#Swarm Sync issues

i did it with like 1s intervals
have you ever gotten it to blink red?
Twice, once when I initially plugged it in, but by the time I got the app ready it stopped, and again when I was unplugging and replugging, but only for a second or 2, then the app failed to connect
and just to confirm, the pairing steps is
- start with it plugged in, should be green
- unplug the cable from the back of the lamp, wait up to 2-3s, replug it back into the lamp
- instantly unplug it again, wait that same delay, replug
- repeat step 3, you shouldve now unplugged and replugged it 3 times total
- when you plug it back in the last time, it should turn green for a moment and then blink before starting to blink red quickly
in your second case, were you able to submit wifi credentials? or did it stop before you could
It stopped before I could
My lava lamp just stays green and won’t start flashing I’ve unplugged it
Multiple times and still nothing
It still couldn’t find my WiFi just keeps searching and never finding my lamp
if the lamp itself is failing to enter pairing mode probably report it to #1432287162753351802, pairing mode stuff is hardware-related. if you can get it to blink and then app is failing to pair with it while it's actively blinking red that'd be a problem for here

Hello, i think i have a bluetooth issiue or something, everything works fine, it goes to pairing mode, the app is searching, i even checked bluetooth devices and it showed up as TY, but it wont connect to the lamp
or it is a wifi issiue, but i think if wifi doesnt work, bluetooth should still connect, maybe?
you using 2.4GHz wifi?
yes i cant even activate another
tried these yet? check pinned msg
there's a new build which has some important changes that might help a lot of people, it's currently being reviewed by playstore so it should be available soonish
going to bed soon but if needed can test stuff tomorrow after work
i copied the log its too long for here 😅
put it in txt file and share that
they wrote a roman and it just arrived today 😅
UK set to and located in
if you go to settings > troubleshooting mode > resync device list it will probably show up
i see the device being paired in some of your debug logs
UK and located in
okay and what do i do with it?
uhh i guess it worked
thank you
xd
vwery strange 😅
thats a bug im hoping is fixed by the new build coming
but need to see logs after it gets approved
thank you a lot
So the app just shuts down every time the moment it starts searching for my lamp.. Is the app just bugged or something atm?
what device?
also, for the android folks the new update should be live, for any pairers I await logs (if it errors)
I'm on android
Ok so after updating the app it's not shutting down anymore. But now it's saying "unable to connect" with the error code "207003: missing param: ssid"
can confirm it now works, im synced and everything
can you copy logs since it's not crashing anymore? maybe later > settings > troubleshooting mode > copy debug logs
(for @grim talon)
GG my dude
hopefully more people can confirm it stopped doing the weird error into required resync
if that bug was squashed that will be a lot less bug reports xd
Want me to dm you the logs or just post it here?
you can post here
Not sure if it got all jumbled up.. It was too much to send in a plain message
is your app updated? im seeing the device in your debug logs, so if you're on the not latest version you may be able to fix it by going settings > troubleshooting mode on > resync device list
i should probably remember to actually reply since people may tab away from the discord lol @grim talon
or rather itll fix the issue whether you're on latest or not, but resync should fix it based on the logs
I tried it and I am seeing the lamp in my "list" so it should be connected. But whenever I click it it says "unknown error reaching device"
I'll try pairing it again to see if that fixes anything
update the app and try unpairing then repairing it
there's a state where the lamp can fail to pair wifi sometimes
also make sure the wifi name field is actually filled out, in your logs it was blank 2 of the 3 pairing attempts
it wont persist if you have to repair a second or third time (something I need to also fix at some point)
Yea that's probably because I went into my modem settings to switch it to 2.4, and while there I also reset my login info
oh
yeah if you changed your wifi info thatll definitely do it
the wifi you give it will what it uses to receive information, so if you ever change the wifi name or password you'll need to resync it
Alright I resynced it and it all seems to be working properly now, thanks a million for the help!

