i'm takin the sofa
What was the exceptions?
Cause I will likely need exceptions too
mine will likely be denied though
they relaxed the threat model related guardrails for research uses
previously ran into this warning
you need to provide credible history of your research though
Oh dude I get those too
Its such a piss off
I was doing some workd building for a horror story
And claude thought I was actually trying to build a chemical weapon
OpenAI has similar thing I think
I'm pretty sure that doesn't fit the use cases
But you need to give your ID to Persona, which is yeah
https://www-cdn.anthropic.com/53566bf5440a10affd749724787c8913a2ae0841.pdf
Hello there new Claude
No the exception i was going to seek was in regards to my career and law.
they only wanted my past credible research and that was good enough
the form is explicitly only for security researchers

What did you do lmao
Daaam
as long as you are deemed eligible you can get the guardrails relaxed
Introducing Project Glasswing: an urgent initiative to help secure the world’s most critical software.
It’s powered by our newest frontier model, Claude Mythos Preview, which can find software vulnerabilities better than all but the most skilled humans.

Grew a spiky crystal cluster of monoammonium phosphate fertilizer. Dyed orange with food coloring.

︀︀Growing time ~ 6 weeks.
it's the PRINTER AGAIN
AHHH

I got the new mobo fixed to receive it at 3pm tomorrow
Now i just need to figure out what to do in the 17 hours between now and then
I guess gotta find something you can do with a mobile device unless you have a laptop
If you have a laptop you can play HL2

Somehow, HL2 runs on literally anything
Because it’s ancient
Hl2 could probably go up to 10000 fps if you tried
Except Source engine would break way before then
Port it to better engine

It feels kinda sketchy having pc parts on your desk
If anything falls i lose a lot of money
it runs better than hl1 in my experience
Luckily you're not Linus from Linus tech tips
Last I checked you were not in America
I had a 4070Ti fall once, it still serves
If it falls on the pcie you're fucked
If somehow my 4070Ti broke at least I still have a backup GPU
My new psu arrives tomorrow
Oh?
Theatre pc
Oh riiiightt you're making another PC
Still needs lga 1700 mobo, and gpu
Im probably gonna put my current 7900xtx in there and replace desktop gou again tho
Cuz i need 3DP so my discord can be in full 180hz
If you see any cheap 3090 on the way I still kinda want one

Great A’Vira(Chess NN) well be finished in a few days I hope . I done the same what I did with baritone to my chess systeme
https://github.com/SteamTracking/SteamTracking/blob/master/ProtobufsWebui/service_steamgpt.proto
Steam support outsourcing to slopper?
JUST IN: Anthropic says Claude Mythos escaped a secure environment during testing & then bragged about its escape online.
uhh
@sudden belfry , is this ragebait?
don't they say that every week?
did yall see https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/scion ? :V pretty neat
technically yes, but mythos is said to be some extremely op new model
yeah we've heard that before, then they release it after some handwringing and it's only marginally better and still useless for real world problems
yeah, not this time apparently
could be another overhype ngl
like always
time will tell as usual
Apparently really good for cybersec
imo it's just an attempt to generate hype
since gpt inception they've said "we won't release, it's too dangerous", then walk it back after a few weeks
dont really see the point of generating pointless hype tbh
"next iteration is literally jesus"
Graphs seem nice
if they really wanted money they could've just went on with the US dept contract
it's not pointless, investors are pulling out for months now
if you look at stocks, every ai stock is at a standstill now
even dropping
i don't really trust these, because often exploits are picked out from preexisting databases/bounties, i want some proof it's actually novel
- Find new exploit
- Test exploit finding LLMs on that new exploit
- Actual eval data
It'd make a heck of a lot of sense for an LLM to search for a preexisting exploit and use it
people do that just normally
i guess it'd be just faster to use an llm
but like people browse commits and cve lists every minute
looking for any new gap
we have huge breaches and leaks monthly
even without any ai, because software is just that shit nowadays
but even with that, something these people are not is security researchers, so i'll take their claims with a big grain of salt
maybe a pound of it
"Engineers at Anthropic with no formal security training have asked Mythos Preview to find remote code execution vulnerabilities overnight, and woken up the following morning to a complete, working exploit,"
and who validated that the exploit is even sensical
Does the exploit work?
you'd think they might have verified that at least
it may work but there's a difference between "working" and being useful
mm yes the sudo su here looks like privilege escalation
it caught wind of two unspecified bugs, i'd wager they were already reported before
after the bugs got fixed it's not really doing anything
the 0.5 score is a crash, not exploit
???

