I mainly use normal layers in photoshop with some of them as clipping masks... and also group them to separate characters, backgrounds and sometimes forefront layers

I mainly use normals, multiply, add and color burn layers with clipping for shading.
I try to keep everything major on separate layers especially if I want to export alts of the image.
But towards the end my discipline usualle vanes and stuff starts getting slapped onto whatever layer seems handiest.

I use layers generously too... liike I have so many of them just so that it's less pain to butt... I tend to have hair, skin and other stuff for characters as their own layers... so like three layers to flat color a characters... then clipping masks to make them look fancier

I became digital artist rather directly and I imagine it shows lol... people that bring their drawing experience to digital format later on tend to draw less clean and/or not really use that many layers to separate lineart stuff... not that I actually have proof... digital way of drawing just feels more compatible with me and is my personal preference and I'm just amazed people drawing without having an easy undo function

thats what happens when you dont fully render them, its kinda like a thing with rendering shading. you can actually see it on some shaders in minecraft as well where it takes time to fully render the image giving it that grainy look. im sure if they do a full render it will look clean

I think next time time I would buy XP-Pen or wacom

hmm... when it comes to hair it's just that I drew very basic hair first and have been just figuring out how I like to do hair more detailed way so I have been experimenting with drawings... I just focus currently to improve my lineart to make drawings look better ^^

i got a friend that did a tornado method to find the arm, have you heard that one?

i have a very cartoony line work so i been trying to find ways to draw hair without lining for a while

im trying to find a good pen that mimics hair strands, the stuff on procreate is not doing it for me

I draw thick lines and then take eraser on them... making impression of hair strands and stuff... it's like easy way to add detail digitally that seems like more work than it's XD

my erasers kinda work like pens so thats kinda off the table for me

but i did hear its a very common strategy

interesting... I self learned to realize it... but makes sense! XD I spent years being like how people do those details to only then realize that oh... it's that simple... lol XD

better or worse art has been something I just do from personal interest and as a hobby so it's like... I didn't constantly look up art videos as I jus had fun to figure stuff out... but lately I have been occassionally watching more art videos

not sure if I have ever heard of the tornado method... but it sounds kind of like blue twitter bird is just made out by cutting bunch of circles to make the shape

im an artist bc my family are all artist, i love my family so i push myself to go ahead