@edgy loom @topaz willow I finished the guide, feel free to check it out and let me know if there's anything I should change 🙂 https://github.com/IceBotYT/ha-neuro-lamp
Hi guys, how should this problem be handled?
Code 148 is a Bluetooth timeout. Try following the steps in the pinned message
Try to rapidly plug and unplug the lava lamp 3 times.
most common problem with a bluetooth timeout on ios is using a 5G network instead of a 2.4G network
i am not sure if i can get 2.4G network at my house, i don't have access to wifi settings here because i am only renting a room and don't control the wifi, but the only network being sent from the routers are 5G, does that mean i cannot get my lamp to connect to my app at all?
Thats what i am wondering tbh
5G wifi is such a normal thing to have in most homes
im wondering how this is even a problem
supposedly 2.4G is the standard for most smart light technology, and afaik all 5g routers should be capable of emitting a 2.4g network as well
Well i sure would love to know how to use it then
but yeah id love if it worked with 5g but thats not in the control of myself or vedal thats a fault of smart light manufacturers
doing some light googling, 2.4g is the standard but some brands have been experimenting with 5g or dual bands but 2.4g is just easier to make
so I guess it makes sense for the lava lamp to follow suit
it would have likely made it take longer if they tried to dual band or focus on 5g
so, quick question, i just got my lamp and i put in the wifi and all that, the lamp flashes red and then it goes to green, but it doesn't pair with the app, does anyone know the fix?
yeah the lamp is built on technology from one of the popular smart home tech manufacturers, which follows that standard
firstly what device? if android, are you updated? there was an app update a little bit ago with an important fix to a few things
okie, are you trying to pair with a 5G network?
i dont think so
routers usually broadcast a dual-band (5G/2.4G combined, sometimes works sometimes not depends on the router), or two spearate networks one for each
the most common issue with ios pairing failure is using a 5G network sicne the lamp can't connect to them (usually)
can also copy paste debug logs here (settings > troubleshooting mode > copy debug logs)
while you're there try the resync button though thats usually a magic button for android not ios
actually i forget if ios has the resync button yet
so ok
im also having the same trouble with iphone
my router is definitely broadcasting 2.4 and 5
how do i like
choose
Pastebin.com is the number one paste tool since 2002. Pastebin is a website where you can store text online for a set period of time.
there's my debug logs
also i tried everything else you said about the resync, didn't work
nothing looks incredibly out of place, if I had to guess it'd be a wifi thing. you can do a sanity check by trying to pair the device on the official tuya smart life app. if you can only pair via bluetooth and not wifi it's the fault of the wifi
depends on your router, but for example I have a TP-Link AC1750 and I have a setting in my router for a 2.4GHz network
erm thats a good question
I use a bog standard AT&T router they gave us because we dont get a choice
BGW320-500
i'm not a huge networking guy so I asked the robot, but it looks vaguely correct https://chatgpt.com/s/t_6902e18fb15081919f156a899c232efb
so the Tuya app worked, so i'm guessing that means it's the wifi's fault?
did it pair with wifi or only bluetooth
the best way is to go directly to the site of your specific internet retailer, in heir's case at&t, and find their internet support section, it should have a way to get to your router ip address and adjust from there
it paired with wifi, like it asked for the network name and password and it worked
so if you disable bluetooth on your phone, it still lets you control the device from the app right
so i guess this just isnt gonna work
love wasting 60 dollars
hmm ok so the wifi shouldnt be an issue, can you reenable bluetooth, go back and try to pair in swarmsync + make 100% sure wifi creds are the same, then copy debug logs again if it still fails
okay i'll give it a try, thanks for all your help btw
probably contact vedal maybe he'll be able to help more
also why in world does a bluetooth device even need wifi connection
its literally a router problem
I expected this to just be attached to the phone
it's so neuro can communicate with it, the phone isn't a middleware for the two things
then why even have an app
oh the swarm app works now, i don't know what changed, but it's connected, thanks a lot for your help.
you could try the tuya app like deviairz did to double check the wifi issue
this is a massive problem that literally every iphone user will have and most people cant adjust their router settings
router stuff being one thing there are plenty of people who have downloaded and gone through everything with no issues
its the company who manufactured the smart light chip that is used to let neuro control it from the cloud
they do a lot of smart device things so they have their own app to generically control them
its been used as a sanity check for a handful of people who were having wifi connection issues, like deviairz before you who got it to work after trying it
ok i have the tuya app installed
exact what am i supposed to do?
sorry if you said earlier its late an di have a headache
top right should be a + icon > add device, it starts scannign for devices at this point. then you put the lamp in pairing mode so the app picks it up
if you're at the login step there should be a login as guest in small text at the bottom iirc
local network or bluetooth
local network
same as swarmsync try to input your wifi credentials and see if it connects
if it looks like it does try disabling bluetooth and seeing if you can still change the light
if all that works your wifi should be fine
found it instantly
detecting the lamp is normal, the swarmsync app usually doesnt have issue finding the lamp either it has issues activating it with the wifi credentials
itll just bundle it all into the same device not found if it fails though
im 99% certain iv ebeen putting those in right
did it pair on the tuya app
it did
ok, now maybe if you head back to the swarmsync itll just magically work like it did for dev
i assume i should be fully pairing it with the Tuya App?
also make sure you can still control it with bluetooth off from tuya app
on tuya or swarmsync
able to control it from the app even with bluetooth off as well?
yes
ok, try heading back to swarmsync and re-pair it, triple check wifi stuff is the same
(bluetooth needs to be on right?)
yeah yeah turn it back on
its not connecting
it goes from flashign to green decently queickly and thats it
like flashing to green quickly when you submit wifi? or in general before you can even submit wifi
i submit wifi
its stays flashing for li want to say liek 10-15 seconds
then it goes to green
maybe i need to update my phone?
surely that cant be the problem
ah yeah pairing mode times out naturally after about that long
I'll update IOS and get back to you
I swear if this is the problem...
if the net works on the tuya app there might be something strange going on for your swarmsync
it shouldnt be, but thats not bad to try lol
47 minutes to update
welp
it might actually be an IOS problem
I somehow uh
havent updated from IOS 18 (current version 26)
Morning
???
yeah that is a year out of date which is eternity for phone life
lmao
we will know if its an IOS problem in about 10 minutes
id welcome if that was the problem cause then its an easy fix
the good news is that the wax hasnt moved a whole lot yet so im not missing a whole lot yet
Settings, troubleshooting mode on, resync device list
its an iphone in this case i dont think its that same problem
though maybe who knows
Idk, most of the time when people came with stuck green color, that resolved the issue, I didn’t ask if they are ios or android

bad news guys
the wax has begun to move before i could get it sync'd
ive also asked to kick off an ios build to try and get ios to have the more updated debug logging and bugfixes (though i think most fixes were android oriented since it looked like most ios users didnt have a ton of issues)
if this si truly just an "iphone app needs to be fixed" moment ill be happy
If only i was neuro fan a year earlier and had purchased the lamp
for what its worth my iphone which works with the app is on ios 18 as well
I first created the thread to show Vedal GUI bugs, then people began receiving lamps, and here we are now
Another one falls to the Great Demon Eduroam

Enjoy the lava lamp and the new Ios
another L for ios
I do hate to be that guy, but I do wonder if it had more to do with just a restart of the phone. I have had a lot of weird wireless bugs and issues on both iOS and Android just magically by a simple restart.
Same but I like the UI and feel more
glowy
It looks nice even with the lights on
Oh yeah, is your UI to scale? Not too big, not too small?
That was a thing I was really worried about when I first saw the prototypes
Let me check
Looks real nice
I feel like the bottom buttons could be a little bit lower
But I understand why they aren’t
That is space for android buttons
It’s also space for the little home bar on iPhone
But I feel like it could be just a little bit lower
yeah my main phone is an iphone too lol
i love iphone as a consumer but ive grown to hate it as a dev
This is my first time seeing the liquid glass stuff. I don’t hate it but it’s rather different
(In the IPhone UI I mean)
its definitely not just you, i think the autoscaling stuff that was implemented for android might be overcorrecting on ios
Dev of the year
my iphone's app is a bit scaled up more than it should be
i did do one small tweak in the build in the coming days but i dont think itll fully fix it (or do anything at all, in some cases)
think I need to do some investigation on iphone screen sizes and dpis across difference iphones and adjust the scaling for ios specifically
...and also fix the device config page for tablets

Please do I love the size of iphone SE2
so question:
sync to stream turns off after like
10 seconds of it being on
is it not working currently
oh i see
changing the color immediately turns it off
that feels like a bug
not a bug that's just a different mode currently
either manually set the color or stream sync will set it when in stream sync mode!
there's been some feature requests to allow for editing color with stream sync on. its possible but was letting dust settle with early bugs taking prio
it is intended functionality for the time being
figured as much
would be nice to have a color i want instead of the dark red while the stream is off
generally if stream sync is on lamp will be auto turned off/on so your lamp won't be on anyways (except for 2 hours before stream)
but yeah we might add something like that!
Ok so the app update completely messed up my lamp pairing for me. Sometimes it works, but like 90% of the time it does this and throws out different errors when I try to re-enter my wifi info. I have tried unpairing and re-pairing, but again it took forever to get it to work and was again, throwing out several different errors. Before the update I had no issues getting it to connect.
Try unpairing and repairing, that UI is pretty niche and wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t functioning perfectly. It happens when the lamp for any reason receives correct(?) WiFi credentials but fails to pair them correctly
I did try that, I got it to successfully re-pair but the issue persists.
sometimes when I close and re-open the app, it will be connected again but only works for a short time
uh
that’s odd, the app doesn’t do anything in particular that would make it work randomly like that for a short time
Can you disable the check device status toggle, restart the app, and try to repair the device? Then copy those logs
I hope nothing in my lamp is broken I will literally cry
The logs get really cluttered if that toggle is on and there’s a device detected
It’s probably not broken
i'd say its very unlikely the lamp
so we can probably fix it don't worry!
can see the device just fine in the backend
Thank goodness
I’ll also note make sure you actually unpair the device before trying to repair (the … menu top left let’s you do this)
I think I did it right
could it be an issue with my wifi or something? my computer is on a wired connection so if the wifi is acting up I probably wouldn't notice
that was a theory
It’s showing the weird UI there?
how good is your wifi
Yeah we had thoughts if the connection is unstable it could cause this
generally pretty stable, it would be a weird coincidence if it starting acting up immediately after I updated the app
are you still getting the error?
The logs would imply that everything went smoothly from what I can tell