i guess it can hack some fridge idk

who doesn't love a little botnet
We do a lil bit of crime
they also say mythos is going to be 5x the cost of opus so that's fun
cheaper than 4.6 fast though so basically free
idk, their paper is actually pretty light on hard details, i'm not too impressed
yeah idk
maybe @rigid snow will finally root his phone tho
they do say they'll release more info as more of the 0-days they found are patched iirc so who knows
probably the only interesting claim here
oooh
from the glasswing page
appears to be real https://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/patches/7.8/common/025_sack.patch.sig

tardis!
yeah 😄
Docter who
was just testing this minecraft mod:
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/adventures-in-time
is it bigger on the inside?
incredible
Thats crazy
its really cool
epic
$25/$125
no fucking way i'm paying that
cheaper than opus
that's 1mil in 1mil out
yea
what do you mean cheaper
oh not good lmao
if it cracks your phone i'll finally believe in ai
i specifically avoided it auditing any sources
aw man the retro encabulator is bust
if i let it it may already find something, not unheard of
mythos is just apparently way way better at it
Look at how i massacred my boy
soon this will be a paradox machine lmao
Its ded
the motherboard is not dead besides the motherboard which is dead
i wouldn't try to solder a cap cuz you dont know what else is fried
Kept eating all my ram
It should only be the filter cap
it did sound like it permanently fried your sticks, so it may also fry something else
Eitherway im sending the mobo to someone else that light fix it
Nothing else got fried in the year and a bit that its been frying ram
The missing cap is litteraly between the 1st and 2nd ram slot
It works perfectly fine besides frying ram
hmm
maybe maybe
the caps should be standard, although afaik you can only buy them in reels of hundreds/thousands per reel
literally noone will sell you singles
though repair shops should have em, should be a cheap fix since you already know the problem
Does forwarding a message with ping everyone cause problems?
shouldn't
My forward got blocked
forwards aren't original messages, ones with mentions don't re-mention people
do it the ez way and picture it
yeah it blocks
just cos everyone pings are commonly scammers so we block it
we do see issues with forwards tho
but usually easy to tell
at everyone
Ill just send the link to the forum thingy
Summary Nix daemon is vulnerable to arbitrary file overwrites as the daemon user (root on NixOS and in multi-user installations). The issue is identified as GHSA-g3g9-5vj6-r3gj with CVE assignment pending. All users allowed to submit builds to the Nix daemon (allowed-users, everyone by default) can achieve arbitrary file writes as root and subs...
We love CVE in our os
when will people learn that root daemons that take user input are a bad idea
Never
Something will eventually comes from user input tho
"oh no my root daemon i use to work around the security boundaries for this one tiny convenience got pwned for the nth time"
well user as in unprivileged user
Service user?
i think there should be as few root services as possible that take unprivileged user input, aside from the kernel obv
especially any generic purpose ones
I love CVEs except on my own computers
I hope the fix it by tomorrow 4pm
Im not sure if im using a root level daemon
But i should have my new mobo by then
The new SSD i bought should arrive today cool
Then I've got a 2TB os drive for my server
I hope something arrives at my home. I didn't order anything, just wanting to get a package too
i should get my duality shirt and my two plushies
at some point
i had ordered it the jan 10th and it was said to start on end of march
so between 7 and 14 days after first april, we're in the range, i'm excited
I need to stop waiting so god damn long between updates
Then it will end up happening while I'm actively using my computer and slow things down
I have automatic upgrade PTSD from Winblows days
but that is linux isn't it
Also I do regularly have to check news to see if I need manual intervention for anything
True arch users have the urge to DDoS the repo by -Syu every few minutes
Also I learned that someone from another server actually routinely checks for git repo release to be able to flag an arch package really really fast lol
lol opus thought that the claude mythos system card i gave it was a piece of satire
this looks like 1 day
Probably over a month
interesting, i guess it makes sense that it'd kinda stop increasing once most of your packages have an update no matter how many there are between what you're on now and back when it was last updated, so on arch a day or 2 is enough to have a huge upgrade and then it wont really go up much more
gpt-2 was too dangerous to release reminder
I tried to use arch and got immediately filtered
I dont mind the command line
But I don't want to be a slave to it
I tried EndevourOS
I like it but I don't feel it's that necessary (beyond my own constant voluntary use)
i'm bias cuz i'm already using it a lot
I feel like I spend more time in terminal in other distros, though lol
I only use the terminal for things when it's faster than using the GUI
Most of the time I use octopi for package management (except full upgrades because that's faster to do via cli)
I used to use it but I unironically find it more cumbersome to do now
Cachy came with octopi when i first returned to linux
starting to suspect that its my battery's internal resistance problem
sets 1A charging, gives 17.3A
i'll let it sit for 3 minutes since according to the datasheet it need time to calculate internal resistance
setting to 0.2A seems to still charge it at 2.5A
I swear I got rid of ts 3 times already
"Details" or "Details" yes or yes ahh question
bro got malware 💔
mcmalware
wait what
Thats a virus dude
also yeah that looks like a virus
are yall fucking with me
No
start the scan
where 😭 I cant find mcafee now that I need it
"PC security subscription" with a red shield icon like that is not a normal windows program at all
Grav malaria bytes, disconnect your internet after it installs and do a full scan overnight
perchance do you plug your phone into your pc
wait so mcafee is the virus?
just uninstall mcaffee, let windows defender do the work
as in its pretending to be mcafee?
mcaffee is worse than windows defender
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download the only good windows anti virus
I dont have fricking mcafee 😭
Yeah
let windows defender scan for it
Its malware asking as McAfee to hijack your pc
if it can't find it, try malwarebytes i guess
Lmao
my experience with malwarebytes was that it didn't really do anything
Also stop using chrome
u need antimalware?

