inductors i think
how tf did you managed to cook an inductor wtf
damn 280 for a pi though
im still baffled with how tf the inductor burned but not the controller chip or mosfet
Happy birthday
happy birthday
happy birthday iggly
happy birthday kuhaku
Victory is mine! I have forced a Local Admin account instead of an online microsoft one at install for Win11.
Autounattend solves this
not installing win11 also solves this
now just ignore the "Microsoft account problem: Select here to sign into your Microsoft account" notifications for the rest of time. but other than that it works well.
The problem with that is you won't have Windows 11.
client's specs required Win 11, I've turned off most of their stupid upsell notifications.
Alarming that a single model managed to spark this much mental illness
Until Microslop permanently disables local account login to enforce age verification
every computer I have in the future will be linux
no more of this microslop as long as this is what we get out of it
Make sure you go AMD if so
Just go AMD in general if you're just gaming and don't need CUDA
Eeeeh
DLSS 3-4 is kind of a big deal
FSR4 is good but its not nearly as good and you still suffer in RT
Eh, DLSS is a thing
But you also don't really want to rely on DLSS
I use DLSS but I can get good performance without it too
I dunno, DLSS 4 Quality is pretty indistinguishable from native 4K
Other than slightly larger RT noise speckles in games where that's an issue
In Factory games DLSS is extremely obvious
Even with the quality preset conveyor belts become a blur
Is that DLSS 4 though
Doesn't sound like it to me
why do they care so much about specifically o4?
it's the first useful model that will glaze you super hard
will make shit up and tell you whatever you want to hear, regardless of how accurate
turns out that people want this
funny how i never even used it
properly setup screening >> generic 4K monitor
The controller chip might also be cooked
DNS issue again

do ip a next time, see if you still have an address
but why is it a timeout then
surely you don't have another default route
hdcp is the server thingy that asigns the ip adresses right?
DHCP but ye
i think we have a wifi extender that had issues with trying to take control of that
default route changed to something stupid then mabe
most of the time i booted the pi it went to 192.168.129.194 but sometimes it went to192.168.4.2
the 129 worked with ssh, but the one with 4 didnt want to ssh
in that case, next time it fails do ping 1.1.1.1, ip a, and ip r
yeah that is very
not good

as a workaround you can turn off the DHCP client and manually assign a free IP and add the proper default route
but that gets annoying quickly
Hear me out, you can also set up a 4K monitor properly
you should try to assign either a static lease or just set a static ip instead
better to just kill that rogue DHCP server
permanently, yes
4o not o4, and the answer is unironically AI psychosis
It glazed people so hard they tricked themselves into thinking its their sentient AI cyber waifu
Yeah those games use DLSS 3
You can upgrade them through the nvidia app override or by swapping the DLL
There's no "Nvidia app"
Actually hydroneer uses DLSS 2 lol
Its like a two minute job for a permanent image quality buff
4k is overrated ngl
lots of other important factors
panel type, ppi
also would rather multiple 2k than a 4k for same price
I don't even know where to find such DLL
PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE=1 with proton ge and done
Hem
I'd rather one 4k OLED personally just because of the insane sharpness/clarity
Proton GE? I don't think I have that installed
Definitely worth grabbing, it has lots of nice to haves compared to the main branch
I'd rather take one of those dual mode displays with 4k and 1080p
Well I sure don't know how to install it
rather build 8k with bunch of barebones oled panels
for cheaper
Install instructions on the repo
ngl i wanna do this just got no space for it
Then you just set it as your compatibility layer in steam settings for a game
I wouldn't go that far
unless if i replaced my home theater
oh i totally would
4k is the sweetspot at my preferred monitor size of 27 inches imo
there's also protonup-qt which is quite simple
diy is fun and cheaper
27 INCHES???

