I learned a lot about making backgrounds (although I don't draw them much) with Bob Ross lol you can learn a lot just by watching him paint

He makes things that are far away less detailed, and he often makes the focal point in the centre, so the focal point has lighter colors and the corners have dark colors, so he creates a natural vignette effect

My personal recommendation would be to add zippers. Like comically large ones along the arms and probably one on the face mask itself. Saturated teal outlining to balance out the purples on the clothing as there is only one major source of it being hair. Maybe you can even get creative with the zipper design to look like those neon signs you see at clubs!

The hood-less is fine as is imo

But the jacket/hood needs to balance out the colors on the torso imo

A bit vague, but aight. I'll give the thing I know.
When it come to pencil sketching. You must know how to control the weight of the pencil on the paper.
If you already know that. then sketch you idea on notebook or something first to make visualize and transfer the subject you wanna draw easily.
Then add shading. draft the area you wanna shade first, like a boarder, then you gently shade every part that has shadow and shade first and then begin to add more weight as the value of shading area is deeper.
There's a trick on shading but if you want a fastest way to shade, I recommend using you finger to give a smudge shading.
Finally, adding texture and clean up you like. It don't have to be all perfect.

For the fastest way to draw form, anatomy or landscape. I don't actually know the fastest way to draw on these. The best tip I'll give you on these topic is find books on Archive.org or sketch the IRL stuff by using only your sight as your guide. The latter one might be a bit tedious but it will definitely make your hand more comfortable and easily visualize the subject you wanna draw on future.

If you're drawing an object, try focusing on the shape of it rather than any details. Create a rough shape of it. Then for shading, there's usually 4 parts to it.

• Core Shadow: The darkest part of the shadow.
• Cast Shadow: The shadow an object casts on another surface.
• Highlight: The brightest area directly hit by light.
• Reflected Light: A softer light that is reflecting from another surface.

Slowly build up tone, and have multiple values (3-4 at very minimum). As for how the type of shading, there's multiple ways to do it, like hatching, cross-hatching, smudging, stippling.
In general, like with sketching the object, don't focus too much on the shading and get the general outline of it first - then you can refine it more. Another thing to note, is to shade with the flow of the object. Like if the object curves, make the shading follow the curve as well - it helps give and define its shape. Also typically, you don't want to have contour lines visible (the ones that define the object) Try using shading to instead show where the objects contour would be

I have been overthinking her model... like the collar looking thing is actually part of her outfit and has zipper... but I noticed that it sometimes turns with head making it look like it would be separate lol

Yeah. I had a picture of her singing karaoke and one of her just staring at the camera and went from there. I need to practice her eyes and hair more.

But I am proud the hair looks sort of legit. I'm also glad people look at it and know it's Cerber. I used to draw things as a kid and people are like, umm nice! What is it?

it's based off this ship from multiverse, it uses the same pallet and tried to make it follow the same kinda general design schemes

it kinda is actually, more specific a goat, since the crew this is for is a demon horse, goats are like, associated with demons a lot and they are like, horse adjacent so it worked out quite well

hmm... my personal opinion is that it's fine to take liberties with fanart... as long you include something that makes a connection to what character you're drawing you can do them in vastly different styles, etc... also, it's good idea not to let people get under your skin and just listen to valid feedback

Thank youuuu yeah I'm trying to keep motivated and practicing. I've wanted to draw for years because the only art, if you call it that, I do is video.

I wanted to really try and do something real and make pictures.

That wasn't just photography

I love what I do but wanted to do more and not on the computer.

I had a photorealistic dream about taking up drawing and got so inspired that had over ten hour sessions just drawing something really basic XD then once I got over early hurdle where a lot of people give up trying to learn drawing it just started to feel fun

I had so much fun today drawing it. It's just a silly doodle but I still feel proud of it

I had a 40 minute class at an anime con yesterday and it got me into it yes. I doodled once or twice but never seriously.

hmm... wanting to use physical medium because then you aren't working on your computer is something plenty of people like... I mean separation from work to outside work... while there are some people who it doesn't really matter and just use the same computer for work and outside of it

had no clue they have drawing teaching sessions in such places... but it makes sense... personally I'm pretty much self learned artist

Yeah it was a manga artist who was teaching to a room of people and I followed along. It was really helpful to get me started and learn the basics. Now I'm trying to keep the momentum and keep drawing when I can.

one really helpful thing is to observe art and focus to various details... building kind of visual library as they call it... then trying to draw something by using those cool details I suppose... personally though I'm kind of unorganized learner lol... like I just get interested of trying to improve specific detail so I just make that learning part of my newest drawing for example

anyway... I hope you stick with learning as it pay dividends with persistence