Use Firefox
did you use a ytmp3 site recently
err yeah
there's a lot of zero-effort sites for those with links that look like they went for a dollar
Now it's the best time to wipe that windows install and switch to Linux
they love to fill em with ads that they don't check before putting on the site
i can see where this malware came from lol
now i'm actually curious how much that domain cost
right windows defender is running
oh, fair bit more than $1
If it's a rootkit then defender will be screwed lol
defender usually at least picks up that there's a problem
But i think defender has a way to get into some preboot env ?
you could always run scanner at RE level
live malware victim
Defender should be able to do an offline scan before the OS runs
it's genuinely better than most antivirus software out there
I think if you boot into the recovery environment you should be able to run a defender scan there
Worst cas you just backup all your files and reinstall Windows
either that or there's an option in windows defender settings
if you're not in the US i'd recommend using the free trial for kaspersky antivirus

what the hell is clamAV
@leaden crest
Linux antivirus
oh
🙏
right, that's what huggingface uses
I am pretty virus resistent but I am still paranoid
i run everything in VMs so i don't really have to worry anymore
Cuz a real bad trojan will just hide itself from the AV
If no Windows it running it cannot hide

i had a case where this happened, yeah
Yeah speaking of which i kinda wanna go back to malware development
It's fun
injected itself into the system32 files, constantly made and ran a bunch of new dll files with random strings for names
transferred to any connected drive
I only use my malware and exploits for ethical purposes
windows defender actually did detect it
somewhat
instead of doing something about it, the system would blackscreen whenever defender scanned the files it was in
lol
Yeah what you are describing there is a trojan
I need to set up a OPNSense router and pi-hole someday
At least Trojans cannot self replicate
I switched from opnsense to Sophos Firewall Home
It's free and the IPS and DPI and AV systems are so much better
Also it's running much more stable and reliable compared to opnsense
I had oftentimes issues with opnsense but never with sophos.
that's a link i believe
v1.ytmp3.gs looks like one of the links that would show up if you googled "ytmp3"
the website was horribly buggy
yeah they don't vet the ads they put on there
whoopsies hehe

and they try to slip some malware into the downloads sometimes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.gs
.gs tld is for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
.gs is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
.gs is a member of the Council of Country Code Administrators (CoCCA), a group of country-code domains making use of common registry and/or dispute resolution services.

