wip but this is how i feel watching streamers when im sick and barely awake
Okie dokie
Thank you!
I'm drawing something for an art timelapse video tomorrow and I wanted to give him a cute turtleshell backpack and an open zip-up hoodie instead of his regular one
But didn't want to deviate too much >w<
feel free to add your own spin! there's no actual "canon"
I personally like the ones where he has a black turtleneck under the green hoodie
also glasses

Wrong chat
sleep pls

my sibling in oily joshua you might start seeing things if you get sleep deprived
ill be so fr i have never been not sleep deprived
the entirety of last month was just 2 hours constantly
time to hit the melatonin
lmao imagine repaying all that sleep debt in one sleep
you wake up a day or two after
i think yhats just called death š
no see you wake up after
even worse,,,,
I need an overdose amount fr fr
You good, Sleep?
been feeling better recently, sickness is subsiding
I keep taking melatoning but i keep getting woken up like 2 hour later anyways
I don't think taking melatonin works that great.
melatonin is ok!! it just makes it so your body produces more of the eepy hormone, thuogh overdosing is obviously bad
no better option anyways
You actually need to sleep with no screen, no light, no sound. no med, no sure-fire remedy. Let your natural body resting phase that care of it.
impossible for me, my mental illnesses will take over, dont worry though I'll be okay <3
Just take a baseball bat and knock yourself out (donāt listen to me)
Oh dear.
true true!!
(im listening)
I hope you have a good rest tho. Please go to sleep
I WILL!! do my best!
damn it it's hard to draw with a tablet without a display
even if the pen is much better on the intuos
Small sketch but my creation found a new friend
is traditional art allowed here?
any kind of art
alr tnx
my tutel design with a cute shell backpack
Oo, coming along nicely it seems!
Yeah! I think I'll be able to finish this tomorrow āØ
One more fan art before they come back
When I post the final doodle on the art channel, is it alright to post a youtube video of my timelapse in the comments? Or is that against self-promo rules?
it is alright
i mean as long as you don't say "join my patreon" or something
im so fked
woke up late ate late skipped work
all of the above to excuse to play tft
went 8th back to back to back
sajj

Kan, you can't be serious
x3 looking like an emote used for mocking i thought u sent xdd
Oh, I thought you meant that you skipped your work for the 8th times to play tft.
Both my hands were up on and against my head in disbelief.
I'm so sorry, I misunderstood that.

Metal Sonic
what if metal sonic was neuors #1 fan lol
shadow #1 evil fan
I thought Neuro was like a fan of Sonic..... while eating Mcdonalds.
haha, neuro is getting a happy meal toy of metal sonic
Yeah, I can imagine that were a caseš¤
would be cute to see them both being fans of each other
like metal sonic in neuro merch and lava lamp connected to him
and neuro with a sonic hat
I don't think Metal would be fond of Sonic stuffs. Cuz Sonic is Metal Sonic's rival.
yeah i meant metal sonic hat lol
Ah, I'm geeking out about Sonic,
This Metal Sonic talk got me looking for these SMBZ doodles I made like⦠2 years ago? I should redo em.
duuuude i love the smbz
LETS GOOO
it was peak, when i was a kid
Characters that featured the most in the Mcdonald's happy meal toy that I remember, are Sonic, Tail, Knuckles, and Eggman. Other after the 2010, I don't remember.
Sicks, that'd be cool if you do redraw them.
did an art. its probobly not as good as other stuff here but still thought id share it for others to see and maby enjoy idk
made my pfp, that turned out cool and then i evolved it into this one
Metalix is my guilty pleasure
usually i dont do just one arm but i couldnt find a way to add the other arm without it looking jank
or other hand rather
usually i dont do floating hands either. this is a real weird one for me lol
i like the mecha sonic design more
but fair
Despite being Sonic fan, I've never draw any single Sonic art. I'd draw them, but my current one is still not finish yet.
Oh yes, Mecha Sonic. š¤
dude i just did my first art
you SHOULD
:now:
man, i love like-minded people
I'm still stuck with my current one. It was put on hold for two months and I determent to finish it. It's been like 5 days since I start to get back to it and It's still not done
alright man, no worries its understandable we are all always busy with something right?
true for me too
goodbye!
Ok but this is pretty nice so far
Helping out a friend with a snippet of music. They asked to create a small melody for their bassline and I came up with this.
Itās simple but
Dats adorwble
Thanks
Np!

I should probably draw more drawings. Possibly more neuro.
Nice melody sounds like an old school game sounstrack
Thank you!
Speaking of old school game OSTs
I dunno if I shared this one here
Aw dang, canāt send it via mobile
i have a question
i just posted an artwork to the forum thing. would i be allowed to link a timelapse video i made or would it be considered advertisement
I asked the same question earlier and people said it was fine
ok cool
What is art
(Like what are the guidelines for what can be posted to art channels)
That may be a weird question im sorry, im autistic lol
Choclate? Like writitng and stuff
yeah
ball
ball
two majestic balls... lol... anyway on more serious note it can be nice way to examplify how a simulated lighting method behaves
idk if i wanna render this fully or just slap on some grayscale and gradient maps and call it a day lol
Just gray scale it

so real for this
I never colored any of my sketches :LULE:
Well, maybe using some colored pen

I'm still not there yet
i might start drawing again tomorrow
i just need to learn those damn eyelashes from mika pikazo
So I tried to use the pre-installed paint app on my pc to draw Neuro, rather than drawing with pencil and paper like I usually do, and I think neuro is missing a few chromosomes.
Wtf have I done?
now this is like ms paint like art... not that this is probably actual ms paint art XD
it's just oddly... pure I suppose
I think imma stick with pencil and paper from now on, and erase this neuro drawing off the face of the planet.
erm
funny though... it's thick like camel's neck... the neck part ^^

I meant giraffe but camel works better I think lol ^^
Frfr, when I tried my first ever drawing on tablet I draw shittily, nothing beats the classic pencil and paper
Agreed.
ngl i didnt have problems i think when i first tried digital
What u used? The graphic tablet with the screen?
