(or guidance gary depending on if the repo name or mentioned name in readme pr is more canonical)
not using a specific stt model currently, we're basically allowing any model as long as it's an stt model
Nvidia parakeet my beloved
ohhh so its able to use multiple different stts
yeah whichever one you pick
what about vads? will it support a vad
idk what a vad is tbh, im not working on this project alone so
Voice activity detection
oh
Not to be confused with vlad the impaler
the lib we use has voice activity detection yea
voice activity detector, detects speech as apposed to just noises, good to put infront of STTs so they dont hallucinate words from sounds
i think
i could be wrong but the one i use does this for me
or voluntary assisted dying
so my whisper model doesnt keep saying "thank you" because some mf coughed in discord
I only know all of that because I need voice assistant for my home assistant lol. And openWakewords provide a very good explanation in their repo
wanting to add "game integration" type stuff for my current AI so tryna see how neuro-sama interacts with the SDKs so this helps, and how it decides to take actions but i assume its all dynamic when you start an integration so it loads the extra tools it can use
And in true open source spirit, some of the wake word is quite colourful
No one has made "hey clanker" yet tho
I like the idea of a wake word but makes me think about them in a google home light instead of someone whos attached / in the group
So atm I just take all speech, and when theres silence for x seconds I prompt the transcript with a system prompt that tells him he's apart of a group convo and not everything is targeted towards him, and such, also a patience meter incase its too noisy and they can't get a word in, so they can
I think i used 2019.. and i remember there were windows forms and some other way...
I also remember that it was hard to google for some reason
Risking sounding a bit like a idiot this to me looks like a low level custom mcp right?
Wel more mix of client/mcp
I mean i geuss its quite complicated to execute and get the data from these games
But i did assume there was more happening on the model side
I'm not sure what counts as low-level, but MCP is just a specific standard protocol so yeah
I mean i geuss in my head i was reaching a bit for the stars thinking of a custom transformer
My tool is a minimal console app written in C#
Since i saw a custom transformer for playing cs2 trainend on pro data
well this wouldn't be the model that is actually trained on that kind of data
just a method for communication between an LLM and whatever
I've never actually used Github LFS; what is the actual limit for it (not per-file)?
all the documentation I can find only talks about per-file limits
No makes sense its a pretty intresting concept tho https://youtu.be/sOgfvb8y9j8?si=zM7TEw1jWQSr0E6R but ofc a lot more work
I might see i if i can do something simmilar more small scale
Or at least try
alright, 10gb ain't bad
I've started self-hosting all my git stuff and I can't believe the power
no more file limits for me!
Your SSD / HDD would say hello to you
everything I've worked with in the past needing large files were the kinds of files I'd never upload publicly so
genuinely how tf do you hit any storage limits on github
I have a 5tb hdd that's been lying around for years, so I'm happy that it is finally getting some use
@olive sable
unity projects :D

the images I'm working with are >100 MB large
i have not hit the limit before
The good old day when Sam places the git repo at onedrive

more of a back-up tho. i havent had easy acces to onedrive since moving to linux
don't use github duh assets are big
some would go as far as to say to not use git
Doesnt unity have there own build in solution for version control etc?
svn then?
i have discvered a website where they sell used lighting stuff
and while it doesn thave the thing i was lookignf or
i can get a 12000 lumen projector for 500 bucks

Unity
No I will
Sam is starting his NileRed arc. Buying used industrial stuff
using it to store LLM weights instead
31000 lumen
you could burn the image into the retinas of everyone watching
hf seems like a better place for your game
than github is
sounds perfect for ads

big money
how will you power it
Do you have 3 phase power to your home?
I think EU doesn't do that, we just have 230V power
Only
Isn't german house have 3 phase by default?
Only 14.5 amps
3 phase 230V
Just running a kettle on constantly
i have 3680W in one socket, i dont need 3 phase
we have 3 phase here if to a house
Yeah, most of the outside words have 3 phase to house. Meanwhile me and my measly single phase 220V
we can get 3 phase, but most houses dont
iran really said give me all of em
TIL that we have upgraded to 230V
bangladesh seems to have 5
wtf yea
also, isnt iran only 1 on that image?
I ran
jordan also has 5
Still on 220V, but according to wiki they only use type C and F
This is an overview of mains electricity by country, with a focus on listing the regional differences in plug and socket types, nominal supply voltages, and AC supply frequencies commonly used for delivering electrical power to low-voltage appliances, equipment, and lighting typically found in homes and offices.
For industrial machinery, see ind...
because fuck u
Industry inertia is one hell of a drug
Could be worse japan has two slightly diffrent power grids that can't be combined
One uses 50hz the other 60hz

