the actual flow and stuff looks good IMO! but the main thing with hard is it's a lot of pressing the same buttons. i think simplifying it will be good

i also think you're going for some pretty difficult to read charts with a lot of diff. gimmicks. i think its fun but its also a LOT and i would say its probably not sightreadable. but i also have very little knowledge about charting other than my initial thought of a player being "WOW this is a LOT"

they used unused hardware in nvidias provided board and now allow you to hook up an extrnal gpu to a 4060 via said hardware, letting you combine their power. supports even a 4090. i wonder if you can chain 4060s that way...

it shares a similar form factor, but the insides (hard- and software) are completely different

the only reason it plays DS natively is because nintendo included DS hardware

which is seperate from the main hardware and requires a fast reboot to enter and exit

Yeah, I think it does run DS games in some kind of virtualized environment, so it kinda makes sense that it just has a DS in it

i think it actually could run DS in an emulator, but it already has issues with n64 which is almost on par with DS. though actually ported n64 games do run smoothly.

The Gamecube mode on the Wii uses at least some of the same components as Wii mode and it is actually possible to get access to leftover Wii RAM from Gamecube mode. The Wii CPU is also actually a more powerful version of the Gamecube CPU

that's true, the first homebrew on wii was done with tweezers and shifting over what parts of the chip were used (or something like that) if i remember correctly

but the 3ds architecture is different to the DS architecture

But I did not know about this. I just thought the 3DS CPU was similar to how they did it with the Wii, since having a lot of extra hardware in a handheld formfactor really doesn't make sense

DS mode on 3ds of course uses similar components, per example the screen driver is 3ds hard i think (it basically applies different screen effects like a blurry upscaler and/or a border)

tech like chips got much smaller and more powerful in the time between ds and 3ds. at the same time, the 3ds used an incredibly low resolution (240p). that meant they had to use comparably little processing power on screen output/rendering and therefore could use space more effectively. the 3ds performance is between gamecube and wii in terms of polygons, while needing much less hardware thanks to having a way smaller output resolution. the bottom screen often just displayed simple ui elements meaning it didn't add that much to the overall performance cost.

I guess they just turn off the DS components when running in 3DS mode to save power, since it would be quite bad for battery runtime otherwise

of course, and in ds mode the 3ds chipset is mostly disabled. that's why it takes a bit to switch between modes.

The swap between modes does indeed look like it takes a considerable amount of time. Too much to be directly backwards compatible, so the two CPUs thing is definitly how it's done

My current suspect is the middle-front fan

It's one of the fans that came with the case, the other two in the front are a different, better variety

The sound itself actually seems to be coming from somewhere in the back or top of the case, which contradicts it being the front fans or the GPU fans

But that leaves a dense cluster of fans at the back

I kinda suspect the CPU fans, since those are pretty close to the RAM. (the sound started after the RAM upgrade)

And if it's one of those, I think it would probably be the back one, since that one doesn't have something in between it and the heatsink

I guess when I make my fancurves again, the fanspeed should be lower so maybe it'll rattle less

i have very little expertise with pc building so yeah

It's quite fun actually, and simple if you just follow instructions and are careful enough to not damage the components. And the resulting PCs are way better than any prebuilt

PCs like that are also way easier to upgrade, since they use all standard components

(prebuilts are know for proprietary components that nobody can find in normal stores)