Lmao
It's the opposite for me, I've never been able to draw traditionally, so I didn't do it. But when I recently decided to try digital, it turns out I can draw lol
tru i became better at drawing in digital
Interesting
Anyways here's a quick Neuro. By quick, I mean 1h or so LULE
Cute
ty
Here's another one of my many sketches.
Hollow Technique: Purple is created when the repulsive forces of Red are combined with the attractive forces of Blue, bringing forth imaginary mass.
i dont see a problem what so ever
majestic Indeed, more so than my paint doodles
Idk if I'd call it "majestic", it's not really a good drawing, just something I scribbled.
Who are those guys? Also nice drawing š
ganbare
Peppino Spaghetti (Left) from hit indie game wario-like of 2023, Pizza Tower, and Dynamite Anton (Right) of hit indie game wario-like of 2024, Antonblast
I thought the one on the left looked familiar, but I wasn't sure.
Now that I got no comms, I am free as a bird to draw whatever I want now
Might do an Evil sketch sometime soon
gotta have to speedrun this for the camila contest, at least I dont feel as sick now
lol
I think for people that lack context it will be weird why there is a turtle XD

What's the context?
Day 3: quickly tried to squeeze more practice in on lunch today. Hope y'all like it!
That's awesome. Gonna be an amazing artist
way you draw the eye is pretty similar to my digital art... I know it's not that I have that orignal style but still... cool ^^
having a line under eye... I noticed a lot of people don't generally draw it that way but I'm one of those who tend to do so thinking it looks good
I though it looked really cool so wanted to give it a try. Glad to have squeezed in a little practice on my break.
Currently in the process of redesigning a character for my game
I wanna strike a fine balance between Vampire Bat and Death Demon so
Getting there w/ the right one at least
It looks great!
Thank you!
Back on the neuro grind
That looks soo good
hi artist chat i drew neuro on my english annotations
holy moley
Bazinga
I love this
āBazinga!ā
āHoly Moley!ā
Iām really curious what kind of person the professor/teacher who is reviewing your work is.
Cute Neuro drawing though!
Is there a contest going on rn?
Love the artwork
Super cute family portrait
Super cute
Beautiful
I finished it!
I challenged myself to complete it before Vedal came back from the milk store
Oh, wow. Not gonna meet the deadline then š
WIP i meant to finish like 3-4 days ago but now school suddenly ramped up and I don't have any free time
drew one of my ocs
idk if anyone here messes with uma musume... i love my anime horse girls fr
I know about them, but I have not really watched them
Working on a little customization for my plasma ball š
š Is that going to be attached to the front?
yeah just gotta 3D print and paint the model
As soon as I find the flash drive for my printer. Wish my printer had WiFi XD
I like the bow lol
It turned out well, I would have extended the eye from below and made shadow darker
Maybe that's why you feel like you missed something idk
hm maybe it is the eyelashes lemme make it darker
oh yeah there nice it looks better
i could probably start drawing evil in mika pikazo's style now
yeah looks good
Wanted to say hi here to fellow artists. New to this Discord. Finally worked up enough confidence to actually try to join chats here.
hi again
oh hello again š.
you a artist?
Hi !
digital?
Can I drop CAD in here
yeah
Art is subjective, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
ooohhh
I just doxed myself
yep! I a artist
its daytime over here tho
You have unlocked new role
yeah, procreate specifically
Magolor
oh nice, i mostly do traditional
O cool. What kind of medium? i like traditional too, though I use it mostly for my art studies.
I feel like my proportions are always off if I didnāt have my adjustment tools in digital
its due to my school so its mostly still life and nature, i am now try to make anime chara drawings that i am seeing
I use krita to make stuff lol
i feel like im going the opposite route. i draw a lot of anime, but recently iāve been trying to include more nature and still life backgrounds. I want to get better at implied texture in my shading of backgrounds.
if it works for u, thatās all u need.
lol, due to school, I have always been doing still life and nature, I haven't really ever done humans or anime characters
Thanks
I see. Hopefully youāll get more time soon. Character arts are pretty fun.
oh yee meant to share earlier, my main artistic endeavor the past year, holography XD
plus this is a good way to segue into drawing more Neuro
yeah, I have always wanted to learn it
I have done that it is fun
yup I wish I could
CUTEEE
Excalās art tip shorts are a perfect channel resource on YouTube if you want quick and easy character knowledge.
nice
more random pokemon art lol
š¤©
Thanks!
ok, I will look into it
how does that even work? Is it like a series of images inside or something?
You are very cool
I feel like I can still draw them, but I would have to look at someone else's work to do it
yeah, same for me. i needs my references.
They are eight hours away, though in a box full of lenses
I am doing my first one (took permission) it's half done but I would say it doesn't look too bad
Yay! Would love to see it once its finished
, if thatās okay
Special insanely high resolution film, and a special insanely narrow band laser, captures the way light reflects off an object so that the image appears 3D
Its a very physics heavy subject
geez, that sounds hard to make, although thereās probably a program to set up the image or something so maybe its not as difficult as im imagining it.
let's see how it turns out, tho that face and all stills feels out of my league
Its all analog š
you got this!
what in the pro?
Making a hologram is pretty much entirely an analog process
thanks
u must have the hand stability of a statue. that sounds crazy.
oh its all on a isolation setup
oh i see
Us meatbags cant sit still enough for holography
XD
Half a wavelegth of light movement is all it takes to spoil a hologram exposure
its..,fun
sounds fun. thatās crazy. thatās actually crazy.
reminds me of physics
Like the skull for that watch, I modeled it, 3D printed it, and cast it in pewter
I did my physics 2 third exam on my phone while driving
i always liked the idea of a hobby that ties multiple skills together.