HOW
I think it was down to when they industrialised and then due to post war rebuilding
Ohhh, yeah forgot about that incident
Here is what I found. This difference arose as the first generators, functioning at 50 Hz, were imported to Japan from Germany and were installed in the east of the country. After the Second World War, 60 Hz generators were brought from the USA and installed in the western grid.
That's fucked up
It's like they drive I on the left as the British built the train network.
Could be worse tho Switzerland uses slightly diffrent plug to those around them
More places should use the UK one it is so over engineered but super safe
I can tolerate different plug tho because that is easy enough to compete in standard. But the national grid is a whole other thing
True, but the size is too big IMHO. Schuko reign superior in terms of safety and size
Yer the grid is a real issue even more so for when they need to balance the network
You could build uk plugs sockets to be recessed then wouldn't be an issue. That's the reason the schuko is so small
I mean the prongs. Those thick boi are a hassle to carry in a bag
I do like having fuses in the plug tho. That would be a great addition to schuko.
Ah makes sense. Yer the prongs are big
I can agree to that one
The ground being the first pin and the reason the socket opens is also super nice feature. Oh and the on off switch on the plug
But maybe I am just saying this as slightly traumatised by the wiring I have in france 😅
I think the on off are available on some schuko. And since schuko also connects the earth first no? The sides makes contact before the prongs even enter the receptacle
That it does but with the UK plug the ground opens little flaps for the live and earth. So you shouldn't be able to stick something in there without first grounding. If that makes sense
Why the prong is slightly longer
Ya
But I’ve been all over Japan and never needed to consider the plug
Maybe it’s on the other islands
It's not a plug issue it is an appliance issue. Some will just not work as expected
https://fxtwitter.com/brombinmirko/status/2013294217372570092
gnome but not shit
It's not GNOME, it's not KDE, it's not the new Vanilla OS DE, it's new, uses <100M of memory, is accessible (for real) and uses GTK4 (but not libadwaita).
︀︀
︀︀In case the video got ultra-compressed by X, see it in my Mastodon./social account.
︀︀
︀︀#Linux #Windows #OpenSource #FOSS
Ah well I assume stuff you’d take on a trip tends to be switching power like MacBook charger or whatever
Yeah, but some schuko here also have child safety door like that. Granted it can be opened without connected to earth by a curious enough child
aight, i bid $620 on a Lightcrafter 4500
we shall see
its $100 shipping so i hope i dont have to go too much higher
720usd is like 600 euro
buying one from texas instruments directly would be 1118 euro
Windows... I asked you to shut DOWN, not ts smhh.... ☠️
This is an example outlet that have the child protection door
where is the door part?
The hole looks black because of the door
Nope
it should be
it's normal if you have shit lighting
Well yeah, but old installation rarely gets updated
but ye the child protection thing isn't really normal in my experience
Compare to this one where you can see right through the contact
An indonesian outlet lmao
even the older ones we have you needed to twist a frontplate 90 degrees
this one is the standard here
this scares me
Yep. We just discuss about electrical standard and I am from Indonesia
EU sockets feel so large to me as an NAer
And it is still being sold
we used to have smaller ones
but they got panned
banned
same thing
which ones got banned huh
Na plugs scare me.
the child protection sockets are annoying sometimes
door stuck
oh yeah that happens
God on old extension cords this is the worst. Like have to throw my weight behind it to get the plug in

though i had to really try to remember if i ever had issues with them
Well, that is the price of safety vs convenience everywhere lol
Why I like the UK ones as don't have to have two at the same it's all based on the top pin
uk plugs are so painful to step on
So you don't get stuck child protection flaps
therefore they suck
I don't like that they are directional tho
i cant find a wallsocket version, but this basicly
its the same thing but without the ground pin
Oh I've seen them in old places
Ohh, the C plug
slip ring plug when
ohhh
don't those still exist
I've seen them around I think
Never heard of those. What it is like?
italians use one with ground pin in the middle
they don't exist
France still the old style no ground
i would imagine these are easy to break
Mainly for lights and stuff
not really
seems possible to make a safe one but probably too expensive
depends mostly on how new the building is
Dang, that's scary
But why would you want a slip ring tho?
True but the plug it's self there are a lot of the just two pin with no ground. Wall sockets all have ground in new or replacements but no point in the contact ground if only two pins
well, most of our devices dont use the ground pin
more directions
this is what my laptop charger did under its own weight
there's a reason its swappable i guess
The fact laptop chargers don't have ground "shudder"
was in context of UK plug being directional
Schuko and many others have 2 possible orientations at least
so clearly more is better
the actual reason is to ship one brick to all the countries and swap just the plug to the appropriate one
but ye, like tvs, printers, chargers, most things dont use the ground pin
the only things i have that do use it are my PC, my 3D printer, the projector, and the AVR
oh, and my old TV
i dont think i single console i own in the game room uses a ground connection
wrr
launch model PS3 has a ground pin iirc, but i have a slim
Ya mine looks like this with a giant uk end
i have a us plug for this from an ipad 2
they are still compatible
crazy
though the iphone bricks when they still included them looked like this, unique to the region
5V 1A
that's how you know it's old
this is from an iphone 5
i actually found some shit to insert in a socket like this when i was little
i remember it was metal and it fitted very well
why do children like to do this

