i thought it was needed because of various people's setups with it but i think they were old, but it was from before it was supported in rocm but it's now supported. had it set to 1

azure lynx
#

maybe try something in gamemaker.
it has a visual programming language as well as a scripting language so that might help.

rough bloom
#

would recommend try to learn some programming first then vedalYes
it'll be helpful regardless of what you want to do and with what engine
choose engine after that

fast pagoda
#

doesnt help that i also have my 3080 installed and thus also have cuda and nvidia drivers on this system so i thought for a while it was related to that

fast pagoda
#

it wasn't supported alright

#

it hsouldve been a version number

#

i know now

#

but idk where the fuck i got that it should be 1

#

definitely didn't work lmfao

rough bloom
#

ye you're meant to put the version of a GFX IP block there

#

ideally one fully compatible with your actual hardware

fast pagoda
#

well turns out pytorch isnt friendly with 1.0

#

kek

#

should've been 12.0.0 i think

#

works fine with it set to 0

rough bloom
#

yeah that sounds correct

fast pagoda
#

it pretty much tracks with the gfx string

#

this thing is gfx1201

#

anyways it works now which is poggerz because i was gonna reinstall my entire system

fallen thunder

rough bloom
fast pagoda
#

that's why i said pretty much because it seemed like it mightve been correlated but not caused by or something since it was different

#

if i were in charge idk id say set that shit to 12 should work but hey i guess im not lisa su

#

i do need to try and do a run on my 8945HS hawk point gpu

#

for the funny

#

i have rocm working on it which as far as i know it's really not supposed to

olive sable
#

AAA why must hdmi input be such pain?

fast pagoda
#

as long as i actually set it i imagine it'll function probably not particularly well

#

need to give my gpu all 96gb of system ram

#

on that thing

#

slowest beeg vram ever

fiery anchor
fast pagoda
#

i dont like hdmi

#

hot take i know

#

fuck hdmi all my homies hate hdmi

olive sable
#

At this point the easiest solution is litteraly using opengl and writing the program myself

fast pagoda
olive sable
#

Cuz every single program that supposedly does whay i want has decided it doesnt want to work

fast pagoda
#

is this for the helix

fiery anchor
#

asking the impossible?

olive sable
#

I literally just want hdmi input -> hdmi ouput

#

Just passthrough

warped narwhal

olive sable

Orange pi 5 ultra

fiery anchor
#

can't gstreamer solve that

olive sable
#

Gstreamer doesnt work

#

I have got gstreamer to show the first frame, but then it crashes

rough bloom
#

Hmm mpv not work?

fiery anchor
#

hmm enough mem allocated to the gpu for the buffers?

olive sable
#

mpv does work, but 640x480 with 3 seconds of latency was not really my goal

#

Also did like 2fps

rough bloom
#

you can fix that, probably mhm

olive sable
#

It was falling back to cpu

olive sable
fiery anchor
#

had an issue at work recently where the 4th camera stream would crash sometimes, had something to do with the CMA memory being too small.

rough bloom
azure lynx
#

do you need to use tools compiled for the video chipset?

olive sable
#

Not sure

azure lynx
#

it should just all work, but some proprietary drivers suck

olive sable
#

I wish it did lmao

rough bloom
#

driver is not proprietary in this case, it's Panfrost/PanVK

#

hopefully

olive sable
fiery anchor
#

it's embedded. everything sucks and is 10 years behind modern consumer hardware.

rough bloom
#

this one shouldn't even be that bad

#

still embedded, but basically the best case scenario

#

the only GPU on which PanVK is fully conformant kek

olive sable
#

also im going back to ubuntu

#

the only thing orange pi os did was fill the entire 8gb sd card with shit i dont want

fiery anchor
#

sure ubuntu won't do the same?

olive sable
#

nope

#

its the server one

fiery anchor
#

ah true, that one wasn't that bad.

olive sable
#

i only have 8gb of space

#

having scratch and stuff on it is kinda cool as a mini pc for children. but a chromebook that is this slow is a lot cheaper

letting codex use claude or claude use codex etc is funny as hell to me for some reason

#

i love doing it

apparently claude hates trains and codex likes them
this explains a lot

fiery anchor

#

i just didn't know they had a dedicated embedded version of the full line of ryzen/epycs cuz i figured those would just use regular parts, they are mostly same but they have mainly platform feature enablement type stuff ootb like whole spectrum tends to have ecc enabled even on parts that typically dont get ecc enabled chipset consistently, additional burn in, more telemetry ootb with no setup, memory mirroring on the epycs etc

plus 10 year availability guarantee

#

RAS features like server parts which is obvious for epycs but not necessarily regular desktop ryzen parts

