In this video, I turn a normal Android phone into a full desktop Linux machine — capable of running XFCE, Visual Studio Code, Python servers, and even Windows PC games — all without root.

This setup runs a complete Linux userspace environment directly on Android’s Linux kernel using Termux and Termux X11. It’s not an emulator. It uses t...

there are like 2 or 3 different groups trying, along with individuals also eating a lot of bandwidth

alternative, basically, is adding switch case (or if else) for every possible call for every possible cpu, that is just useless work that ifunc meant to be fixing

#

or different .so or/and compiled executable for different platforms (even worse against unix at least, or idk, but it feels off)

quick condor
#

When you are running so close to OOM that you can't launch discord or take a screenshot

olive sable
#

it would just spill over to system ram no?

quick condor
#

You can't just spill over when training without enabling it and that slows the entire run down. Plus this is my ram rn

olive sable
#

slowing down is better than the system crashing

#

at least you can recover from it going into system ram

quick condor
#

The slow down is enough that it goes from me being able to complete a full test run in 1 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours + if I don't touch anything it wolnt crash so the only situation where it makes sense is when it crashes multiple times (meaning training problem)

olive sable
#

ok but you can just close the program using vram after you're done using it

quick condor
#

Except there is overhead to enabling deepspeed in the first place. It doesn't matter if you are spilling into system ram only 1% of the time, you still have the base performance hit 100% of the time

olive sable
quick condor
#

I'm optimizing to the very edge of what I can do, not even eval steps haven't been adjusted since it wastes time to idle 1 student and run the full eval on the other, I can get pretty much the same time to eval but double the eval steps by running half the evals on each card then all reducing

#

I'm halfway tempted to also have a 240v outlet installed behind my desk since the breaker panel is literally on the outside of the house about 5 feet from the desk. I'm lucky enough to have 20 amp wiring so the current 1200-1300w load (10-11A) isn't brushing against the 80% derate but I'm pretty much tapped out otherwise

#

Oh wait

#

the PC has a GT 710 installed

#

Might be that I need to install Cuda 8

#

Wait no, I googled and it says max runable is 11.4

#

Time to check my download archive to install some drivers

#

yes, i have a download archive

solid bough
#

I sure hope it works

quick condor
#

Gt710 why

solid bough
nocturne olive
#

Oh it is

quick condor
#

Tensor flow on a 710 is going to fail

nocturne olive
#

I guess 580 was the deprecation of 700 series too

solid bough
nocturne olive
#

580 is last that will work

solid bough
#

Oh, I have 581.42 as the closest one in my download archive

#

577 will do

quick condor
#

The 710 is going to cause problems if it doesn't absolutely need to be there

solid bough
#

I copy the drivers over Ethernet because that's teh fastest way

solid bough
#

no biggie

quick condor
#

You aren't running a model on a 710😂

solid bough
#

If not, I can try on the GTX 750

#

Oh Hi Rainboom Dash

#

I'll let Y'all know how it went

patent shard
#

yeah, the dereverb leaves a sort of distortion to it.. interesting
I also tried 3 different models and they all left a bunch of instrumental noise :/

quick condor
#

You only have cuddn compute 3.5 minimum is 3.7

solid bough
young plover
solid bough
#

and 577 was not working

patent shard
#

pretty good for no editing, I guess

#

there's a ton of issues

solid bough
#

I'll try 576.02

quick condor
#

750 is at least Maxwell (sm_50) it has bare bones support but nothing like SM_60 (Pascal) or sm_80 (ampere)

patent shard
#

gtx 750 only has a gb of vram
you aren't gonna be running much on it
a 2gb card might be able to run less demanding models.. idk about 1gb

solid bough
solid bough
#

not even 50mb

patent shard
#

it's not so much the file size

quick condor
#

That's irrelevant. You need cuda compute 3.7+ no models support 3.5 (Kepler)

solid bough
patent shard
#

if it took less than 2gb of vram, yeah

quick condor
#

It's not just file size or driver version, it's instruction set

patent shard
#

you reaaaaally don't want to be running models with shared memory

solid bough
#

Yeah... but I never touched the code that does that again because it worked...

