#Artist General
1 messages · Page 25 of 1
I thought the same thing even though I do shit like this all the time
im going to go watch lookback
Give Fire Punch a read too :forsenOkay:
Bro its always that art with filian and vedal that people put in thumbnails
I should remake that one

You did that one?
hey did you manage to finish your outline?

I procrastinate so often too it’s worrying
lol
Ooh this one. I thought you meant Vedal holding Filian on front. Clippers love that one too.
Regardless you're famous, boo!

okay new atempt new t-shirt. i think i did better this time. folds are more correct creeses with tention and folds from overlapping clothes, moved the shoulders more inn so that it fits on the body etc.
does it look right, can i do anything to make it better etc
heheh thx
I saw one like.
HOLD UP, IS (some artist) DRAWINGS ARE THIS FIRE??
I like the rendering though.
I couldn't render like that even if it was for my life.
hu me
i guess. well thanks i apreciate it despite the sketch being rather rough
Overall it looks good though.
Mayhaps.
no totally you could
thats why i changed them from pink to purple

feeling rather hollow today are we

after this halloween event we need to make this Artist General a real channel and not just a forum page
✊
i kinda agree
i had to guide Terrento here, he didn't even know this forum existed
thats is deffenelty a rather large issue. that it is kinda hidden
I really need to get out of my own head. I'm literally stopping myself from drawing because I can't stop fucking with myself and making myself feel bad. Obsessing over whether what I'm doing will actually lead to improvement and shit. And yeah, I want to improve. but I feel like I'm just getting in my own way right now instead of having any legitimate concern.
its okay, improvement is nice but it isnt everything
I changed the shades on the T-shirt a little bit and the colors of the shadows
i realy like what you did here. will defenently take a look at this when shading and stuff
and added some highlights
this is pretty normal in my experience
but overall is it better than yesterdays atempt
it takes really long to improve at art and often it feels like youre making zero progress
whenever i have those bad days i personally just put down the pen and try again tomorrow
yeah, much more, good job
Has anyone here drawn first person?
I use those feelings of "I'm not improving" or "this isn't good enough" and use that to empower myself to draw more. I'm not gonna let me get myself down
I hate that guy
kinda? Just hands
well it kinda is. maybe I wouldn't care as much if I could at least make things that look like they look like something y'know.
anything I draw that looks remotely ok just feels like an accident that I can't replicate. It's all accidental. There's 0 consistency
mm.. do you use any references or are you just making things straight from scratch? I still can't make anything without having a reference of some sort
I use references
the irony is that the only semi-good things I've drawn recently were jsut accidents without any references
like the inconsistency is infuriating. hence why I don't feel like I'm improving or learning, I just feel like I'm accidentally getting something that looks good and then it makes me feel worse because I can't do it again
felt that.
i know the feeling, like a lot. i take a break for 3 days and i feel like i dont know how to draw again
I try to focus on small things recently. like only drawing eyes, only drawing hands etc. Just anything where its a small replicable task but still, doesn't feel like I'm internalizing anything.
I can't even draw the same fucking eye twice. Every time its different

here is a trick, ctrl+c for eyes and then use transform to swosh it about to make it fir the perspective or be visually different
I'm pen and paper
when I started, drawings looked like what a 5 year old would draw (not joking). Time and dedication, deducing what needs improvement and capitalizing on the good aspects. Those are things I feel help out. No one is ever as harsh on your art as yourself
I just almost wish the accidents wouldn't happen
I'd rather be consistently shit
the accidents give me a false impression that I'm getting better that then deflates into a huge feeling of "why can't I do it again"
take a photo import into photoshop do what i just said. print it out again and glue it onto the paper. jk
traditional art is hard, there is a reason i do digital. you have my utmost respect and your probabbly better than i will ever be when drawing on paper
🗣️
The fact you have these frustrations just goes to show the passion you have for drawing. You'll get it
I guess
It takes time. Rome wasn't built in a day, gotta remind yourself that every once in a while.
this is just to real. in the begining i tried to get good at everything all at once and it killed all my joy. learning bits and bites has helped me a lot and keept it fun
Maybe I actually have education trauma or some shit idk
I'm thinking on it now and it's like, I'm getting in my head that I'll show my progress to someone in a year and they will tell me "You fucking idiot you've wasted a year of your life you've been learning wrong this entire time"
real. same here. You never really stop trying to get better either.
I can't also improve for some reason. Tried many times to improve but mostly nothing came of it.
I just said
Screw it. I'ma do my own thing.
Which is this.
I wouldn't go as far as to say that. There's no real wrong way to learn. Tutorials online are good for techniques but everyone finds what works for them eventually.
such a cute gremlin
the accidents you mentioned may not be as accidental as you think. I did that a few times early on, like "I didn't mean to do that" but it was different, new.
its you though, all you.
I'd be happy to help out anyone that wants pointers though. Learning with others makes it easier too
I would appreciate that.
Maybe I'm putting too much on myself as well idk. I only have myself to blame for that though. I procrastinated my life away like an idiot and I'm now trying to make amends in my late 20s
im rooting for you!
this is what you get when you tell yourself "nah bro, I'll start writing that book next year" and then it's 10 years later
don't fucking do it
its not worth it

