I think you have potential to be an artist.. you show very much how beginner draws once they start to first learn anime style for example... one thing I would recommend experimenting with what kind of brush you want to use for your lineart... this "pencil" like lineart works better for stuff like small pixel art

if you are doing cell shading, then tbh i dont see a reason to use this method, it would be easier to color manually , but if you still want to, then use gradient map on top of your layer with grayscale

with overlay mode

or soft light more, or color mode

its actually depends

just try different and choose what looks better

in gradient map you choose what most dark and light colors would be

i can actually show example on my old work 1 sec

"Father, thank you so much for this!" Evil hugged his leg, as that was all she could reach, "It really means a lot to me! I love you so much!"

Vedal paused, then found a smile coming to his face. He reached down and tussled his daughter's hair. "No problem, I'm glad you like it."

"Five minutes, miss Neuro!" the building's manager told her. 

"Alright," she said, "I'll be right there!" She let go of Vedal's leg as he hopped off the stage. He stopped in front of her, leaning down and planting a little kiss on her forehead.

"Good luck, Evil. We need to go find our seats. C'mon, Neuro."

Neuro followed their father as he walked off towards a big set of double doors, but not before stopping to give her little sister a BIG hug! Neuro was wearing a white t-shirt, and matching hat, with black lettering that said 'Evil's #1 Fan'. 

"You're gonna do great!" Neuro said with a smile. Evil, taken aback, reciprocated the hug.

"Thanks!" She said, before Vedal called Neuro again and she ran off after him, making a 'swoosh' noise as she extended her arms out again.

Evilyn took a couple deep breaths, before climbing the stairs onto the stage, now shrouded in shadow, as the crowd took their seats. Thousands of light sticks glowed from the darkness, the only thing Evil could see. They were all there for her. She knew she'd always remember this moment, this feeling of seeing so many people there just to see her perform. Typically, I draw in the soviet union inspired artstyle, with a mix of both regular and PNG art, i also lately have been fusing mixes of fake 3D as well

My artstyle tends to lack any sort of Line art at times, and the base is typically made out of deformed shapes, but if lineart is still done, im not shy to add textures into my coloring. Giving the art that almost crafty feeling

For what i use i use these things for it as well:

Picsart (Strictly for downloading PNGs, i avoid any AI usage for obvious reasons, i do sometimes use it for editing certain pngs to appear more weirder)

Ibis paint (Main art program)

PNG maker (To make pngs out of certain fake or non png images that cannot be gained from Picsart)

Inspos:

To get into the vibes of the art, i typically use Pinterest and SoundCloud to get into the vibe, i often also mix in heavy symbolism into my art. And most of the time, design aspects are almost always on purpose of a piecie. I studied both symbolism and astrology so- I know mah stuff (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)

I base my artstyle on Madoka Magica as well, specifically the witches found within it. But if i had to connect it to something else : It would be tales of tales, a russian cartoon movie about a wolf, that goes through the memories of people during war.