patent shard
#

also, gtx 750 is 1gb of vram from what I see

olive sable
quick condor
#

Trying to use a 750/710 is wild imo

solid bough
#

GDDR5

patent shard
#

750 or 750 ti?

solid bough
quick condor
#

Yah I'll be surprised if you don't cause physical damage to the card trying to put that kind of load on such an old card

solid bough
patent shard
#

seems some gtx 750 came with 2gb

quick condor
#

It seems more like a waste of time

#

What is the memory bandwidth even?

patent shard
#

80gb/s

solid bough
#

Anyways, I yoink the 4... Wait a second, I... UH, I'm back in a bit

patent shard
#

the 1gb and 2gb are the same bus
so both came with 80gb/s

solid bough
#

Ah, okay. Now I got it. I yoink the 475.14 driver and install it

quick condor
#

Yikes even my A2 is 200GB/s

solid bough
#

Eh, It'l work Fiiiine

#

It's fine

patent shard
#

it's a card from 2014

#

of course the bandwidth is gonna be low

solid bough
#

The original code for the model is from like 8Y ago

#

Tops 9Y

#

August 5th 2018

#

Ight, 475.14 is getting installed

#

I can't wait to see if it actually works Smug

quick condor
#

Idk an embedding model (512mb) and a 3/8 by is about as much as the A2 can handle and it's an ultra low power ampere

solid bough
#

btw, the res is 144x192 (Model)

quick condor
#

You may genuinely be faster on cpu inference

solid bough
#

HOLY Filtered

#

It runs

#

so that means that the GTX 750 will most likely run it too

patent shard
#

I don't think whatever is being used for removing the vocals from the songs for neuro karaoke is always good
maybe they are using in-house models, then fair enough miniHmm

solid bough
#

Hascrack the Cooler is COLD

quick condor
#

Launch doesn't mean run. I can launch r1 full weight on cpu but I'll get 0.001t/s

solid bough
#

okay, that isn't true

#

But it isn't boiling water hot

#

I can literally touch the GPU

quick condor
#

My coolest is in the 45ish c range dumping 1300w into it

solid bough
#

Well, the GT 710 has a chill 38°C rn

#

Does it struggle?
YES

But that's cool ngl

#

But I can surprise my friend with that Wheeze

#

Rainboom Dash, Should I try the GTX 750 now or after sleeping?

patent shard
solid bough
#

I'm tempted to just yeet that GPU in there (Metaphorically)

patent shard
#

okay, lemme try with the original audio

solid bough
#

Well, I think that it doesn't sound that bad ngl

#

Okay, I can't help myself, I really wanna see the GTX 750 running in that PC

fast pagoda
solid bough
#

AF, I have done something

fast pagoda
fast pagoda
young plover
#

yup, QD-OLED

solid bough
#

I ran on on a toaster (Aka the GT 710)

fast pagoda
#

Lmfao what

patent shard
fast pagoda
#

What ran on that thing

solid bough
patent shard
fast pagoda
#

That makes me want to attempt to run something on my gtx 460 from 15 years ago but I don't think it even has the compute model needed for modern cuda kernels

#

Good ol fermi

solid bough
#

And now I try the GTX 750

#

And it would be a dream if both GPU's can run on 475.14

#

uh... the GT 710 disappeared on Taskmanager

fast pagoda
#

it probably collapsed into a singularity

solid bough
#

Well, it is still installed on the server board

#

And still detected on Device Manager

fast pagoda
#

dont get too close to the gpu package it'll probably suck you into jumanji

solid bough
#

I think I need to put the GT 710 below the GTX 750

fast pagoda
#

you could probably run a gt710 on like pcie 3x1

solid bough
#

I think the GT 710 is on 2x 2.0

#

that is what I last saw on GPU Z

patent shard
#

yeah, idk what model is being used to remove the vocals for neuro karaoke.. but it's def a very old model
sometimes it works fine... other times.. not so much and the instrumental comes out butchered :/

fast pagoda
#

my intel accelerator negotiated pcie 2x2 on the bottom slot of my mobo the other day which made me so salty i ordered multiple server boards to put stuff liek that on but they havent come in yet

solid bough
#

Windows got me for a second. (windows updates)

fast pagoda
#

well one is here but it's a blade server and i need to get a shitty power supply to blow up trying to get it to power it

