Making vocal synthesizers is actually really fun, if you have a spare couple weeks and a 3090 lying around you should totally try it
And then afterwards making songs and covers using your new vocal synthesizer is really fun too
Reducing verts~ I have a bit of experience to this, I used to port models to goldsrc(half-life 1), a 90's game engine, I like turn 50k vert models to 10k-15k
I'd say its not that complicated as long as that model have proper quads

2900 of them are extras added by rigify, the metarig only has 601 bones

they model the inner oral cavity to do that, with normal topology on mouth, since moving your mouth means pushing cheeks/jaw outward, there's no need to preserve space for lip movements

create a plane, subdivide it 5 times and shade smooth

go to material settings and switch bump only to displacement only.

I'm guessing the terrain and grass are all by geonodes instead of shader nodes
an actual grass in shader node would require some deep messing with ray marching

HWAT made their oc’s more interesting in design than mine? Surely mine can’t be that bland… and simplicity can be charming tin ain’t it?

Oh yeah!! That’s still popular. But my characters have aura already when they fight. And every rarely do spelled see the aura in my art. So at least that’s there. Would be tiring ti commit to a full scale detailed art piece currently though..

imo it might benefit from some value adjustments. For me, currently the red wall in the background provides the highest contrast and sorta functions as the focal point when you squint. Could solve that by lighting up the background on the left of her and/or adding some harsher lighting to the character. Just my opinion though 🙂

also yeah when lineart aligns that it looks like part of the same line... those are fun to fix XD

I recommend not drawing the teeth individually, it'll make it looks uncanny
it worked one time but there the teeth were larger and i was using a thinner liner

being overwhelmed is pretty normal. I think you just need to start from somewhere, everybody does. I think what would help is a proper goal and steps you can tackle one by one to get to that goal

a good goal for now I think would be to have a solid process when drawing
so you have a starting point when you want to draw and you can continue from there
having a fleshed out drawing process helps alot in starting drawings since you have a clear step by step of what to do, its not gonna solve everything but it should help.

art is pretty demanding in a way that if you want to draw like professional illustrators you have to practice fundamentals. drawing whatever comes to mind will be pretty taxing in terms of you have to learn alot of things every time if they are different enough from each other. having references will help in that regard since you don't necessarily need to imagine, for example how the anatomy looks in a specific pose
practice of fundamentals is needed if you're seeking art improvements. although if you're just drawing for fun, it'll be slow because there's too much to consider but I'm pretty sure you'll get there.

this is very abstract way to draw so you could try to make it work by just making even torso abstract

maybe very abstract art is just something you're well suited for... if you want to try draw something like stylized human for example then there is plenty of material online to look up as of how... and various methods to practice... artists self learn sometimes quite unusual ways like... there are people who just liked some manga so much they started to use them as references and kept drawing to learn how to do draw the same way

i thought i was supposed to but no with watercolors if you arent painting a large simple color or gradient like the sky, you should leave a bunch of gaps
instantly made me better at trees
then when i finished it up i just added some branches like in my reference and it turned out great
i did screw up the flowers though
added too many of each color, too spread out. i should try to make real flower shapes for each color like with the purple stalk thingys

it didn't fit the normals iirc (i just probably missed some settings i don't even know the existence

did you mark the normal map as "non-color"?
yes !
if you have multiple uvs, then you also need to select the right one while baking
last piece of advice I have is to make a blendshape for baking purposes that's just to fix any errors caused by clipping

Its great, the only inconvenent minus is the color conflict, bright colors doesnt go well with dark lineart and shading

@buoyant gorge sorry for the ping. I remember talking about perspective heavy poses and I don't feel like reading a book or watching videos so I'm just going for it, along with trying to come up with a simpler artsyle so it doesn't take too much time and drain me every time I render something
its fine. i like talking about art. I think it looks fine for intuitive perspective. Hmm, the legs might need a bit of adjustment. One thing about perspective is the angle you’re looking from. Since this is a worm’s eye view (aka below the horizon line), we should technically be seeing the edges of the bottom of the leg warmers of the closer leg.
The further leg is fine because its angled away from us although I would probably decrease the taper size of the further leg a bit more because the leg warmers are close to the same size here and in perspective further objects get smaller more quickly than you would expect when considering more distant objects not close to the camera.
how would the edges of a bottom of the leg warmers look like?
just imagine looking at a cylinder from below at an angle
you would be able to see the bottom circle (or oval in this case when its at an angle)
here the circle is not visible
so it looks like we’re looking at the bottom of the leg warmers from a birds eye view instead
I can draw the cylinder but I can't imagine the cloth itself
hmm drawing folds in perspective to put it shortly is mostly about smart use of overlapping linework
i can do a quick sketch to show
that’s something that doesn’t matter as much imo
but its easier to imagine the angle if you draw through the form
as if the shoe wasn’t there
using the cylinder as a base
you can see the shaded portion
an ellipse viewed from beneath
as for the folds i highlighted the lines which show that putting the line in front or behind an object depends on where you place your lines
its a simple principle to apply
but in perspective placement of lines will determine what’s in front or behind
hmmm, the leg warmers are very baggy so its folding in on itself, best I can think of is this
and for folds, that’s usually how you want to place your lines
you can see in the square image i took the same silhouette and just adjusted the lines
and the square which was in front reversed
to being in the back

folds are just cylinders and other primitive shapes wrapped around a bigger shape (usually cylinder)
and how you make them work in perspective usually is through either shading contrast or in the case of sketching, line placements

i can imagine seeing the hole on the bottom if the shoe wasn’t there
so it makes sense in perspective
although
on the very left
i might wrap it around a bit more

the blue is the additional section i added
its pretty jank but you can see if you imagine the leg warmers wrapping around the shoe
there would be a bit of thickness that goes a little further
than where your line ended on the top of the shoe
taking away the blue and red mostly would leave it like this
so in this case just that little bump implies a lot more envelopment of cloth around the shoe
because the shoe is technically in front of the blue area here (AKA the back portion of the ellipse)
ahh I see what you mean
and as i mentioned earlier, overlapping lines is how you depict it being in front
the version you had made it look somewhat like the entire leg warmer was in front of the shoe.
and that there was no part behind it
I don't think it'll reach that far to envelop it really since its still being held by its straps
