Doesn't need to be fancy. Just something small is a start. Set a 1 minute timer. Make something random and fast in that one minute.

A lot of people struggle with beginning due to loops of doubts.

Pen and paper.
Close your eyes, then start counting to 10 and move around.
Once you finish the countdown, open your eyes and whatever object you see first, draw it.

If the drawing looks okay, good.
If you fucked up and made a lot of mistakes in the drawing, even better.

ye, I wanted to delve deep into it because I gain knowledge way easier by learning everything about something. I’m not entirely sure how much that applies to art, but that’s how I learned so much about various fields of math and science

This approach does work-ish. Always great to learn it, as I have gone through a similar learning process, though as someone who’s gone thru the pains of this process, applying each concept from scratch is a tradeoff between time and output. By making things more precise, you lose so many hours throughout the day that could have been saved simply by internalizing the processes that you’ve learned. Examples are Kim Jung Ji who internalized the entire perspective grid within his mind to create masterpieces. Even Mogoon, who I’d argue has a very scientific approach to his artwork, still only uses such ideas when the time lost is worth the intent he’s trying to convey. Otherwise, he doesn’t really use things like guidelines, anatomy knowledge, etc in an overly precise manner. You’ll get only a small drop in quality but time you can save by streamlining some of these precision approaches are potentially enormous.

frick, i always end up essaying these things. Anyways, I don’t want others losing themselves to 40 hour pieces because of precision. I suffered much to that and its not worth it.

I agree that her head is a bit small in proportion to her hair
her right forearm (left from viewer's pov) looks a bit long in proportion to the bicep.
another small thing is the lock of hair that comes over her shirt, it causes the hair to lose depth
I hope I don't sound too nitpicky, it's a very cool drawing! maybe add some tears to her stockings?

This is a super cool composition holy heck!!! I think the use of value to create the illusion of transluscence is really neat.
One thing to keep in mind is tangents. An example image would do a better job at explaining this but tangents are when two objects (such as lines or shape) touch but do not overlap. Tangents can create visual disharmony and are generally avoided in illustrations like these.
I'd also recommend using reference for the details like ruffles and frills.
Compositionally this is very strong. Do you plan on filling some of the empty space on the right? I think it works either way, just curious

thank you, that’s really informative. So far with my experience I need to learn the more intricate details before I’m able to internalize it. Like for front facing full body, I had to learn a bunch of guidelines and such, but now I’m able to do it with very little to no guidelines. I am VERY new to perspective so I’d like to continue to draw the guidelines until I fully figure it out (which I am very close to ) before I simply it further. Although you probably have saved me from some turmoil I might’ve caused myself in the future so thanks :)

HIGHLY recommend using reference — take photos of yourself if you don't want to be accused of copying or plagiarism. Combining reference + guidelines will train your brain to visualize in a 3D space much more efficiently.

oh ABSOLUTELY I do that all the time! I’m really really bad with drawing without a reference so this was also good practice without it.

Funny enough mogoon doesn't use it nowadays mostly because he has own visual library and already knows the precise guidelines for anatomy. It's second nature to him.

If you look over at the PSD files for his old work you can find him putting more detail into the skeleton and figure because he was still trying to figure out how to go around about it

And then it resulted into his later work which is a lot more simplified and compact overall.

Probably though then again usually depends on how well you're able to adapt to the workflow because, based on my experience working professionally, you're gonna have to find a formula on how to approach the work otherwise you're gonna fall behind.

Liduke, for example does this type of stuff in a day.

I personally feel as if it's less about being formulaic but more the lack of inherent appeal and in-depth knowledge of what makes an artwork good.

I follow guides. Most of the models I've made are from the book "Animal Origami for the Enthusiast" by John Montroll. Has a good range for different skill levels, and the fox is definitely one of my favorites from the book.
