#

maybe bios stuff

#

but anyways

#

my 32GB for iso and other os stuff

#

now that i got the 128gb idfk what to do with it ig imma just use it to play around more distros

#

also i like how usb are so inefficient

#

"high" transfer speeds makes it run hot sometimes

#

while we have nvme just chilling with sub 2W draw

fast pagoda
#

a cheap 256gb nvme (or not so cheap larger one lol) in a 20Gbps $5 enclosure is better than most every flash drive

#

to me

#

or spend more on enclosure and get like thunderbolt 80 Gbps and be able to run full pci-e gen4 drive speed

fast pagoda
#

Found me 2 smallest drives

#

Idk where several others are actually now which is alarming

glass jetty
#

what is this metrics i actually not know, i just needed more memory cuz windows is shit, so i had to rely on swap
to play a game

olive sable
#

Aoi edition

#

havent seen that one before

glass jetty
fast pagoda
#

your drive result there is MB which is megabyte

#

Mb is megabit

#

MB are 8x Mb

#

20Gb is 2.5 GB/s or 2500 MB/s

#

so your drive would be bottlenecked by a 20Gbps enclosure

glass jetty
fast pagoda
#

because that's what usb is rated

#

at

olive sable
#

cuz bandwidth is in bit

fast pagoda
#

it's bandwidth as sam said

#

the reason there's multiple ways to refer to it is basically just habit/tradition

#

networking & connections between devices/interconnects tended to come from the telecom cinematic universe where data is serialized 1bit at a time and thus bits/s was the unit convention used

#

storage stuff is less influenced by that and is measuring raw capacity to put things on it, things that are measured in bytes, not bits, so measuring that uses bytes and a drive specifically would be measured in speed that it can read/write those bytes, not necessarily the speed it's transferring it down the bus

#

and bits stick around because ISPs and cables love putting big number

#

alongside the technical reasons

#

marketing is not going to be mad at an excuse to multiply by 8

#

comcast is much happier advertising gigabit+ speeds and hoping that the person doesnt care that what theyre saying is 125 MB/s

#

Actually, looking at the Spanish text: "0と1が交差して生まれるハーモニー...". This is Japanese. It translates to "The water Spain"
LULE

#

hallucinate the language incorrectly of the string of random japanese that you hallucinated and then translate it completely incoherently

azure lynx
#

and it wasn't marketing for the chips

#

was just how they were made

fast pagoda
#

well right that's why they still use bytes

#

that part was just about why we havent decided to toss one or the other out and go with either bits or bytes but not both

#

storage was always bytes so it's bytes

#

natively

azure lynx
#

not always... ancient words used to be weird sizes on some architectures like 12 or 13 bits or 36... groups of 3 bits so they could use octal

#

(i watch too many computer history type things on youtube)

fast pagoda
#

reeeeeeeeeeeee not every case is being included here but bytes are just 8 bits and are what we ended up using to represent storage in the end, words are dependent on architecture so it's not as consistent

#

x86 words are 2 bytes 16 bits, some can be different

azure lynx
#

pretty much all words are some multiple of 8 bits now. i agree. but there's probably industrial control equipment still being used somewhere in the world with something weird going on.

fast pagoda
#

oh im sure someone out there is still dealing with 64 bit words or something

#

i believe technically bytes do not HAVE to be 8 bytes, bytes can actually be anywhere from 1 to like 48 bits, there were some old 6 and 9 bit bytes (nice)

true hemlock
#

why the fuck is my 5600mts sodimm ddr5 defaults at 3200 cl26

fast pagoda
#

ES weirdness?

true hemlock
#

ddr4'd my lpddr5

fast pagoda
#

i'd normaly say it's just the jedec spec

#

but

#

3200 mt/s is fucking slow even for that

#

that should be 4800

#

what happens if you enable xmp

#

or expo i guess

#

i'd chalk it up to ES with a shitty imc

#

if it's not resolved by that

true hemlock
#

the es has golden imc

fast pagoda
#

golden poop

true hemlock
#

just that uhh

#

ya know...

fast pagoda
#

tthat looks all above board

#

nothing janky about that

#

im sure the imc hasnt even noticed

#

transparent af

true hemlock
#

its a ddr5-5600 cl46

#

the one that i traded with my ddr4-3200 cl22

fast pagoda
#

i remember a wise man once told me one will have a bad time mixing dimms even outside of the same batch with recent amd imc