this is the same thing as saying "il start training and eating healthy, on monday" come moday and nothing happens
Yeah, I can see that you studied the folds and they turned out well, that's why I didn't change them at all
when you think you're done with the folds and shadows level, I'd recommend a little color theory (eww)
You're a real one ✊
this makes me so happy and exited, its like leveling up in a video game aquiering new skills
.
il defenently studdy colour theory when i feel like i have gotten good at folds and stuff
draw turtl more
Emi i regret to inform you that your new art has panties visable and I need ot ask you to delete them

will do
But I thought they were shorts!
theres a shorts version I think
Im gonna cook something dont worry
Heir why you have goo in your eyes

they were not shorts this time. because i wanted to do something different
yeah, it was really important for me to get out of the mindset of how good an artist I could’ve become if I had started earlier
I won’t ever find an answer to that question so it’s better to just start now
i believe the saying goes "the best time to start was 10 years ago, the second best time is now"
and i believe youve started, so youre on the right path
I mean I do subscribe to that. I guess it's just the anxiety that is getting to me. And I've lived with that all my life so idk
youve still got plenty of time left
I'm sure I'll have better days, but today hasn't been one of those better days

while youre here heir, i wanna ask if i can repost my contest art in #1095941852068331560 after ive made some improvements to it
i wanted to give her a proper throne but i ran out of time
youre free to crop it when showing here in this chat btw @elder trench
was thinking i could just add shorts, its not to much work
Fusion take
Heir.exe
I thought of the last one as evil being more dominant. I'm also thinkin of an opposite.
This one I'd like to think more into heavy attacks than fast harpoon ones.
Well good enough ww
What's the fusion?
I don't get it "dominant". Is it a DB reference I'm not getting?
Oh it's basically a db thing. Kinda
Despite being the same, the others personality is more showing than the other
In this case.
The first art I did is Evils side being more prominent.
The second one is Neuros side being more prominent.
I second this
I'm with it.
Thirding it.
Idk what y'all talking about but ig im fourthing it
maybe
I concur
I don't really have anywhere else to talk about art stuff and doing it on your own sucks, so having a consistent place to discuss stuff with loads of other people doing the same thing is nice
but I also don't feel comfortable joining a full on art server
this community is like the perfect compromise
as of why I'm not 100% sure if it's good idea is that currently this is kind of like on alley... it's there for people who seek it and don't get much spam
but hey, maybe it would be fine
So gatekeep it?
Jk. I can see your point. If it were to happen, maybe on off-topic alongside #gaming
it would be cool to see an artist gen chat!
hmm... thinking about it art channel is kind of niche so this is quite a concentration of people posting here in that sense... like people that consider themselves as artists like drawing art isn't most of the population
so I think it would still be fine to be more at the front
ugh kind of tired so not making my point most elegantly but... it's about keeping things moderated really end of the day
I think that art should get its own channel, there's Semi-frequent art contests here and it would draw more people to actually doing it i think if they actually had a proper channel
not to mention heir has been pushing for it for a long time
i mean, the only thing is that maybe the newbies will be dropping nsfw art
so it will take a little more than the solo Heir moderation to create a channel, but it still seems worth it to me
Indubitably 🧐
yeah i think having a separate channel would be nice. artist general is by far the largest forum post
though it might be a little confusing with both an art forum and an art discussion channel
i don't think we would need an art forum if we had an art channel
ohh why would that be confusing?
one for chatting, one for posting?
like this forum and that
yeah, I don't think it will be confusing either, if you go to the art forum it's clear that it's purely for posting art
oh i guess that makes sense
NN and genchat more confusing xd
for newcomers yes xD
Actually yeah is neurotic neurons purely vedal and company discussion?
yep! says it near the channel name
I see now. Didnt check since I'm on mobile
neurotic neurons is... discussion alright
it's more like a containment channel if anything
real
Doin something
Slenderman looking fine!
Ill be honest I would've never found this place if someone didn't link it here. I assumed this was in the art section and not the forum section lol
And I keep making that mistake when trying to search for stuff
wonky cat
That's the vibes I got from it lol
abstract cat ^^
meow!