#

speaking of this anyone got hella tips for running any of intel's various 2600 model numbered mobos

solid bough
#

I can only imagine what kind of shenanigans I would do if I had all 5 GPU's in that one server board

#

or on...

fast pagoda
#

i have one of these on the way mainly because of 6x pci-e

#

too bad theyre gen3 at best

#

should be enough though cuz mainly use the slot bandwidth when loading shit on there

fast pagoda
#

is that lga2011

solid bough

Except the Quadro M2000, that is not in there rn

solid bough
fast pagoda
solid bough
fast pagoda
#

an OG

solid bough
fast pagoda
#

that makes sense

#

lga2011 feels like hpc to me because when i really got into building puters, lga2011 was the high end spec

solid bough
#

okay cool. now I got a different issue

fast pagoda
#

well lga1366 at first but then 2011

#

was the high end

solid bough
#

The GT 710 and GTX 750 seem to not play nice

fast pagoda
#

i forgot about 1366

solid bough
#

Damn PH_woah

#

So I lucked out in a way ig

fast pagoda
#

boot linux

#

i sitll want a classified SR2

#

RIP evga

#

actual tragedy what happened to them

solid bough
fast pagoda
#

wha

#

isnt it significantly harder to do that than just ssh into a linux box ootb

solid bough
#

I want to remote in to the PC (Visually)

#

I can barely do anything in a Text enviroment

#

Though I respect the people that can do a lot in SSH

fast pagoda
#

technically you an easily do gui remote on linux even via rdp as well as long as you dont use wayland to do it, then it's harder (but im pretty sure it's possible-ish)

#

xorg is after all designed specifically to be a server/client system

solid bough
#

Anyway, time to do the thing I wanted to try

fast pagoda
#

that's odd that it's grayed out but unavailable

#

is it still like that after a reboot

solid bough
#

It is google translated

#

There is the " ⚠️ " in front of the GT 710's name

#

Well, I'm kinda Sadge because I wanted to have both on at once

fast pagoda
#

that's just satya nadella alerting like he detected solid snake upon detecting a dual gpu gt710 and gtx750 system in 2026

#

"THAT CANT RUN COPILOT"

solid bough
#

Anyways. It got me chucklin that the GT 710 was able to run the model

fast pagoda
#

you have a sata controller also with the !

solid bough
fast pagoda
#

maybe you're inadvertently having bus conflicts of some kind?

solid bough
#

Maybe PH_shrug

fast pagoda
#

they both use the same nvidia driver on win?

#

or separate ones

solid bough
#

They should have 475.14

fast pagoda
#

i might ddu it and try fresh installing that only

solid bough
#

aka the latest the GT 710 can run

fast pagoda
#

what's the latest for the 750

#

inb4 windows update went ahead and updated the driver package because of the 750

solid bough
#

Idk rn... But that is what bo... WAIT A SECOND

solid bough
fast pagoda

yep

that'll do it

i bet windblows went ahead for you

no, I installed 581.42

Ah yes, the dual... GT... Uh... WHAT?

#

I wonder what Python is gonna say Wheeze (Tensorflow)

#

Eh, it just works...

fast pagoda
#

lmfao it'll even take numbers like 2.0 and translate those to like 2,0 if you choose a language that would use that convention

solid bough
#

I wonder what GPU-Z says

fast pagoda
#

that's fun

#

i wonder why it chooses random colours for text tho

#

what kinda slop pipeline they running these things through

solid bough
#

Wth, I turned a GTX 750 to a GT 710 KEK

#

I literally can't make that up

fast pagoda
#

lmfao what

#

see this is what i expected when i put the nvidia and amd card together

#

because windows

#

clearly has a hell of a time with these things

solid bough
#

I chose the GT 710 driver for the GTX 750 and this happened Wheeze (While it runs)

fast pagoda
#

that's somehow less compatible than running both amd and nvidia drivers is on linux lmao

solid bough
#

Now I have the fun task to... Wait why don't I ask the installer to fresh install the NVIDIA Driver?