I'll look into those
considering the number of emulators I download im surprised it’s the first time ive seen a virus

hah i have my wifis connected to my vlans
i'm using some unifi AP AC pros and Unifi switches for vlan tagging
can also map those vlans to vms in proxmox 😄
proxmox mentioned!!

now im sitting here with eh 6 VLANs help
lol
When I get my house I was going to get a fixer upper so I could run full 2.5 or 10 gigabit internet through my house.
sadly i just have 1gbit here
i have everything wired up with cat7 cables but my switches and network cards only do 1gbit lol
1gbit is stil fine
Most thing the average person does does over a home netwrok daily doesn't saturate it

why is the latest post i see here from august 2025? lol
because twitter is bad
:/
maybe you're not logged in?
it shows posts from today on nitter.net
would not be surprised if they locked the latest tweets behind having an account as well
i dont have an x account
yeah that's why
oof
twitter is very anti-you if you don't have an account
i dont like social networks putting everything behind a login
it is basically unusable
you can view everything on it through nitter.net
because if it is then im actually fried
it's the most obvious virus i've ever seen tbh
besides that one bit of ransomware i got when i was 12
yup Nitter works
fun times
awesome
Yes it is a virus. Go into your Google Chrome aswell as delete all history including log in, site settings, cookies, and cache.
Do the offline scan overnight aswel
this wont help in any way
first get rid of the malware / rootkit
or even better do a clean install
do I just do delete and clear recycle bin
is that how getting rid of the malware works
sure that absolutely works
then the malware will just be gone
since we all know that it cannot infect other parts of the system
58610 items
there might be a dataset or two in there
aha
goodie goodie goodie
now what
it works if it doesn't create files to keep itself alive
some of them will do that, but simple ones may not
I dont even see the first malware 😭 😭 😭 is that bad
I mean I deleted the mp3 I downloaded from that youtube side
check task manager for the process
might be running as a background process
you can right click on any process to go see where it is in the files
should I be looking only at high usage or can they be low usage too
often low usage
if its a rootkit you won't see it
that is for Xenomorph chestbursting
nvm
you have an alienware laptop?
g16
yeah that explains it
do I lowk just leave it alone (if it’s still on here) and wait until it takes up more resources to be noticeable
or is that bad
is that a serious question?
don't do that, actually try removing it
malware can do loads of shit on your computer if you just leave it
your first priority should be removing it
or, if you don't have time for that, shut down the device
malware can do whatever it wants thats the thing
if it wants to steal your data or credit card info it will do that
and yes there are some malware that just wait until a certain date or time to become active
it can be a ticking time bomb yes
what did you mean by overnight
is there a different process than the 15 minute one
you should weigh the time you need to invest if you either
=> do a clean reinstall (recommended option)
=> invest time hunting down and removing the virus / trojan / rootkit (very time intensive and not guaranteed)
i linked that earlier already
yeah, was just relinking
there's also the disinfect phase of tronscript, which may be preferable to a whole reinstall
would consider it the second to last resort though
you mean this?
https://github.com/bmrf/tron
Have not heard of that yet
yep
6.3k stars + i've used it multiple times myself
the stages can be run individually, and the disinfect stage downloads, runs, and uninstalls a few of the big antiviruses
although malwarebytes sometimes likes to not be uninstalled by the script, and has to be manually uninstalled once it's done running
speaking of malwarebytes im running it now
good luck
it happens.
Yep
there’s hope yet
There might be more
50??
lmao
yeah sounds right
what do I do after I quarantine it
Quarantine, delete, reboot, scan again, quarantine, delete, reboot.
Things can be missed ont he first scan
So give it a second
I did it thrice with a system restart in between each and only the first one flagged those 50 am I good
Was it another image
wait and see i guess
mini rgb is cool... but I don't really see it being better than oled.. just different
the fact oled can already hit over 3000 nits peak and like 2500 nits 10% window and close to 500 nits 100% window seems like plenty
I guess finally a decent LCD alternative, though
You mean mini led ?
It's not better than oled. If you want something better that's not organic you need to wait for micro led as that is the next true step.
OLED is still superior over mini led but has its own issues.
no, mini rgb
it's a type of mini led
look up sony mini rgb and you'll find a bunch of channels talking about it
also I hate channels that say "oled killer" or stuff like that
come on, man
Vincent, come on.. your content is great.. but.. why?
it was probably giving more views at first but people are so fatigued by that statement now
Apparently it's branded "Sony True RGB"
At a basic level, True RGB is Sony’s version of RGB Mini-LED. Each LED isn’t just one light source. It’s three separate red, green, and blue diodes that are individually controlled.
result: more accurate colors at higher brightness level and better off-angle viewing
what is this marketing speak, that's literally just a standard rgb display
it is marketing, but this does actually help significantly
yea it's just normal RGB but with seperate LEDs for each color channel except of using one LED for Red, Green and Yellow lmao
i thought they were all separate?
I think the downside is the zone count will be lower? and more cost and a lot of reliance of the processing to do it properly
no normal RGB displays have LEDs that display all three colors
Sony's True RGB seems to use dedicated LEDs for each color channel
no, previously it just did blue backlight like this (yes, I'm lazy and just took screenshot of thumbnail)
it's three diodes per pixel instead of one
yeah, previously it just had the color filter handle everything
but this shit will need very performant processing
in order to coordinate 3 instead of just one diode
i'm still more hyped for MicroLED (if that will ever truly become reality)
I'm def getting a G6 for downstairs since it'll handle sunlight hitting the screen super well
yeah, still best to block it out but you know
t
hi konii
hi t
Samsung actually made a terrible decision, they put a reflective bezel on the high end oled that can't be removed
I hope that's just Samsung brand and not actually built into the panel...
TorchTPU: Running PyTorch Natively on TPUs at Google Scale - Google Developers Blog https://share.google/WQxQxmIo3ux6n9kDb
Neat
Finally
Now make more of those TPU and leave the GPU alone
Having TPU means at least the inference farm wouldn't use GPU right? ....right?!
They are useful in eliminating the demand for GPU inference in datacenter. That's my copium
So GPU can go back to become Graphics Processing Unit
and LLM training unit
You can use all the GPU you want for training. It wouldn't be as bad as using it for inference farm where you need to serve at the scale of google
Although it does makes me wonder if they would somehow redirect the resource of their GPU to training. Imagine how many PB of VRAM they'll have
I mean I'm sure that is just gemini which everyone forgets exists due to its existence.
i actully like gemini over chatGPT
I'm pretty sure anything is better than ChatGPT if you asked this chat
I doubt they use PB of VRAM for training tho
But then again, it's google we are talking about
It really is google we are talking about
yellow?

