my workflow this time is kind of tedious but there’s a few things i aim for

I make sure that the general lighting is mapped out first (shadows have to have the same color temperature as the background, AKA if its red/purplish, then the shadow will be warm/neutral)

I use overlay for warmth in the light areas and to add subsurface scattering

I make sure the hair in the background get darker and blends more and more into the background color the further they are (atmospheric perspective)

Then I make sure all the shadows are present, form shadow, contact shadows, ambient occlusion, and a warm bounce light beneath miku’s chin, and certain parts of the hair

lastly i do a lot of color correction using color curves and HSV sliders to make sure the theme of the entire piece is somewhat warm

i had trouble with motivation, but i started shifting my view to more of contentment. I always asked myself to apply a new concept I learned (even if its a minor thing) and if it showed up in my piece the way i wanted, i was content. And I just kept that mentality when learning, which helped me power through a lot of boring tutorials.

1. a box is the most straightforward way to showcase how perspective works. It is formed by sets of parallel lines, each pointing directly to a different dimension. JPEG uses lossy compression which creates aliased white pixels in corners that fill bucket CANNOT fill
PNG uses lossless compression. Whites are white and separate from other colors instead of pixelated whites that are somehow “colored” and not fillable

Transparent pixels become less dominant in the corners because everything is bigger

The problem however is that the bigger the canvas the higher the skill ceiling, at least imo

You gotta cover more distance with each line, and that requires more control for a longer period of time

New artists will be wobbly on a big canvas but may find a smaller one to be easier to deal with

When I went back to smaller canvas, even less detail started looking “complete”

Meanwhile trying to put detail on a small canvas is like doing pixel art

Find the smartest way to make a detail fit and make it recognizable

you will have the option to expand the filled area by a number of pixels

or close gaps

however many pixels wide

so with +2 explansion and gap filling

it will close the antialiased gap.