I have finally abolished the charging brick and opt for charging station
This bad boy can charge so many device at one
Including my laptop (65W)
look it's a 60w pd brick that came included why would i stop using it
them usb chargers don't grow on trees
Child will be child lol
61w
apple
Yes, but imagine this. Single brick on the bag
ye same for me, single brick
when i need to charge the phone i plug it into the laptop
i stopped using powerbanks
Now this is cursed
because of this
it's only cursed because tethering turns on automatically sometimes
because iphone and macbook
and phone starts to melt
USB PD is Chaotic Good
Nah, it is lawful good
Chaotic only to those who design it
For consumer, it is lawful good. But PROPERLY LABEL IT GOSH DANGIT
torchao is sick
I run VAD in between, myself as well as a response gate on my gating model
wdym response gate / gating model?
Its a small (8b) model that does thinking level/response checks. Simple "does the model need to respond" or how hard does it need to think"
And other stuff that is async at runtime
I have wondered about those things
So you take in transcript from whats being said ( either from multiple or just one ) and then send that off to your model to see if there needs to be speech or?
I did want to create some sort of "thinking" engine that just runs and creates the thoughts of the agent, and "speech" is just aother model that takes those thoughts and replies to whats been said with said thoughts in context
Yup just the last like 1-3 turns. It has 16k context but for the gates it only needs about 1k max
Not well versed in LLMs but trying to create a cool system
Thinking is fully internal, speaker and listener are the main model. User never directly interacts with thinking model
Whats your flow like if i can ask?
as im still unsure about my flow but my flow rn is event based
USER_SPEAKING -> usually used for interruptios / silence checks, if no user_speaking then nobody is speaking so its silence, but can also be used for interruptig certain async tasks, i.e. cutting the ai off
USER_INPUT -> Fired when we fully transcribe something, most modules that listen to this just store the message but for the brain it uses that as chat history and knows that its ready to respod
Thinking gate sets routing
Oh cool so it just gets fired after x turns and is added to the brain / main prompt or how is the data / resposne used
wdym by routing ( sorry if im poking a bunch of questions tryna learn all the cool tech / ways people make ai like agents, just tell me to stfu whenever)
as im happy with my project rn but feel like my User -> output is very 1 dimesional, rewriting my memory / rag stuff rn
but like I would like the model to "free think" and do things based on its own will, especially with tools
I have wondered about that but I just don’t have the computing resources to build out the full system
I'm just using cloud for now, i know itll be slow but at least i can build
we agreed on $710
with shipping a total of 682 euro
now i gotta make the rest of the assembly
ad its all openai spec so easy to localised
Can some make how create quality videogame at 2026 in Rpg Maker mv? Mean Tutorial
there should be tutorial videos on youtube
The whole system is hard to explain but essentially, deep thought is slow. At a minimum the thinking model returns a response 20% slower than the main model. With my set up there is light, standard and deep thinking. Light is just the main model, standard goes input > gate > main > think > main > output and deep is input > gate > main > think > main > think > main > output
But be alone is hard scrapped my project because it showed error two years ago.
uh
So is this just deep thinking, and if so is it used to finalise the response or is it used in conjuction to provide context for the next turn? I should probably ask what ur making first, as Im thinking in the context of a "Neuro sama" like responding ai agent, where i want output to be quite fast so it feels seamless
Input (STT) -> Transcribe -> Main -> TTS -> Discord Voice
Where I essentially want some sort of "thought" box where the ai can take what was said, what it said, and create thoughts about itself, what it saw / tool results, the current situation etc
Neuro can't really think, best that can be done is heavy prompt engineering. It's why their buckshot roulette gameplay is nails on a chalkboard to me
My system rn is built on prompt injections per module, so each module can return its own dynamic system prompt
Thinking is too slow
Only reason I say thinking / thoughts are involved is because of a clip i saw where in the minecraft stream vedal showed off her "inner" thoughts of how she found someone mc char pretty which made me think there's some ongoign thoughts that provide some context into how the ai feels or what its currently thinking about
but its merely contextual
Thinking has two things that it could be, you can have internal surface level thoughts and then there is actual reasoning
yeah my thinking is more surface level thoughts rather than reasoning like youd see in commercial llm uis
Bro, why do you need it that badly
Now you know how superbox feels
imo that was more indicative of an LLM scratchpad than reasoning or chain-of-thought
but I mean it could be
but yeah, as said, I doubt it's indicative of a reasoning model
Finally managed to borrow a decent and reliable 3d printer lol
My printer is neither
See Sam, this is how you use your friends
What you making
Lego
Just instead of philips it would be hex
All my friends are a lot more broke than i am
Doesnt work for me

Well, at least having friends in different major will help you a lot in life
ive been in the school for barely 4 months, i know like 3 classmates

