jokes aside, yeah art block sucks so it's about knowing oneself and learning to deal with such situations... for me it's stuff like playing video games more for a while and not trying to force myself too much... which admittedly works when doing art is more of a hobby

Something that helps is realizing what you are experiencing isn't art block. It's a period when the creative juices recess temporarily. Don't think of it as an obstacle to overcome, but as a natural phenomenon. Creativity comes in waves: some days it is a tsunami, other days it's low tide. On days where it's calm and the creativity isn't flowing, rest your mind, and prepare for the creativity to come. Once you start thinking about art block's like this, it feels less like a failure for not being creative, but a time to rest your mind :)

There are many methods for dealing with art block. One that works often for me is to jump into a new creative medium that I have little to no skill at. Something that I'm early enough in that I don't really need to bring any creativity because I'm on the basics, I like 3d for this personally because I constantly forget how to do everything so any time I jump into it I spend an hour just trying to remember all the buttons and things which will get me enough into a flow state to actually start making things. That or irritate me enough that I just go back to drawing because I don't feel like dealing with blender anymore. Depends on the person though, different things work for different people.

I got curious so I broke it down as accurately as I can. This is frankly too much guidelines, but you can use it if you want to be as accurate as possible or just remove some guidelines and eyeball some of it so its easier

red guidelines is the traced one while blue is without tracing

something you develop as you get better at art is observation and breaking down complex shapes into simple ones. you're eyeballing skills should improve with your art

I didn't really have an option since the scene I had in mind doesn't work well with child-like characters, nor would I enjoy drawing it with neuro and evil looking like children because of the lost limbs and post-apocalyptic vibe

That being said, I might draw another scene with a lot of destruction some time later that has neuro and/or evil in the usual form, but the scene I'm imagining has a completely different feel

I really might have to draw the other scene too because of how much imagining it hurts, I hope I don't forget it

By slowly adjusting the paint color while painting over a base color with a low opacity brush that mixes slightly with colors below and has pressure sensitive flow

That's how I do it, you can get a similar result many other ways too

I like leaving some texture but if you want none, something like airbrush and a smudge tool can help, especially when combined with some way of limiting the area where color goes down

But in general I'd just recommend experimenting with different brushes, tools and settings until you find what works the way you like

Tools do what they are designed to do. Hard round brush is, well, hard, so the marks it leaves will have sharp edges. Limiting yourself to a specific brush can be useful but also limits what you can do

Yeah, brushes don't make you better but they can make the process more comfortable. I like a brush that I can layer over itself to get a gradient instead of doing every little color change with the color wheel

Okay writer stuff: a few years ago I have convinced my friends to write when I was high/drunk on coffee (only coffee) I was writing thousands of words of chapters of my original digital book story. Literally pumping out chapters 3 to 10k daily. And now they are doing their own work with their own genres my book on wattpad has reached a total of 215+ chapters with 300k words (I think) 1k views in total (it’s extremely long and some wattpad stuff is very naughty so my story probably won’t get seen a lot.) but it’s all about fun! And work fun because working on this is fun. I just helped my Asian friend write his 8 chapter he is doing it slow because he’s learning and doesn’t have the amount of imagination I have (I have horrible memory so I can only pump our stuff rarely). that said I feel like artworks aren't truly finished, it's artistic sense or something that tells you it's good enough... otherwise it just becomes indecisive by either redoing bunch to change style or something or making changes that others barely notice at glance... so your six hour drawing turns weeks or months long project with barely any difference XD

though one issue I had on that is the outlines were all different colors, I should have made it all black

even as a hobby it's a good idea... varied lineart thickness, a pen handles differently due how you grab it vs your mouse and move it around, etc ^^ especially if you want to do stuff like curves, circles, etc it's so much nicer

also stuff like rendering which includes shading is better when you get varied size while drawing depending of pressure

krita does have stabilizer that helps me with mouse, I use it alot

if I ever feel like it I could try drawing a little on paper though I don't think I have anything to color with, only issue is there isn't really a good way of me doing symmetrical stuff

I tried using more thick outlines and such and I really like how it turned out, I might acually stick with this style for a good while

Did little lines in the hair because added more texture

I would get art tablet and not use keyboard and mouse but for personal reason I can't right now

if you have skill knowledge experience it can virtually transfer to any medium

nice... been focusing on improving hair too personally... depending of artstyle it's a big part of how character looks like when it comes to head area... characters like 2B especially while eyes are hidden a lot of her recognizable looks from upper body is her hair and mouth
