If you want engagement tags are super important. heartheartart is kinda op, but tags for niche anime/jrpgs/VNs that don’t get a lot of fanart but have very passionate fanbases are insane. Vtuber tags used to be good, but they are hit or miss depending on the vtuber. I think Reddit/twitter are best for engagement, Reddit more so even for beginners since you are posting to a community and not entirely reliant on an algorithm. Animations and memes are op, bc you don’t need as much raw art skill compared to an illustration. Then it’s drawing the spicy stuff, but you have to be at a decent artistic level imo.

and when I decided to play Signalis on new year's eve, I was sent reeling by the intro.
Because guess what. Signalis, a game featuring eldritch and cryptic horror, themes which i had already associated Chopin's Raindrop prelude with due to the themes in the soundtrack and gameplay of Survivors of the Void,
played that exact piece during the title drop cutscene

I basically found out how nice feather tool is in photoshop, is one of those recent things... I drew this egg / circle shaped thing under character as ground under them with rest of darkness and it was so nice to select pixels and then invert selection and apply feather tool

hmm... I tend to use layers quite liberally like... I treat surfaces similar to something like how unreal engine 5 surfaces are just layers over top of each other until it looks like a rock texture, wall texture, etc... expect not going to that photorealistic detail

The brush won't make much of a difference, you should learn it with the hard round brush first

Shading with just the airbrush is probably not a great idea still

Most things have hard edges so only using the airbrush will have it looking kinda blurry

alot of them works, there are very specific brushes that do their job well and more if you're creative enough although the main ones are dip pen, felt tip, pencil(graphite is what I mainly use), watercolor and pen(fade)

my advice would still be to use the hard round brush, using exclusively the airbrush will likely have a similar effect that super messy sketching has where it looks good as a sketch but linear doesn't look right

airbrush is just not recommended at all

you can only use it past a certain point which is mastery of multiple fundamentals

or at least a good understanding of it
