Actually the first time I drew something like that. I tried using a preset brush at first, but it looked clanky, so ended up doodling it with a fine pen brush. Just drew the crescents first, then scribbled the rest.

You're using a digital brush that's a constant size, use one with pressure sensitivity or thinner size