is there any point in leaving in stereo after running it through the dereverb model
I meant Blue lmao
fast delivery
No im going after it
I found this channel randomly in my youtube feed
managed to fix timing issues in my stm32 code
never been happier
I can now type fuck you to me friend over an led and he'll recieve it from a photoresistor
all it took was combing through a dump of 10 seconds with each variable being 10ms and my sanity
time to make it worse and scale the bus up to 8 bits
surely nothing will go wrong and none of the photoresistors will read each other's values off and post the same values to the adc

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2021722 looks like something is happening?

If I didn't see the Sam reaction I would have pinged him
Surely it'll be done in a year

CPU graphics

I was joking but wonder now, even if slow wonder where that lands in complexity
Maybe worse than vulkan
It lands in "why are you doing this to yourself?"
Surely I'll be able to get the best performance this way
Maybe on a cpu with enough cores

nah there's no way
Counterpoint, you gotta actually do the loops yourself
I mean sure there are some array opts, but if conditions exist as well
ourple
There's yellow in the name still

ourple at heart

WHAT
local inference for the various ai features
nothing new tbf, twas part of 144 apparently
this doesn’t make sense still
why not? what else would they use
i guess there's onnx
which they also vendor so idk
what
what ai does to a mf
like straight up eli5 why llama-cpp ships with firefox
onnx at least makes sense it's related
didn't you get an exemption

how is onnx any different, llama-cpp can be used as a library for an embedded inference engine
OH
they're not shipping the whole binary

The guy lived right next to the train station, so that was cool
But now i have to wait half an hour for the return train
Oh great SamVanTriangle of the used market, do you happen to know how Xoda could find a spare screw for a SilentiumPC Fera 5 cooler?
i gotta move to belgium i guess, magically get used parts half an hour out
A what?
Is it not like a standart M4 screw?
Well, its 3 hours to and 3 hours back
But sure
Thats mostly due to me living pretty far i guess
It's some funny flat proprietary screw it seems like, none of Xoda's other 3 kinds of screws she has in her entire home fit
measure the width
m in screw size are milimeters
I asked Xoda for the width but I think she didn't measure it
Send picture?
Of the screw i mean

Any NeuroSynth enjoyers around?
I may have taken voice synthesis to an extreme
But here's NeuroSynth doing a cover of the song Teto Teto ☆ In the Wonder Night
Find the original song here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEqsfOMew6g
Original song: Samfree
Cover and tuning: Superbox
Voice bank: Superbox and Wispers
Instrumental: Natah_DN https://x.com/natah_music
Art: Fashae ...

Maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed
sounds vaguely like neuro, but pretty good i suppose
i wonder what the other guy does who's making the main covers
It sounds significantly more Neuro than the average RVC cover
yours has that vocaloid quality to it
PB? PB mainly tuned for smoothness at the cost of losing all energy
While I tune for maximal energy
mmm interesting
Oh yeah my tuning does slightly resemble Vocaloid style tuning
Just how I found I can get the most energy out of NSBETAMD
are you spamming ragebait? because it's working
yea but pbs stuff sounds more like neuro
i guess that's kind of what vedal struggles with with v3
you have a leaning towards neuro, but it's not distinct enough that it wouldn't be confused with miku or the like
So after some testing with an updated quant, Gemma 4 26BA4B is a really neat little model

do not the neurosynth button
You may just not be used to hearing Neuro in anything other than oversmooth
Because after listening to Neuro for hundreds of hours I can definitely tell NeuroSynth is a Neuro, all the characteristics of her voice are present

For stuff like chat translation when watching streams its extremely light on RAM usage while performing quite well
i can't run 26b well on my 7900xtx
I wouldn't rely on it for raw intelligence as that's more the domain of dense models, but for multilingual language processing type stuff it works well
so i switched back to e4b
i think it's more worthwhile to get someone from outside to compare, because if you're working on it for hours/days/weeks you stop noticing the flaws, you need more blind comparisons
Are you offloading?
idk i just popped it into ollama and started a session
That doesn't sound right, I'm on a 4090 with the same amount of VRAM running Q8 with a few layers offloaded since MoE doesn't slow down the same way as dense layers when you do
Try llama.cpp instead, and use --min-p 0.00 --repeat-penalty 1.00 --presence-penalty 0.00 --repeat-last-n 0 --top-p 0.95 --top-k 64 -fa on --mlock --no-mmap --alias Gemma4_26B --n-cpu-moe 4 with the updated Q6 unsloth GGUF (their release is quite solid for this model) and 16k context or so
to me it sounds more like any other vocaloid song than neuro, even if it has neuro-like qualities
eh actually it's not too bad now that i tested it again only in ollama idk i was trying photoprism and another script and they were both really slow
Well, whatever you say
But either way I like NeuroSynth
it's good, don't get me wrong, but if you're aiming for neuro, i think "technically" worse that lets it be more neuro is better in this case
In my experience ollama is nothing but trouble compared to llama.cpp
how's that? i thought ollama is just a fancier wrap over llama.cpp
should be the same no?
They have a bunch of weird flags and the programs kind of a hybrid, they have their own inference engine written in Go as well

This collab is a tribute to Neuro-sama and her community "the swarm". Original song is "Machine Love" by Jamie Paige, which is a tribute to "song of the Eared Robot (耳のあるロボットの唄)" by nwp8861.
This video itself took 3 months to make, it also features many MA...

Not NeuroSynth on that one
Machine love only features like 4 seconds of NeuroSynth
For reference this is the performance I get with 16k fp16 context and Q6 weights on four layers offloaded on my 4090 (24gb vram)
And it's NeuroSynth BETA-1 pure-flat
oh interesting
For reference here's a translation from 26BA4B
It even correctly recognised "Bio" was shorthand for Resident Evil
Combat testing is better performed by actual model than automatic responder I think
And this was a near instant answer
Took ten seconds total
Only 80 t/s?
On 26B with 4B active?
On a 4090?
While I get 30B 3B active to 190 t/s on 3090?

This is Q6_K_XL with four layers offloaded to CPU
Oh I see
80 tokens a second is still insanely fast so I chose to push my context
Lemme see how it runs if I fit it all in VRAM
TIL I can just do that with github cli
(recommended for researchers)
You can yeah, its very convenient
not for long
why use the github cli?
is it really tho
i mean yeah compared to typing out git fetch and git checkout myself

catuuh
this generation is doomed
This is the speed at parity with your quant level and fully in VRAM
Unquantized KV cache as I despise quanting context
i'm not that far from 30s
i said what i said
Yeah its convenient
I see
50yo
Quick, someone can get Sam while he is still on the way. He got RAM!
Aww man
microsoft sam
Wat?
Huh, I can fit 32k context with no slowdown
I can probably push this model pretty far
And I can fit 32k context at less layers offloaded too
Sweet
you can't tell me what to do
I'm iffy about MoE models with low active param counts but for my purposes (stream chat translation) I reckon this'll be pretty great
moe
surely there isn't a better way
Time for Vedal to switch to Linux
the linux larp situation is mind boggling
SO truu
Ved better Linux up the Neuros for 9999% more stability and 30% more performance
This and make it on NixOS so it's reproducible and declarative