Yup
This meme is the reason I have 4 4k portable displays
hell no
i like buying a single transistor, actually 0.21 euro part, and they want 25 euro delivery
That's cap, we're talking about 163 PPI vs 108-109
That's a pretty big difference in clarity
till you realize its small enough the visibility is barely any different
also lemme do math
1080p is 81ppi at 27 inch to put that into perspective
The ideal ratios depend on the ideal person
Also 1440p monitors are kinda fucked up for media consumption and productivity
better to buy in bulk
if it's not an uncommon part then it's probably part of some kit you can buy
-# 25€ still crazy though
Stuff doesn't scale evenly, its like the black sheep/red headed stepchild between 1080 and 4k
rather get 2k for way cheaper
0.47 µH, 3A, shieleded SMD
that seems more like config issues
For my 15.6 inch 4k bois I tend to have them very close so I appericate the res
32 inch is too big imo and the jump in clarity from 1440/27 is way lower
4K is 2x the pixel count of 1080, 1440p is 1.5x
big screen are fuckin nice wdym
Stuff literally mathematically does not scale evenly
i know, not that it matters scaling shouldn't be an issue
Given most content is mastered for 1080 or 4k
If I decide I want frames, I usually just downscale and let the monitor accept more frames
It is pretty commonly regarded as the modern baseline
if scaling at 2k is an issue you probably didn't rendered something in native resolution
and instead did some wacky scaling shi
I'm talking about video content here
Not really no
how
2k TVs never really existed
Video is mastered according to the industry standard set by TVs ^
That's why even though PC monitors are often SRGB Rec.709 is the standard for SDR video
good luck with the OS overhead
how much is a 4k monitor
Depends on the panel tech
not bad actually
If you don't care about OLED 4K IPS is the price of 1440p a few years back
custom edisplay port board ig
OLED is pricey but not as insane as it used to be
i can get 1080p120 barebone oled panels for like
$40
though by e dp protocol
ez
actually you know what
Might go higher, portable bois I have clock higher
I've seen 217hz before limited by pretty sure typec
for the oleds, those bois had a refresh time of 1ms; hence why it was attempted

4K IPS brand new is like $200
Second hand is even cheaper if you want a good refresh rate
the 1080p120 oled panels are like 16"
My version of this project was going to include touch versions so I can have a giant digital whiteboard
so ig imma have 16K 64"
just get a digitizer
ez
they're affordable
i use them on my new briefcase build
god
what refresh rate are you targeting? seems like cables currently are limited to 16k30
monitors still have ugly bezels, get a 8K projecotr and make it do pixelshifting
my kid self used to think touch screen are like the most futuristic complicated tech ever
the realization
is devastating
My top end 240hz 4K QD-OLED with insane pixel density at 27 inches was like $450 USD
touch digitizer are so damn simple
32 inch is cheaper
wtf surprisingly affordable?
i thought they're like $800+
Yeah prices have come way down for OLEDs
You'd have been right three years or so back
16k120hz would be funny for the build
16K 64"
plan to just use multiple gpu lol
100%
I'm just curious on where your going to go in terms on minmaxing. Either try and force every pannel as high as they can go and pick lowest useful or just going to play it safe
Are they p*ntile 🤢
so i need like 16 of those panels
16 is the 4k pannel number
i mean
64 1080p bois
not the worst
cheaper than tv
still
also oled
also 120Hz
touch digitizer are also cheap
can get each for $12
120Hz and possibly higher depending on how high you want to attempt
with frame sync or?
+$192
ig it's not so bad at 120hz
world best TV for $832
the rest of the hardware... i already have it
there's like at least 20 GPUs in my shelves now
from 3080Ti down to 980Ti
i have bifurcation capable board
actually
might use that one pretty board i have
though its like, 7th gen intel
but its so pretty
- high end chipset, built in raid 5

ya know what i wanna another home server
hm
haven't used that
is it like
only for quadro cards
or it also works on consumer cards
ye
also needs special sync card thing if you're using it with more than one GPU I think?
okay-
i need to check with my friend if they still have bunch of quadro M6000
because i have one
and only one
wait fck
4k tv are somewhat affordable now
gonna be cheaper to stitch some 4k TVs together?
nah
just the pricing are way lower than i thought
but the 16 1080p panels are still cheaper if you wanna diy an 8k
- touch digitizer
wait
those things are also pretty thin
what if
;
i make it like
wrr

i was having some crazy fuck ideas where i can just fold it in my backpack with diy arm mounting
and i can bring an 8k everywhere i go
use it like uhh, example i wanna do a presentation

ah
what if
i make my new briefcase modular
so i can also mount it on my back and the monitor can be pulled to front
why is a character
Just checking for your sanity, do the pannels that your checking for have a 4k option. Might be cheaper than you though and can get the 16k meme build after all
;?