When you paired did you see the incomplete pairing screen? Or did it pair properly but it only shows the error on the device page?
let us know if the issue returns
Or is it just working fully now lol
as soon as I dump my logs it's like NEVER MIND IM ALL BETTER
I'll update if the issue starts again
Roger
Good reminder that I need to update that niche UI so people don’t click on it and get those nasty errors
It was an attempt to allow users to salvage a bad WiFi pairing but the Tuya documentation for it is horrid and wasn’t ever able to get it working consistently
Time to clock in
Seems like the new update broke parings? Ill keep in mind to ask for logs
we dont think it did
but its never impossible

Just curious, you’ve said around 7k lamps were sold, how many have paired?
If that’s something you can disclose
Hey, i have so trouble pairing my lamp. The red blinking is for pairing but is it normal that the lamp goes green before finishing the pairing on my phone ?
(I got error 207009 on multiple tries if that help)
ok wait i didn't try the 2.4GHz thingy
If it goes green then go to settings, trouble shooting mode on, resync device pair
Ok I got something diffrent now, I have a 207019 error connection router, I might be too far from the router. Can i place to closer to pair it then move it away ?
Yes try that
Btw, I just wanted to ask because I couldn't find a mention of it but, did the dev say that they might implement features like random color switching and sleep timer mentioned here: https://discord.com/channels/574720535888396288/1433175633571221534 ? I thought they said that they are considering it but it's lower priority compared to fixing connection issues but I'm not sure
Yes, the dev said these color features will be implemented some time in the future after the connection issues are fixed
At least you're getting an error, I just keep getting the no lamp found screen :/
So the issue hasn’t been resolved
I dont remember have you used tuya to connect with the lamp?
@rain quartz Are you able to get your lamp to blink red?
Yep, unplug/plug 3 times, it flashes red for about 5 seconds.
Also I've set my wifi to 2.4ghz
Open your app and enter your networks details
And I've tried the recync button under troubleshooting mode
I don’t remember but have you tried tuya, did your lava lamp work with that app?
I tried Tuya, and it can't find the lamp either. That little radar dish just spins endlessly. This would be a lot easier to test if the lamp stayed in pairing mode until it was either unplugged or was connected. I don't understand why it only searches for a few seconds before giving up.
It could be network issue or lava lamp issue @rose oar
I really don't want to bother Vedal with this xd
Dev is asleep, id guess your time zone are way different
So vedal might be able to help you
If you don’t mind asking, from where are you?
UK
I can copy them on the phone, but I have no idea how to get them onto Discord on my desktop.
Also a new version was uploaded so you should update the swarm sync if you haven’t done that yet
That I haven't done, I'll do another clean install and see if that fixes anything.
Use pastebin, and paste the logs in tho that and just send the link here
Right, I have the log. Should I put it here or DM you? IDK how Leaky this thing is.
The log should not contain any private information
Unless you count SSID as private
I see things like "homeID" and it does make me a little schitzo
You can dm the log to @topaz willow he is the dev
He will be online in around 5 hrs tho
Am I allowed to DM him or is that like a do not disturb sort of deal?
Logs look fine
but im no dev to diagnose this
my lava lamp won't sync
cant find the device list for swarmlink_home apparently
i solved it just dumb
jsut one question i turned on the sync stream on
if il turned down the power off on the app it will automatically truned on 2 hours before the stream right ?
Has that been a common issue?
Yep, it will as long as swarm sync is enabled (and the lamp is plugged in obviously)
Ok so, the pairing work but ofc changing the light doesn't work if the lamp is again too far from the router so I use my phone as a hotspot when I want to change the light or turn it off and it works perfectly fine.
(If someone as the same problem as me then try this :D)

Make sure app is updated the logs look like ones from the previous version
Just a logging note, it logs that when device list is empty. Same thing as iOS users seeing the ssid detection failed, its not a real issue in 99.9% of cases it’s just a log for very niche stuff
This day was much calmer
Hi, I can't get the lamp to sync with my Smartphone.
I tried to reinstall the app.
I'm on a 2.4 GHZ connection.
I entered Wifi name and Network key multiple times so presumably didn't typo every singe time.
I can get the lava lamp to flash red for a few seconds.
The app just tries to find a lamp endlessly.
Pairing mode ends after a few seconds.
Tried to pair it several times.
There is no error message in the app.
Made a copy of the log.
As far as I can tell the App can't find the lamp even though it's in pairing mode and I don't know what to change.
Replug your lamp rapidly 3 times
I can get it into pairing mode, that's not an issue.
Those logs imply the Bluetooth scan is failing
Are you making sure the lamp is actively blinking red when you try to submit WiFi credentials?
I'll try to click the button while it's flashing
Pairing needs to be done whilst it’s actively blinking, the blinking is what makes it detectable by Bluetooth
yeah fixing the bug that made people have to resync helped a ton it seems
@topaz willow
Tried to submit after already it started flashing but didn't pair unfortunatly.
Did the color change to green?
Yes
ah yeah if Tuya can’t connect with WiFi either it’s probably a classic 5G incompatibility type issue
Settings, troubleshooting mode, resync device list
Can you send the logs again
Also thst if the app isn’t fully updated
It looked updated though
From what I could tell
@topaz willow read everything from here
I reinstalled it just an hour minutes ago