meow meow
neurotic neurons is leaking here... on more serious note I sometimes chat there but I feel some people there are probably not adults... it's just a wild place
Adorable wonky cat, would make it a sticker to put on my pc
If I have the chance or if I'm not lazy enough
my bad 😔
its not your fault?
Misinformation is running rampant there if you joined there in a specific time
tis but a joke.
lol Red... you're welcome here ^^
thank you :) I feel welcome
yes, you are welcome here!
I like to make NN mad posting Vedal there. Lel
How did it go from drinking rain to orange rum? Lmao
because Vedal loves rum
Because vedal wouldn't go outside for any other reason
https://discord.com/channels/574720535888396288/1301384412621045843
hello artists, the sticker discussion forum just dropped
Baller
uh maybe be 15% less weird
I dont wanna give an infraction

I see
Cute
amazing
Alcohol colour looks like motor oil
God damnit
Purple eyes was my idea, i was just about to finish art, but irl shit happened
Now i wont be able draw for a while
rip
Fuck this shit
lol
This is amazing keep going
Forsen next :PauseMan:
and then turns out the rain is actually fillian with a hose
For the finale one, a full camera view of everyone
Oraboros of rum
Cute
Cutting to neuro just trying to pet a cat on the street, a short distance away from the whole thing.
neuro-sama is so excited of rain is a wholesome interpretation aside of is the rain clean enough to drink
but then again... if it's an android body then it's not an issue
CRAZY ROBOT BODY‼️
her body could run on hydrogen
gotta shade my "wild catgirl" art
Two additional parts added to the rum image while I slept.. you guys are fast
I'm certain that I'm not going to finish this Halloween painting in time (twice). So this what I have so far and I think I have to move on from this.
NIce
The perspective! That's amazing
Wow that's amazing.
Thanks y'all.
It just unfortunate that the event started at the same time I have to study tightly for the exam. And I overestimate myself for thinking that I'd make this big painting (A2 size) in such short constricted time.
My bad.
So now, I'm gonna draw something else not big.
gril w wonky cat
Yeah.
I mean a lot of cartoonish styles look childlike, part of the charm
We're all devoided of colour now.
i dont get it.
but its cool or not so cool, idc its the role color i chose anyway lol
✊ lets goooo
true british citizen innit?
yoooo
im ngl that doesn't feel like vedal anymore because that guy looks too cool
Anyone can look cool if they put on some makeup, cut their hair and put on some nice clothes
Look like Gojo :LULE:
can vouch
i look so mid literally everyday but that one dinner outfit makes me feel different

Sick
its so annoying that when i have all the time in the world and sit down open photoshop and is about to open my most recent file. the door rings with kids going trick or treat, i give them candy and sit back down about to open my project again and the door rings again. i love kids trick or treating but they sure find the most inconvinient time to come
no candies?
its the sacrifice you gotta make for the day. halloween is just a worldwide convention if you really think about it
i gave the candy damit, im not a monster
so true
Sugar :monkaOMEGA:
funny
got the initial line art done just in time for this redo. dont have everything i want for it yet though. stream time tho 🙂
cute
thanks emiko for the reference
Nice
it was so hard to find the angle
? im confusion. why is my name mentioned
i used one of your drawings as reference cause im bored
on pixiv
oh, thanks. im flattered
yey :3
yeah you can use anything i draw for refference
thankies
damn, i really like Evil hairstyle in new outfit
she is adorable in her costume
kurukuru
There's gonna be so much cute art after this stream
Already seeing a lot of it. Man I love this community
I want to draw one too
What are you guys' processes for doing face and body guidelines or whatever it's called. I've been trying to adopt one for heads to make them more consistent but I'm really struggling. It was unironically easier for me to just wing them without guidelines and just try to get the shape to look right but the results are really 2 dimensional looking and I feel like I'm forming a bad habit by doing it.
For face I follow this. https://youtu.be/1EPNYWeEf1U?si=06juNTQJDAyggVIz
Premium Figure Drawing Videos - http://www.proko.com/figure
Portrait Fundamentals - http://www.proko.com/portrait
In this tutorial I'll attempt to summarize Andrew Loomis's approach to drawing the head. It's a great method for drawing the head from various angles. Get Loomis's book here - http://www.proko.com/books
Don't miss new tutorials, si...
I'm still learning body but you can grasp an initial idea from tracing real life models on Pinterest and dividing the body into subsections.
That's the one I've been trying to do and I've been struggling with
maybe I just don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing with it
This method revolves around making sure you're dividing the head into face and sides.
its not really the problem I have with it. it's more I don't feel like I have any control over it. I try to draw the guidelines and then when I actually fill it all in the face is not what I was trying to do at all
Though you can try this too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dzpNGdxIy0
This is a common perspective mistake I see a lot of artists make when they try to draw the face. Hopefully this explanation can help clear some things up.
Do you feel as if you're following a strict way of doing it and not being able to express your artstyle?
implying I have an art style
It's more I try to say, make a face that is facing up and left or something, and then I follow the guidelines I draw and it ends up just kinda facing a bit left at most
Hm. Do you often flip the canvas? Could also be a problem with perspective...
Do you often flip the paper?
Look at it though a mirror
Genius move lol
I don't do that no
The best way to flip it is to take a picture of it then flip the pic :forsenOkay:
For me, that is
Here was the last time I tried practicing some before I got really ill recently. They might look ok but none of them were like, what I was going for. I probably should've tried filling in the details just for practice but w/e.
Is your goal the 3/4 angle?
Kinda.
I've been stuck in the trap of just doing front facing/side facing characters because the shape is easy
Guidelines for
, the
ones draw by eye and then spend twice as much time correcting mistakes
Like completely looking by the side.
Or just slightly angled from the front.
If you're feeling saucy, do a from below angle
I guess I'll just try that and keep working at it when I feel better
Most important part of 3/4 angle is the placement of the nose
At the lower angle the nose will cover the eyes a bit
You can see this even more clearly in a 3d model
huh
I completely missed the target on that one huh
Yeah a lot of the times the nose bridge will cover part of the eyes
Since it sticks out furthest
Ganev has INCREDIBLE tutorials too if you wanna check him out, i reaaally recommend
of all the hundreds and hundreds of art tutorials, his are 10/10
watching him also made me realize that trying to learn art from 50 different people is a waste of time, is better for you to pick 1 person that could be your sensei and watch every video and tutorial that they have, try to learn as much as possible from just one person
a thing that novice artist do is that they see a bunch of tutorials from different people that say different things for you to do if you wanna learn how to draw, and them they end up more confused
But, you see, many tutorials on the internet are just explaining the same fundamentals in different ways. With that out of the day, I do agree that sticking to one voice is more helpful initially, since it's more consistent and prevents you from getting lost
I remember my first time really trying to learn how to draw, i remember searching how to do anime heads, and hundreds of tutorials later i felt like my brain was gonna explode
this first year of serious
trying to drawing was a rollercoaster
new outfit ref to be pinned!
what a fucking clown

