interesting new behavior i noticed last week from Gemini in copilot in VS Code: it used python to edit the source as a shell command instead of using the built-in editor-based editing for certain pieces of code. it found it easier even though i had to review and allow it each time.

i had one trying to use an mcp server that i had fucked up the config for like an idiot and it was failing but it guessed the API that the mcp server was using from the tool descriptions and just sent raw http requests formatted like the mcp would and handled the responses manually

claude loves writing .sh files and executing them as a way to get around sudo blocks

i have to be careful letting it run stuff or not because it keeps trying to do things without being in the right environment, like checking which version of numpy is installed.

now that i'm not at risk of running out of "premium credits" before the end of the month i might try Claude for a bit.
