depends on what software you use it can be called different

there is also puppet warp that can work for that

if its on one layer you can just press the transform tool and you can adjust and move it around. or if its in multiple layer you can make only the parts you want to move visible, select the specific area and make the target area "canvas" then you should be able to adjust and move it around

I'M SO SAD. I was drawing a little Evil animation in Flipnote Studio on my 3DS (the DSi version though, not FS 3D), and I had drawn 3 frames, one of Evil from straight behind, one of her turning her head slightly to look over her right shoulder (kinda like the end of Boom), and one of her looking straight forward.

And I didn't think to save immediately after drawing the latter two because I was too locked in (also I didn't expect anything weird would happen), and then suddenly, just as I was admiring what I drew and was gonna draw the fourth pose, randomly my 3DS booted out to a screen that forced me to either exit to the home menu or turn the system off. And so I lost the latter two frames which were my favorites.

That's two pieces of fairly cute Evil art I was actually happy with, now just lost to time forever and no one else will ever be able to see them.

Frick my life.

It's not even the loss of time and progress that bothers me, it's just the fact that those pieces of Evil art are lost forever that makes me sad. If I lost those on my 3DS but had taken photos of them with my phone beforehand, such that they're still functionally gone and useless as far as progress on the animation goes but there's still a viewable record of them in the photos, then I'd be fine, just "ah whatever, oh well." But the fact that they're gone without a trace never to be seen again in any form, that hurts.

I have two ideas that might work. You could try turning off all lights and shining a spot light of some kind at the picture from an angle so only the picture is lit. The other idea is to hold some kind of dark fabric up between you and the picture so that only it is reflected and then take the photo through a small gap or hole in the fabric

I don't usually use line art, this started as a 30 min sketch that I then decided to color. Upside is that with the sketch or line art on top the coloring can be really messy and imprecise and it'll look fine since all shapes are defined by the line art (which is pretty good for practising, it's easy to keep things simple and focus on colors and values)

I think the issue was the eyebrows and mouth, the drawing had scared eyebrows and a scared mouth whereas the reference has eyebrows of a guy trying to figure out what something is and the mouth of someone trying to be quiet. I changed those and it looks a lot better

Some are solid colors, some could be done with an airbrush, probably a noise texture could do things in some areas, there's things in the hair that could be drawn by masking an area and going over it with an airbrush to get an area with crisp edges and a gradient inside

i rarely used it at all in that time. only in the past couple months have i really started to use it lmao. it's never seen this much wear until now

good entry level tablet i think. good price because i wasn't sure whether or not i would pursue art at the time, so it wasn't really much of a loss if i didn't end up using it. now here i am 5 years later lol

I just figured out how to get rid of one of my issues with krita, I switched the transform tool setting to nearest neighbor instead of whatever algorithm it was using and now my lines no longer get blurry when I rotate or scale areas

I tend to draw quite clean lineart so way I achieve is it to use stabilizer or whatever it's called in your drawing program to make lines more stable looking so they don't zig zag so much... and I use eraser on some edges to make them less round and make them "lean" to some direction that looks good

I have the stabilizer on with smallest possible delay and a weight so that the faster I draw a line, the further behind my pen the line lags

I like having some texture in it, if it's perfectly smooth it somehow feels off to me

working with a resolution limit is kind of nice in that regard, some texture comes from the pixels even though I use a round brush

like what I'm doing with the hand here for example, I'll add more line weight variation once I have the full line art done and can see what areas feel good with thicker lines

maybe "clean line art" isn't exactly what I'm thinking about here, more like line art where every line is drawn with purpose and thought

I add some roughness to my art with noise filter so it gives nice texture for what would otherwise look way cleaner art... because I found it looks better by adding more detail and makes art feel less flat

if you want your lineart look clean but with different thickness then you probably should use a brush with more consistency so you have better control of it... anyway settings of course affect so much, your brush settings seems to make lines vary wildly... also it helps to get used to being able to draw long lines too with one stroke that has curves and stuff

the drawing is what's low resolution, it's a 4k canvas so the line art is mostly in the few pixel width range

yeah kind of why I suggest to draw without references at times so you intuitively start to get what looks good ^^ it's part of it... end of the day it's about doing to learn... but yeah I do believe you're better already than you give yourself credit for... it's quite common with artists

anyway... since people perceive things differently I'm not sure what makes your lines not intentional when they look so correct and it's quite normal lines to look like that depending of style... unless it's something that you don't feel like your hand doesn't do the line correctly as you see it in your mind or there is technical issue

It looks great! To nitpick a little, I think you could work on the perspective. Right now the head looks like it’s from a lower angle perspective while the body is at a straight on perspective. Also, this is subjective but a more natural arm pose would have the elbow pointed outwards instead of towards the body, especially for the way the hand is angled. You can try doing the pose irl and see what feels the best to you

I think the artist figured it was fine level of detail and left it at that... hard to figure out what layer of detail they could have added top of it all without changing the style of it

yeah, I'll probably try to keep it simple because a detailed rendering can easily be several times more work than a simple one but barely adds anything useful. I want to get faster anyways so learning not to draw too detailed would help

krita's edge detection filter is similar, I believe