jester coded
Pomni looking fine
I'm just going to focus on keeping drawing and increasing the amount I draw I think. Maybe there will come a point I hit a wall but maybe all I really need to be doing right now is just doing things and not thinking about doing things.
I think what I've been hitting the last week is just a mental wall
probably also fuelled by my declining health
but regardless
I need to just get over it
and draw more
because right now I'm probably averaging about an hour a day and that's just not good enough
im getting kind of tired when they enhance the effect of "good" by doing the proper lineweight
Oh mah guh.

my 3 attempts at drawing food's art
prob doesn't help that I did this so late at night
did you see my first attempt at it...
No :LULE:
who th went thru my pixiv and add "Evil-Neuro" to all of my art lmao
same, lmao
someone got sick of the fact that for a long time Evil didn't have her own tag and everyone added her under the Neuro tag
lol
I think they did that to all of the work that has Evil in them, except for Brozoi's works.
thats crazy
wonky cat today
car just car today
hmm it looks like an interesting idea, idk what it would be used for
maybe just a meme sticker
the scarf bottom right is not only slightly overflapping, her face got remodeled XD
hehe mega sized scarf can look funny like that one
Someone did this to the one I made too
Cute
I supposed horror art can be cute
You don't know how artists can turn eldritch horror creatures into cute anime girls
everything has potential to be cute
I know people make cute versions of various horror monsters etc but it's not what I mean... that point it's fan depiction as non-horror looking version
Future thumbnail
no background
u still struggling with it?
Oh i just prefer the simple one
Ooohhh
Nice
I have pretty much decided what I will try to draw next... it's funny how I'm already mentally drawing/conceptualizing the art piece
thats good! i think. i do that all the time whenever i dont have a pen in hand or am too busy to actually draw. but the real thing is always better

CUTE
Trying something different.
@elder trench thats a lot of layers are you ok
95...
HOLY
yeah, it’s a bunch of layers and a lot of scrapes layers that I haven’t deleted. But this is nothing for some reason I think the Halloween contest image is like 150 or something
218 layers

Gosh, I can hear the sound of mental anguish by just that..

i need to get better at deleting layers, half of them are turned off as well. i even have the rough sketch under it all
i can't imagine how it must be like to organise all those layers
crazy dedication
I get lost after like 20, I can’t imagine that many
no its just me not having a good way of oranizing or planning anything
I can understand you don't wanna delete them might be because you think that they'd coming handy later, but you really need to get rid off some unnecessary stuffs too.
its pain, because i think "hmm maybe il need this later, maybe this idea could be cool" but it end up a mess in the end
too real
me putting a color on the wrong layer and only noticing it 3 hours later
and its also like that on my harddrives, i used to have like 5gb of free space on my c drive and my d drive was full and my e drive was almost full both of them are 1 tb each
i struggle with that too, so i just force myself to make a decision instead of leaving the layers as is, like imagining it as if i drew it traditionally
I don't have to imagine it. That is my reality.