Well the conveyor belts still look like mush
is that with the dlss upgrade env variable
my mini has nobara on it which is this guy's distro
i like his warning about the upcoming pascal deprecation
if you're ever unsure which dlss version is used there is also PROTON_DLSS_INDICATOR=1 but the overlay is borderline invisible on dark backgrounds
im cutting my losses on the pi, removing the inductor i see some smaller resistors are also damaged and stuff.
and for the outrageous shipping prices they're giving me, im jsut gonna get a new pi instead

better image, idk why i decided to take a screenshot on the black title screen
ill get another rk3588 i guess, maybe one with less ram this time
i got the 16gb one cuz it was a good deal at the time
By the way how goes getting that PC with a 3090 in it that I wanted to buy?
i ordered it, nothing heard back yet
I see
Can I dump some Assembly code here?
Just for fun
my poor gtx 1060 😢
hmmm
i could get a cheaper pi with rk3588
but then id lose that money by needing to buy a different heatsink
A 1060 in this year of our lord 2026? My god man
its only 10 years old
Less the age and more the performance. It was shit at lunch lol
10 year old GPU on my 7 year old PC
it was only 3 years old when I built this thing so
At least its the 6 gb version
There was also a 3gb version
My 1070 lasted me until last year when I upgraded to a 3060.
Gave the 1070 to a buddy stuck on an old r540
yeah the PC I had before this one was an AMD Bulldozer with an r7 240
wait no bulldozer
vishera/piledriver
Recently I got a 5060ti but I dont really game on it. Its mostly been used for ML stuff. I still game on the 3060 lmao
did much chane from 3060 to 5060ti?
i remember people saying the 4060ti was worse than the 3060ti
5060ti has 4 gb more vram at 16 and is quite a bit faster.
4060ti was laughed at because its performance was laughable and had 12gb vram
in the running for most dogwater cpu lineage of all time
bulldozer and everything related to it
maybe not even in the running i'm not sure if anything else comes close tbh
phenom II -> bulldozer is one of the biggest drops in sentiment ever
it has to be
phenom II was a good budget pick, it wasnt faster than nehalem (the original i7s) but it was way cheaper for more cores, you could also often unlock the cheaper ones from like 2 to 4 core with decent success rate
then intel put out sandy bridge
which was quite good and quite spency
Sadly it not only lead to garbage amd cpus it lead to 10 years of 5% better quad cores from Intel
yep
god
i had a 4770k for so fucking long
it took until ryzen 5000 until i finally considered it worth upgrading
because amd was in such deep shit
they couldnt compete at all

I didnt upgrade my 6400 until zen plus
i went 4770k -> 5900x
2700x
ryzen 3000 was okay from what i remember, but 5000 solidified their current position i think
I adopted ryzen pretty early
ryzen 1000/2000/3000 were good, just not quite able to overtake intel in like single core/gaming type stuff
I saw the potential. I knew amd was making a comeback, but nobody believed me
maybe its cuz im only looking at amd's flagships with too many core for good single core speed. but i feel like intel is still slightly better for single core
intel has a better memory controller
Yeah amd always fell behind 8n single core, but with 2000 series it was less than 10%
yeah by the time you hit 3000, buying intel was only a single core or gaming buy
then x3d put amd ahead for gaming and such
chiplet design made scaling much easier for amd
which is why they have had more cores in mainstream parts
zen5 and lion's cove (core ultra 200) are pretty well matched in a lot of places
the new 250k and 270k are genuinely good
intel is kinda in an amd ryzen spot atm where amd is still king in like gaming shit due to x3d
but these new parts are scary a bit for amd
250k beats 9950x3d in some productivity multicore type workloads from what i've seen
mainly because it's got 18 cores
12 of them are E-Cores of course but
and intel still gets higher ddr5 speeds even though zen5 mem controller is in a muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better place than previous
zen5 dram latency is better than lions cove in many ways
doesnt have higher overall speeds though
intel had better single core for a long time but now with zen5 it's gone around, intel historically had better branch prediction which would lower misprediction rate and thus lower the amount of times the pipeline must be flushed to restart
but zen5 has 2ahead now which is cool
i wish pentium4 had worked out better just so that i could see absurd branch prediction pipelines irl
netburst had a 31 stage pipeline lmao
that was prescott
tejas which was supposed to succeed it had 40
they were trying to hit 7ghz with that joint
150w tdp on one core lmao
pre-7ghz, would've been like 250w tdp for one single core at their speed target
world would be interesting with a bunch of 30 ghz single cores like intel had thought was gonna happen at one point, they really unironically thought the norm would be like 10ghz+ single cores in the 2010s
dennard scaling
tbf the wall was unknown at the time
yeah
transistors got too smol
turns out you leak current
voltage cant keep going down with size
In a english/numerical stance, I am suprised the wall happens to be at 10GHz
Can never get to the round number
im geussing they're jsut calling it 10 because its close enough
it basically is
WR is at 9.8 with previous best being at 9.7ish
a few things happen at 10ghz
10ghz is fast enough that you cant really reliably ensure your clock signal is reaching every part of the chip on time
if you have a large enough chip
you "can" but not without pain
the world's physics engine runs at 10ghz
the relationship between frequency and power/current required is roughly a cubic scaling
so 5ghz -> 10ghz is not 2 times power but more like
Seems like paired chiplets with seperate clocks similar to the new DDR5 chips are forced
8 times

