No matter how much I draw or think I improved, whenever I start a new drawing it just feels like all of my skill just goes back to zero. I know that isn't true, but it's such a weird feeling.

For me it was partly because the processes of rendering and sketching are very different that its a whiplash. I also did not have a good way to start a drawing before, but now that I have a way to start that feeling is basically gone

Just the basic, shadows are darker and usually more saturated than the base colors, highlights have a tint of the base color and the general shapes of shadows and stuff

for highlights I prefer a contrasting colours, like hair highlights i might do purple or pink if their hair is brown or black idk

like there are these sacred aspects they just force down to throat to new artists without questioning context

Retry is saying right, but it's not so about perspective, but more about understanding the shapes of objects. If you can draw basic shapes (box, ball, pyramid, and so on) without any problems, then you can draw everything else if you imagine and simplify it to basic shapes

The biggest I’ll give, is just to draw badly. Don’t be so focused on trying to make everything perfect at the start, you’re just going to drive yourself insane and give up. It’s the same for writing or any other creative activity, you can always turn shit into a masterpiece, but you’re not going to make a masterpiece at the start.

Learning to see is more important than learning to draw. Looking at a complex object and first breaking it down into simple shapes will help you draw more accurately.

Maybe adding a bit of shading to make it look like they’re lit by the fire could help ground them in the environment? On the marshmallows specifically almost looks like you’ve added shadows in the direction of the flame.

I’m bad at lighting tho, so I get it if you don’t want to go through the trouble OxO