Cuz you gotta have a phyiscal object to make a hologram of it
its extrodinarily physics heavy
doing lab experiments at home like with chemicals
oh yeah theres chemistry too for some of the methods
Most the time I make my own holographic plates
Lots of fun, highly toxic and carcinogenic chemistry yaaay
can you imagine a 13-15 yrs old boy doing chemistry experiments with h2so4 and others at home under no supervison?
Can you imagine him then, spilling it on his leg and joining the Marines?
Never messed with acids much tbh
Did have some misadventures with methanol in my teen years
Set my deck on fire a bit
good times
I thought you were going somewhere else with that
sounds like a good time /s
bro had said, he once had a hole through his table and all cause his mom put the acid in a plastic bottle
I used to use hydrochloric acid to clean my glass for making plates and even that stuff made me uncomfortable
just so you know, buying sulphuric acid is illegal here
Me and my buddy, who is in the Marines now. We used to cut open car batteries and concentrate the sulfuric acid out of them
I want to get some nitric acid to make silver nitrate for photochemistry
Nitric is even harder to get here though
wait, where would ppl normally even get this kind of stuff? Sounds like youād have to find an actual lab.
I failed science so I donāt know much about this stuff, but it sounds really interesting.
I mean here I can order it from chem suppliers online
Its just expensive because of hazmat shipping fees
i see
And nitric you buy too much and the government comes knocking on your door
Have you made fuming nitric acid before?
I havent no
L ratio
Its harder to make it than it is to buy it
True but itās the friends we make along the way that count
Pretty much all the precursors to making nitric acid are restricted because they can also make things that go boom
No fun nitrate salts for me
Could make it using that electric arc method but thats slow and energy intensive
how did the text end up like that
looks a bit inspired by both comic and manghwa style.
A mind split and a vision tornāsuch is the nature of things when meaning fractures upon the weight of perception. The hand that draws, the eye that beholds, neither can claim dominion over what is made. It lingers between them, shapeless until called by name.
...i see
I see that your mouth only speaks in eloquence.
I thank thee for your knowledge, sensei
VERY rough sketch of evil
Eloquence? No, merely a fevered whisper from the void, where meaning is a shadow cast by delusion. Words are but shapes in the dust, waiting for the wind to take them.
nice
Wind? Me? I don't remember taking shapes in the dust anywhere.
I see...
ooh nice
makes sense
he means his words
not you
i know, im just making bad puns
lol
artist alley
It looks great so far!!
hey hi
Hope you had a great Monday!
yesterday was fine ig
and you? how your day going?
Today has been the best cos it started two hours ago and I just finished starting to animate something for a friend.
Yesterday was ok. I like my job but I really want to keep working on my own stuff.
lol nice
nice
Yeah. I work in the stuff I like to do outside of work which is nice but it kills motivation when I get out from work cos it's a lot harder to boot up premiere/after effects after I've been doing it for 8 hours already.
Thankfully people in the swarm and Minowan have been helping me get the motivation back and keep me going on my drawing practices!
hard work is its own master, relentless and unsatisfied. It does not rest, does not yield, only demands more. A man who labors in his passion finds the line blurred, the weight unceasing.
I got too into it
It looks great so far!
yeah i need to work on learning hair
puffy ball
I struggle with the same thing ngl and my drawings regarding hair tend to turn out similar to yours. I've been thinking that maybe the problem with hair is that it's hard to convey depth using a singular colour? Using shadows and some blending in the hair might help in conveying this missing depth? I also notice that you're missing the bulge that Annie draws on Evils/Neuro's models in that perspective on the top of the head. Adding that roughly on top where the head circle guide might help as well?
so today I noticed a pretty big issue with some of my art which was that when I actually flipped it horizontal, it was very clear there were issues that my brain just, didn't see when it wasn't flipped. I'm gonna start making a habit more of flipping my canvas now but still wondering if there is anything else I could be doing to avoid this because it was pretty startling to see
Here's two images I drew where I've experimented with blending, mainly in the face, but I'm trying to learn how to do it on the hair as well.
hm maybe its also that i group the hair too much and it turns flat
I was thinking gravity or is it supposed to be flowy?
Yes, that could also be an issue. But I'm unsure if that's the absolute solution. Some artists seem to do that, but some seem to make it work while grouping alot. Anni's drawings seem to favour grouped hair tufts more than other artists so it's not so much "your fault" as it is the specific design of the character. Looking at Evil and Neuro, their hair tends to be quite uniform on the top while splitting off more at the bottom. If we want to stay true to the model, we kinda have to group.
That is generally how hair works, they split at the bottom.
Its not that deep guys, if you want object to be less flat just add shadows
Indeed, that was my original suggestion.
neuro balls
Not necessarily
You can convey depth with proper line placements
Well, yes, you can just use the lines
I'm just talking specifically about these cases
Also hair behaves in a certain way, and as long as you get that you're good
Yeah, drawing hair in motion isn't as hard as drawing hair at rest imo.
yeah ig
Another thing I struggle with is the concept of not making hair look uniform like grass, so I try to make the strands more uneven but then it just looks like she got a bad haircut lmao
lol
Breadal987
WIP
bread
Here I switched from Krita to GIMP and quickly added some color to my character's hair and used the smudge tool to try and make hair seem more natural, but the problem I've ran into now is that how I made the conversion doesn't preserve layers so it's smudging the image as a whole. However it might showcase a method (albeit imperfect) to give more depth and hair-like properties.
I don't know where the smudge tool is in Krita or if it even has one. š¦
GIMP
Here's a better example of blending hair, now there's more of sense of volume and depth but the heavy blending clashes with the artstyle!
