I tend to use green light for displays in my art but.. I think in this case blue looks like a good choice

but either one works really... in my opinion...

some video games, fiction, etc use color coding intentionally... like blue is for good guys and red for bad guys

There should be softer clays out ther that pro sculptors like to use, but you typically need to build a skeleton out of steel wire or something for them so they don't go all floppy before they harden

csp is the primary for my digital art. i usually just do a super messy sketch with the default paintbrush, line art with the same brush (or then g-pen depending how i feel), fill in the base colours and shade and highlight. im not great at backgrounds but i usually do the same for backgrounds.

for backgrounds i have one of the twins, but for where the character is the focus i have one of filian i can show

You can think of a mask layer as a reversible eraser, but its actual uses are far more extensive

A very handy skill is that when coloring, if different materials on a character require different shadow colors, you can fill them all at once and then use a mask to determine the shape of the shadows

it is how you use it, lets say you got a good story in your head but as life can be very time demanding you'll use the Ai tool to generate a quick storyboard for when you do have time.
as a tool it works great as a artist Ai is missing a soul.

If you need something for poses, just learning some basics in something like blender as helped me figure out that stuff, otherwise depending on what you need like anatomy or figuring out how clothing works there’s different methods. I’ve went to someone about telling me tips about anatomy for things like how different parts of the body are scaled

for clothing folds and stuff in particular there’s such a broad range from acceptable to good that checking other artwork with similar clothes and limb positions has helped give a general idea. Personally depending on how your style looks might impact the finer details of clothing though i feel

it is a heavy time investment to learn a new tool (pencil) and understand all the options and how to use the software (100-500hours)

if one understand computer usage to know enough shouldn't take even fraction of that to start and then figuring out things from there as you learn while drawing

there are people from older generations that have struggled to get into computer usage due their mindset they were taught... read entire manual, etc first before even daring to press on button due fear of something going wrong

My advice would be to not think about it, just scribble whatever, let the stylus glide on the screen, draw squares, write your name. Whatever you feel like it. You can then escalate from there

I got various arguably bad experiences when it comes to commissioning art which is part of it... I don't view them bad in sense people would easily understand... I view them as learning experiences I suppose... like commissioning art can be pain to butt... and comes with a chance artist just scamming you

it ended up motivating me to learn

also heh... it just saves so much money and now I enjoy it as a hobby

This does not mean that it can not be used, it is very useful for example to make a smooth transition between colors, gradient in other words

i'm not very used to doing gradient but when coloring eyes i like to use, and airbrush is the most useful for me

Cell shading is just better at Conveying form and proper edges, though I think its fine to soften edges for round surfaces

The hard edges basically makes it clear where the light hits and the shadow begins and where it ends

That's usually taught to beginners because they probably don't understand form yet and default to airbrush to get the smooth gradients. The problem is that shadows can be soft and vague or hard and well defined, and learning how to manipulate it's consistency and shape it's important to create good shadows. The airbrush is intentionally designed to give soft edges, so unless you really know what you're doing with the tool and how shadows work, your work is going to look very smudged. There are other, simpler, and more versatile tools that are way better for a beginner to learn these things.

yeah so far i can't understand soft shadows, but i know they exist sometimes and for that i tend to just blur the layer and pray it works. idk if that's bad