fast pagoda
#

this even sees my cpu's gpu and i have not had anything complain even once besides on occasion ML stuff will just default to the nvidia GPU because cuda will be the default

solid bough
#

It's all over the network

fast pagoda
#

windows sounds liek a hell of a thing to wrangle in this scenario

solid bough
#

Eh, I just happened to have Version 581.42 installed for the NVIDIA Quadro M2000

#

OMG, I have a idea

why don't I have the NVIDIA Quadro M2000 and NVIDIA GT 710 and NVIDIA GTX 750 in that one PC?

if it's boom for example, the music is by asteroid, i'd reach out to them directly

they might put you in contact with the right people

um. best to not. it's agaisnt the rules.

vedal doesnt have the copyright for the covers im pretty sure

the covers are in gray area

he doesnt license the rights for the backing tracks i dont think

which means he cannot possibly have rights over the covers themselves

olive sable
azure lynx
solid bough
fast pagoda

and certainly vedal is not motivated enough to go after someone using the covers in a stream

#

if anything, you might get hit by the original copyright owners

olive sable

the thing is

#

for streams

fast pagoda
#

because it'll still fingerprint the backing track

olive sable
#

you can jsut use copyrighted audio anyways

it's a very muddy area to be in

fast pagoda
#

technically it's against twitch TOS

#
Using Music on Twitch
Put simply, you should only include music in your Twitch channel if you’re sure you have the necessary rights or authority to do so. Using unauthorized music on Twitch may result in a rights holder sending a takedown request under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) or similar laws or through a separate contractual process. If a rights holder sends Twitch one of these takedown requests against content on your Twitch channel, it can result in enforcement against your channel, up to and including account termination.

Please note that subscribing to a music streaming service or buying a CD, vinyl record, or other physical media typically does not grant you rights to share that music on Twitch. Such a purchase or subscription typically grants you a personal license to access the content only for your personal and private playback. We encourage you to review each service’s terms of use and other relevant legal pages before including music from that service in your Twitch streams.

#

do they enforce this much? not really

#

but it is very much not technically allowed

olive sable
azure lynx
#

you're not supposed to just put a stream on in the background from like Truckers FM or something... that'd be wrong. ;]

fast pagoda
#

and also

#

re: karaoke streams

#
Here are some example types of music content you may not include in Twitch streams or recorded videos (e.g., VODs and Clips):
(...)
Karaoke Performance – Singing or performing with a karaoke recording unless you own the music or have been allowed by the relevant copyright holder(s) to stream it on Twitch.
#

the issue in question with them

as we can see, not very enforced

fast pagoda
#

i thought about buying 1tb of ddr3 a few days ago

olive sable
#

The copyright for the underlying composition (lyrics and melody) remains with the original songwriters and music publishers.
so the covers still belong to whoever owns the rights
even if vedal bought a lisence for it, the copyright of the cover doenst change to his property

bold ice
azure lynx
#

the copyright of the cover does... but if you're doign a cover if THAT then you need to ask the original person

especially if the 2nd artist might not have permission

I'm running a 2kw rms turned down to 1k for the 2 10in subs but the stock system is 850w

fast pagoda

the motor on the subs those amps were driving was like 40 lbs

azure lynx
#

that's 2 space heaters. 4 if you're in the US.

olive sable
#

its just electromagnet, you got weak litle baby ones, and 5K ones

azure lynx
#

it's going to get hot.

olive sable
#

ye

azure lynx
#

magnets hate heat

olive sable
#

thats why its electromagnets

#

they're off half the time

fast pagoda
#

a DC audio level 6 can handle 8k continuous watts

#

8000 watts

#

they heat up a bit but it's not an issue

#

most of the energy is turned into sound obviously

olive sable
#

8K continues, they can probably do a lot more in bursts

azure lynx
#

how are they cooled? coz putting 8kW into anything will make it very hot after a short time

