one thing I have been working on while drawing is to try make clothing a bit loose on purpose... making them look like something more comfortable to wear instead skin tight... it's one of those things that I think my art practice has much improved on

Like many how to draw guide shows you that there's the point that wrinkle start or how the fold behave in gravity or wind.

It's about thinking shadows as another source of light, being reflected by other objects around your character.

Normal is a blending mode. Or rather lack thereof. Raster is the classic layer we all use. Draft is one used for sketches that have all funky properties like not being considered in selections and all other jazz.

Honestly its faster and more efficient to shade everything in a dark tone first and erase shadow where it looks like theres gonna be light

Since it makes it easier to keep track of the light source

Now if we want to make a larger area of light, we just chip away more shadow

the art channel here on discord, the reposting of art from twitter on nn, the art reviews (which are newish, i guess), the art competitions on discord, and idk much about reddit because im not there

i recieved more support here then i have anywhere else as of yet so i guess i am biased

but, the swarm is pretty chill

Though I guess that also comes to doing fanart in general.

I have had few drawings with just original characters to blast off too but it was after years of drawing what I want before I started to just do more fanart to help with it... also, bigger contribution is just sheer "skill" to draw something that people like... it has been like a big factor... as my art has improved, it got over a few hurdles and people just began to like my stuff more

it also helps to get involved with art related communities I guess

honestly part of the faster improvement is just that it's accumulating so I feel like it helps to learn faster and... just way more motivation

one artist on youtube pointed out something Im sure I have heard before... there is this "visual library" on mental side by just having seen tons of stuff and how it also helps... adults actually have easier time to get started supposedly... which was used to explain pewdiepie for example as one contributing factor why he just improves so damn fast early on
