yeah it's two things really... mouth could have its lines closer from each-other and have nose lower as typically small line indicating nose etc is the tip of the nose... assuming I use the right word XD

now it feels like nose's lower part is almostat height of her eyes

it is like that sometimes. i have been into reading books about drawing and shading (anime and manga spesific), but a lot is done on the fly trying out new things

it's a cool drawing but I felt something what I noticed with lucy pyre's vtuber 3D model too at onepoint... it looks a bit squished in depth

maybe best way to explain it's like looking at carboard cutout of some art piece and then moving bit to the side to look it at different angle and suddenly there is less feel of depth somehow... but yeah it might sound incredibly nitpicky to people

Bro, I'm a programmer too and I started the same way - I borrowed an ancient drawing table from a friend and tried drawing, I liked it and bought my own. Now it's my hobby that allows me to relax after work. So I highly recommend you to try it too!

yeah I can relate to this from my personal experience... like I mentioned about just needing time to process what I practiced mentally, I took breaks due burnout... now as it's less mentally taxing to learn more (less overwhelming) I find it more enjoyable too to just draw while learning

once you borrow the tablet and have thickness of brush adjusted by pen pressure you should notice rather quickly how much better it will make your lineart... subtle changes in thickness, etc just make it look visually better... it makes endpoints of strokes thinner once you get used to it

I have the opposite problem. I'm more used to drawing male characters that when I decide to the other gender, proportions look off.

I go through many corrections before finishing. Still can't draw a female/softer face from the first sketch. Lol

It's true that shadows don't have to be absolutely correct, often you add more light somewhere, more shadows somewhere, to make it more dramatic or other purposes. The main thing is that the shadows should look believable

3d models are very useful for learning when used right... like those that are just mannequins... you can do this with various objects too... eventually you get better and better doing things without relying to them in terms of drawing

Look this might sound pretentious but I think a lot of professional anime-style artists don't bother with body variations and height proportions once they get good enough with the bases.

I've seen a lot of art of girls who are supposed to be tall but, once you put them in position and count their head-to body ratio, they look weird.

one nice thing of 3d models is also characters height... if you know how tall they're canonically for example then it's much easier to make it close enough

I recently started to draw hands smaller... I was kind of fond big hands but also it makes it less awkward when hands are more "regular sized" when they hold something XD

It says that pre-drawn art is not applicable, but is art that had only the sketch (wip) posted on this server's art section also not count? And if that isn't okay, is it okay to draw something similar to that from scratch to make it work?