olive sable
#

big chonking metal

fast pagoda
#

nah theyre fine

#

the power is expressed as sound

#

mechanical

bold ice
#

What's wrong

azure lynx
#

all power turns to heat

olive sable
#

no

azure lynx
#

yes

#

literally how thermodynamics works

olive sable
#

its an elctromagent, most of the power turns into the elctomagnetic field

#

which then becomes kinetic energy

fast pagoda
#

whatever heat it generates is not an issue when your motor is like this

azure lynx
#

kinetic energy == heat

quick condor
#

Sound is just a fancy word for a specific type of air movement, speakers move air over the coil

fast pagoda
#

this is a 15 inch speaker

#

or 18

#

the motor magnet is massive

#

4 inch voicecoil

azure lynx
#

it's not putting 5 kW of heat into the air or the air would start getting super hot

fast pagoda
#

i mean

azure lynx
#

unless it's just radiating it

fast pagoda
#

whatever heat it generates is radiated off without issue

#

you can have multiple of them in a sealed box without a problem

#

i'd do a vented box

#

but the air movement is more than enoguh to keep it cool

quick condor
#

Yah I'm perfectly fine with 10s though bass doesn't matter if that's all you have

azure lynx
#

i'm doubting the 8kW energy use. Peak, sure. RMS.... what is powering it?

fast pagoda
#

RMS is correct

#

there are single amplifiers that do 20k rms

olive sable
# azure lynx kinetic energy == heat

well yes, but actually no.
not in this case.in the electromagnets in speakers, only 0.1-5% or so of the power turns into heat.
they're very efficient.

all heat is kinetic energy, but not all kinetic energy is heat

azure lynx
#

all kinetic energy turns to heat when it stops moving usefully.

olive sable
#

which isnt a problem for the speakers

#

it gets dispersed

quick condor
#

I mean my stock alternator puts out almost 3kw so aftermarket and other factors makes 8k foable

olive sable
#

it has litteraly no effect

fast pagoda
#

it's DC power you can get thousands of watts so easily

azure lynx
#

the energy disappears.

quick condor
#

azure lynx

that's a fuckton of power

azure lynx
#

fast pagoda
#

i had 2 2500 watt rms sundown amps

#

and i had to get a 2nd alternator lule

#

it actually took noticable power from that poor cr-v's engine

#

like it bogged

quick condor
#

Mine shrugs off the 1850w load but then again it's a twin turbo 4.0 v8

fast pagoda

that cr-v had like

olive sable
quick condor
fast pagoda
#

1 horsepower is about 750 watts

olive sable

which sucked

fast pagoda

this crv is not my cr-v but it's the same colour and year (likely, the white instead of amber taillights was only 2005 and 2006, mine was a 2005)

quick condor
#

My battery is stupid large for no reason

fast pagoda
#

needs more cca to crank a v8

olive sable
#

the sub in my theater room is 200W RMS, its a B&W AWS 650
we were planning on having 2, but only 1 was already loud enough, so we decided not to add another one.
with each speaker already using a max of 250W, and we have 5.1.4, thats 2250 + 200 from the sub, so that's already 2.5KW.
and we dont want to trip the breaker

the area under the table where the spare tire would have been if it hadnt been on the back of the trunk door was GREAT for holding a few agm batteries tho

#

interesting new behavior i noticed last week from Gemini in copilot in VS Code: it used python to edit the source as a shell command instead of using the built-in editor-based editing for certain pieces of code. it found it easier even though i had to review and allow it each time.

fast pagoda
#

the models love using funky workarounds in that way

i have to be careful letting it run stuff or not because it keeps trying to do things without being in the right environment, like checking which version of numpy is installed.

what it's not so good at is tool use (the random errors)

they still struggle with that somehow

very inconsistent which can hurt output quality i've found

azure lynx

yeah. there are many ways to edit a file and there just isn't a standard way to train the agents to do it so they have to use whatever is there and adapt which is another layer of communication they have to work around.

i've heard good things from a couple of people about the gemini cli, about it being better than in copilot

i was going to say that gemini cli is better than using gemini in another harness

i might try claude for a week and see how i feel/what my credit balance is.

something that most are good at using is opencode (which kilo code is also based on if you've heard of that)

#

i think i have a free claude credit gift thing if you want it lol

i've got paid copilot and that comes with claude (but opus burns through the premium credits at 3x the rate of anything else).
probably worst case is i don't write much code in the last week of the month. ;]