oh i just remebered that clipping layers also take up a huge amount of layers. i need to get better in general and be more efficient
well it is 90 layers and its quite tiersome to look for the one contraining the eyes when im doing shading
this i can relate to

but honestly my drawings average around that range nowadays
i have shed layers now, now i only have 43
at the end of the day, if it works for you, go for it. but it can be time consuming id assume
my contest entry has 125 it seems
Me not naming my layers because im lazy
then it isnt a lot
TIL the layer limit on CSP is 10000
Wait, what is your average amount of layer you use per one single drawing?
i couldnt really give you an average but my last two drawings have 125 and 137
mind you i dont delete any of them
That sounds like a lot to me
yeah these 3 are around that 120 range
your art is so good

I guess I can see that they would need many layer to accomplish that kind of rendering, but I have little to zero knowledge on digital art program
With that said, they look impressive.
like i said i just make one whenever i feel like i need another one
zero regard for how many i end up having
Looks more complex, 100 layers makes more sense
it actually kinda bit me back on the tenma one
cuz i wanted to animate that in live2d
so i had to spend a TON of time organizing everything
that would make sense
do you know the guy who drew a finished piece every day for 100 days? (mb it wasnt 365)
i dont think i do
he organised layers in a very effective way and i kind of follow it
give me a minute ill need to find him lmaooo
I kinda know one, but they are traditional artist who paint photorealistic picture, one piece takes one year to make.
thats insane man. Did a drawing each day for a week and they got progressively worse idk how someone could do a whole year
this guy crazy af, their raiden shogun piece might be the most recongisable? they found a very good way of organising layers by parts
holy cow thats impressive
I think I found it.... also, Anny???
???
tppo on yt breaks down their process so well
silly, i like it
One of my favorite artists is niwamaru. Very little color in most pieces but each one just pops. They are fantastic at more extreme poses too
on twitter?
yeah lemme find them rq
no lmao
too risqué
just their profile. i dont believe they have nsfw on their profile
just in case though
ohh they draw the cultured stuff
and they only recently went down that path this year. hate to see it
maybe searching them on safebooru would be a better bet
finished
kurukuru
Why is Vedal look like a hobo?
spent all of his money on rum
Man, Neuro stream nowadays doesn't go so well for him...
I'm just joking, Bread. dun worri aboot it.
vedal kuru cute cute cute
nah ur fine, i was just testing it in emote form :)
i made him look like that
bro hqavent gotten that much sleep
Ah, I misunderstood. Also, the result looks adorable. I like it.
It's time for me to go to bed, nighty night y'all
i had 200 its nothing
95 layers
yup, forgot where I left my friction glove 😐
nvm I was sitting on it. The spare glove remains unused
for me it's... if there was a system to draw based to my imagination it would be so convenient... I have a very strong and good one
i like to think that is a sign of a good artist.
but i wasnt talking ab imagination, i was talking about actually drawing the things, layers, and all that in your head
Cuteee
yeah... thus such system that could just use imagination as tempalte for an drawing would be way more convenient lol... I took it as you meaning your drawing is better than what you see in your head... but since you mean imagining actual drawing process in head exactly... yeah that's something much harder to sustain... it takes focus to have imagined scene not break up
i also used to forget eyebrows a lot for some reason

theres a drawing on my pixivi still missing them

damn this is ancient
i dont know why, withouht question nearly every time i forget them
i think its because the hair hides a lot
i think i stopped forgetting them after i realized how much power over the expression they hold
Main colors
cute!
thanks, im really liking how its turning out
fynny thing is this started by me just wanting to get better at hair
so dapper and moustache

god damit i deleted the wrong layer earlier today

been there lmao
what a cruel world i live in
il say myself done now i think
i could doa lot more with the shading on the tee tho, but it works for what it is i guess
🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
just draw
procrastination is a full time job
iv done it since i got home from work and ended it about 2 hours ago. good luck on your procrastination tho, it aint much but its honest work
procastinate procastinating
Ive drawn a silly sketch and it took me the whole day, but in practicality i spend like half an hour on it
Its ez to get distracted for me
Funny
So true my dude.
- start drawing
- 3 hour side quest
- wonder why no progress has been made
i did that yesterday, got home opened photoshop closed it sat there doomscrolling wasted time and got like 20 min of work done
Im just drinking tea nonstop
The best way to get more following in social media, if that's what you seek, is to make fanart or follow hashtags.
And while I do like the sound of that, I'm going to do the exact opposite: make OCs. Lel
And draw some Neuros on the side
oc art is so difficult to get there ngl
i feel like it usually helps a lot if there is a story, unless you are that goated of an artist
i have thought about it too... props to people who can pull it off
I'm in this photo and I don't like it
why it has to be so accurate?
we've been caught
Aha there's the catch! I'm going to be like 90% of the other artists with OCs: no story, only art!
But who knows? Maybe in three years I'll post a manga. Then in seven years I'll have my own anime.
lets just draw a shit ton together and see where it leads us
fill a hundred of sketchbooks, 10000 hrs, smth has to work
but ik fs that just hoping and idling and just thinking wont
wish it did
too real
does anyone else go through a phase where they actually struggle more when drawing from references?
I tried doing a pose drawing today and it looked awful and just, super stiff and not accurate. meanwhile my no reference sketches end up looking better
so i heard vedal does indeed wear glasses
you played the long game and won in the end

