oh btw, I trained an esrgan model to downscale images to be more pixelated than nearest neighbour

Same image but nearest neighbour. there are lines that get disconnected

if you have chaiNNer with pytorch installed you can use this to downscale images (just note that the model only does 25% downscaling)

the online tools I have seen either use some edge finding algorithms to vectorize the image before downscaling it or "pixelate" it by forcefully applying a palette

there one other pixelation ai, but it's not esrgan so you need to download specifically their script to run it. mine is esrgan with the only caveat being you need to overlay the tile mask or you won't get good results. esrgan is good because so many AI tools allow you to run it (like even a1111's sd-web-ui has esrgan support)

I would add a black center, a light circle around it (to show the extruded area around the hole), and then a darker middle area, and a lighter outer area around the teeth to show the depth of the gear and how it widens back out around the teeth.

Maybe with some spoke-like branches out from the center.

I have to say, usually I don't like canvas because it always end up with a country flags war, I'm glad to have a "flags are cringe" in the unspoken rules, it makes the canvas much more enjoyable