it's kinda a silicon cmos issue
that means there is also an optimal frequency
I'm guessing that is the 5Ghz the server chips are running at
Unless you are ARM chips and somehow have a lot less power draw regardless
yeah about 5ghz seems to be the practical sweet spot atm
since it's cubic it starts scaling into the stratosphere beyond that
I do actually know why don't @ me
power and heat become le problemme
you can get higher than 10ghz switching speeds
but not in cmos designs atm
bipolar silicon/germanium units are often out here in the hundreds of Ghz
if power required really is equal to frequency^2
then power required/clock speed becomes f^2/f = f
so the higher the frequency, the higher the power to performance
It's a triangle
so im guessing its more nuanced than just power = freq^2
there is also more heat per heat
it's P = α * C * V^2 * f
activity factor (fraction of transistors switching on a given clock)
that's 0to1
P is watts yep
C is capacitance (farads)
v voltage, f frequency
and the watts P is dissipation
Amd is shooting for 7 ghz next gen
nanomachines son
Nuking intel's only hold on the market
We're already measuring in A. We're nearly sub nanometer
me
🔻
Triangle strongest shap
i see
although the nm scale given in marketing is not actually a physical measurement of much of anything btw
it's now "competitive position"
Hasn't been since the mod 90s
i guess heat is the issue, since intel could just build a powerplant if they wanted 20 million watts to go to 600GHz
well the problem is that you just cant dissipate the heat
Time for a new sun
like it's just impossible
Yeahhh.... 12th and 13th gen wre literally burning out
helium yep
heat transfer becomes more effcicient when the delta is higher
so use a semiconductar that can hadnel higher heat i guess?
Into the slab it goes
in those ultra high runs they had to cool the cpu with liquid helium and then they had to also warm up the mobo at the same time
because if you go down too cold you start getting coldbugs
Silicon isnt the best semiconductor, its just the cheapest and most plentiful
Diamond
is currently the semiconductor with the highest heat tolerance, capable of operating at temperatures exceeding 800C
due to its exceptional thermal stability and conductivity. It is followed by wide-bandgap materials like Silicon Carbide (750C) and Gallium Nitride (500C)
big part of it is the process of being able to grow silicon
when can i get daimond cpu?
Czochralski method
Whenever we can actually grow the diamonds
that method allows you to grow a huge ingot which is actually a single monocrystal
Man I want the diamond slab jewelry
next level from CPU keychain
you need to make sure you can get negative and positive parts in the semiconductor, and daimond is too resistant to doping it seems
also jsaut a high cost, but thats not an issue for big tech
well, cost is actually a huge issue for big tech
There is also the method of inner chip heatsink
thats an issue for the shareholders

asianometry viewers will know
germaniun OG
bandgap too narrow sadge
so it bleeds power
That's where I learned this one from
i love asianometry man
germanium is still used as i mentioned earlier with SiGe but it's not used as the bulk semiconductor anymore
gallium arsenide is a meme for a long time because it has better electron mobility
isnt gallium nitride getting used a lot more these days?
but it's fragile and has high defect rates
GaN yeah, wider bandgap than silicon, but expensive, harder to process than sillycon, worse ecosystem for manufacturing
i know its used a lot for chargers
very VERY expensive to grow GaN, usually it's grown on other substrate
yeah thanks to the bandgap mainly