I tried that but I'll try again
Kelstada’s logs were old id need him to update to get anything super useful
No im wrong, it’s 4pm in uk
These logs look odd, can you restart the app and try repairing one more time and let it timeout (may take several minutes if it’s timing out) if needed, then copy those logs
It started a Bluetooth scan then just exited to device list for some reason lol
My lamp didn't connect with Swarm Sync but did connect with Tuya in Wi-Fi mode. Reinstalling Swarm Sync fixed it. Weird issue.
I'll let it timeout and try the Tuya App I suppose
Maybe you had an outdated version if you were on android lol
There was a recent patch yesterday for an impt android issue
I'm on iOS
hmm yeah bluetooth is just not liking you
try the tuya app and see if it can detect it, the bluetooth stuff has been pretty good so id be surprised if the bluetooth scan stuff has any issues on swarmsync side
Tuya app found it instantly
🤔
can you check the app-specific settings for swarmsync on your phone and make sure bluetooth/location perms are on and any location services are enabled too
I'm also on iOS, had the same issue, the lamp didn't connect with Swarm Sync but it did with Tuya (worked with Bluetooth off as well). Just reinstalled Swarm Sync after seeing Rene_Z's message, and it connected immediately.
It gave me a new error on Swarmsync this time, give me a minute
ive seen a few people like that, i might have to investigate if there's something strange with the ios device activation stuff
it doesnt seem to be every ios user, though, which is weird just like the android bug lol
It worked in Swarmsync after pairing it with the Tuya app for some reason, thank you
interesting
thats a rare one for android
dont think ive ever seen the bluetooth scan fail on any version
usually fails on the activator lol
if it works it works tho
that seems like a bug report for vedal more than anything
probably shouldn’t turn it on when it’s not a stream that can control it lol
Unfortunately some people are little bit too lazy to turn it off during those times
-# I am one of them
I think location on my phone may have been turned off. Swarmsync already had permission from the first install and thus didn't ask for permission again - but doesn't seem to check if location is actually enabled once it has permission.
Tuya app checked if location is enabled right away.
The Tuya, reinstall app thing worked finally! Thank y’all
ill add a sanity check for location services
those logs imply a similar bluetooth timeout to the other guy, can you go into your phone settings and make sure that location services is enabled for the app? (and bluetooth, though that one should warn you in the app)
or for your phone in general, if you were unable to pair with tuya
Humour me for a second, when pairing the lamp to the phone with Bluetooth, what is the lamp's name when listed under "available devices? because I just had the sinking feeling I might have been missing something very obvious.
i'm not sure honestly, i've never looked at the list, let me look real quick
i don't see it pop up at all actually, maybe because ive already done pairing sutff on this phone
in case you're not doing that to try and debug, you shouldnt need to pair it manually to the phone via bluetooth first like that
In that case, I have not missed the obvious thing, because that's what I thought I'd forgotten to do.
When the lamp was in pairing mode, a new device was added to the list of available devices named "TY." I'm trying to figure out if that's the lamp or if that was just a coincidence.
the key line here is
[log] unable to find device during bluetooth scan, timing out after 180011 ms
this implies that it never gets to the step where it tries to pair the lamp at all
@rain quartz Do you have another device u could use to pair?
So issue with a lava lamp?
But he’s in UK
i didnt mean region
for example on my android, I see location settings at
- Settings > scroll down a bunch > Location > "Use location"
- A bit further down on the same page "App location permissions"
- Check list of apps here and make sure SwarmSync is located under "Allowed all the time", "Allowed only while in use", or "Ask every time"
the app requests fine location detail, but if the location services are turned off on the phone entirely it wont matter
Seems like Evil can't control the Lava Lamps. the light would be off by now, not red
Nope, it's this phone or bust
Red implies live sync is on
It’s bug (feature?) vedal has to check
@rain quartz
Partial success this time, I actually got an error message, its error 207003
usually this happens if you forgot to reinput the ssid on a repeat pairing attempt
We have a winner
It's connected

What does error 207009 mean?
thats a generic error from tuya, not a helpful one lol
Turns out the app had location permission, but Location data was off on the phone as a whole so it didnt matter.
what did you do to get it
im trying to pair no sucess
fwiw if you want location stuff off, once lamp is paired you can go back and turn it off
It's a only have to connect once kind of deal then?
what device, are you trying to connect a 5G network, and is the app updated?
the pairing stage is only needed to give wifi crednetials to the lamp so it can talk with the tuya servers and neuro
huawei p30 lite,2.4g,i installed it 10 min ago but i can check
ok, can you copy the debug logs under settings, troubleshooting mode on
Well thank you for your help, it was always going to be something obvious that I'd missed lol

Finally I can rest peacefully now

did you check that the app is updated, the logs I think look up to date but I can't recall if I modified logs in the last android build
in play store theres no new update
scan looks fine, token got fetched, then it imploded on the activator step after a minute, which implies a wifi issue to me somewhat
can you do the wifi sanity test by instaling the tuya smart life app and trying to do a similar pairing process there? that will confirm if its a wifi issue
U did, but something broke and u asked vedal to re release the previous version
ok
well theres been a new one since that
You know what, one more question for the road, since I'm connected now, I can uninstall the Tuya app to free up the space on my phone yeah?
Yep
yup cant pair there either(through wifi).Tried to restart router didnt help
your logs were able to find the lamp so I don't think it's a location services issue, you mentioned it's a 2.4G but are you maybe using a dual-band connection? (5G/2.4G in a single ssid) some people reported separating the bands helped
if the official app is failing to connect via wifi it's usually a 5G related issue, or a bad wifi credentials issue
or using like eduroam
i have one for 2.4g and one for 5g im using the 2.4g one
bad wifi credentials as ssid and password? i verified several times the ssid and im pasting the password so i hope thats not the issue
no im not using eduroam
is it a distance issue perhaps? mine doesnt connect unless im closer but my room is far away from the router so im considering getting a wifi extender.
i do have a wifi extender in the room i guess it didnt help
ah
thats it
i remember klef said at some point
that tuya smart devices dont like wifi extenders
try moving closer to the main router so you dont have to rely on the extender and see if it connects
I got a question, does the app only switch off the led or the heating element too? Or do i need to unplug the lamp to switch it fully off?
ok ill try that
IIRC the power switch in the apps turn off the heating element as well
ah ok thanks
can always test it to be sure, but I believe thats the case
I still do the good old unplug the device that i dont use
well this is good to know now i know not to waste my money.
thats outside of my capabilities on the software side since it's a tuya hardware chip thing, can ask in the hardware issues channel perhaps, or maybe someone else who uses wifi extenders will chime in at some point here
Ah okay, makes sense. I’ll ask around in the hardware channel then. Thanks!
well just to end this im using my pc as wifi hotspot and its working thanks for all the help
nice glad you found a solution
Had a fight to get the thing to pair. Kept getting stuck in a "this device isn't paired, you should repair it"/"we detected a lamp but it's already set up in the cloud"/unpair menu option apparently does nothing situation, but I somehow eventually got it to work (once the instance of the lamp in the Swarm Sync home disappeared).
Along the way, I found the Home Assistant info on github, lol. Considering hooking the lamp up to mine...
I have the same error and tried this, but it didn't work for me... I have a custom DNS setup, so I can see, that the lamp is requesting specific addresses (just one time)
also pls ping, because i may forget to check here
is your custom DNS blocking any ports/ips addresses? the lamp needs certain ips to communicate