Bruh, by the 4th months I have known all of the people that enrolled the same year. But then again, that is because we have a long orientation period (almost 2 weeks)
nah
here everyone keeps to themselves
in the 2nd semester there will be group projects tho
Dang
Apparently ddr3 proices are now starting to climb... Might be worth the headache to offload the 3tb of ecc ddr3 32gb dimms I have
i wonder if there are 3D models available online of the lightcrafter 4500
would make my job a lot easier
i love reading htese forum posts where its stuff like
the defect rate is about 5% at present, for these bad DLPC350 control board, the temporary solution is: ....
However, the real cause of the incorrect Index output order was not found
truely inspires confidence in the hardware
do you actually need it modeled for a simulation?
well, i mostly just need to know where the mounting screws need to go for my 3D printed stuff
were you going to have the projector spin with it or be stationary?
stationary I assume
Did Vedal upgrade the portfolio viewer? I'm seeing a symbol value viewer I didn't see previously
yeah the position chart is new Im pretty sure
the plan is stationary rn
but im open to changing it if things dont work out
the lightcrafter 4500 needs mini-HDMI
the Raspberry Pi 4 needs micro-HDMI

i have a microhdmi cable
why?
raspberry pi 4
checks out

i know this thing is desinged to go from HDMI to either. but surely it could go from mini HDMI to micro-HDMI too?
just have the raspbery pi dangling from the other end
realistically i dont want the pi to stick out, ill need to get an actual cable
micro-hdmi to mini-hdmi is cursed tho
hdmi is cursed
normal HDMI would be fine if they labeled them better
wtf is "superspeed" supposed to mean?
High Speed HDMI 10.2Gbps
Premium High Speed HDMI 18Gbps
Ultra High Speed HDMI 48Gbps
what do you mean premium???
it go faster
the speed limits the max resolution and refresh rates
Hello everyone and welcome to another Budget Builds Episode where today we're taking a look at a GPU that for some reason has never actually featured on the channel...This card being the R7 270 (Which as I divulge into in the video goes by many other names, HD7870, R7 265, R7 370...More or less all the same thing and all available at the same pr...
@sick owl I remember you emantiokning older hardware is still usable yesterday
This card is holding up way better than I expected
Not amazing
But for 10 bucks
Well now 50 since a YouTube highlighted it
Is not that hard to measure with a digital caliper
Ahh, then check the datasheet
8K60, 4K240
thats crrazy
thats wild
you're going to be limited by the lowest speed of any part so there isn't any point in massively exceeding what the device itself can do
just get a better device then
like ye i wont see 16K on my tv eventho my cable supports it
True, add more spacer and plop your own mount
Those kind of spacer is stackable anyway
with DSC it can do 16K60
nothing even exists yet that would need that
Btw Sam, did you put a desiccant on your filament?
i found the limits of my vec implementation
also i kinda used copilot to fix the bugs in the genLabelByIdx(idx: number): string method
wdym by scratchpad
like giving them the ability to write stuff to themself which isn't output to the TTS
fr
reminds me of the 560Ti i snatch for $3
slightly worse than that $10 card but ehhh
Used copilot
Thats the first problem
bold of you to assume that a bug fix that actually worked is a problem
first read the full context before you make comments like that
the silly method in question btw
no not really
i don't even remember what the old version looked like lmao
5 messages isnt much to read. If copilot can answer it, then it was a simple problem that could have ben fixed faster almost any other way
yeah no shit.. but literally yapping about what i wanted was easier than a google search.. because google doesn't work that way
https://arxiv.org/pdf/2412.18653
idk bro, im all in for the future of 1.58-bit models over 16-bit
this is an unexplored holy grail of LLMs at this point
i am rn looking for the old version tho
i sent a ss of that ages ago
old version
way worse
and buggy
PLA can survive without dessicant, but something like PVA basically requires it
depends on your environment ofc
I was wondering if I could dry out the desiccant
term for any kind of output the LLM can write to and reference that isn't visible to the user
yes
depending on the type of dessicant ofc but
molecular sieve or silica gel can be heated up in an oven or microwave
The usual silica gel
calcium chloride no
should i get a pi4, or a pi5? or maybe something else entirely?
yeah silica gel oven or microwave works, although you should look up exact times and temperatures
ah okay so you're saying its just use for extra context? as in its prompted by the system itself and stored so the system could use it for some extra context?
if you bought the silica gel in bulk it should have instructions
Orange Pi. Support is minimal but better design overall
I do not
This is my friends printer and the silica comes with it. The Bambu AMS
yes, so solving the problem of how an LLM can't reference anything that isn't written. So older setups couldn't play Hangman because they couldn't "remember" what the word they came up with and was hiding from the user was
ah, AMS and not AMS Lite right? so the filament spools are enclosed?
Yeps
I...think there's a hygrometer in there?
or it's just a common mod, I'm not sure, I have a modded AMS Lite
There is. And I know for a fact that it is full already
cool beans ty
The silica gel that is
Meanwhile Q4 GGUF
so some silica gel has a color thing where they start off orange and once they have too much moisture they turn green
otherwise, you may have to go off the hygrometer; as long as you're under 50% RH I think you're fine for PLA for long term
although even lower can be better
I like to keep it at 35% or lower
That's the thing, it is always above 60% RH here