Every time i try that I watch the first part of aincrad and then get to the middle part and wish for death
that and the elf part with the creepy guyh
i like alicization.
We love the last 3 eps with the antagonist
ggo was fun for a while, my wow hunter was named sinon for a while
the fact that alecization is the one where the mc is a vegetable for half of it speaks volumes about the anime as a whole
True
ggo was cool but i got sick of it quickly
haven't watched the second season
i dont like Eugeo so alicization hurts
there is a new sao movie coming out
ye but ||he fucking dies at the end|| so its peak
anything that majorly reboots the setting like alicization throws me off and makes me instantly dislike every character
even tho it's not really a reboot
i like the twist of the mc not being aware he's in a simualtion
i dont cuz it's not the same thing as the previous 3 seasons >:(
give me more slop please
jsut watch the first season again if you want the same shit
i do lmfao

I mostly just enjoyed the new world I was placed into, the character arc of finally committing the most important crime midway through the 3rd season.
i have this thing where i get assmad if anything different than the status quo starts happening in any series
im like
where same thing
that's why im watching
want same thing
For no particular reason, how are you vibing with shield hero?
nah, multiple actually. they keep pumping them out for some reason
one this july, and one that only got announced
IIRC the manga realized the skill issue and is going floor by floor
the manga is stil in aincrad?
There is a rewrite still in aincrad
yes progressive

it's a devastating affliction
I'm reading the light novel and oh boy, that world is going far

uniform
is the light novel translated well
i have been reading through all of konosuba light novels lmao
I forget what it's translation is, haven't seen many english issues in it
are you reading it in fucking japanese
i started playing wow again cuz of sao when it came out lmao
which directly lead me here really
wow addons lead me back to programming after losing interest in the minecraft years of 2009-2011

thats fair
I was checking if it was some separate from original author but that was stupid because you can literally buy the english versions in paper
oh you mean like someone taking hella liberty with it
Yep, but seems like it is just offical
flashbang yourself by going through the last eps of seasons 1 and 2 first

palette cleanser
i jsut hope there wont be too much overlap
Considering season 1 had a "Draw the rest of the owl" in terms of pacing as well
they could have made aincrad 200 epsiodes easily if they wanted to
tank
and 2 episodes per floor iss till not a lot
we love tanks in a fantasy world
i like to call tankoubons tanks lmao
even tho technically a ln could be tankoubon most people mean collections of manga for that in western terms i think
it's just a format
ln are usually bunkoubon

hi

yea and
i like how at the bottom they're also asking for money
i cant wait for kids to get traumatized by the scratch LLM acting up
what in the actual fuckk???
atp, scratch peaked with 2
3 kinda felt baby ish and too colorful for sum reason
i hate this timeline
gimp is the wost piece of software in history
gimp may be the worst thing about using linux, not that it's required, but it is very common
nobody who has ever designed any usable UI has ever touched gimp
in terms of being responsible for its ui
which is the most dogshit interface ever created
sinister in that it seems vaguely similar to every other image editor UI ever created
but sneakily just upends convention at random in places designed scientifically to be as irritating as possible
simple things that take 1 second in any other image editor including ms paint are 346 actions away in gimp
gimp is the single worst thing to ever be released and that includes microsoft copilot
i hate gimp
i was misreading that as grimp
kek
so i was wondering what the hell a grimp is
grimp is aight
idk if ther eis a grimp
but for some reason
i'm picturing grimace from mcdonalds
grimp
I think bro is misreading this or I'm wrong idk https://fixupx.com/_kaivara_/status/2037714665652863045?t=MYqonUXtiyz0TqVKzvG0JQ&s=19
GIVE ME YOUR ATTENTION FOR LIKE 5 SECONDS
︀︀
︀︀GITHUB IS GONNA START USING *YOUR* CODE AND DATA TO TRAIN AI USING COPILOT!!!!!!!!!!!
︀︀
︀︀DISABLE IT AT github.com/settings/copilot/features
istg imma fume if ts intentional...
I thought this was present forever
And is opt-in (why would you opt in, I have no idea)
I should opt in so the model learns from all my dogshit private repos
Seems cap unless they changed it recently

I remember a similar option forever I feel like people would've freaked out a long time ago
Oh
Seems toast already had the same series of reactions I am rn
Lmao
That does specify it's copilot interactions
That kind of thing is typically opt out already everywhere else
I guess idk what they consider a copilot interaction
Does that mean like using a suggestion or specifically directing something in the chat mode or like pushing a commit to git that is then glanced at by copilot
Or like having tab completions at all if copilot completions are enabled
At least I guess they said anything instead of just changing it and not sayign what changed
i think legally any interaction counts
so they are allowed for suggestions probably
if they will is something else
I mean if anything it’s gonna decrease the produced code quality
So I should be keeping it opted in
I think github just trying to make AI more genius by feeding them source code
opt out if you don't want it to be your code's fault the AI sucks.
nobody should learn how to write code by reading mine.