You won
Step 1 add circles
Step 2 lineart
Step 3 add details 💀
This is a comm for a roblox character ye
NIce
These roblox ocs are gettign out of hand
Don't those costume cost actual money?
Maybe I should draw one based on my Terraria char one day
Then you bought the Gura costume? :LULE:
Ah I see
And then you can sell those robux for irl money by doing black market
Real
Some clients just pay like 50k robux which is like
Almost a half a thousand dollars worth
Robux is pretty expensive yeah but developers and like outfit creators get like millions of it
Since tons of people purchase robux to buy outfits and gamepasses that makes a game easier
True
iirc the main dev is only 17 or something
Ye true lots of them
There was a dev that paid me like 40k and
I sold it all on black market
me next
Honestly there are more roblox comns than neuro comns for me
This is why i rarely get to make neuro anymore
Im neglecting my wife
Well, when you get enough money to retire. You can draw Neuro all you want :forsenOkay:

It's a black market after all :LULE:
I hired a friend to do it for me and we had 80 20 split
I started the day so miserable and maybe legitimately art blocked and ended the day drawing more than I have in a week. It's definitely been uh, one of those days
I think I have a bipolar relationship with art
I will go and sleep on it
It do be like that
Sometimes you fumble a drawing so hard that you have to stop for the day and do something else
Anyways I’ve been in love with the clown outfits
Clowned
Cute
just curious, does anyone here have either heard of or use dokiwear drawing gloves
I want to wear those drawing gloves to feel like a professional
Just buy a glove and cut out that part :LULE:
i bought one just because i hate the ones you get packaged with the tablet. also im left handed so they dont fit me properly and my hands are small
i love it tho, dont regrett the price at all
im left handed and my hand is a bit massive lol
i can see that if you use like a tablet to play
i do
and always since the start
been playing for 3 years and the glove is a must
damn, i know this one guy who used to download osu in computer class in highschool. he dominated with those mice with the ball inside of it
that is my only exposure to osu tho

gamer

also i play osu on the same tablet as my drawing tablet
you can imagine the scuff lol
yeah, you must eat throught pen nibs tho
damn, i feel like i have to replace mine after like a month or two. either that or i just need to clean it
okay that is scuffed
well if it works it works
and i prob gonna buy the same model next time
literally just because my pen grip for osu relies on the huion pen design
dont they use the same roughly the same pendesign for all their teblets
like this one
What's scuffed about it?
just scratchy and worn i think
I see
my tablet is a tiny bit scuffed as it has a non vissible but noticable scratch in the glass. dont know how that happened
I mean, it doesn't affect too much right?
not the slightest, ist just wears my nib a little bit faster and i kinda anoying once i nocitce it in a drawing
Didn't know pen nib can ran out
it most certanly can, ist just a piece of plastic. drag it across glass long enough and it will wear down eventually
Damn
Good to know :forsenOkay:
holy that is nice, also is it a harmonica in her mouth
Yea lolol

Shes also wearing a chicken suit for some reason on her head
But its a roblox character so all logic goes out the window
mgsV refference with the chicken hat
was upscrolled to earlier discussion about getting following on social media by drawing OC instead fanart and how it's much harder... that's true on twitter but once you get ball rolling then you can pretty much draw what you want mixed with some fanart...
personally I have noticed that as I draw better it's force multiplier or whatever you could call it... people notice I have been improving
Funny how details are basically just adding more shades of gray
heh nice
is it just gray colouring you use
Yeah