Conclusion, hair isn't easy.
you could try darkening the outlines between each individual hair section
Fluffy hair
You must think of locks of hair as a solid tridimensional form before adding the texture. It helps to think like a sculptor in this occasion: taking a solid structure and "carving" the hair out with increasingly specific divisions and strands.
Here's a basic illustration of this concept. Courtesy of Proko
Hmm, I don't know right now how to translate that to my drawings. When reflecting on Anni's depictions of the twins, her art doesn't have such strong contrasts as the example. Should I try to reintroduce the lineart in the image?
The important about making strands irregular is to just keep it simple
if you do to much it ends up as grass
tbh the best thing to start with hair is to just create the basic shapes
Like this?
Also, the strands ideally shouldn't be placed at random; they should follow the general flow of the hair to make a pleasing design (like any art concept, it's perfectly fine to break this principle if it is a deliberate choice)
indeed
Not my project since I can't animate, but just an idea someone might see here and pick up
Whenever this anime comes out, and if the OP is good, it would be really funny to swap the mom who made the robot body with Anny, the dad who coded her with Vedal, and the robot girl with Neuro
https://anilist.co/anime/186190/Almachan-wa-Kazoku-ni-Naritai/
also keep in mind from where hair originates and how it should flow
Thank you both for your advice. I should take a break and reflect on this.
It's good to take a break
God damn
What is this?
my osu profile
I tried your advice and tried to improve on the image, but it mostly seems like a bad haircut lol, maybe I have too many strands of hair?
I feel like you dont need to break down the sidebangs so much
Gotcha, I'll try something simpler.
the jawline makes her head look really wide lol... keep at it! ^^
you're right that your art has a bit clashing styles... it feels that skin of the head might be a bit too detailed compared to hair causing it... or something like that
look at vtuber models for example... a lot of them has very gradient and flat like faces to not clash with their hair... pretending I know what I'm talking about ^^
subtle gradients make wonders
looking forward to the stream today
we need something funny and random for us all to latch onto and draw
my sketch of them going to disneyland on foot is so far my most liked and potentially viewed art piece lol
algorithmic nonsense
my most liked one is random expressions practice i did with
lol you're absolutely right. My style of drawing is chaotic mess of different styles and methods and I'm not used to drawing anime. š It can give my art a bit of "attack on titan giant" vibe to it
yeah... the result is that she looks a bit creepy like that lol... attack on titan yeah uses more realistic style to try and make them look a bit creepy (although I tend to find them look kind of hilarious)... anyway you will get hang of it... essentially it's just trying to have similar level detail across the board so it feels more "uniform"
Is she too creepy though? I was going for a creepy vibe but I don't know if I overdid it.
wip
Nice
So good
I just made a quick doodle of my persona, my art style keeps changing still
Cute
looks great
Canāt draw hands. Or feet.
But Iām trying to decide on what the gloves should be, I want it to be ergonomic but also ļ½ļ½
ļ½ļ½ļ½ļ½
ļ½ļ½ļ½.
thats a vibe. hands and feet are hard.
nah I don't find it too creepy... just pointed it out in a case it wasn't intentional... fits well to conquer the earth supervillain theme
i have literally the same, but new
Day 4 isn't going as well as I'd hoped:
Idk why but Neuro is so much harder to draw.
you got this š keep going
uh...
I dunno if i can but, heres something i made before
I like it
oh, really?
Yeah!
thanks!
Here's a cropped vedal
While I'm not an amazing artist but if you want I can try to teach you how to draw hands and feet in different perspectives. That's something I think I'm okay at.
I just wondered, is there a "How To Draw Neuro/Evil/Tutel/friends" (or a character sheet etc.) somewhere on this discord? (I was never really taught how to draw anything specific, let alone portraits, and I kind of regret that now.)
Instead of drawing a specific character, which has the unintentional side effect of locking you into the habit of only being able to draw said characters, itād probably be easier looking for resources online thatāll help with tackling the individual issues you want to fix in art, whether it be faces, hands, anatomy, perspective, proportions, shading, etc. Build up your visual library and fundamentals, and youāll be able to adapt to drawing pretty much anything, and by extension, the neuroverse fanart.
after that, a quick look at any neuro character sheet would probably be much easier to sketch than it had been before
help I forgor how to draw da jaw after 1 month š š š
I've been stuck on dis for so long
measure the distance between hairline and the tip of the nose
approximately
but since your mouth is higher it will be shorter
the point where the jaw pivots, at least from an angle like this, is usually aligned horizontally with where the mouth is. Also the person above me is probably going to drop some important knowledge too š
Here's some hand exercises of my knowledge of the hand in different perspectives. I tried to include some comments too.
palm tapering is one thing i did not realize until now. dang. thatās crazy.
one other interesting thing to note is that due to the webbing between our fingers, our fingers actually appear shorter on the palm side than they do on the dorsal side of the hand.
Yeah slightly. In the style I'm drawing in, it's a bit exagerated if you're comparing the dorsal hand to the open palm one and they're of different proportions as well.
yeah, style really changes things up quite a bit
good notes tho. i learned quite a bit.
I feel like I'm making mistakes I didn't when I started
sadgi
stuff I made when I started a year ago was somehow more correct than now š
a year is a quite some time
New Neuro Logo by fFrequence!
naaaaisu
if only we had a color palette for neuro..
i donāt have a point of comparison to work with since i donāt know your earlier pieces, but you could widen the face a tad bit, especially around the eyeās edges. Thereās a complete separate plane of face to the right and left of each eye (see asaro head for reference), which, under non-anime proportions usually a half-eye length in distance away from the edge of the eye (for anime its a bit smaller). You could also raise the position of the mouth a bit to make it more proportionally correct (which would give the impression of a younger face) or lengthen the overall bottom taper of the jaw to chin area (giving the impression of an older face). These things, once recognized, become easier to adjust.
weāre only human. things get forgotten as time goes on, including aspects of our visual library we subconsciously apply. I forget anatomy all the time even though Iāve studied it quite a bit before. But the plus side is that having knowledge of this before, actually makes relearning it much faster, so you donāt have to spend as much time bringing yourself back to the current level you were at before.
