I think its usually just practice with a Vanishing point and a box for example, eyeball it(towards the Vanishing point) and then make a grid to compare and point out what you did wrong

I re-read my own message and I can see how it can sound misleading... even art that looks messy made by an experienced artist during process doesn't mean they aren't being deliberate with their lines and stuff although the actual drawing part is partly intuition which is nurtured while doing art

overal very clean and good design.
so got only a few remarks
-the hoody blends to much with the surrounding colour making it hard to distinguise from the back.
-the vizor looks the same as the vtuber emote that expresses embarrasment.
-the led/neon colour lines are hard to see as there close to the skin colour.

(personaly i whould add more fabric mesh detailing to the purple so that it stand more off to the other materials, but thats more a personal style preference as one could simply claim that the scifi fabric have less wrinkles)

while it's quite popular nowadays to do cat eared versions of various characters, I think elves with cat ears cybernetic or not are so rare so it's kind of cool combo

Considering that my original design also went with the cyber alien with cat ears and cable tail I felt that I might as well continue with it

advice that i also give to cosplayers:
fine detailing is great to do as a artist but realistically most people will see/photograph the cosplayer from a few meters away and miss out on all the fine details that are only visible when your close up.
so enlarge all the fine details, make more contrast between the colours and use more hard lines/shade lines for it to jump out. (if you want a larger presence)

downside to this is that to you do it to much you'll get a cartoonish style or generic, what will sell better.
also not as interesting to do as a artist

It’s stiff, but proportion wise it looks pretty good. I would start with a gesture drawing to make the figure less stiff, and don’t be afraid to exaggerate movement. You did the hands and feet pretty well though, which isn’t always the easiest.

Just start drawing. You can start with a spiral on a separate canvas or paper or document and after that just draw badly. Don’t try to make it perfect just draw badly and you can fix it later.

good ways at least personally to learn about what colors work nicely together... observing art in similar style and just trying various colors... also, you have likely seen color theory in action in ways various buildings have their overall colors done, etc... so if you can visualize that stuff etc it helps

unless it's painted by some home owner with no sense of color for example

you could also add some variety in the sound, or make it slowly increase in volume or something

to make it feel like the song is progressing somehow, rather than just being the exact same every time the main set of notes is repeated

it's hard to say like... typically artists don't charge amount the effort should be paid for... especially when they're starting to try get commissions

my experience of commissioning art has been wild... it ranged from expensive, people charging very low compared to effort and scammers that either made sketch if that and wanted payment via shady sites XD

partly why I try to build my own art skills... I don't wait for months due queue... and it's also just nice

Also pass him that drawing good is not enough to do commissions unfortunately. He need some management skills; upload arts on other socials, etc; so more people see their art and potentially be interested in commissioning