Yeps. That is why I know the silica is full. My friend has not used it for a while
Oh, TPU is an entirely different beast
and frankly TPU can already be a big pain to print, so I do not want to add any bit more difficulty
yeah, oven/microwave then
Thanks btw, it's good to know that I can microwave it
Ahhh, got it. Got any step by step that you usually do?
I usually follow whatever instructions on the packaging of the bulk container I have
I don't remember them off the top of my head, I'm not home atm
I see, alright thanks
I think 30s at a time?
30s at full blast?
depending on wattage
I think mine is around 1000. I don't use microwave that often lmao
you'll want a safe container to microwave it in
I do have a microwave safe glass container
ok apparently it varies greatly depending on the specific silica gel
i use a filament dryer. you can get them kinda cheap.
you can also try an oven
it takes longer but is safer
and less risk of the silica gel melting your container
Hmmm, oven it is. What's the temp and time?
like 170F to 200F for a few hours
but I'd check on it frequently
at least while you're unsure about it
or uhh, under 100C
Got it thanks. Gonna DIY some oven using the printer heated bed lol
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJNXYDB7 <= this is designed for drying filament and doesn't get plastics in your food preparing stuff coz it's specially made for it
Kingroon Filament Dryer Box Upgraded 360° Heating with Fan 1KG 3d Printer Filament Dryer Filament Dry Box for 1.75mm/2.85mm/3.00mm PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU,ePA-CF, ePA-GF, and PC 【Presonalized Settings】Filament dryer box adjustable timer controls from 0-24 hours and 3 temperature settings (50℃,60℃,70℃...
Nah, I already know how to dry the filament. This is the desiccant I am talking about
put it somewhere hot without a bag for a long time then bag it while it's kinda hot.
Yeah, that's the oven thingies
10m at defrost in microwave or 0.5 to 2 hours at 250F in oven
nah, it appears that SBC HDMI devices are bad for running 120hz RGB888 912x1140 at precise speeds
i cant really have it stutter too much
Yeah, I'll also check if the heated bed can reach that temp lol
If not, I'll figure out a ways a usual
You don't say? Bruh, many SBC don't even have a gpu
But some orange pi does have gpu tho
the A1 can hit 100C; I imagine the other Bambu ones can too
Noice, thanks a lot
oh, the A1 mini only reaches 80C
but if your friend had a full AMS Im guessing they don't have an A1 mini
P1S
I am currently drying a filament on the bed right now
yeah probably 100C, given that it needs to be able to print ABS
but will it do 120fps footage reliably?
damn the 5 max is 200 bucks
Just get a mini pc if you don't need the gpio lol
Also @rigid snow https://makerworld.com/models/2243965?appSharePlatform=copy
Download this free 3D print file designed by 3dPrintInPlace. PlugGuard is a compact charger protector designed to keep your wall charger straight, secure, and stress-free.It fills the gap between the charger and the wall socket, preventing wobbling, bending, and long-term damage caused by loose outlets.By supporting the charger’s weight, PlugG...

the 5 8gb ram model is only 160
the 16gb one is 200

i think id need to gpio for the motor controller
how much do you need the extra memory on the device? i imagine it would mostly run the display application which communicated with the actual brains somewhere else anyway
I made a notetaking canvas app in 4 hours because i told my friend about how easy it is and he told me "you're thinking like a user or a tester"
i odnt really need it at all lmao
and yes, the grid is infinite
and pannable and zoomable
the assumption is its gonna read video files form an sd card and ouptut it to the hdmi
thats all i need
And passed round 3 in like 15 minutes... All that's left is the final interview with the datacenter manager for the site
if i feel fancy i might make it proceduraly choose what file to play, like an animation
not even going to generate the image dynamically? even easier then.
Motor control can be achieved with external MCU unless you need extreme clock sync
the lightcrafter 4500 has its own syncing stuff
i was assumign id jsut hook it up to a potentiometer or whatever to get the current rotation of the helix
Then you're good to go
USB is fast enough anyway for most use cases (even CNC)
But make sure the MCU is connecting directly via USB, not through a UART
Indeed they aren't lol
But you need the capability, and a mini pc has a certain guarantee. For Orange Pi, I think you need to look into it a bit more
it seems like mini pcs are more expensive actually
i think the orange pi will be fine
you probably don't need the latest raspberry pi. could even get an older 4GB one for like $80
don't you need a special potentiometer for that?
Yeah, but driving a 120Hz display could be an issue. Iirc, pi 4 can only drive 4K 60Hz?
for turning indefinitely
I don't think the motor could turn indefinitely
an encoder would probably be more traditional, but Im not sure exactly how much precision you'll need
hall efect sensor shuld be fine
Like the AS5600
probably fine ye
if you have the RPM coz know how often it rotates one complete turn then you can just use that to give you pretty good accuracy, coz you can assume it's rotating at a constant rate.
so hall effect would be fine
That only has 12-bit res tho. So you can only move 360°/(2^12)
Add some filter to the two LSB and it is even bigger (the minimum detectable angle)
even terrible one. coz you do the actual position by looking at the percentage of time you are through the rotation, not by reading a (potentially noisy) position reading.
don't you just love verbosity because of safety features
i found a very silly bug
it can't convert from __svec for some reason.
like...
no i need to rephrase that apparently
it refuses to overwrite the top level vector in a nested vector cluster if the top level isn't stored as __ivec
i have no idea why tho
Hey for 10 bucks beggars can’t be choosers.
public fromString(str: string): this {
if (!(
str.startsWith('__vec') ||
str.startsWith('__svec') ||
str.startsWith('__uvec') ||