i feel like a lot of people say that
but most people's code here is not actually that bad
there are only a couple of really outrageous code things ive seen in this channel so far
konii, your's is
especially that jit thing from 2 days ago or so
probably not
i haven't been writing much code lately. last 2 weeks ive mostly just been suffering at the expense of my wallet
multitasking vm
what does that mean?
hang on
short ver
i see
so its kinda async?
ye
id imagine when compiled it doesnt use much code either
vzeroupper

*13th and 14th

thunk
Wispers when he realizes the thing I told him was true
thunk tunk tunk
The whole point of not just pushing out BETAMD but instead going for another version batch resulting in NeuroSynth 1 was specifically tuning tolerance
And the tuning tolerance on NeuroSynth 1 is wild
can you really not just schedule service restarts right in the service file in systemd
you have to create a separate oneshot service and schedule it or a cron job 💔 so much random bullshit in systemd and can't even make such a common thing a feature
this pisses me off so much i should get involved with systemd
be the see you wanna change or something like that
wrr
chinese but english
like the PDFs telling you how to use your electronic device you bought on Alibaba. Chinese but English.
Chinese is my favorite English dialect
ive
happy birthday
you've
factory reset my phone
did it get faster? did anything unexpected disappear?
Since we dont know how old, just put "you've aged" in big letters on the cake
my headcanon is that konii has been around forever and is just pretending to be an ageous being to not spook us

no cause C is from the based dudes in bell labs who also made unix and plan 9
but konii wrote all their textbooks specifically to activate the right gears in their mind

please dont tell me u all code in assembly too
oh nvm i didnt get whole context, its just compiled to assembly
one day models won't hallucinate that they know stuff. ;[ just spent 20 minutes debugging code an agent wrote ages ago and found it had just called a random function that seemed like it was close instead of getting the right struct and modifying the values in that and passing them into a different function. (admittedly this was the same type of mistake I'd make and the code actually compiled and ran... it just didn't work.)
at least using LLMs hasn't completely removed my ability to debug code. ;]
assembly is the fastedt langueygr
very fastest
html fast languegr too
how do i compile assembly to html
webasm.
it'
sorry. ;]
i was going to suggest rust.
assemble faster language than roost
compile the rust to wasm. then it's web and assembly so fast and html. nod
i wont call the compiling, its complicating
i wrote a disassembler for PPC in javascript once... that's the opposite though
(was mostly a sed command that processed a document)
unless you are porting, idk how u do that
why would you want to disassemble when assembly the fatsest
hqppy biethay zityu
me glue, didnt read whole context
ye glue
Sigh...
I miss the good old days...
Now my phone can only hold a charge for a whole day...
Just because ive started using my mac's charger on my phone...
Tis such a pain
mine tends to last 3-4 days unless I put discord on it.
I played minecraft on my phone a while ago
Went from 90 to 40 after an hour if memory serves right
Aren't there timer services in systemd?
there are timers, but they do not restart services
they only start and I assume will do nothing if a service is already running
Does this mean you can make Windows go LGTM at arbitrary certificate on driver without test signing being enabled?
that seems to suggest that you need to change a policy first
you can have one shot services
which pairs nicely with timers
we were specifically taught systemd timers in a class, not cron because the prof liked them more
ye, same thing anyway
on modern systemd systems cron jobs just become systemd timers IIRC
similar to mounts
but cron syntax is esoteric and therefore cool looking
good thing that OnCalendar in systemd timers uses pretty much the same syntax then
that's fair
RunetimeMaxSec=1234 and Restart=always doesnt do what you're looking for?
and/or doing blahservice.timer file with OnCalendar for the timing of the restart + Persistent=true instead of doing a oneshot service in the blahservice.service file (not technically in the service file but alongside it)
well that doess require the oneshot actually for that one
i like how the https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/systemd.service.html is just the biggest wall of text ever
this isn’t “restart at this schedule” this is just “this restarts every N secs”
right you right, i was thinking of the .timer and OnCalendar for scheduling but that would still require a oneshot configured in the .service
i think
my unhinged way of doing it would be to misuse WatchdogSec and in the actual service itself where you send your sd_notify telling the watchdog you're alive, have it jsut stop communicating with the watchdog when you want the restart to be scheduled lol
this sounds very not fragile
Solid deal honestly

