
I have confirmed the network being connected to is 2.4GHz exclusive, the router is split into separate networks for each band
I guess I need to buy a separate mobile device, make a hotspot with it and keep it at my PC 24/7

Does your wifi have 5GHz?
The error also seems to be different each time, so not sure what the root cause is
Hell if I knew
Probably

I have no clue how to check it
(yes, I'm that backwards with tech)
try the tuya smart life app 📌
I guess I'll try
I have no clue what that is though
lamp has tuya chip inside
I've heard of that
you shouldn't need to do that all the time it's just to check if your router was being the problem
if your router is just doing 5ghz you can change it to also do 2.4ghz and connect it to that!
It says failed to connect to router
Which to me makes no sense but I guess I gotta figure out why it's failing
The problem is, I have absolutely no clue how to operate my router 😭
I will try to figure it out tomorrow
Errored with failed to connect to router
I see no reason as to why it would
check the 📌 here
try hotspot to make sure your lamp wifi is ok
Gn all
So it paired with a hotspot...
Concerning
What are your WIFI settings? Band / channel / protocol
Maybe we can filter down the root cause this way
It's using two networks, one is 2.4GHz only and the other adds 5G to the name and is 5GHz only
I was surprised that my weird network worked first try
yeah that seems ideal
Unless the lamp is completely blocking out the signals coming to it, I see no reason for it to not work
The lamp is operating mainly on 6668 and 6669
I assume it establishes outgoing connections rather than needing incoming connections
The other error it likes along with the router connection failure is a 207009
the lamp broadcasts on port 6667
I assume it tries to connect to the router and then the remote server
Dunno if it does via IP address or direct IP
I see DNS resolutions made by the lamp
I don't think anything on the router should be blocking port 6667 at least
I can grab the router settings though
I was able to pair it later, though it said something about the lamp not connecting to the internet and to check the homepage. No issues showed up there, and i can control it without bluetooth enabled, so don't know what that message meant. Its working fine
It is not bluetooth controller, but remote online
I can't figure out why it's not doing the thing
ok so I have one more issue... for some reason I can't change the lamp color?
it's green and green only
Does the WiFi mode matter?
There's options like 802.11b and 802.11g
Pinging from the laptop, it times out requests
Yeah there is the problem nvm
So?
didn't help
Do you see the lamp in the list?
yes
and you are on hotspot rn right?
yes, still on hotspot
Do you have a chance of using 2.4/5 in the hotspot?
ok, I found out why my lamp doesn't change the color
and this is the most hilarious thing you could think of
for some fucking reason, my app connected with the lamp my dad has in my room
WHAT
SOME RANDOM ASS LAMP, THAT'S NOT EVEN A LAVA LAMP
BUT FOR SOME REASON I CAN CHANGE ITS COLORS
THIS IS SO FUCKIGN HILARIOUS
I mean it makes sense when you think of it as a IOT lamp
wait I need to record it
So anyway any clue as to why my lamp is not connecting on the main WiFi?
I see literally no reason it shouldn't

sorry, for some reason the recording cut off once I switched from camera to my Swarm Sync app
but I swear to god, I don't make this shit up
Ok, I have an idea, but we need to go deeper
since you know how to operate around python3
Your dads lamp connected to swarm sync?
Eh, not sure if this laptop has Python installed
apparently? but how the fuck is this possible
Tuya chip
and why it's not connected to MY GODDAMN LAMP
Sure then
oh great, then I'll send you a python3 file with basic data
disconnect that lamp from power temporarily
pair up your lava lamp
and then you can repower that other lamp
I would suggest turning of your dads lamp while you are trying to connect
oh wait im stupid, you would need to connect to the main wifi first