I wish you luck on your art journey.
I feel like I learned so much at the start, like day 17 had its mistakes but I feel it's still insane, then at 5 months I had this eliv drawing, now almost exactly a year I'm back to struggling at faces T-T
Here's my notes on feet. Use the big toe as a guide, especially if drawing from the front. Note that it's not perfect. My skill level is around intermediate and I'm very rusty on my anatomy.
I know I'm just being harsh on myself to some degree but I also can't ignore how hard I'm struggling on digital compared to traditional
how long have you been doing digital compared to traditional
uhh like I had this tablet for 6 months but in terms of use is like a month
cause I had school and personal stuff happening
It's a huion kamvas 12 or smth I got as a gift for passing 10th grade
but 11th came so fast I had like 2 weeks to try it
and only now have I actually had the time to fully try

yeah I say dont beat yourself down and practice more
A lot of trad artist I know dont enjoy digital just because of how different it is
I know I'm overthinking but just feels a bit sadgi seeing how rusty I've gotten
Thanks for the talk ā¤ļø
I love this community so much
genuinely the nicest I've been with
good luck with school and keep practicing
I should also draw more
I have truly become rusty
I dropped out cause my doctor and school said so
jk
it's fine
Thank you for the tips guys!
I have to switch to digital but Iām currently waiting till I get a tablet or pc before I completely switch but rn my skill in sketching is really good so Iām not sure if itās better to switch or not
I need to up load more drawings soon anyways but Iām still working on whole different character bur Iām in the state were my art book might be completely broken soon so not sure wat to do
Also this is my last msg but wat should I call my new character PURE or VALENTINE for a loving emotion character
Drawing digitally has many rewards. I started out sketching traditionally, but going digital allows you to more easily start working in layers which can make the process of complex images a bit easier.
Ever since I started I haven't gone back.
I main digital now mostly too for those same reasons, though I always do my art studies in trad. For me, getting too used to the editing tools digital provides cause me to fall behind in certain areas of linework and proportions and i find not having those advantages when drawing forces me to work on and improve my base drawing skills, which translates well to digital from an efficiency standpoint.
Last on my anatomy, outlining general body and proportions. The arms might be a bit too long as displayed, but it's roughly correct.
This place is so artistic
I respect a lot how much work you put into studying art.
Thank you very much. I'm mostly self-taught so it's so touching that you recognize my efforts!
No problem! I wish I had your same work ethic years ago when drawing. Part of me feels regretful that I couldnāt recapture that time back then to work on improving myself. But better late than never, so Iām trying to work just as hard to get to where I hope to be one day. Seeing your effort is both relatable and inspiring in that way.
Don't be too hard on yourself. I were most active drawing in my 20ies, but I stopped drawing actively because it felt like my skills kinda plateaued. It still kinda feels like the quality isn't there. And while I know a bunch of theory, I'm not that good at actually drawing and transferring my knowledge to paper.
If you want what I've actually produced, it's these most lately. https://discord.com/channels/574720535888396288/1336855652332474458, https://discord.com/channels/574720535888396288/1337163320951836823, https://discord.com/channels/574720535888396288/1337810179512729692, https://discord.com/channels/574720535888396288/1338200301651361893
I'm still trying to improve and I've decided that despite my art being not that great, I want to strive for actually refining my skills this time.
My friend told me something similar. I am pretty hard on myself in regards to some art stuff, but mostly because I really do love art that much, and plus I overthink a lot. I feel like I wouldnāt be doing the idea of art justice, if I kept falling two steps back with subsequent pieces. I still want to be where I thought I couldāve been, had I not given up on improving all those years ago. But I get what you mean. Iāll try to lighten up my self-criticism.
I think youāll do great. The mindset really does affect how you perceive your own works, and before you know it, youāll look back and realize just how much youāve improved.
Looking forward to seeing more of your art. I like your comics.
We are our own worst critics. Art is such a field that it's saturated by many, many talented individuals so one becomes constantly humbled by their skills. It looks like you're of the same mindset as myself and want to strive to refine your skills too and that's very admirable. It's never too late to learn and our wealth of experience still serves us now and will make the process easier than it was back then.
ohh the feet and hand studies are really cool, I just watch videos and wing it lol
indeed. itās never too late.
Thank you! I want to make more comics in the future! I want to take up the hobby of becoming something of a cartoon artist!
Iāve been winging it more recently as per a friendās advice, but it helps to be backed with knowledge of why the winging works, if that makes sense. This way if I spot a mistake, Iād have a definable reason as to why, so Iām not just wading through the mist trying to figure it out.
Doesnāt stop those mistakes from happening, but at least I know the source š
very very true, itās just really hard for me to get back into studying even tho I know itās the best thing to do
Procrastination is my worst enemy..
all i understood is that you all are just much better than me...
vibes.
recently its gotten better for me though, cause past career choices in life gave me so much anxiety i find refuge in art tutorials and learning now.
maybe negative reinforcement is the method all along, though i hope to shift my learning drive to more positive reinforcement soon.
don't worry too much about it, it should get better as time goes on
For me art isn't so much of a work ethic. I've become so disinterested in gaming (which I used spend my time doing), so I decided to pick art up as a hobby. If I'm not doing art, there's not a lot of things I can do for fun.
thanks. Iām starting to see it getting better these days, though still a WIP for me.
