for desktop I use medibang (free version), if you want to webtoon/comic art then clip studio is probably what youre looking for as they offer a lot of in-house utility including 3d models that you can pose and reference within the program. Only downside is thats its a paid software 😢

The theme is mostly anything goes… so yeah

Big eyes. You don't have to draw them big but having a dilated puppil or detailed eyes help you associate with young, innocent and fragile.

Go for pastel color, something soft but pops. The color themetic that can share a sense of mellow and calmness helps ease away negative affiliation.

Exaggerated expression, poses, and actions help the character more "alive" which could resonate with the viewer that this character is real and for some. You could draw connection to them.

Finally, add items that associate with normality. Something that people can draw reference on to immediately goes "Oh, I know someone like this"

Oh! good example of atmosphere. Beyond Journey's End has this sentimental, slice of life, growth type vibe to its episodes so people will notice Frieren's soft spoken manners as cute. Or Fern's contrast between expression and responsiveness as cute, or gap moe.

This also brought up the topic of "Subjectivity" which means that the definition of "Cute" would vary based on context, person, and etc. So, one of the best method I can think of is to study the type of "Cute" impression you want to give your audience to and then use it. I like to look up fan art of well known character (Neuro-sama for example) and check different art style before clicking on the one that gives off the cute vibe i want the audience to feel!

The psychology behinds bigger eyes is because of babies actually. Babies has bigger eyes to head ratio and we associate babies with "young. must be protected!" psychology behind them. So, big eyes that is proportional to their head can explicit "cuteness". I do want to clarify Bigger eyes =/= cuter. There needs a balance for it.

here is an unusual idea. What about drawing them in a scenario rather than a post?

We could draw something like a character doing a small activity that is usually likeable by many. Stuff like helping other, sharing delicious food, or even having fun hanging out. Add small text dialogue to give hints of what's happening and then voila - you create "atmosphere" that points to "Cute" "Innocent" "Wholesome"

You can't really compare an anime with sound, voice, visual cues and dialogue with a single page art. So, i find many artists make small little text of the character in an activity rather than a pose to mimic "atmosphere" of their wishes.

I was going if the designs are good enough I could keep making splash art or promo art online… but I might have to just stick to the comic where I can express them with said scenarios and actions

But hmm since I also write, that does make me familiarise myself with them. The main theme of the comic is heroism, so I expect to write all forms of that to catch some off guard sometimes too. There’s also actually a few plots with characters sharing food, and for different reasons. It’s kind of slice-of-life too, so there’s a few chapters dedicated to hanging out.~

Adding a bit of dialogue that has character's speech style can easily help audience guess said character's personality, mood, etc. which in terms set up an atmosphere around them that can suggest a type of cuteness to the audience!

Everyone on earth has their own unique speech pattern. It is one of the thing that helps other get a "social cue" on what kind of person you might be. So! using that as the base. You can set up an atmosphere for your character in an art without needing a whole comic, movie or explanation to figure who this character is.

I'd say it's more that Sukuna one looks like it's from a lower angle, he's looking down at someone literally and figuratively beneath him. In your version it looks more like she's tilting her head up slightly in order to look almost straight ahead at the 'camera'. Her gaze looks like it's looking down a little bit, but not nearly as much as the Sukuna one.

I mean like use a charcoal stick. They have different purify of charcoal you can use like a pencil and it smudges into paper very well. No water coloring involved. It also makes for very nice dark lines.

Yea I mean I might take a look at it at some point, but it's really more that sometimes I don't want to practice everything to do one thing. Sometimes all I do is sketch and then add lineart because I really like how the sketch looks. Example:

And it's not like I can't do shading without charcoal cause like just drawing a bunch of lines or whatever it's called works really well for me

Another problem for me is that I do art on the same desk as my pc peripherals and I prefer that the only things I have to clean off it be eraser stuff. (Watercolors are surprisingly easy to not spill at all)

Oridays has a great video about the 1-2-3 shadow system for anime art which is basically what I’m doing. Basically you draw a big general shadow and move on to darker and smaller shadow shapes. Besides that it’s a lot of trial and error

It's just easier to get used to than things like raw UTAU

Machine learning vocal synthesizers aren't "AI" as in "generative AI", but in that case
UTAU (OpenUTAU) it is, start with something like Kasane Teto or Adachi Rei, or, if you'd like, go for something more obscure
The limit is whatever exists unless you learn to make your own

I have sort of a meta question related to art in streaming communities, maybe one of you guys has an idea...
I've been following this small IRL streamer. There is very little going on in his discord and many who join end up leaving soon after.
A while ago the streamer got himself a small plushie mascot, which he brings up quite a lot. It's generally quite a simple shape (which means it would be very easy to draw or to turn into 3D art).
I'd love to find a way to inspire the community to make fanart. Do you have any ideas how that could be done?
I did try to model the plushie in Blender, but neither do I have the knowledge to do it well (yet), nor is my laptop fast enough for any spectacular rendering, so I'd prefer to leave this task to the other members of the community. (Let me know if you need pictures/clips, I didn't mean to make this message sound like an ad.)

It occasionally makes funny "comments", or "dances" to music, that kind of thing. Recently, the streamer briefly lost it on a beach only to find it again shortly after, ever since that day, the community keeps "checking if it's still there"...

There already are some very simple emotes, basically just cropped screenshots

i dont have much knowledge
in this topic but generally speaking i think to inspire people to do fanarts paradoxically you need fanarts xd. funny comments, simple dances to music that you mentioned is really good here. maybe some simple daily scenarios that people can relate to. People would do art if would feel connected
Also this mascot could be added on channel, like for example if someone followed, playing some animation with it. It can be added on twitch page where all the info is, like many other streamers do

If you want something quick and mostly correct, just draw a circle, stretcy it i to an ellipse, scale it to the height of the head and erase the back side
