well thats what it is, im not sure how vedal's app work but in vtube studio for example, when you recolor something you arent actually changing the color, you overlay a color using multiply/screen that essentially tints it
dark colors like the black from evil's outfit is a tricky one, because to be properly black the effect should be a lot stronger but if you do that you lose all the detail and texture from the original image

here an example with the v1 model, with a harsher black you essentially lose all the detail, the only way around that is for anny to repaint the clothes essentially making a new model