that's the fromString method....
which does work
but
its supposed to spin at 900rpm. how acuratly i can make a motor do that is another thing tho
if after importing with that.. if i then do .readonly(false) which should make it mutable... it still isn't..
15rps, with 2880hz, thats 192hz per rotation
but if i import it as an ivec then make it immutable.. and then only when needed make it mutable just to change 1 thing and make it immutable then it does work
here you can see that exact scenario working btw
and then not working after telling the thing to not export the top level as ivec
the first version literally never had this problem
or maybe it did but i never tested it by doing anything else than exporting top level as ivec before.. idk
exporting it as a normal vec also not works
it literally only works when i tell the thing to adopt the properties of the vector instance it is imported into...
IT'S LITERALLY 2 FRICKING BOOLEANS
again.. these are the vector types
export enum VecTypes {
/**
* Standard Vector
*/
VEC = '__vec',
/**
* Vector with unsafe operations
*/
UVEC = '__uvec',
/**
* Readonly Vector
*/
SVEC = '__svec',
/**
* Readonly Vector with unsafe operations
*/
SUVEC = '__suvec',
/**
* Inherit Parent Vector
*/
IVEC = '__ivec',
}
the thing is.. even if i did set the Vec instance to readonly.. or to not allow unsafe operations or both... the fromString method bypasses that
and to make it even sillier
the inner vectors their properties ARE properly adopted
it literally only affects the top level
btw this line:
__uvec["Test DB","kvs_test2_"] __uvec["Test DB","kvs_test_"]
is the output of this
console.log(DB_META_VALUES.toString(), DB_META.get('y'));
aka
it first outputs the mutated VecString in the sub vector... and then it fetches that same string from the parent

im so glad i dont have to deal with all that
idk why you are even in a situation where you have to turn a string into a vec
storage

just store it as a vec
strings are very different to vectors
json doesn't have those?
jason might want to get those then
the strings are basically just arrays with a prefix that tells the class what properties it should have
because there physically isn't an answer... it's probably some wierd niche obscure bug in the runtime if imma be honest
i was originally gonna get the base model, but the ultra has a hdmi input too.
i wanted to get the 4gb one too, but those don't seem to be available.
no worries tho cuz the 8GB one has this massive sale of $0
lol
i now made it also work in node.js... still same problem
doubt bun will be any different tbh
bun also not works
i suppose this isn't the end of the world
but.. it certainly is wierd

Who is that
Famous ecnonomist and former greek finance minister who pulled the country back from the brink
Also the designer of TF2s economy
That’s all you had to say
The original designer anyway
He's not consulting with Valve anymore which is probably part of the reason it suddenly went tits up in the last year or two
"we must learn to doubt everything we see and hear"
Isnt that fundamental principle of entire life that existed in all times
Is it the first time he saw misinformation?
It was the case for a while that video evidence was among the highest standards of proof
That's what he's getting at
Oh makes sense
The level of skepticism now required would have been unhealthy in prior eras basically
This is so weird
I wonder how he got into it
Here's a bit about it
Yanis isn't the only example
Fuck i get infinite "one more step" captcha with vpn and its inaccessible without it

oh i remember that, fun times.
Oh nice Swiss vpn worked
There are tons of videos of like Nigel farage investment scamming on YouTube’s adverts
As in deepfakes
So they actually hire economists now
with the lightcrafter 4500
we could in theory
do triangle
at 4225hz
instead of my computer screen limiting it to 180hz

4225hz only works for shit that is pre-rendered tho
for live rendered stuff we're limited to 2880hz
4225hz only works by using the internal ram. and there is only enough internal ram for 48 images
at 4225hz that doesnt go a long way

hdmi is not fast enough to do more than that
or well, this implementation of it isnt
120hz at 24bit = 2880hz 1 bit
are we ram limited or DLP limited
4225hz.... that's an interval of 0,2368 ms. Not a lot of time.
more like chipset limited
the DMD is able to do it jsut fine, with time to spare even cuz that is with extra time included to let the mirrors setle a bit
its mainly the input chipset stuff
i should get one of these for osu
high refresh rate lazer display
so mirrors are fine,
it’s just the human-facing IO that can’t keep up 😄
its 912x1140 pixels
150 lumens
Least polluted LAN
about as much as 60 to 75hz
actually 120hz to 240hz is a closer comparison
DLPLCRC900EVM has a DP port input allowing it to do 240hz24bit, so 5760hz 1bit
was slightly out of the budget tho
as long as you dont mind 1bit colour 1 bit white????
monochrome?
whats the term
Part of me wonders in what order "pixels" are even drawn in. I feel like one would start in the center to reduce the rotational offset that the mirror has while rotating.
binary display
we have a full mirror per pixel coming out of the projector
so it should all happen at the same time