I wanted to do network connection thing, but you would need connection first
Actually, do you see the lamp receiving a DHCP IP address in the router?
Well my laptop is connected to it
@near lily what’s your issue?
I don't know if it's just that it doesn't update but I don't see a new device appear
Lamp not connecting on main WiFi, reason is not apparent
Do you have vpn on, wifi extender?
it worked
No, none of that
man, why is there so much issues with these lamps
Scuffed lamp thingy
Technology
Any errors?
It seems to like failed to connect to router and whatever 207009 is
Classic
The root cause is not apparent though
Did hotspot work for you?
That’s a question for magic 8ball
Does lava lamp work only with 2.4G wi-fi networks?
Shame
Why?
Wa
Doesn't sound like that helps with the lamp
Most routers come with 2.4 ghz
I have an idea before restarting
Because i will need to do something to make my phone connect to both 5g and 2.4g networks. Hell, i don't even have 2.4g network right now
Restarting stuff is kinda annoying and I like to avoid it
although do not know what kind of router you have Superbox
This thing is an Inteno router
On routers settings there you can split in to 2.4 and 5
does it have manual IP address assignment based on MAC address
An Inteno EG400 it seems like
No clue where to look to figure that out
ah
I have this phone, one that has a dead network chip and one that has a battery that discharges while plugged in
Any family members?
Yeah, i know. I just want to still use 5G network for fast connection to watch streams or other stuff. Will need to do some digging in documentation to find how i can make phone use different networks for different apps or something like that
I guess, not sure how another device would help though

