not sure if that is required for some of the mechanics of the game, but as far as I know usually (both for gameplay experience and visual clarity) you would want to give immediate feedback about the player's actions

I updated my game, https://etrotta.itch.io/neuro-game-jam-alpha - it has multiple levels and some in-game explanations now, up from the previous build just for testing the mechanics in a single level
I might add some more levels if I get inspiration, fix any bugs that show up until the cutoff date, or explain the controls better based on feedback, but it should be like 90% done now

turns out the reason why vedal took her memory is because he is growing too attached to her and tried to make her less herself to distance himself. Vedal regrets doing it and now everyone is happy

I don't have much xp so I think I can finish a part by day 1 but I just end up fixing bugs and implementing a mechanic
I fricking wish, I had a passing thought to make it procedurally generated but figured out it'd be way too much effort for a three day jam
but no procedural generation means actual level design which comes with its own benefits
Till now I just have main mechanics and no game cycle / sounds / animations
i made the general gameplay stuff work (walking, pickup, minigames, dialog, and such) and now im slowly adding extra stuff and more textures
I'd say game mechanics and getting the engine working how you'd expect it to. (unity L moment)
After that game loop and then fixing up any temp assets.
I get that, I think that's why you need to have very simple mechanics - so you can have the mechanics working as quickly as possible and then you can start adding content. BUT, don't worry too much if you're just done with mechanics. Do your best, jam games don't have to be perfect, they have to be A) mostly functional and B) Fun!!!

Ah rip. With godot system errors if I don't know where the error is coming from I just copy paste everything into a new project editor and see if that works. Not necessarily starting over
open the scene file in a text editor and search for that string.
Unless you explicitly set it to binary, that should be a way to fix it. I had a similar error once when I was migrating something from 3 to 4.

i may be be stupid but how do i run this animation in unity using a c# script
That's a controller if you open the controller panel you can see how all your animations transition between each other, you can add animations by right clicking (Create State > From Selected Clip (your animation clip)). You can make certain animations play on based on particular parameters you create in your animator.
You can trigger animations in code by setting triggers or other parameters
This has gone well so probably but there's been no official discussion on it so far

If you have an idle anim for example and a walk anim on that controller, you can click on the arrow transition between them and set it to switch to walk when a parameter Walking is true and vice versa
Then in the code, whenever w is pressed down, you can do Animator.SetBool("Walking", true) and otherwise false or something

When anything to do with sniffs (crying or sick, or actually sniffing) then the entire chat fills with SNIFFA for a few seconds
99% of chat is just emotes
If there's anything to do with subs, donations, or just corporate talk in general the entire chat fills with Corpa Clap
also add a random "EvilCry forgotten child EvilCry forgotten child EvilCry forgotten child EvilCry forgotten child" in there
and once every like half a minute an actual question gets asked toward neuro

game balancing? never heard of it
The practical experience is that mileage varies, for Godot GDScript was a better fit than visual scripting for the people who were asking for visual scripting.
Other than that, I believe Unreal, but that is also not a beginner friendly engine.
I'm 90% done with the polish. I did most of that before content.

At worst, I learned how to properly limit a 2D camera in godot.
So it never goes outside the actual playable area.
I learned how to make collision without using box2d or some fancy physics library:^)
gamejam tought me Astar for 2D ennemy tracking
as well as polishing up my knowledge on state machines
i learned how important timing is for being able to code something within a timeframe without it affecting a work or sleep schedule and that didn't really line up for me on this 🙂
