The game performs great on my new gpu, so ive been having some fun with it lately

opaque wharf
#

I forgot if it was fork of Gitcog or some other, but it was definitely an alternative at the times

silent cloak
#

not too great for me (unreal engine) but it never let that stop me

olive sable
silent cloak

i have some mods to fix some junk

#

though i cant fix the floating point issues with the engine

some placement and daisy chaining stuff

olive sable
#

In terms of gpu its not even pushing it to the full 355W for some reason.
I get 300W at most.
On cpu it seems to be doing 45% usage on every single core.
Satisfactory seems te be pretty multithreaded

silent cloak
#

most of my issues are graphics related

#

most are due to the engine and some of the coordinates

olive sable
#

Ye its not too optimized

silent cloak
#

ill still play it over factorio

olive sable
#

Altho for an unreal game its not that bad

I wonder what their graphics stack looks like

we should host a satisfactory server sometime

#

In ultra iirc

silent cloak
#

i get barely anything in my main turbofuel factory on my last playthrough

olive sable
silent cloak
#

but its also next to a massive factory that goes really high in the sky

olive sable
#

That would explain it

silent cloak
#

well the turbofuel farm is massive too

#

it has a train station in it due to the requirements

olive sable
#

Im curious what the bottleneck is for me. It is technically using 99% gpu, but leaves 50W on the table

#

I didnt undervolt it or anything so Shruge

but that's just a guess

opaque wharf
#

That way I could get away with lowest tier vps

#

The VPS would be shared with other service too

silent cloak
#

i store with a local server for a reason

opaque wharf
opaque sigil
#

storage is usually separate no?

#

i guess the vps comes with its own bit of storage already

opaque wharf
#

This VPS has storage included in the bills

#

And the storage depends on the tier

silent cloak
#

i always use dedis and vps for hosting the general software and have it link to my local servers for storage

#

lets me bypass all that

#

also kind of gives me a proxy in a way too

opaque wharf
#

That's why I am looking for a way to host the actual files elsewhere where the storage can grow and not limited by the tier

opaque wharf
#

But I want to have 3-2-1 backup so I can pass on those liability and ease of restore to the provider

opaque sigil
#

now that i think about it

#

rclone should be able to take care of this

#

fuse glueless

If you want to try reproducing it, click on the icon in the upper left corner, then the icon on the far right. After that, there will be three buttons with ⬇️ symbol on them, when you click any of them, a game will be downloaded. When you click the game's icon, the game will not work. Afterwards, if you restart and scroll down to "blobicon" or "pongicon" in the sprites section (right, right below the window where you can see the game) and click on the show icon (under sprite's name) - both games work normally

So those 10Gb may only be used for the first few minutes

given that your nic is dual 40GbE shared bandwidth you could do 14 ports 40GbE on a basic B series board if it supports bifurcation

theoretically, if you just do shared bandwidth switch as long as 2 ports can be saturated at a time, you can do PCIe switch and connect endless amount of nics

I want a fully functional OS with little effort but also don't want to give microsoft any money

There are no reasons to use Windows over Linux outside of Adobe software which is a scam and some other scams
Basically if you like being scammed then use Windows, otherwise use Linux

topaz tendon

If you want little effort, I can recommend CachyOS. That's the distro that seems to have finally pushed me off of Windows after trying out Linux for multiple years before and switching back due to certain issues.

General usage wise I really don't have much to say since everything works just fine. Can browse my home server via SMB just fine, nothing about web browsing is broken.
One thing I can say is that working with multiple monitor seems to work... better than Windows. On Windows I often had to deal with issues where video playback on my second monitor would slow down depending on things I do on my primary monitor, from web browsing to gaming. Yet on Linux - at least on KDE Plasma on Wayland - there's no such nonsense. I almost took for granted how shit Windows was in this regard.

10.123.0.0/16 dev tun0 proto kernel scope link src 10.123.0.2

  • idk why i not specify 10.123.0.1 here but it works, it getting route back
-# (also that kind of happens automatically, i only do tun setup and assign address)

flint dome
warped narwhal

When you give an interface an IP in Linux, Linux will create a route for all IPS the interface can reach

glass jetty
#

like what a deal? you just want it to be default instead of 2 networks with /1 submask?

warped narwhal
#

so if Linux is creating the route 10.123.0.0/16, then the tun0 interface has the IP 10.123.0.2/16