Aleight lemme try adding one red layer
ohhh
greyscale makes such a good foundation before color even digitally... you can then just color it later on and shading is already done... so you have quite quick color version too XD I have tried it a few times as approach
Now this is the armor color
Oh its just me being lazy as usual i have a bad color theory so my color picking is not as good
i have never tried it, i usually just check with gray filter in photoshop
NIce
I ended up finding with my attempts they looked so cool in greyscale but quick coloring of course had that shading make it look very dull colored... but that can be fixed with more editing... still, yeah... I prefer to just color and shade it instead... and indeed then you can just turn it quick greyscale afterwards too if you want to... true
i want to learn gray colouring first because it should help with values or whatever, like keeping it consistent with not to much high contrast
greyscaling is good if you don't wanna manage colour

very conveinent for complex pieces, also lets you define areas of high contrast and where you want the focus of the piece to go
isee
well it's kind of like greyscale height map or something but for light... so I kind of get why it's advice people would give
mentally figuring out where lightsources are and make areas darker that would be hit by less light... and some artistic meddling
yep! normally you either work from light to dark or dark to light, but... i haven't figured out how to combine certain saturations of colours as certain values while greyscaling so i just directly colour
havent experimented to much with how i colour my doodles, so its kinda been just whatever first commes to mind which is slapping on base colour and taking it from there. but i feel like method at my cutent skillevel leaves a lot to be desired
if you do experiment, knowing what you want would be very handy. like, looking at artists you life and studying and learning from them, tends to save a lot of time and doesn't leave you on the trial/ error stage too much
not that i would know too much lmaoo, i just do what i can w the time i have
so i am no pro by any means, tldr
Hmm this is interesting can you clarirfy more about it
what part?
Combining the umm saturations of colors while greysvaling
i like using slightly contrasting colours/ warm colours for shading. if i did my piece greyscale first, then coloured it, the darkened parts wouldn't be as warm as i would like them to be. also, contrasting colours sometimes have very similar values. at the end my pieces when working normally may work properly if shown on a greyscale, ie dark and light, buuut i wouldn't know how to get there if i did a grey scale at the start
idk if that makes sense
Ohh i see
you understand
you just put the color you want on top of the layer with the color you added
I see
yep, that is what i do
Honestly
multiply, overlay, etc etc

because it is impossible to fully make normal colors after grayscale, only the basic ton
i don't think that is true, i know there is a way, pro artists do it
and then you either choose the colors you want on top with the normal layer or experiment with other layer modes
it is, they gonna be 100% muddy
honestly you can just burn the hell out of all the colors
i have tried, but nothing is satisfactory. like i worked on a piece with grey scale with all the experimenting for days and i still can't figure it out
You can use a gradient map, but it's likely to violate your values
i have
it sucks
it doesn't look like how i want it to look, i legit gave up
i did another piece w/o greyscaling and that worked, and im still working on it but it worked. i reallly have to study more
I honestly dont know how to call the techniques i know so its very hard to explain it
my intuition with lighting is "it looks good" or something... like I don't aim to realistic lighting but somewhere in-between ^^ one big thing was to stop using white to light things so much and start using different colors like yellow especially for it... I have found yellow has worked well
my art it is literally all yellow
i have begun to lean towards just lighter colours in general that goes towards white
I'll give you an example from my past art for the contest grayscale/gradient map/colors adjustments
nice! experimenting is ocol... I have been in love with contrast especially lately... using pure black to leave details to imagination and it just looks cool in moderation
Aaa
I usualy adjust my color burn and highlighta after the grayscale
But honestly u can do without it
Its always the lighter areas that produce more satuaration
thank you, i know that... it is just hard to find a satisfactory level for me, im too picky
I'm very much learn by doing type so yeah... just gotta cook art and have eureka moments ^^
i generally dont like to much contrast, since it tends to mess with the overall vallues of the rest. im not master of colour theroty but i know that you generally want to stay on one area of values, its like dark red clashes to much with a pastell green or blue
Grayscale is like mapping where you would put stuffs
For example you can figure out what areas are gonna be dark, the ambients, highlights, midtones and stuff
And then after you color it
You just polish the colors
Currently im puttingbthe gold
But i already did the grayscale so i dont need to manually do the highlights and darker gold
it looks so pretty
plenty of artists tend to get color theory without really much reading about it... like a lot of it's just observation depending of how one's mind works to get it... you just get sense what looks good and practice top of it helps too... I just figured out high contrast and certain colors just tend to look nice which what it essentially is about
that makes sense, i understand like the greyscale and stuff, i just... haven't found a way to polish my colours the way i want?
I just wanted to clarify how most people do it and that you are going in the right direction, study more color theory and you will get what you want
thank you
Ok then find a way
o-or do you wanna find it together
because I love contrast too, and it's a very subtle theme
sure
can i send some examples to clarify my point lmao??
give me a sec
For sure
they are very different from my neuro pieces because they are finished ones... i used a grey scale for the first one and gave up because i couldn't find a right balance but for the second one i just did whatever and i literally love the rough work sm, i am fixing/ altering the position of hands or whatever so they are both wips lmaooo
yeah
omg they are so pretty
Oh that looks amazing
Damn
left one reminds me of final fantasy tactics XD heads
arknights surtr! so kind of close
Oh yeah gray scale would not work on that honestly
You have a very paintlike artstyle
i feel seen
You like to play around with the color value right?
yepp
You have a very good knowledge of color values
very stylized color choices... it works
maybe for doodles for now, not finished pieces yet
They look really nice :forsenOkay:
My artstyle is usually how chenbo paints
i can see it
Oh hey. Looks familiar with mine.
it helped a lot to find an artist with a style I really ended up liking so it became kind of foundation to give some direction
yeah!! i really like greypidjun, kimemile, sheya and emily amiao
genshin and arknights artists are always goated to be fair
very tough market
very similar, but so are most styluses. i think some are even compattible cross brand
I've really only gotten one brand. Which is Veikk
And it'll be probably the only brand I use.
Artist called "Plasma-dragon" was that to me early on with "I want to be able to draw something similar" and then it became mix of inspiration from him and other anime art stuff
if it works and you got it then its the best brand for you. i have gaomon and a wacom screenless tablet (altho i never use them anymore) and huion which is the brand i think il stick with for future tablets
Huion kamvas pro 13?
Ah. It looks almost exactly like the 13
bro thats a display tablet