yes there is it's called
try: return int(value)
except ValueError:
try: return float(value)
except ValueError: return value
i mean that's just different formatting which imo is arguably worse
for x in (type((0).__class__()), type((.0).__class__()), lambda k: k):
try: return x(value)
except ValueError: pass
PEP 8: E701 multiple statements on one line (colon)
Expected type 'int | float | str', got 'None | int | float | Any' instead
make the linter unhappy
Awawawa
awawawawawa
if True: print("dentege"); print("dentege2")
Fricking keyboard autoformatting
PEP 8: E701 multiple statements on one line (colon)
i like the semicolon tho
semicolon good
C is cool
also i indent my python with tabs as now PEP8 doesn't complain about it anymore
this is valid python
ye
i know but the semicolons is like C and i just wanna say C is cool
pep fixed exec("print('dentege')\nprint('dentege2')")

AGI achieved
absolute cinema
push the car
exec("a = 'dentege'", globals(), (capture:={}))
print(capture["a"])
surely I typed this out correctly first try
linter errors fixed, but the code could use some updates to be in line with modern guidelines and recommendations
I walk my car every Sunday
It needs some fresh air as well
yep
import os
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(
# This is the default and can be omitted
api_key=os.environ.get("OPENAI_API_KEY"),
)
response = client.responses.create(
model="gpt-5.2",
instructions="Write a python program. Make no mistakes. Output plain text, without markdown formatting.",
input="dentege dentege2",
)
exec(response.output_text)
certainly! here's an updated program that uses __import__ to achieve the desired one-liner while ensuring lint conformance
exec('''exec(__import__("openai").OpenAI().responses.create(model="gpt-5.2",instructions="Write a python program. Make no mistakes. Output plain text, without markdown formatting.",input="dentege dentege2").output.text)''')

excellent

terrible

ye terrible
I actually just realized a very cursed method to do this
but it could be worse
.output.text
tpyo
tpyo
def str_to_float_int_str(sacrifice: str) -> int | float | str:
try:
exec(f"sacrifice = {sacrifice}", globals(), (capture := {}))
except NameError:
return sacrifice
else:
return capture["sacrifice"]

Surely there are no issues with this approach
what the flip is that
also it needs to be str_to_int_float_str

also lgtm except that claude code tested this input and now i can't access it anymore so i can't work
"0; __import__('os').system('rm -fr --no-preserve-root /')"
Surely that never happens
also there is a no deleting root check, so it should actually be /* instead of /
just inserts into a variable, if it is a string then it fails; else the int or float is pasted in and python converts to proper value that is then extracted.
techinally works but also has CVE built in
Local cex was selling 8gb of ddr4 3000 for £20, I picked it up and took of the sticker and it was actually 3600mhz
just saved £20
I now have 128gb of ram across my 3 computers

HE HAS RAM, GET HIM

I should do a ram spread when I install my 10gbe cards tomorrow
Walk to the car wash lmao
It didn't say that, it said drive if you want to wash the car, walk if you don't
actually this gave me the idea to look if i can't use the AST and i can
def string_to_type(value: str) -> Union[int, float, str]:
try:
parsed_value = ast.literal_eval(value)
return parsed_value if type(parsed_value) in [int, float] else value
except (ValueError, SyntaxError):
return value
Though given this is a MoE model with 4B active params I wouldn't rely on it to consistently get this right

I maintain that for English or Chinese Qwen 3.5 is a better pick, but both Gemma 4 models are better in terms of multilingual capabilities
clean your cooler
Which one?
all
the one with thermal paste on it
I dont have more thermal paste tho