i wonder if i could overclock it
You'd be better off building a new board for it
sounds expensive
No way
the DMD itself can do 4225hz, its jsut the hdmi input mode we want to use thats limited to 2880
so i guess a new board would help
i just already spent 900 bucks on this so i dont realyl want to spend more
i also need to pay for opensauce still
For stuff like this, I think some amount is being paid for components. But I think a lot more is being paid for the assembly and brand name.
but I doubt one can just obtain the raw compoents
the jump from 60 to 75 is less noticeable than the jump from 120 to 240, for me
120 doesnt look that much better than 60 to my eyes
in terms of motion clarity i guess
like reading text while scrollimg
well. for voxon i checked how much their shit cost
they only make profit cuz they buy stuff in bulk, for a consumer making one of their devices its very easy to end up going higher than their $6800
my math was at like 7000$ if i got some decently bright leds, with driver boards capable of 7400hz like their device does
I still somewhat get dizzy when I have to use the 165hz display on my laptop, just used to 60hz all of the time.
i had a 144hz monitor
my pc is 180hz on all dispalys, and my laptop is 144hz
even my phone is 90hz
i dont think theres a single device i daily drive thats still on 60hz
no the
and i have a 60hz second monitor
even my tablet is 144hz
usually
60hz is fine but I'd never buy 60hz in this day and age
mine is
not just that
1080p 27" 144hz
I think the only 60hz device I still use is my Steam Deck
time to get one of those high hz oleds
and my monitor has good timings so it doesnt ghost at all
funny, i cant afford it
If motion clarity is the goal you'd be better off waiting for GSYNC Pulsar
rapid movement does feel smoother on 240hz but 144hz is already at a level where i dont really care
same
Zero sample and hold judder/blur, which is something OLEDs are very susceptible to below 240hz
i actually swapped my monitor physically with a relative

i was trying to remember the name of that but couldn't
I love my OLED but if I was in it purely for motion clarity I'd 100% go for Gsync Pulsar
its super noticeable for me unfortunately
the projector int he game room is 4K60hz,
can do 120hz in 1080p tho so idk if that counts
You're the exact target demographic for gsync pulsar
i cant stand looking at the time between frame updates
Kinda funny that we went from rolling scan with CRTs to sample and hold and now we're going back to rolling scan again with pulsar
especially with the blatant irregularity thats clear even at 240hz

That's what makes the new pulsar LCDs so great, they use a rolling scan like CRT displays
You get motion clarity close to 1000hz on a sample and hold display at 60hz with pulsar

i guess it helps that i dont scroll that much, most of the jarringness of 60hz comes from cursor movement for me
60hz explod
high hz oled still low hz
get DLP projector
the expensive ones ($3500) can do 32Khz 1 bit and 10Khz grayscale
so like 3Khz colour probably
I'm sensitive to 60hz sample and hold when first going back to it but I adjust over time
i could never go lower than 60hz in this day and age
ye same
i was wary of going back to 60hz for my linux phone but i got used to it
my phone is 120hz and my monitor is 240hz, so i dont really interact with 60hz displays
ive used it for so long that 60hz just gives me a headache
60hz is just at borderline acceptable, but im spoiled and like more
Tbh if I solely played games I'd happily drive a Gsync pulsar display at 60hz over my OLED with graphical compromise to reach 240hz
Its just straight up better than sample and hold in that regard
it feels like when youre in a room and you can see that the light takes AC but has a diode in it so its flickering at like 50hz

already planing on buying the 57'' 240hz G9 as the next monitor. would fit perfectly between my speakers, and height would be ideal as well. dual 4k@240Hz will be a pain to drive though.
I thought ASW more or less solved frame drops in VR these days
it gives me a headache even though i cant see it if im tired
it shows up on camera really clearly too
ruins video

idk
its still noticable to me
eventho the rift should technically be fine
welp
i should sleep
i have my last exam tomorrow
go eep

or like, if you wave your hand
and it looks like a 50fps video
instead of a hand wave

the lights in my home do it since theyre LED
bwaa
if i shake my hand in a certain way i can make it look like its teleporting between two states

I hate that shit
tradeoff for 240p

konii eyes have at least 51hz
guess i'm lucky, i have a 75hz display next to my 240hz one and it's never really bothered me
The way it makes your real life environment look like its running at a low framerate
Just ew
ye
its distracting
i tend to prefer incandescent bulbs to be honest
but led are so energy efficient
i cant not use them
well, i think this problem is nearly solved if you get good led lights
mine are cheap though
i use good LEDs and don't have any flicker.
nearly everytihg in my house is halogen lights i think
I don't have that issue with the eco LEDs I use
Paradoxically its the expensive bright ones at my grandparents house that have it
ye, the thing about led is that theyre obviously diodes so they only produce light when the current is going in one direction, and not the other, which for ac means theyre off for half the cycle
im not sure what compensation good ones do for it