#

and then i didnt

#

but at least those were the same kit

true hemlock
#

tbf

#

same kit probably still uses similar dram die

#

the sentiment of mixing ddr5 kits is bad is sorta over exaggerated somewhat

fast pagoda
#

yeah i always figured that was enough myself which is why i didnt think anything of it

#

they are different die i believe from last time i pulled the info tho

#

does uefi even let you enable expo with those kits like that

true hemlock
#

imma keep my sodimm running at 1.1v

#

okay 5600mts works

fast pagoda
#

that's crazy that it defaulted to 3200

#

on ddr5

true hemlock
#

5600 46-45-45-90 1.1v

#

idfk why it was defaulted to 3200

#

but its funny

fast pagoda
#

it's like they forgor to put default jedec spec on it

true hemlock
#

im pretty sure i could probably do 6000 cl40

#

at 1.35v

fast pagoda
#

or the mobo/imc just shit itself

#

when it saw the completely different stick topo and shit

true hemlock
#

sodimm on desktop

#

creature

#

i absolutely fucking love this 980Ti it was a gift from a friend

hard delta
#

that's not a desktop

#

that's a floortop!

fast pagoda
#

the floor is but god's desk

#

or somethin

#

this'll produce output eventually surely

true hemlock
#

i am pretty god damn sure

#

that 5600 46-46-46-92 is like jedec

#

as well with 4800 40-40-40-80

#

BUT THERE ISN'T ANY 3200 JEDEC FOR DDR5 HELLO???

#

why did i defaulted to 3200

fast pagoda
#

that's why i was saying

#

4800 is what i thought it would default

#

3200 doesnt exist

#

didnt even know you could clock it like that on purpose tbh, i never thought about it

#

well

#

on purpose is a stretch

#

3200 is the top official ddr4 speed

#

so that's weird

#

it's like it didnt even know if it had ddr5 or 4

#

JEDEC INDUSTRY STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS
Description DDR5
Data Rates (Speed in MT/s) 4000, 4400, 4800, 5200, 5600, 6000, 6400 MT/s
Monolithic DRAM Densities (Gbit) 8Gb, 16Gb, 24Gb, 32Gb, 48Gb, 64Gb

#

4000 is apparently the lowest official jedec

#

makes sense as i remember that speed being around when ddr5 launched

true hemlock
#

why tf did it ddr4'd my poor lpddr5 stare

true hemlock
#

i remember alder lake ddr5 was so shit

fast pagoda
#

yeah i remember thinking it was dogshit because it was barely any faster than ddr4 and you had to get a whole entire platform

true hemlock
#

people casually doing 4800 on ddr4

#

especially on ryzen 5 5500

#

cezanne overclocking is

#

🤌

fast pagoda
#

there were literally ddr4-4000 kits

#

and 5333

#

up to

#

wasnt jedec but

true hemlock
#

well

#

unfortunately the universe wanted me to do lpddr5 on my smol briefcase

fast pagoda
#

kingston apparently coughed up some cl16-cl20 ddr4-5333

true hemlock
fast pagoda
#

why do we need ddr5 brah just keep 4 goin

true hemlock
#

after the ram shortage goes away i'll actually snatch some overclocking kits

true hemlock
fast pagoda
#

the way things are going skynet will have ddr5 and we'll be on ddr4 in 2050

true hemlock
#

btw

#

ddr3 overclocking is also still super relevant

#

2750 mts Cl8

fast pagoda
#

same cpu that's in my derelict unplugged desktop across the room

true hemlock
#

one of my friend has a ddr3-3400 cl12 kit

fast pagoda
#

good ol' 4770k

true hemlock
#

ngl

#

binned overclocked previous gen dram is better than XMP/EXPO newer gen

#

same friend also did a 12000mts ddr5

fast pagoda
#

For some reason I thought this was DDR4 for a long time

#

Have a few of these

#

I think the PC has the world's most scuffed generic ddr3 in it rn

true hemlock
#

at least my sodimm is confirmed to be working

fast pagoda
#

It's just the one huh

true hemlock
#

i still need to send my 2x32 kit for the rma

fast pagoda
#

i need to see my old pc's ram situation

olive sable
#

harvesting ram from the old pc

fast pagoda
#

oh yeah whatever this is i'm sure it's legally allowed to be called ddr3

#

this pc is so full of dust

quick condor
#

Finally seem to have gotten transcribe trained

olive sable
#

the used pc i bought has 2x8gb of ram, whil my current pc due to my ram RMA has 1x16gb
so the shitty old pc is currently faster in terms of ram

#

its has a 13400 so the mem controller should also be better than my 5950x

#

jsut a shame its locked

fast pagoda
#

now that's some serious memory

olive sable
#

4x8GB?