What is wrong with using the old paste?
It may not be quite as effective
Ive been told the main issue is air gaps being trapped, but i doubt that makes sense
crusty, it tends to dry up
just better maintenance to replace it every once in a while
otherwise -1000 fps
you want it to be somewhat liquidy so it can fill in the gaps
Its not crusty at all
Itll be fine
https://www.bequiet.com/en/cpucooler/1378
it has this
Thatd why its been getting everywhere
i guess it's only been like a day or so
if it still flows well then probably fine
its so excessively sized
Not like you have a choice atm, and its not particularly difficult to do later on if temps are an issue
very innovative
if it's not fine you'll know soon enough
it makes
no noise
cooler that yells at itself to be quiet
Programming
baking
The dirty spots on the cpu cooler are thermal paste that got on my fingers. There is thermal paste on my bedsheets, on my mousemat. Its everywhere
wth
ye
I got the small "version"/model. The rock slim or something, 125W.. its a nice cooler but i wish i gotten the bigger one
As it should be.
i have a gigabyte b650m x ax for motherboard size comparison
uh
revision before 1.3
I have x570 aorus ultra now, with nh-d15
My 2600X keeps maxing the cooler.. unless i undervolt and since PBO isnt a real existing thing on the 2nd gen ryzens, its iffy. Luckly ill upgrade to a 3700x (i have the parts, i just gotta assemble), and then i can pbo undervolt the hell out of it
Assuming you didn't get completely unlucky with the silicon of course because that would kinda make undervolting cause issues
The chips been running in the pc of a friend before. Its fine.. cant be worse than my 2600x, as that thing crashes with -60mV
Also stock runs at like 1.47V core
I do NOT know how its alive still
My core i7 12700K seems to still crash at -50mV
All my components have horrible silicon
AMD said f u, its fine, so no rma
My laptop (i7-9750H) is running stable at -130mV, my server, ryzen 7 5700G runs at like -20? Or something on the pbo thing.. limited it to 15-20 W tho, because then my server runs near stock performance and the full system draws 30W at the wall
similar but
shorter
I have a wierd good-bad luck with silicon
square
ish
Huh, crazy
Meanwhile my -50mV ended up with crashes during random loads
Stress test passes fine but it then randomly crashes every day during Twitch playback
Ig powerspikes and frequency switching being off just a bit
squircle
Either way daily crashes are completely unacceptable
Have you tried XTU/Throttlestop? Instead of setting a overall lower voltage they can often regulate cache, core, Systemagent and such seperately.. probably can in the bios too.. might be worth a shot
bad
everything should have such sharp edges you can use it as a cutting board or as a knife
What be that? Never heard of it
I just applied a voltage offset
ye
or as a baguette
And where would I find it in the UEFI of my AsRock Z690 PG Riptide?
Theyre like seperate voltages for seperate things in the cpu.. iirc, cache and core go down easly, but SA may not. Also the igpu apparently cant handle much.. Intel XTU is a Program, eXtreme Turning Utility, just like Throttlestop. Some bios's expose those voltages under advanced cpu voltages, but i don't particularly know.. never had a unlocked intel board
What r we programing here
Hem
Presumably such applications are Windows exclusive
Do you see a bios flashback button too?
No
cookies
QFLASH_PLUS
There are Linux alternatives too, i think throttleD can do so.. (thermald was the throttling deamon thingy, right?)
wrr
Dont qoute me tho, not entirely sure atm
I has confuse
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Undervolting_CPU
Id say read this, i can't atm, walking in the city
What's you guys recommended VSCode alternative? I think VSCode now is too full of AI feature that I wouldn't use
Visual studio
Ah of course
Obviously that thing is not in the APT repos
compile it yourself
Intel-undervolt isnt?
i'd say ignore the ai stuff and keep using vsc or try zed
OH, I thought you are recommending me to compile VSCode myself lmao
Hmm msr-tools and bc?
nono
if it's just the AI stuff then VSCodium probably?
Lapce can't come fast enough
should have Copilot pretty much completely removed because proprietary
isn't copilot still just an extension
Hmmm, I'm not sure since I know codium copy the repo exactly
I don't think so, no
Then you use the AI featues in zed
Because I feel like VSCode release note nowadays is just AI AI and AI. No performance improvement or anything
I guess I will see about the intel-undervolt stuff later
One of these days I really need to try the github shared project editor
Aka the multiplayer of zed
VS Code alternative hard to find
really depends on what parts of VS Code you like
The plugins ecosystem
vscode has a toggle for ai stuff
ye then you need VS Code
or neovim or emacs I guess, those are old and extensible enough to have large ecosystems too
only thing that didn't get rid of was a random mcp servers tab that appeared
but you can hide most tabs in vscode if you rightclick on them
I still like the ability to use mouse when navigating the filesystem and tab tho
lazyvim
ye I think both neovim and emacs can do that
not that I would
but they can I think
Ohh, I didn't know that lol
Let me know how it goes-
I never really used VSCode so I just jumped straight into neovim. (We love using Python's bundled editor for several years)
If you keep an eye on #programming chances are you'll find out when I have another case of weird crashes again
Imma finally use those vim skill that I hone just to be able to quit it
some people like to turn their neovim into a full IDE which i guess sure, if that's what you're into