@topaz willow edit: (sorry for the ping mate)
I would assume just making a secondary network with 2.4GHz only would be enough
Idk im thinking outside the box
I doubt it's about the phone
After you done the connection to the 2.4GHz from the lamp, your phone can use the 5GHz
only the lamp is required to use 2.4GHz
you do not even need to be on the same network to change the lamp
From the way I understand you only need to give 2.4 ghz cred to the lava lamp, you could still use 5ghz (thats not been tested, but u could try that for us)
Can confirm, I did my pairing while my phone was on 5GHz, it just needs to be able to communicate directly
I see
Oh, so the lamp management goes not directly from lamp to the phone but via remote server and they don't need to be in one network?
Nope
With what exactly?
Router/wifi
Is your laptop connected to the network via cable btw?
Doesn't seem to be
No it's my remote laptop connected via WiFi
The same 2.4GHz WiFi the lamp is supposed to use
Actually. Does your WIFI contain any special character!?
the poor desk
The name has a -
does the hotspot have a dash?
no, vedal and I didn't think it would be a big deal if users added non-lamp stuff
No it's my phone's model name
Ah okay then
Can you try please unlinking the lamp, change the hotspot name to contain a dash and retry?
i went to a meeting and 200 messages popped up in here
Gotta connect neuro to my smart home
bro if theres an issue connecting to wifis with special characters im blowing up
That is going to be fucking hilarious
cause my wifi does not contain dash and it worked
Can you rename you wifi to include special characters and try that
Yeah one second
Fuck im gonna explode from this coughing
It pairs fine
Sorry what?
Pairs fine with the hotspot when it has a -
This lamp is so scuffed
Oh the troubleshooting has gone on for so long the lamp is starting to be heated up by now
It just did something funny
im trying to catch up on this one, main wifi doesn't work, hotspot does?
does tuya app work with main wifi
ok it even works with ASD%\=[]<>ASD
or no
Not that either
That was one of the earliest attempted things
ok
these ones are the more tricky ones cause its usually some wifi issue and not the app, but it's absurd to try and pinpoint the issue cause tuya isnt very helpful at telling you
ok you do not even need to be on the same wifi
you don't, no
i pair to my 2G while on my 5G on the phone regularly
quite literally all it does is go "here lamp use this ssid/pwd to try and connect to a local wifi network"
the app tries to load your active SSID but you can change it
Than why doesnt it work
when i hear
It's truly so confusing
app doesnt work, tuya doesnt work, hotspot works
i read the wifi is incompatible in some regard
Well I would need to know what makes it incompatible
but there's so many potential things that could be wrong
yeah
tuya just returns generic errors when the wifi is imploding
Does it error out on DHCP failure?
even the official app is no better
I don't know what it fails on, it only gives me, at seemingly random, one of two error codes
if you're trying to test wifi stuff make sure you're testing with the tuya app since it's a better source of truth for if a fix worked or not, just make sure it doesnt pair bluetooth only
since if the chip manufacturer's app doesnt work, swarmsync definitely wont xd
Well right now both definitely fail
This time Tuya didn't even give a proper error, just says failed to add the device
Would it be possible to factory reset routers settings? @topaz willow
I'm not doing that, I need my server stuff
The WiFi configuration is unchanged from the defaults though
Server?
My main PC works as a server
how far away is the lamp from the router?
you said no special characters in the SSID but what about the password?
do you have WPA or WPA2 enabled or only WPA3?
This specific router lets me have a free static IP for it
Can you temporarily disconnect your pc?
Oh
The lamp is within range, I can get range on my phone below, behind and above it, and it's not even minimal range
The password has no special characters
I can try changing the encryption mode configuration from WPA2 only to WPA + WPA2
Nope, changing to mixed WPA/WPA2 mode did not help
WPA3 is not supported by the router
Wait did I change it on the wrong network by accident?
Am I dumb
No it was the right network
I wish you good luck on fixing your problem, i have to sleep
This lava lamp is so convoluted
do you have any other smart devices in your house, the chip used for the lava lamp uses pretty common standards (AFAIK) for smart stuff
No, not as far as I'm aware
it uses CBU-IPEX which is pretty much standard iirc
All other devices connecting to WiFi are phones and laptops
you may be able to find hints in how to fix it by searching your issue for smart devices in general then
I'm not finding anything specific to my router
ok just tested, works on 2GHz B/G/N any frequency, any channel width
went through the whole options in my mikrotik
one thing I did not try is hidden SSID
Pretty sure mine is not hidden SSID
OKAY! Hidden SSID causes 207006: doing
doing what
OH connect router error hello
now it worked
the message for 207006 is so useless but its basically device already in progress of pairing
hidden ssd works as well
Is there any way to confirm if the lamp is getting signal? There's signal all around it 100% at least
It wouldn't be blocking the entire signal would it?
I mean it connected to your laptop, that should not be a problem
Would be cool to know what error 207009 actually means
Connected to phone, not laptop
The laptop doesn't hotspot
I have like 3 different devices right here
What does this 207009 mean? It's so annoying
Welp guess it's time to try restarting this thing
207009 Unknown error.
https://developer.tuya.com/en/docs/app-development/android-bluetooth-ble?id=Karv7r2ju4c21#title-37-Error codes
This topic describes the technology to create a peer-to-peer connection bet......
welcome to tuya xd
those are the tuya error codes
they suck xd
if it's related to a wifi incompatibility issue the usefulness goes out the window
ghidra?
I mean might as well
This has been going on for so long the lava lamp heated up and started doing the lava lamp thing
Hopefully this doesn't become another one of those issues like the time the Windows 10 living room PC refused to install a newer version of Windows and I had to jump trough 40 hoops over like 4 years to get it to do so
I have 0 clue as to what to try

I found nothing regarding issues specific to my router, I don't see anything wrong with the router configuration, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz are isolated, it should all work fine
But then it gives useless errors that mean nothing
This lava lamp must be the single most confusing device I've ever encountered
No other device ever has refused to connect to the WiFi network at all
It is a slight ways away from the router but my phone gets a fine signal all over the lamp so I don't think the lamp should have issues either
Can't really keep smashing my head against a wall all-night either trying to find what to do to make the lamp work
I don't know what to try any more
And I would very much like my lamp to not need to be tethered to my phone all the time
Cannot connect with any of the trouble shooting steps but atleast I got a green lava lamp
💀 bro same
Basically what I've been trying to fix since I turned on the lamp
Probably gonna have to give up for today
Mine has discrete 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks
But it still doesn't do the thing
really no clue whats on going there lol