mabe convert to DC
id guess they just go both ways with diodes to make ac to dc rectifier
They typically use a rectifier.
that makes sense i guess
so it's on for both halves
still feels like you'd get some dimming
and a capacitor to smooth it.
it's across mains AC. it depends on the capacitor and you can do more smoothing too with more circutry
if it were noticeable, it'd only be at low brightness i guess
since the relative difference is higher there
in high speed video you can notice it, but it's not as bad as some incandescent
i've got some special LEDs with drivers that give a constant level for high speed camera stuff.
I also use LED, but a proper one with a driver so it doesn't flicker even on camera
Change your light
Ive heard some houses have dc wiring for lights
And 1 central converter
very good lights cost more. goodish lights are just a matter of finding some good bulbs.
I dont like how blue some leds are anyways
that's new to me, I can see it if you're already throwing Ethernet and other data cables.
Ill keep to my yellow halogen
I am making exactly that lol
Its not common, but it exists
sounds like they have power supplys embedded in the walls. which will fail at a random time to maximize inconvenience.
wrr
I wanted to have a full control of the light, so a buck/boost current control that I can adjust via pwm for the whole house
My phone and displays should be hdr or whatever.
So neutral colour temp i guess???
we should grab konii one of those RG displays they used to use before blue LEDs were invented
i'd replace all of my lights with sodium lamps but im worried i'd forget the colour blue
ye
Nah, in the garage or utility room. 1 central big brick of ac to dc
when i have the light on, the colour blue is black

its like how deep sea fish are red as a form of camoflauge
well, monochrome
from black to white
just have a blue light switch as well?

just do anything
world hunger switch
its on my wall
and you're leaving it on....
solving world hunger would also put a lot of people out of jobs
at least they wouldnt go hungry i guess

Im already jobless
we know.
but none of the jobless would be hungry
They cant steal what i dont have
so that's ok
they may be thirsty or have no shelter
or have environmental pressures
This reminds me of when my parents for the new room decided to make every outlet in an already dense formation one of those usb embedded ones.

konii always so mean
why did you get the stupid switch installed?
is that a switch for stupidity or a switch that is stupid
Both

no need to switch for stupidity
The switch being on made the switch itself stupid
Stupid switch
Do we have any evidence of konii being nice to someone?
Does elvy count?
yes
Ye sure why not
I feel like she makes fun of me every chance she gets
Its not like she actually insults me or anything tho
Hi guys

camuel manuel danuel

tremble before me
i am the mighty wrrrr wrr
i have come to steal all that you hold dear and set it ablaze

quiver with fear, coward, for your time of reckoning shall come

Imma sleep instead

I feel that XD

can give me money to
potentially* influence my judgement of you

claude 4.5 opus is so good
shame it's only actually great if compared to other llms and is still shit and costs a fortune to infer
today on unity dumb
mfw opus 4.5 is basically free compared to gpt 5.2 pro
version mismatch?
i installed unity like a week ago
i actually dont think this one is unity's fault tho
cuz this function used to show up
but its just decided it no longer exists i guess
is it only a class function (surely not)
coz you pass an object of the same type into it, it looks like a class function
Yeah I'm just not discounting the API being stupid
colliders collide with other colliders
one is provided via argument
the other by the calling instance
seems about right
what does it return?
tho maybe it is a weird class func or something
i thought this was an event at first
but now im not sure
coz it could return what that thing collided with
could just be an LSP issue
it might be a weird under-the-head implementation function
and not actually part of the interface
but am i really meant to believe that colliders have to check every frame for collisions?
and that there's no event for this?
isn't that what the function is for
you can check at any point, so it shouldn't force you to check at a particular point in the processing
cause Collision2D has pretty much no functions attached to it according to the docs
yeah thats just a container object that describes the collision i think
its not really meant to do much
The collisions details are returned by MonoBehaviour.OnCollisionEnter2D, MonoBehaviour.OnCollisionStay2D and MonoBehaviour.OnCollisionExit2D callbacks. It details which Collider2D and Rigidbody2D pairs are involved in the collision as well as contact points where the Collider2D meet. Note: During the OnCollisionExit2D event, there are no contacts to be retrieved.
so you need to set up the collision event handler?
im telling you MonoBehaviour.OnCollisionEnter2D does not exist
a lie?
idk

wait
does collider2d not inherit monobehaviour
what is happening here
do either of the examples work?
collider2d is just the event payload you get when a collision occurs i guess
wait
no that's collision2d
the more i play with it the more confused i get
it doesnteven make sense that monobehaviours have that function
a collider is something which can have a collision
monobehaviours dont inherently have rigidbodies or colliders
how can a monobehavour collide with something
aaah
that makes zero sense
"object" in unity is a very loose term
the thing with that behavior does it
a unity object, without any modifications, is closer to a folder than what you think of as an object
the only thing it inherently has is a 3d position and a place in the game hierarchy
it doesn't have physics, colliders, or even a sprite
contains nothing, exists
have you read the example on the page from #programming message ?

it still makes no sense to me why that function would be part of monobehaviour
actually just seems like bad module practice to me
but ok
that seems to be how its done
it's inheriting "behavior" so it becomes a "thing which behaves in a way" instead of just an empty container?
it doesnt
unity has different base types
some builtins arent monobehaviours
collider2d only inherits behaviour
not monobehaviour
and the collision functions are naturally in monobehaviour because
I feel like monobehavior contains every state that the engine controls itself. Just my running theory from this thread.
unity is weird. there's probably a tutorial somewhere which explains why they do it a certain way
monobehaviours have a bunch of lifecycle and update method
its not very clean but it works
its yucky though and makes little sense for compartmentalization
it does make sense
nothing without a rigidbody or collider will ever need to receive collision events