i logged out of the app out of curiosity now when i try and pair to lamp to the app again it cant find the lamp
the lamp is stupid
tried that myself and had no problems pairing it...
i wont pair
did you put it in pairing mode?
and your bt is on?
make sure bluetooth and location services are enabled for pairing
it all on
i had it working fine and synched to evil then logged out out of curiosity and now cant find the lamp
you tried Settings → Troubleshooting mode → "Resync Device List"?
ive tried that already
i dont know what that is
I got mine to work, i also had to connect it with tuya (guest accout worked) and then swarm sync was able to connect it. It kept saying router connect failed before so idk
im surprised i didnt even think of doing that, but i did that for myself. now i have the lamp connected too. many thanks
just curious, are you ios?
what's your room temp? according to juniper in #1432287162753351802 the ideal ambient temp is 22°C to 25°C (72°F to 77°F)
oof! I'm under at around 65F. Getting cold this time of year
I REALLY hope it isn't because I deleted Swarm Sync while it was pairing, because i kept getting the wifi password error
I re-checked the name and password of my wifi 5 times, and it kept happening
@arctic mica download Tuya smart life and connect the lamp to it
It should just appear here easy peasy right?
You might have soft locked yourself
Vedal will probably have to manually disconnect you
Holy
@arctic mica have you tried Then go to settings, troubleshooting mode, reset device list
Oh yeah, the screenshot of the error too
Ive tried that already, but I can just in case try one more time
Were you usingn 5 GHz to connect or 2.4 GHz
I checked my local ip, it should only be 2.4 GHZ
Just turn your lamp off, the dev will be online in 6-7 hours
Is it also unusual for the user id to not show up
You have unlocked new role
Finally got myself a 2.4GHz network and now it says this, the lamp will flash red a couple times then go green, and after a little bit will go back to red for a couple flashes
if you havent already, unplug the lamp for about 5 mins. then plug back in a try put it into pairing mode?
do I understand correctly that the app is paired to the lamp via bluetooth and the wifi is only for stream sync? if so, would it be theoretically possible for the app to allow pairing without wifi, and do the wifi configuration as a separate step in the lamp settings?
I ask because it took me many attempts until I finally managed to get it working, and it would have made it a lot easier if I didn't have to keep replugging it to repair bluetooth just because only wifi connection had issues
I keep getting this error 2.4ghz Bluetooth and gps on along permission ssid and password are correct, the lamp seems to connect and then disconnect during the paring process
I managed to connect to tuya but I still would like to get the stream sync thing
try pairing back again to swarm sync
then try: Start pairing mode (lamp blinking red), complete the process, and if it fails, go to Settings → Troubleshooting mode → "Resync Device List."
There is no troubleshooting mode or resync device list I tried again and I keep getting this error
settings>troubleshooting mode on>resync device list
Yes ok and then what nothing is happening the lamp flashes red and the comes back to green repairing it gives me the same error
might need to wait for the dev to return then to debug
Seems like the app is the problem
Great now I can't even connect it to tuya anymore amazing
Flashing red means lamp is in pairing, green means you have paired the lamp
Update the app
@topaz willow
The app doesn't have any pending update on the playstore
Go to setting in the swarm sync app, there you see troubleshooting mode, click on, and then repair device list
Already did that what do I have to do after that
Is your lamp green?
Yes
Try changing color to check if everything works
? The lamp it's not paired I can't change its color
Then redo the repair device list again
but it doesnt stay connected cause it'll go red after going green for a bit, it goes green twice then says it fails like the error there
Have you enabled all permissions, bluetooth, wifi location?
yea i have
Repeat the error and provide the logs
alright
The lamp goes back to red in the middle of the pairing process and then it gives me this error
Then it goes back to green when the error appears and it goes back to red after, also before I managed to connect it to tuya but after troubleshooting I can't even do that anynore
Are u using vpn, or have you disabled location services on your phone, or are you using a wifi extender? These might be causing connection issues
No vpn or location is on and no wifi extender 2.4ghz and Bluetooth is on I did manage to make the lamp change color using the tuya app earlier but last attempt it failed the connection
Location is on? Or disabled?
Ok now I finally managed to Connect tuya app again, location is on and I gave the app all the permission possible
Same goes for u repeat the error and provide logs
I think it's the Neuro app fault here's the logs that I collected earlier wait do I just paste them here?
I also sent them to support
Paste them here, the dev will review it

How do I paste my log it says I’m over the character limit
Past them in to a txt file and upload it here
@sour flicker could you download Tuya smart life app and connect your lava lamps with it? Error show something about tuya
new log after pairing with tuya app, i can use tuya to change the colour but it still won't connect on the swarm sync app
pretty sure i've checked everything is as it should be but keep getting this error message
[error] [tuya] ssid location was unsuccessful
Are u sing 5 ghz or 2.4 ghz?
I’ll notify the dev
@topaz willow
router says it automatically selects whichever works best so i assume it's using 2.4 for it
@topaz willow
It’s choosing 5ghz if your router supports it
You will have to split the two
To split a single SSID into 2.4GHz and 5GHz, log in to your router's settings page, find the wireless settings, and disable the "smart connect" or "band steering" feature
does my phone need to be connected to the same signal as the lamp?
ok got it connected, thanks.
The lamp works
Dunno if this is known, but there is a chance it pairs "null" lamps when trying to pair a real one. Top two does not exist, bottom one works as expected
Dunno if I can pull app logs at this stage for debugging purposes
Okay that’s a new one @topaz willow
Please do post logs
10-31 15:19:38.655 15969 16080 I ReactNativeJS: [tuya] Pushing color data to device: undefined with color: {"hex":"#ff8ab6","hsv":"hsv(337, 46%, 100%)"} and brightness: 100

Can you provide the full logs?
That is logcat so I cant, but here is the troubleshoot one

Logcat?
Yes the android built in logging
Oh there is nothing in the app logs?
Looking at the log, it does not contain anything useless imo
I cannot send it cause more than 4k :d
Also pairing is absent cause I enabled troubleshoot mode after it happened
Put it in txt file
I'll reset the app and the lamp. I'll try to repro
It would help alot
Ok, unpairing the working one remove the other two
so upairing did a cleanup
actually I'll continue on my rooted one

