In terms of anatomy, remember that the spine only bends in two locations, one near the top, and the one near the bottom

What’s happening in the original picture is that the thighs themselves are jutted forwards while the body seems to imply that there is no bend to them.

So in practice, it looks like the hips themselves do not exist, or at the very least, the thighs and pelvis themselves are entirely removed from the body and placed a bit in front

Or at least, that is how my brain sees it