Yeahh, for me I felt like I hit my peak in art months ago last year, which is concerning as Iāve only been drawing for a little over a year lol, so Iām really want to return to that time
Also hi again Night š
Few of my past works for reference
so relatable
Iāve been scouring all vids and books trying to find how to push past my peak
and recently iāve found a good few resources that addressed some of my main concerns
which was workflow, shading methods, and composition
Those are marvelous
yeah, hi again wind
took me like months to overcome a single peak but it feels pretty satisfying once i do
I can even pinpoint the exact resources that opened my eyes to new art approaches now cause I go back to refresh my knowledge on them periodically
These are great! I wish I could make stuff like this. Where do you want to go from there?
woww they are great!!
Wow.. organization, I forgot most of my resources
Go from there? I want to go back there lol
only cause they changed my entire style completely with each resource
Iām not sure myself how I managed to draw that
Try something like this. Take your old drawings as a layer in a digital arts suite like Krita or GIMP, then draw over them in a new layer, using your old work as a guide. That can help you refresh your memories on how to do past art.
redraws are always a nice way to see your improvement process
mann...i don't even know how to draw, like i just see somrthing and try to copy it as much as i can
Thats actually a great way to learn
Redrawing feels scary, wouldnāt know how to feel if my redraw turned out worse
dude references are where its at
if youāve targeted where u feel like there was difficulties, you really will only see improvement
and then your mind thinks ādang, it couldāve been even better than thisā
It will probably turn out worse, but think of it as an opportunity to see where you can see your current limitations.
but youāre also happy its better
Honestly, now that I think about it I think I drew those pieces with a mindset of not caring about the end result, because I thought it was gonna look bad anyways
I encourage you to push through, making mistakes is the first step to improvement
hmm really?
its always been like that, idk why others say that its good tho
thatās how iāve been tackling art these past few years, and its been working admittedly even tho i still find problems in my pieces all the time
idk...i try to copy the whole thing..
i mean, thatās how we should be learning anyways
i draw the same leg muscles these past few days based on a photo
once we have enough of a visual library, then we can afford to expand more into the realm of imagination
tho the references will always be a helpful resource
You are observing and analyzing art, you can find things you want to incorporate in your art and learn how others draw stuff and in what way
When I draw Neuro or Evil I always go from a reference image, because otherwise I'd go off-model. And if you think about it, art is all about copying. When we draw, even if we don't have refence images we are just trying to copy things we've seen in real life.
yeah, art isnāt just pure imagination. its not like michaelangelo suddenly became a deity of painting overnight. he copies, he picks out useful elements, he repeats the process, and once it improves, he tries to apply it in an original piece.
The things we put on the parchment has no meaning without the context of its existence. That's why we copy.
Ah yeah, the people who can draw things from imagination most likely drew it like a thousand times with reference
every art is subconsciously inspired by another anyways
exactly
This ^^ and the more you draw new things the easier it will be to construct something you haven't drawn before
Never feel bad about copying purely for the sake of learning.
Without it, I donāt even know if I would have improved at all.
hmm ok, tho idk about others, its still a mystry how the others in class see art, most don't even have any varations in the shading while the good one...idk what goes through them to draw like that
u have to break it down into components and study just those components
and then it starts becoming clear once all the individual components get combined into the whole
these days, im actually starting to understand artists techniques just by looking at a piece. i only used to be overwhelmed a few years back looking at pro artists.
without understanding at all how they do what they did
Don't worry about those too much, there is no one best way to draw or learn. you can take certain aspects of everyone art and compile them for yourself or even create your own
plus, you have a vast amount of resources at your disposal. A helpful art community, huge numbers of videos and books, and even other artists to look over. It is entirely possible to set up a game plan thatāll fasttrack your way into an improved version of yourself in just a year or two.
Also proper construction will make things alot easier
i try to, but its hard when i don't get how they get that result
I suspect that studying artists who aren't as skilled might be better because their art might give away more of their methods.
Watch tutorials and stuff or ask people
well..if i am being honest everyone including me in class took art due to it being easy to get marks without studying..
Yeah like Eclid said, you could ask your fellow artists. You donāt have to feel like you have to push your way through the dark to find the answer. Trust me, I did that, and I donāt want another artist to suffer as I did. It wasnāt until about 2021 ish that I seriously sat down and tried to find out exactly what was wrong, asked ppl for advice, asked others to look over my pieces, constantly watched vids, read books, etc. The process then became easier and easier as time went on.
This is the result of just 2 years of me learning from 2021-2023 redrawing the same character.
woww
plus u could also draw while watching tutorials. iāve been doing that recently cause vids still make me fall asleep š
so why not multitask a bit
A good place to always start is to ignore colors for now and only focus on linework and creating characters using a solid foundation of sketching
loomis method, asaro head, riley methods. Bridgmann anatomy tutorials. Sinix Design, Excal Art Tips, and Proko are all good resources
This is how I learn to draw, having a clear picture of what to make helps a lot if you're just starting out
actually i haven't used colors since 2 years
Best advice is probably to just enjoy the process
thatās fine. just focus on other things. thatās the great thing about learning. you donāt have to follow a specific path.
one thing at a time, get good at that one thing. after you can do it from muscle memory, add a new thing. On average, learning one new thing takes around 1-2 weeks or so
my sketches range anywhere between an hour and 6 hours. it never gets easier, but knowing the why does help you fix a lot of things.
i get that you can take your own time to draw but the exam doesn't
oh yeah š¤
like in boards the time limit is 3hrs only
what does your exam want exactly?