wdym almost exactly
that is cheap... I bought cheap "wacom" one as my first drawing tablet back in the day... aka more expensive lol
screenless thing
The size and button layout and such
I was hesitant on buying wacoms because they looked very small
my first experience with digital drawing is from my brother's wacom tablet
And expensive
get huion or gaomon
medium sized wacom one I got is nice size
much cheaper and practically the same
Display tablet is so nice though. I wouldn't be able to get anything done without seeing what I'm drawing on the tablet im drawing on
im going to buy the huion 16 2.5k next month and im so excited
That is a big true
for me it was rather intuitive just to look at screen without tablet having one
also skill issue if you cant transfer hand movements to the screen
i play osu and its makes so much sense
2.5k?
resolution
also my 2nd monitor rn is a display tablet
O I see. Haven't really gotten a display tablet ever.
I could try. But I'd rather not
https://www.huion.com/products/pen_display/KamvasPro/kamvas-pro-16-2k.html
its 16 inches pro version with better resolution
Kamvas Pro 16(2.5K) is slim and easy to carry. Users can enjoy clear and crystal images with 2.5K resolution on this 15.8inch IPS screen. Connect the pen display to an Android phone or tablet via a USB-C to USB-C cable to enjoy a professional drawing expe
Damn
I have a big 4K monitor with 144 refresh rate and some other professional crap... so it suits well to my hobby
my brother gave it to me
artisul d10 or smth i cant remember
yooo that is sick
literally just as a 2nd monitor
no joke I think 144 refresh rate has actually helped too... it's just so smooth to draw
its not worth it
is a screen tablet actually that efficient?

.
yes and no. if you can use screenless one then no if you cant then yes
I think it depends from person to person
i stil draw better on paper than digital despite having been drawing digitally for 4 years
i feel that lmaooo
so i still think being able to see where ur pen point to helps
I'm so used to having mouse cursor that it just felt like different method to do the same... it's like mouse but finer control and stuff
It's a comfort thing. At least for me
once you get a 2nd monitor its life changing
get 2nd phone
there are benefits having reference on the same monitor I feel like as it's more on view even while not focusing to it... but yeah it's up to your setup etc of course ^^
my 2 monitors shows different color and idk which one is the right one
kinda pissed me off
yeah... I would pretty much want to have two monitors with exact same calibration and colors
Having 2 screen is still pretty convenient
it dont matter that much tbh, colourmatching is nice to hav and thats it. if you were doing large comercial work like printing and or making work for game art then colour corect monitor matters a lot
its colour not color
colour
Cooler
sounds wrong
Caller
let's compromise and call it "cour"
i was thought briish english as a kid so color for me is wrong. its colour or nothing
i pronounce it as colule
lule
co
Is flavour something you go by as well?
flavor
I usually say it as caller
not flavule
tomato or tomato
to mei to
to ma to
to mah to
mei
2 mei 2
potato or spud
wtf is spud
potato
ik what potato is, wtf is spud
its potato
Ishowspud
L
but thats not weird in denmark i think their direct translation of potato is earth apple
they are danes they are not normal in the slightest
because in various languages things were named before science got around what they're technically
did u know that banana is a kinda berry?
I see
no its not really that. its just their language, even here in norway some people call potaot apple and apple sweet apple

Cuz in the old time, They name thing what they vaguely see, not what they technically are
It's universal
Like my one: the butterfly in Thai literally called clothe ghost
i know, its just fun shitting on danes as a norwegian (no hard feelings towards danes, love them and their food is better than ours)
Danes? :DansGame:
speaking of food... various pizzas... yum
denmarkians
Pineapple on pizza, yes or no?
no
You're so quick, lol.
i have strong feeling about it
