Half-serious here, but I really wanna be taught on learning painting styles, proper color art and refining my lineart. In all honesty, having free tutorials just wouldn't cut it with my already dwindling attention span and personal commitments.

I have a budget, but I am not sure if my future teachers would accept ₱5,000 as my price. Hopefully someone would come around. Otherwise I'll continue saving up money for more serious commitments and getting a job.

you could try a coloso course if you have the budget for it and the rotating website coupons give u a decent deal. Might be worth it if you want an in depth process and tutorial from commercially successful artists. I would recommend the mogoon course to start. He goes over a lot of the basics and has a full rendering process with explanations.

There’s also just drawing with other artists and talking about art with them. You never know what kind of insight you could get. A lot of the things that helped me level up my art was purely through discussions in different art discords.

If you ever want to talk ideas I’m always happy to talk about art too. I obsess over art theorycrafting and application so maybe I might be able to provide insight to any particular art focus you have concerns about.

hmm... with things like coloring art there are so many ways to go with it... for example, I tend to make generous use of (overlapping) layers but then again my style is to have colors cleanly contained inside of somewhat thick lineart... one of my recent artworks has 60 layers but some artists are minimalist with it only having a few

if you work digitally then just doing bunch of layers and messing around with art is a good way to have ability to color, render, etc more intuitive

Very nice exaggeration in the poses, you conveyed the motion very nicely. Very confident lines as well. I think the main area you could work on is the feet, which are understandably hard to draw. Especially on the first figure, it looks a bit ungrounded. Nice study though, it's better than mine.

Yes I agree, but that kind of only adds to the etherealness of it in my opinion. The way her fingers bend like that and her lithe legs make her look ethereal. I might extend the index finger a bit, it looks a bit short.

Head/Neck/Shoulder area looks a bit stiff, and the foot wouldn’t fully disappear behind the leg like that. The ribcage is anatomically inaccurate, human ribcages don’t really work that way.

Otherwise, this looks really nice to me. I love the way you drew her legs, it gives her an almost Elven appearance.

Not too big, no. It’s really hard to explain but it’s more the shape of it. It looks flat near the breast part, where that would be more rounded and protrude outward a bit. The stomach looks like it’s jutting out more than the rib cage despite her being skinny, which doesn’t look right.

is it normal to see other people's art (in this case, music) and wonder how the hell they even come up with things like lyrics
cause its legit stressing me out whenever i am liking some music with good lyrics. How the hell do you even start? English sounds ridiculous to me in most cases. atp im gonna learn japanese just to write lyrics that ill probably never sing myself just because I think it sounds better.

I mean, kinda. That’s how you usually start to grow as much as a pain as that is. As with everything, the best you can do is to just trow yourself at it, and compare with anything that you like/wanna create.

This is mostly a constant balance between your understanding of art, and creation of it, as they are two different skills. It SUCKS ASS when one is above the other by a lot, and the only solution is to create more art or study more of it respectively.

Like, with something more simple; in cooking you can know that to make something sweeter, you have to add salt and not just more sugar. But how much? If you read a lot of recipes and such, you can gouge how much, but you will not know how to make ice cream that you like until you do it.

And also what do you like? Do you have an artist that you like and wanna be like. If so, study of them, try to recreate their tracks (don’t release them as your own lmao) and try to “get” what you like about them and “why”.

It will suck (by own experience) as you will be hyper aware of your flaws and dislikes, but doing the thing you wanna get good at is the only way to, actually, get good at the thing.

These are things that I have learned, but it is so utterly defeating when I don't even know how to start. I have autism, so I often struggle with words and writing lyrics that sound decent sounds like an impossible task. I know I can do a lot with determination, but I can't do anything if I don't know how to start doing it.

Working on getting started doing pixel art more seriously for a game I'm working on and I'm getting a lot more comfortable using aespeite. I have good idle and walking singular sprites now, but trying to add more animations for the character's overworld sprites is a pain and taking forever. Does anyone have advice on some ways to go about it differently?

Coding-wise most things are already in place well. I just saved a lot of the sprites work for last because I'm way better at coding than making sprite so this is one of the last things I need to do and I know it's gonna take forever so any and all advice would be welcome for it at all

Some more things that might help is that the movement is fluid in the overworld, so it's not grid-based, and the overworld sprites are within 72x96 each.

well, unless this project is somehow you gotta get it out soon or something then you should probably just keep practicing... the part about how fast and good you make your work should improve if you're serious about the project and might then turn to be fun with game full of your own work and make drawing more enjoyable

Not in a time crunch at all. It's just that I don't want to use place holder sprites forever for animations because with every new thing I code in 6 more things pop up that need sprite work for lol. So comparison-wise the gap between game and sprites is becoming apparent lol

I sidi just haven't done anything like this before so u have no idea how long it normally would take to do things like make a 7 frame waking animation for the frame size I'm using for these sprites which is also deterring me from starting a bit

yeah I have a quite good idea... since you make it sound like you have yet to learn required skills it's going to add a lot of time top of just doing those sprites as you learn... this is rather normal and something that deters especially new artists from continuing after honeymoon when they realize their almost stick figure drawing took them 12 hours because it's so exhausting initially (and that's just a single image)

also then once you start to handle it well it will take so much time to animate, especially depending of how fancy you want that stuff to be in your project... developer thinks it takes months and it ends up taking like years

The eyes are fine. If you're trying to match pokemons style, then you should be using you're 3rd color more for details and rarely as shading. The feet, for example, are perfect, but for the belly lines I would mostly use the 3rd pink and only use the 4th in the already shaded part

to start off, an easy way to convey rage or atmosphere in general is color., blue is rather calming being the color of the sky and the sea. that is not to say blue can't be used of course

On my break at work today, my supervisor had me try drawing on his iPad. I only had a few minutes of my break left and I'd never drawn on an iPad before so it's kinda sloppy, but I speed-drew this to test it out.

That being said, if someone came to me asking for a free comm, I'd most likely ignore it.