#

plus i heard they drive to work in f350 super dutys with powerstroke diesels

olive sable
#

ok

#

i may have found a thing

#

sudo orangepi-config gives a whole ass settings menu

and that's why UPS exist, most with some sort of surge protection

true hemlock

um

#

ups is unrelated

#

it only protect the surge from the AC side

#

burnt components are usually DC side ripples

#

or transients

  • failing or inexistent protections
#

the PSU bro recommended uses group regulation which is like

#

the shittiest of the shit DC regulation

#

i warned him personally few months ago, i wanna feel bad but at this point im annoyed enough so he's getting the taste of it

fiery anchor
#

not necessarily unrelated, cascading errors. Yes, a better psu may have been a better choice and might have saved some components, but a ups is still recommended with unstable power grids.

im just saying that this one specific youtuber had argued with me before and regardless of how many technical sheets i've sent this dude just kept repeating
"experience beats knowledge"

#

olive sable
#

and living is expensive

fiery anchor

wouldn't generalize it that far, since if you get adequate worth or even strike a good deal, it can be a bargain. But that's a more philosophical POV

olive sable
true hemlock
#

if you're on extremely tight budget

#

get a used but reliable psu

#

they're far better than any of the cheap ass bomb

#

consult the SPL PSU tier list. that list is reliable

it'll be definitely better than even a new B- tier.

olive sable
#

i think my current options are Armbian Edge RK3588 or patching the existing ubuntu kernel to enable some rockchip configs

fiery anchor
#

yeah that's a headache

#

especially since if you go the kernel route, there propably will be serveral recompilations until you found the right toggles.

azure lynx
#

and then you just never ever update it again

fiery anchor
#

and then forget, fry the OS, and start from scratch

olive sable
fiery anchor
#

too bad there isn't a fully fledged yocto integration for the pi 5 ultra. That might have been a cool route ( yocto -> basically build your own OS from scratch ) if that stuff would have been prepared and ready to use.

obsidian mantle
#

it doesnt let me make functions that return structures for some reason

#

VS says "cant overload function which differ only by return type" but it doesnt matter how i call the function i tried test13897129319831298391 and its still the same

#

thonk however i have functions that return custom types..
actually they return a vector of custom types

#

and here i dont need a vector

#

so vector is actually a pointer or something and here i return actual structure

#

i just return std::pair now since the structure is small but

#

what would i need to do if i wanted to actually do what i did there?
manually allocate/deallocate heap memory for this structure?

#

or set it up as class

fiery anchor
#

from the error, the issue isn't what is returned, but what is passed.
it doesn't know what function to call.

#

could differ the functions by name, or by argument, or use sth. like templates if it can be generic

fast pagoda
fiery anchor
#

maybe storing the result in a specific type (not auto) might help

opaque sigil

opaque wharf
obsidian mantle
#

ok so this doesnt compile

#

this compiles

#

i just had to put struct before it?

#

actual error (VS was tweaking before, had to restart it)

#

i casually make other kind of struct the same way though everywhere in program and i dont say struct before it

#

so if its a function in header file it must have struct

#

or maybe if its a function in general

#

if its a local/not local variable it doesnt need struct

#

what kind of rules are these vedalCry

#

is this where that "typedef" thing supposed to enter the game?

obsidian mantle
opaque sigil
#

if you wanna use that as is you need the struct specifier YES

obsidian mantle
#

it surprised me because you dont need this specifier for variables

opaque sigil
#

weird, it should complain if you don't have it

#

unless there's a local typedef

#

actually

#

this is c++ you shouldn't need the specifier at all unless you're in an extern c block enub

obsidian mantle
#

obsidian mantle
#

absolutely the same struct as i tried to implement initially

before i switched to pair

that just did have different name in case i would need to add something

The things about language is that it is quite inefficient. For the same concept of apple, we have many different representation of it. So if model could directly communicate their thought to each other, it would be akin to telepathy I think

azure lynx

that's like that multi-modal someone pasted here recently, like with Whisper, a vision model, and a "traditional" LLM, as well as a TTS all joined together so the LLM would get inputs from the vision and ASR and text at the same time and also produce speech

but the reason my concept of apple is very different from your concept of apple, is because I only like specific types of apple, and also have an iPhone, but you think apple pie is better than raw apple. or something

check the help message, you can get a raw output and pipe that to edid-decode

#

I guess it'd be v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --get-edid=pad=0,format=raw

Well, you still gotta do the auction correctly.

No one may enter, when they unseal the abandoned rack.

It COULD be a rack of nothing but FlexStack switches needed to CONNECT the servers.

Or it COULD be a rack of recently-purchased Cerebras Accelerators

That's what makes the gamble fun to watch.

TV stations should be all over this idea, BC it'd be HUGE audiences