Prob not as slow as me, I need a day or two just to finish a sketch
my boards is starting next week and i have art paper 1 (still life) on 22nd and art paper 2 (nature) on 24th
i am slow compared to others as there is a time to complete within
you could improve your speed at reading general form. Things that help with that is the āenvelopeā technique (probably on YouTube), or drawing in boxes, 60 sec practices on contours using gestures like on quickposes.com. Drawing by shoulder for broader strokes, while drawing with wrist for details helps a lot. Also different pen grips and even changing your hand position helps with creating better lines facing different directions. In general, having the ability to capture the general shape and form without any detail is a quick way to improve general speed.
then take the final results of your drawing, compare them against the reference, make quick notes on what feels different, diagnose the exact problem, repeat it, but with that problem corrected
quickposes my beloved
it might be possible to overcome your dilemma by a week
try doing blind gesture drawing too
now that, is a challenge in itself
you're actually training two skills when drawing, observation and drafting - blind gestures help by separating the two

i am generally told that i have a problem by getting into details too much than what is necessary even in conversations, but thats its not constant
This place is still artistic
these will be useful ill try some that to increase my speed and technique
yeah, tried that recently. not bad, but always comes out a bit more stiff than quickposes referencing. ah well, hopefully itāll get easier.
You have unlocked new role
ironically enough I get better results but not minding anatomy as much and focusing on the vibe
who me? wut.
I don't even know what that is but my brain gives me the good chemicals when it looks right
speaking of
neuro and her old pal One Stoner
Hi I'm just jumping in but good art
being focus on details isnt necesarily a bad thing, when it comes to art. but ill say this, youll find your good spot/amount of detail with time
sometimes you'll get burnout/spaced out but its fine. its okay to step away for a bit take a break go outside. it can help
there's something off about it but fuck it you get the idea it's trying to convey so that's good enough

...i say this as someone with a few unfinished works
a few and not an incomprehensible number? jealous
You want detailsā¦eventually. But it should be easier to work from big broad shapes to smaller details later. Change your perception to see only the larger shapes first, and the details will be much easier to include in the end.
oh there's actually quite a lot of new art neurons around
sorry i need to go before i get shouted at, i also need to get ready to attend an online class at 8, still i thank you all for your help
umm ok i will, i do try that but i just can't help it
is ok. thatās normal. Even managing to do it intentionally once within the next few days will make the process easier next time.
I studied color concepts that I didnāt even apply until months later, so I know how you feel, but just tell yourself actively in your mind to just draw in shapes as your drawing and erase immediately if youāre straying from that path.
and the process should feel more intuitive
what we had to do in class was use a 30 second timer, everytime it goes off you HAVE TO move on to the next drawing, forces you to develop shortcuts with shapes
it was also really frustrating and awful and I didn't like that class
I am drawing as a hobby so speed for me just comes from drawing alot
I used to take so much time drawing
Ah the good old days
my longest piece was like 40 hours with rendering and it wasnāt even that good. And then there are days I do 6 hour pieces that look better than anything Iāve made before.
Art is a funny thing.
I believe in you Night. Wish you the best of luck š
40 hours is lot holy, I just checked and the longest I have is 16 hrs
yeah 3 straight days of pain
and i was so dissatisfied with it in the end š
Can I see it? I'm curious now
maybe not now, cause iām too sad about it š
Aw, that is alot of dedication though, I would've already given up
i was trying to make a 3 part series for houseki no kuni but the third just did not turn out well at all
yeah. i donāt know what i was thinking at that time.
I think it was cause the first of the three became my best piece for a while, so I thought Iād repeat the process for two other characters, and each felt worse than the last.
I usually just give up from a certain point when I feel like I've done alot already and just complete the rest in very simple artstyle
yeah i get that feeling too
tho iāve worked around that recently by just reducing the time it takes for me to shade
so i study a lot on things to make my workflow more efficient
to get similar quality renders in less time
these days my average pieces are like 6-12 hours where as before they averaged like 25-30
The same as mine actually, i try new things every time I draw so I have a part where I study a specific thing in the illustration
Well except for the 25-30 hours part
Mmhmm. And the results of feeling like youāre applying new concepts is always nice too.
yeah, iāve always been a slow artist. Maybe I was too slow trying to fix things until they looked just right. These days, I focus more on the broader composition.
So even my line art is pretty messy now, as long as the final piece looks good.
I was slow in a type where I carefully place down a circle and then procrastinate for like 2 hours
I can now sit down for hours drawing though
Does anyone know any exercises to help with drawing? I seem to be unable to improve
What are you having problems on?
Cants seem to draw shapes
3D shapes?
Yes
Draw a Box teaches that exact thing
they have exercises on perspective and shapes
you only really need lesson 1
donāt need to do the other ones
the box and perspective lessons are enough
Thanks ill try this
Tesseract hologram :3
you made a 2d representation of a 3d version of a 4d object
you destroying my brain
All the dimensions are belong to me
it hurts my brain and I can't comprehend it
good work
also I'm sure this has to have already been done by someone in this fandom by now but I'm having fun so
He just yoinks Evil off screen
Looks great so far!
So artistic
I wanted to draw them over the spy family ending but I didn't know how to involve Evil in it so yoink
Hey, that's not half bad!
Are you using anything to get better? Or just practicing?
like, video guides on drawing
Rn I'm looking up pictures and trying to draw. I found the guy who taught the class at the anime con on YouTube and he has 300+ videos on how to draw. Just haven't had the time cos of work
Nice! Understandable
I think it depends on the style, but one thing I learned when I tried to get good at drawing anime style is that the forehead is comically big
Take that if it helps you
it's great for day 4 !
I need to remember for next time cos Neuro's head in this one looks a little short lol
Thank youuu!!