Oh great, The TuyaActivatorModule just prints the WIFI + Password into the log
that is
uhhh
oops
@topaz willow I
You can enable to hide sensitive info
Oh
Also, I wonder if you can apply for app Beta for early testing
Hello, I'm getting this. Do you need any other information from me?
Samsung Tab S8+ (SM-X806B), Android 15, Swarm Sync 0.3.0
Reinstall the app
Reading back the main error Failure starting android ble activator others encountered WIFI problems
hi my swarm app is unable to find my lamp and my connection is 2.4ghz
Appears to be working now 🙂 Changing the colour was really sluggish for a few minutes, but it seems to be fine now.
Bug sync
you generally shouldnt be putting logcat logs into public mediums, but also your app is terribly out of date
OH LMAO
i dont have much time today, mentioned it to vedal but im gone most of today and halloween weekend. first thing id say to the people having problems is to try and pair in the tuya official app and make sure they are able to connect with wifi, turn off bluetooth, and still be able to control the lamp from the tuya app
if you are, try again to repair in the swarmsync app and see if it succeeds then. if it doesn't copy logs and reping me after all those steps have been confirmed
oh yeah also make sure to be on the latest app especially android users
can you have the app running on two diff devices?
i dont believe so
tuya i think disconnects it from another home if you try to pair it to two places
if you're having issues, try these steps to help narrow down the issue first. also make sure the app is updated
last ios update: <t:1763146800:f>
last android update: <t:1762846200:f>
- make sure you're properly pairing the lamp to a 2.4GHz (2G) wifi, see the video walkthrough by Juniper in the pins. the pairing flow has changed slightly since it was created, but it should be mostly correct.
- when in doubt, try restarting your phone. some users report a simple restart fixes issues, especially if several of the below are not working
- to rule out wifi and hardware problems (not app issues), try the following:
- download the "Tuya Smart Life" app. this is the lamp manufacturer's official app. it will not let you enable stream sync.
- if you can pair successfully to the above app, turn off Bluetooth and try to control your device (this confirms the device is paired via wifi not Bluetooth)
- if you cannot pair to the tuya app, there is likely an issue or incompatibility with your wifi. note that the lamp (due to hardware restrictions) does not work with 5G networks, wifi extenders, VPNs, mesh networks, and EAP wifi networks (eduroam)
- next, try to create a wifi hotspot with your phone. use this login to try and pair your lamp
- include which of the above works and doesn't not work when you report an issue
- there appears to be a sort of intermittent issue with the device activation for vedal's access that is out of control of the app (the only thing that swarmsync should handle differently than the tuya app). try pairing your device several times over the course of 30-60 minutes, as the issue may resolve itself on its own.
if tuya app is failing to pair consider trying this approach as well, which has worked for a few users who were unable to connect via wifi initially: #1426970657631113376 message
other common issues
- make sure the app has permissions and location services are on (can be turned off after pairing). the app should detect this automatically, but in rare cases it appears to miss it
- trying to connect to a 5G network (as mentioned above, these very often do not work)
- trying to pair to several swarmsync apps, when you pair the lamp it will unpair from any previous apps for safety reasons. this is done automatically by tuya, not by the app, so it will still appear in old apps and be uncontrollable.
- mistaking the pairing mode timeout for a successful pairing. the red blinking times out after 20ish seconds automatically.
common error codes and what they mean to you
- 207009 / 207033 / 207019: see the main steps 1-3, usually something can be found there to help
- 4 (router connect error): make sure you're on a 2.4G network and that you typed in your wifi creds correctly, do not hit enter in either field, as that can mess up the values given to the lamp (this is a minor bug and I plan to address it, but it's still an issue for now)
- 207003 (missing parameter): the wifi ssid or password was missing
- 207006 (device is pairing): rare code that can happen if you are trying to pair too rapidly
- 207018 (wrong password): double check your wifi cred inputs and do not hit enter in either field, for same reason as in error code 4
@neat swallow pin this pretty please

Does Tuya allow you to send debug logs?
I have a weird issue with both Tuya and Swarm sync, both for some reason tell me my wifi password is wrong even though it isn't
so my lamp still isn't connecting but it IS giving an error code now (207019)
Im gonna try my second phone hold on
Tried to connect the lamp, it came up with error messages and after trying a bunch of times, unplugging and plugging the lamp back in, it still doesn't work and now says it can't find the lamp
Im getting "Error Code 207006: doing" here and Im not quite sure what that entails
Love tuyas very descriptive error codes
Finally got the lava lamp to connect!
I just kept trying over and over, eventually it just worked.
Android 15
Phone connected via dual-band (I heard this can cause issues, didn't find a way to turn off 5GHz in router settings either).
Something that had me a bit confused was when lamp was in pairing mode. I followed the instructions and plugged/unplugged it until it would start flash red, but it only flashed red like ~5 or 10 times, then it went green.
can you try the tuya smart life app step, when iOS gets stuck that seems to resolve it quite often
If it ended early it probably paired correctly, was your app up to date? There was an bug fixed for that in the latest version but might not be the same thing
i was able to connect and control it without bluetooth enabled
Heyho thx for the list, am at step 1, may I ask how I disable this "Unique SSID for 2.4 and 5 GHz" ?
207009: "unknown error"
classic that one
Can you let the pairing run its course, I’m not seeing you reach any of the timeouts in your logs so it’s hard to pinpoint stuff
Here is my debug logs that hopefully explain why i get error 207018: wifi password error
Yeah, just installed it prior to connecting
They can take up to 3mins if it fails several checks
or is my frequency set to 2,4GHz and it should be fine like that?

In the app it would time out, even when lamp stopped blinking red
I also keep getting password errors, on Tuya as well, despite 100% being sure the password is in fact correct
Hmm
Supposedly iOS build is in review finally too so for iOS issues might be worth waiting on the update to see if it fixes your issue
Also a weird bug, typing in wifi name / password it sometimes remembers one of them for next time i tried to connect. It would never remember both
Did you post logs somewhere I can check
Yeah that’s something not in latest android bht might be in the new iOS build
Not yet, been trying to see if the issue is on my router's side, and was trying the tuya workaround as well
Does updating the router's firmware potentially help?
If it works in tuya toss logs of you trying to pair
Btw nice to see a fellow priest main
Got the dump here, anything someone can gleam from it?
Also how do I get my logs in a text file to send here?
when i do the lamp stops blinking red and goes green but the app doesn’t recognize it
Probably copy and paste em into your notes app
And then share that note as a txt file
the starting steps looked good, rolling into a 60s timeout to be implied a wifi issue of some regard, have you tried the tuya app to sanity check your wifi is compatible yet?
One thing I may imagine could be an issue is the Wi-Fi wanting a unique, static MAC address to allow a connection, since that is something my brother set up and Im not at liberty to alter. so perhaps I need to get that mac
also, that first error you got at 207006 was an error regarding tryin to pair somethign that was in the process of pairing, not sure if you tried to pair a bunch of times in a row
check in the tuya app and see if you can pair and control it without bluetooth, and if you suspect the wifi may be variable try it a few times over a bit of time and see if it stays connected
giving it a shot
if the tuya app is also failing it's usually not a problem of swarmsync at least. is the network separated and you're trying the 5G one? I think it's technically possible for wifi password to error for a correct user/pass if you give it a 5G network, but hard to tell since nobody else AFAIK has reported that error code before
I will point out that i havent updated my router's firmware in years and am doing so atm
okie
if it still doesnt connect on either, you could try to connect to it on your phone too as a sanity check of your wifi credentials isolated from any 5g potential issues
or if you're already connected, disconnect + forget and try reconnecting with credentials
I did try reconnecting on my 2nd phone as if im a new user to make sure i hadnt forgotten my password, and nah, the password i remember is correct
With Tuya I can connect and control via Bluetooth, but Wi-Fi does appear to fail
I’m having the same issue as well
yeah ok that generally means it's probably unrelated to swarmsync, and something wifi issue related
sometimes that's wifi extenders, sometimes its using 5G
or mesh networks (honestly no clue what those are but klef said theyre also bad for tuya)
let me try hotspot it ig
yeah with hotspot i can get in even in the neuro-sama app lol
I updated my firmware and now its "error code 207019: connect router error instead"
Some progress i suippose
Tuya also isnt dying anymore when connecting
😶
Nevermind same issue "Failed to connect to the router"
Is my router just crappy
If im not mistaken its a TP-Link TL-MR6400
try what tftrigger did and hotspot your phone and use your phone hotspot to try and connect, that should work even if your router sucks. its just not an ideal solution because it wont be a constant connection for the lamp to use
The lamp not pairing is not an issue anymore fyi and i was probably just dumbõ
Yes, i just pinged you cause i thought you didn’t see his post