I wonder is a Mi50 32gb for 620€ a good deal? Im not gonna buy it but i found one on ebay..
Depends on if you need CUDA
Memory wise it's not bad compared to the 3090s I've been getting
Oof
What res are you upscaling from?
No clue
Also are you on dlss quality
DLSS quality preset on 1440p display
i think the conveyor belts smearing so much they appear to stop moving is
i’m not sure what it is actually, something about the temporal qualities of dlss
it really doesn’t bother me at all though
yeah it looks bad but you’re playing a factory game presumably for the factory part not the le pretty graphikz
taa does something VERY similar, almost makes me wanna wonder if dlss is getting fed a taa’d image in the first place
be it the particular dlss implementation in the game i believe we’re both talking about/in its engine or common practice
Not really, and the extra vram does sound nice.. but not sure if the compute on it is good.. do they support rocm?
oh it’s hydroneer - satisfactory does the exact same thing fwiw
The only thing that i could use cude for would be image-gen and such but eh..
isn't the point to replace TAA with dlaa + dlss-sr
no rocm support btw, only MI100 and higher
or well, no official support
helo

tosto
how do i use gcc trunk in nix

not exist
haii shiro

spon
mhm me
gcc merged preserve_none support a while ago
but no releases have it
its only in the git builds

just override src no?
it's not that bad

ye
though it might be difficult for gcc since it's a large project with multiple derivations

What If
wuh do u usually code in, or r u a freak that works in like 3 languages at once
i code in whatever i feel like using
python for scripting
c for simple projects
cpp if i need c features and also a useful stdlib
rust if i need a huge ecosystem
ts if i need to write for the web
zig if i feel quirky
hblang if im working on ableos
its not uncommon
use whatever language suits the needs you have
bash for scripting
bash for simple projects
bash and additional packages if i need bash features and also a useful stdlib
bash in a different distro with different repos if i need a huge ecosystem
https://github.com/vercel-labs/just-bash if i need to write for the web
fish if i feel quirky
bash if im working on bash
this, by that definition, makes me #NotAFreak #MentallyStable #hireme
human

youre gonna love the new visual scripting tool for bash
unreal engine
i like ue blueprints because they've genuinely tried
just-bash isn't. a gimmick unfortunately
writing for the web using just-bash is though

you theoretically can and it'll be fairly ok i think
if you expose dom stuff as commands
doing things you're technically able to do, but you really shoudln't, is peak
Classic

Hmm yeah, doesn't sound like it should be an issue with DLSS 4
Weird
I guess DLSS sucks
I'd personally accept the vibecode here, but that is because my entire repo atm is vibecoded. But at the moment I am trying to fix that
i be honest.. i don't see a single difference between dlss and native when set to quality. just more fps
i always enable it in every game
framegen too if its not a competitive shooter
If you gave me minecraft with DLSS I'd throw whatever client you managed to hack together into the dumpster
In factory games the difference is extremely obvious
not in satisfactory for me...
For me the conveyor belts are so obviously blurry
i tried for the whole day to get something working... like lossless scaling. now i just use fsr 1 with a 1080 -> 1440 upscaling... its good enough
i don't remember that being an issue. tho its been a bit since i last played
I could maybe do lossless but nah bro I ain't touching the ultravisual modded MC version and piping into vulkan conversion for a long time
lossless scaling my beloved
i couldn't get vulkan to work at all.. it just instantly crashes
i did get it working once with completely vanilla and just the vulkan mod on fabric.
Because lossless scaling on linux requires a vulkan window and it adds it as a rendering layer
worked incredibly well tho. only artifacts around the edges when moving fast. but it made 30fps feel like 200
(input latency was shit tho
)
does visual scripting even help people who don't know how to code or is it just a fancier way to create spaghetti
visual scripting is mostly useless
I have a bit of a modding problem for this game
i see
what is it used for though
is it maybe faster than writing code
unless you have like 200 wpm

im not gnl
maybe the newest dlss is fine
but what ive personally seen
its shit
i playes satisfactory before dlss 4 released, so it might have improved
but still
just the general concept of dlss i dont like
satisfactory isn't even that hard to run, i prefer 1440p 120hz on medium settings over up-scaling and more fps
its ass
satisfactory has the same issues because it uses unreal
for big factories I especially get a lot of artifacts
apparently it has to do with unreal being terrible at certain coordinate ranges