Yaya it's easy to forget when you're starting lol
I think I had one drawing when I was trying to get good with face shapes and It took me hours to figure why the hair wasnt hairing
LmA
Anyway Yaya it's pretty nice for day 4
Thank you everyone! I'm really trying to keep the momentum and motivation
you know what would be a fun way to practice art chat, a neuroverse themed game of garticphone
REAL
Oh that's cool, gl on it yo it's all about practice
How do you play? I've never heard of this?
it's basically art telephone
Ohh
there are lots of modes. though having a mic or vc isn't required. tho i agree
Oh yeah ik it just makes it funnier imo (I laugh when I hear people laughing)
I was in one fandom discord where the artists would get together regularly and play. That fandom became toxic but I miss how fun it was, hence why I bring it up in other discords now in the hopes it'll catch on in one lol
or the dread when you hear someone say "what " when it's time to read the prompts
I feel like a kid again
I recall a match when our prompts just turned into the most degenerate stuff I had ever had the misery of reading (I started it)
Eye is peak
Anyway I think imma go zzz but if the ideas catches on pls ping me lol
Cyall
goodnight
Tyy
IDK if it counts as art exactly, but Ive taken up decapping microchips with my laser lately and its cool to see all the nano structures that make up an IC :3
^Thats a chip for doing H.264 video encoding from a dead video camera
Maybe this is more a thing for the Programming channel though XD
I mean, art is subjective. this isn't the kind of art my brain can be wrapped around but it's super cool nonetheless
It's totally art. Reminds me of similar work by Elias Sime at the STL museum. Fascinating that from the macro scale all the way down to the micro, we get these abstract views that resemble aerial photos, but from manufactured technology.
ooooh I likey
wth this is awesome
is there a name for this style?
That nice
wow pretty cool
Did a hologram of an EPROM chip a while back it turned out pretty good :3
You can see the sparkle of the bare memory chip in the hologram
wow that looks dope
neat
That is awesome!
ty :3
im stuck on ideas for a character composition piece š« . hate when this happens. hour goes by just thinking of a good pose/backdrop and still canāt figure out a good piece idea.
are you having trouble choosing between options or having trouble coming up with any options you like
i scrapped a bunch of poses. itās an angel design of a friendās. trying to come up with a good composition.
Yeah that's fair
i have really bad days of ideas followed by good days. i hate that it comes in waves. my brain not braining today.
I bet you'll get it eventually, maybe you just need to take a break and come back with fresh eyes
sometimes the creative juices just need rest and refreshing
i thought about that, but i got a long work day tmrw so i wanted to work on it today. sigh maybe i should just play games or something.
u may be right
thanks š
Woah nice!!!
looks good. i think u were the one trying to learn pikazoās eye style right? maybe im misremembering
cutee
yeah i am
but i think should learn how to draw hair first
go for it!
š
cute Evil
yeah this is fine
aww, I love it!
YO, this where the music-makers?
Fucking based. I toss in the towel, thanks.
made in garageband
np lol
No fuck it, gotta start somewhere
How would you go about isolating one from the other with some kind of fade-in/fade-out in between transitions? Am I over thinking it and should just use pure mute on various parts, or is there a specific effect for smoothest possible transition?
i USED to mess around with the volume adjustment functions to make a sort of fade in, but
idrk tbh
Sorry i couldn't help
With Audacity? probably just layer a fade in and fade out on both tracks at the same time while muting the parts where only one is playing on the other track
Yeah that's what I tried earlier. It didn't turn out too great (1m 30-something seconds)
Well, then get a proper DAW (such as LMMS) and use something like automation to make a smoother fade in and fade out
Can't do much with pure Audacity
Is that a proprietary and professional piece of software?
Free and open source I believe, best DAW you're getting for free most likely
It's really good, I make stuff like this with it
Wait, but how tho
I just layer a bunch of effects onto a bunch of vocal tracks
Note, that is not based on the official Evil cover, it uses my RVC Evil V7 voice
The base was made before Evil even covered the song
What? It's just Ghost rule
It's beautiful
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3HD7J1mhDI
I was thinking Grinder, my bad.
Impossibly epic 10-hour version: https://youtu.be/s0iKB9E7EL0
You know that awesome track that played on the main menu that just never seemed long enough?
I fixed that.
The only other attempt I found was just another meh copy/paste job. I present you with a clean loop of that delicious riff for your grinding enjoyment...that didn't come out rig...
'mogus
Artists... I have a memory of Evil featured on a poster in BioShock/ Fallout fashion wearing a ww2 Armani outfit and being all suppressive. Am I hallucinating?
i hope not
Well, some sort of oppressive-govt-uniform, not with the actual insignias of that time.
Could be I hallucinated this, actually.
kirov reporting.
OH!!
Maybe I was thinking City17 posters-style?
Who did this?
ALSO
I am vindicated.
wow that looks great
I'll make my own then
yeahh
wow that's great
(can't really say, I don't know much about digital)
Next step. Evli looming over these two pictures with her arms out in a EVIL embrace.
You should repaint a kirov with evil's face on it
Evil, reporting.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FUQ
YESSSSSS
OKAY,... I need... I NEED someone to teach me photoshop RIGHT NOW.
And I need a profile-picture of the Evil-Plushieā¢
best way to learn is to play, just open photoshop and play around
I don't even have photoshop. I have Krita.
I don't even REMEMBR why I got Krita, 'cause I'm still using paint to do the mixing because Krita is being difficult.
Oh yeah.. I use Krita to make the white background transparent so it can embed without flashbanging people.
go to googo l GIMP DOWNLOAD
No, but thanks.
Make ship already has it transperant
Wait, isn't that portrait?
I need her from like an... 70-80 degree angle turned. So so can go on this:
all on makeship
after effects moment
man..i want that now..
I just realised: I do not know how to also STRETCH the faces so they're unnecessarily oblongated to fit the Kirov aesthetics. But the concept is GENIS.
maybe hue/saturation filter? Would require manual adjustment to hopefully kind of match, but that's all I got
yeahh way to go
Is improvement. Is still so many miles to go.
Also song ended WTF

Another neuro
I drew the pose completely from imagination so Iām pretty happy with it
HAHAHAHA
SHUDDUP it's SUPER F'ing cute!
I KNOW
'puter is set up and photoshop is up