The lamp starts pairing atleast yeah, and i know for a fact now i was prolly just dumb back then
I can connect with bluetooth
So now its just figuring out if my router is a bottleneck
oh from the original post
im not really fantastic at networking stuff, but I also have a tp-link (not same model) which works
have you tried going into the config of the router and checking the split 2.4/5 band stuff?
Smth like this?
the robot says that that router only supports 2.4G? is that true is there no 5G option there
(not sure if thats a problem but just curious)
I have not seen 5G mentioned anywhere else on the local ip site
interesting, should be fine tho
oh yeah another good check I forgot, are you using a VPN on your phone by chance
I restarted the router just in case, if it STILL doesnt work, then the router is either just shitty for some insane reason or its a skill issue
Mmmmm I am fairly certain im not
try hotspotting your phone as a last ditch effort and see if you can connect via your phone's hotspot

Ik my router isn't the greatest but what on earth makes it impossible to work with the lamp?
That’s crazy, enjoy
Wait does this then mean i need to hotspot my phone for it to be active for stream syncs
yeah thats the problem with hotspot solutions, ideally you can get the router to work somehow
but theres only so much I cna personally help if the tuya official app is failing too, since then it becomes some sort of network issue
soo.. I did change my router setting to 2,4GHz and also tried connecting the lamp via the Tuya Smart App, that worked well, still connected to it with bluetooth turned off.
I tried to sync it up with the swarm app again but it still failed.. q.q
logs are here:
Well..... it isn't too hard to replace with a better router surely? Im garbo at networking too
so from those 2 pairs, and perhaps this is the fault of the app for even letting you input those keys but
your first pairing has a trailing space
the second one had a newline character
both of which you probably did not mean to put lol
it just means try again but be very careful to not put anything at the end of the password input field in the app
like dont click enter to try and submit it something
oh thx, will do!
I don’t think it’s worth updating the FAQ
Maybe ill come up with some way to put these solutions tomorrow
hmm still not working.. It´s now an even smaller debug log.. am gonna wait a bit tho and try again later/tomorrow, at least I fixed the 2,4/5GHz problem today, soo.. yay!
appreciating the help btw o/
nvm 3rd times the charm I guess, working now, thx again @topaz willow
Im so jealous your router doesn't hate you
@topaz willow what should i do when the lamp stops flashing red but the app is still looking for the lamp
Any errors?
no it just stops searching and says it couldn't find it
sometimes it shows error 148
the lamp stops flashing after ~20s regardless
but it stops way sooner
so you turn on pairing mode, submit wifi creds, and the blinking stops like 1-2s after submitting them?
or is it somewhat different than that
more like 4-5 seconds
After submitting creds, can you go to settings, trouble shooting mode, reset device pairing
@topaz willow sorry to bother you, do you have time to write about error what the numbers mean? I seem to not understand them
Or maybe there is documentation i could read?
just tried it and it's still the same
Read the pinned top message
the useful ones are probably 148 timeout, 207003 missing input (usually ssid missing from trying to pair several times on subsequent attempts), 207009 is generic error so not very helpful can come from many things, 4 is router connect fail
when in doubt gpt "what is error code (#) in tuya app sdk" xd
Vibe coder, smh
not sure thats the same thing that vedal linked me last night, but he suspected a hardware fault for another person who had that problem
except it was red LEDs for them that didnt work?
can double check with the tuya app, but it looks like a hardware problem
i've done everything on that list
Anything errors? Logs would be great

those dont appear to have any pairing in them, the logs reset when you restart the app to stop them from getting too large
oh ok one sec let me try to pair again

mmmm yeah assuming you've been able to pair with the tuya app correctly and control without bluetooth, and are using the same credentials here (make sure you dont tap enter or anything in the wifi input fields), I'd probably say wait for the ios update so we can figure out more of the granular details of why it's failing
it is also entirely possible that there is congestion from other lamps taking up activation traffic in the cloud, so feel free to try to pair every so often while you wait for the update, but really I just need apple to hurry up with their review process
the main difference between swarmsync and the tuya app in a happy path is that there's an activation in a pool of devices that vedal has that happens because the device was activated specificaly by swarmsync
hi, its not a sync issue, but there is no "stream sync mode" option
is it only avaiable when Vedal is live?
ah ok no worries then
what do you mean, like the toggle isnt there? or are you just saying the color isnt changing
if the latter, that's because there's no neuro stream right now yeah
the toggle isnt there
uh
can you screenshot it
Referred over here to share a log file
Redownload the app
ah thanks
This is the funniest by far
i mentioned it when that was forwarded earlier, by galaxy but if your LEDs are behaving strangely it's highly likely to be a hardware problem and you should try to get in contact with juniper or vedal via the emails on https://swarmsync.app/support
So quick question, I put SwarmSync onto an old phone and I set the lamp to sync mode and have now turned that phone off. Over the past half an hour or so after setting up the lamp it has been seemingly randomly turning on and off, right this second its off, and when on its mostly red. Is this normal behaviour or am I going to have to set it up on an activate switched on device?
i would have accidentally clicked the symbol instead of the toggle eventually
did you toggle stream sync on
it may be vedal doing things on his end
the app doesnt really do things on its own so it shouldnt be the app
Yes I turned that on
Thought it might have been that as I saw people in nn say Vedal was testing something
Going away for a few days but happy to unpaid and re check it with the update next week and let you know. Since I had that problem, may be useful to know
UI scaling on some phones appears to hide part of the color wheel and brightness slider (Didn't even know that slider existed until I saw other's screenshots here). This screenshot was taken on an iPhone 6s (iOS 15.8.5), iPhone 6, 7, 8 and SE(gen 2) use the same screen resolution, so they're probably affected as well. Scrolling doesn't work to reveal the hidden elements, it scrolls the entire view, including the top and bottom boxes no matter where I touch to scroll.
Config to get the lamp online in the first place, also allow manual control
yeah ui scaling is a bit wonky on ios for specific devices atm, something on the fix list
in some cases the new version which will be out whenever may fix it slightly, but still overall needs addressing
A setting to allow manual adjustments?
Ill wait for the new ver, hope it doest take longer than previously
I have a 5GHz Wi-Fi am i screwed or will the app be updated eventually to accommodate for that
Most 5ghz routers support 2.4ghz, go to your router setting and see if u can get 2.4ghz
2.4ghz*
Yeh eduroam needs special certificates or something AFAIK. Can feel some sorta proxy project coming on 😆
Find the setting that synchronizes the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and uncheck it. This is often called "Sync Settings," "Band Steering,"
Anyone using the stream sync function now? Currently have it turned on but my lava lamp just defaults to red color and doesn't follow the stream lava lamp color
Yeah I'm using it rn
Not through Home Assistant though, it doesn't work 💔
Only through Swarm Sync works
Vedal probably has turned off lava lamps for todsy
I have it on rn it's synced to stream
The stream sync works basically perfect for me
So yours is following stream colors right?
Mine isn't
Resync device list
It's just staying red and I know it isn't a physical defect cuz I can manually change to any color
Red seems to be her default off-stream colour
Been doing that but doesn't help