#

thats still 32gb, pretty decent

quick condor
olive sable
fast pagoda
#

yeah i think the board for whatever reason maxes at 32

olive sable
#

might just be cpu max

fast pagoda
fast pagoda
#

apparently the controller is theoretically able to do more but the boards say 32 only for most of them

#

the board is an asrock z87 extreme4 so it should be relatively up to whatever the higher end of allowed stuff like that was

#

those have a micron logo looking at them so it's just a similar heatsink for those things i called optanes

#

i think

#

sadge

quick condor
#

16gb ddr3 dimms aren't super common outside the server space the box is ddr3 32gb though

olive sable
#

its not worth upgrading the 10y/o pc tho

fast pagoda
#

well it cant go higher anyways

quick condor
fast pagoda
#

i guess it might be beneficial to have 2 slots instead of 4 filled but also 4 filled should be best if it's not unstable or you're trying to oc i think

fast pagoda
# quick condor

idk what it was but a lot of ram had this design of cooler back then

#

optane dram did too

#

various random samsung ones had a white variant of it

#

"cooler"

#

heatsink

quick condor
#

If anything it does more as a EMI shield than for cooling

fast pagoda
#

#

@true hemlock been looking since you mentioned it

#

at least 2 of them are hynix A die

#

this board doesnt appear to surface the actual module info very readily, smbus SPD is not accessible

#

which is annoying

#

so need to restart into uefi to see it but im currently running #66/120 configs for qwen3.5 parameters and it's been like

#

several hours now

#

so i cant stop till it's done

#

well, 66/120 of this sweep

#

i do remember last time i had access to the information the modules were like 6 months apart

#

in manufacture date and i am not sure if they were both hynix

#

i know 2 sticks are

#

nice

#

tomato (fast)

true hemlock
olive sable
#

isnt it widely know to be worse than intel's?

true hemlock
#

only generally applies on ddr5 tbh

#

ddr4 is actually pretty banger on amd

#

hell i'd say amd's somewhat better

#

people really liked using cezanne for ddr4 overclocking

#

but for like most extreme oc beyond 5833mts we use intel 10 and 11th gen often lol

olive sable
#

cezanne as in like, 5700g?

true hemlock
#

5700g, 5500

#

also threadripper imc are cracked

olive sable
#

i used to have a 5700g before my 5950x

true hemlock
#

the same 32gb dimms on elvy's pc are really really damn hard to work with most of my lga 1700 boards

#

and the threadripper casually did XMP on 2dpc on them

#

on 4 channels

#

...on a mismatched kit even

olive sable
#

the only issue with the 13400 is that since its locked, i cant increase voltage to vccsa

true hemlock
#

6x32gb 3200 cl16 then you have 2x32gb 3200 cl22

#

still does 3200 cl16 xmp fine

olive sable
true hemlock
#

though it might make sense

#

my place RF noise is fucked

#

and most of my lga 1700 are the mid range boards

olive sable

The winpeshl.exe file is used in Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) to replace the default command prompt with a shell application or other app, such as a GUI for deployment engineers. It can also be associated with various boot errors, including black screens, boot loops during updates, and application initialization failures, often with error code 0xc0000006.

at next trigger of second camera when i can acquire new frame i add it to vector for first camera, and try to hold current second camera execution for deltaX/2 (or maybe deltaX/4 ?), and if on first camera i receive new frame, i add it to vector for first camera
-> repeat until vectors are equal or lock for > than deltaX/2
and now i have 2 vectors, if they are equal i just fit them to each other, if they are not, i discard oldest elements in second camera vector, and fit them with shift on size difference

and that natively have perf and restoration on gap (cuz first camera even create gap and cant hit exact value of triggers even with 10us exposure)

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.

nocturne olive
#

What do the numbers mean?

fast pagoda
#

The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.