Lemme send the logs
Maybe your lamp is dying cause vedals internet is dying
Spoke too soon
All the lava lamps are online and connected
On that note, would I be right that only Neuro (rather than Evil) has "the power"? Since she's the only one with the lamp...
Sorry guys meds are kicking gonna have to sleep
Please do check out the pinned message
Gg and ty for helping me before today
And anyone who is here to help out, tell them about faq and the pinned message
The same ty goes for ennukee too
Would be interesting to be able to know how many are online and receiving orders
chat what that mean
after checking all over that's not an option for me I don't think
yeah got the same
Means u didint include your wifi name
Perhaps u wrote it incorrectly
Or vedal restarted the stream
i have a problem, my phone loves 5ghz wifi, i know my routers have both 2,4ghz and 5ghz band but i cant turn 5ghz off
Actually what does this mean
In the last version it would remove the WiFi name after each attempt. Almost caught me a couple of times
Vedal is doing something, he probably broke lamps, so just wait
Most 5ghz routers support 2.4ghz, go to your router setting and see if u can get 2.4ghz
Find the setting that synchronizes the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and uncheck it. This is often called "Sync Settings," "Band Steering,"
i have both but i cannot switch off 5ghz or other guys in house will end me
At a guess repair is a mis-spelling of re-pair for starters.
i cleaned the app data and resync again
You don’t need to switch 5ghz off
but my phone automatically goes into the 5ghz band
Can un-pair by long tapping the lamp icon IIRC
i tried with my sub-router, turned off 5ghz now i got 207019
Go to your wifi settings it should list both 5ghz and 2.4ghz and just use 2.4ghz, if there is no 2.ghz u will have to change routers settings
You can also try creating a hotspot and using that
i think there is a communication problem. i cannot choose in my phone between 2,4ghz and 5ghz its just one wifi signal and phone decided if it uses 2,4 or 5
Try creating a hotspot and using that
yea that worked
Gn all, behave yourselfs
why does that even create an issue if the lamp uses 2,4 and the phone 5ghz? the both communitace over the routher no?
Yeh it only uses the name of the network to decide what to connect to
ok so i fixed it but now its giving me unknown error
shit youre sleeping
goodnight
is it normal for the user id in the app to be unknown?
Hello, I'm having issues connecting as well. On android. When I try to connect it says this
well if the networks 2,4 and 5 have the same name, then it in theory shouldnt matter if they use diffrent bands since both the lavalamp and phone communication is over the router no? or is the lavalamp not actually using wifi?
Mine seems like not sync to stream. It’s still in red.
I already turned off-on “Sync to stream” and clicked “Resync Device List” and synced with another device
same man
idk whats the issue either
My lamp connected instantly after the new update, thank you swarm sync devs for the timely fix!
I unplugged and replugged it so many times I fear for the longevity of the connector - and it's been in my possession for less than an hour. The thing just won't connect. Yes it's 2.4GHz, I tried different devices on different android versions, I tried the resync thing, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app multiple times, clearing chache and data yadaya. I'm just....frustrated
Yeh if they have the same name I'd imagine the lamp connects to whichever one it can. It does use WiFi though. The Bluetooth is mainly for initial configuration I think...
Had this on Wednesday. I'll see if I can find and link my dummy of the solution that worked for me in the end. Note it sounds like there may have been an app update since then though
Summary
ok so i found out that the problem is my router
i tried connecting to my hotspot and now it works
but like
i feel like there fcould be a better solution
ok so now my hotspot ISNT working so idk what happened
the hotspot thing is very hit or miss but its consistently ot workig with my normal wifi
Thank you! This fixed my issue!
For Home Assistant users, I've updated my guide with a simpler method of adding the lamp to Home Assistant (it lets you use stream sync and you don't need a Tuya platform account anymore!) https://github.com/IceBotYT/ha-neuro-lamp
I accidentally unplugged my lava lamp during the stream, it wouldn’t resync, so I removed the pairing, have put it back into pairing mode multiple times and has failed to do anything
The one time it gave me something, it gave me this
(iOS)
Let me see if redoing my Bluetooth helps
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and restarted by device, that got it to work
Small thing you’re probably already working on, but the scaling on my iPhone SE 3 is a little wonky
Same for my Moto G5,
I think it may just be turning the lights off, not sure if it's a slider or not
Oh it is a slider I think
for clarification, when you mention wifi extenders does it mean routers WITH wifi extenders or connecting directly to the extenders that causes the problem
@lethal walrus@real elk can anyone experiencing sync to stream issues help debug real quick?
i think the issue is with singapore servers again
okay probably a bad time of day to be trying to test south east asia coverage
i think theyre eeping right now
yeaaa
ah shit found it
I fixed a bug preventing some users on one of the south east asia servers enabling stream sync mode
should work from now on! let me know if any more problems
do you know the answer to this problem vedal
or do you only know about the software
im not actually sure
im trying to connect it to my wifi but my router does have seperate wifi extenders in the hosue but i assume the wifi extender thing means actually trying to connect it to the extenders
i tried syncing on my old phone and it works so im not sure what's wrong with my main phone
the firmware inside the lamp will always try to connect to the wifi network it first paired with.
eg: if the lamp is first connected to the router, it will always try to find the router, even if signal is poor
also depending on the extender (meshes are a bit better), the lamp firmware might have trouble staying connected
something you can try when pairing is to pick the router (or extender) closest to where you want the lamp to be, place the lamp as close to that router/extender and pair. this should hopefully lock it to that network device
the latter
iirc there was a user who was able to walk up to their main router and pair but not on the extender
G'day, I'm having some issues tryna pair to my lava lamp.

is your wifi 2.4ghz?
could you try again? or try pairing with the tuya app on the play store?
Yep I'll try both now. although I did try tuya yesterday and neither wifi or Bluetooth worked.
Swarm sync retry didn't work so you want the new debug logs?
sure

its detecting your lamp okay
could be a wifi issue
you can't pair through the bluetooth pairing on tuya?
